Frame pool under polycarbonate. Do-it-yourself swimming pool - we are setting up a small lake on a country plot. Routine canopy maintenance

Whether it is worth making a canopy over an outdoor pool is not even discussed. Even if a modern system for protecting against pollution and maintaining a microclimate is installed, polycarbonate canopies over the pool improve the comfort of swimming, especially in windy weather. It’s worth trying it in practice once to understand the difference.

For a large pool mirror, a simple canopy cannot solve the protection problem, but for the home option, building a polycarbonate pool canopy with your own hands is a very realistic and affordable option. Price offers for a custom product range from 50 thousand rubles to 20 thousand. dollars. An objective analysis of the price shows that only a third of the price of a finished roof is the actual cost of materials and work, the rest is profit, taxes and a lot of incomprehensible costs. If you have a penchant for design and some free time and money, it’s worth making a canopy over a polycarbonate pool with your own hands.

Types of pool covers

Pool covers are most often used for protection:

  • Pavilion-type capital structures that protect well from solar ultraviolet radiation and radiation;
  • Sliding options with movable frame sections made of polycarbonate, covering the pool mirror with a kind of cap;
  • Collapsible temporary structures used for country pool options;

It is clear that the listed diagrams do not cover all the diversity of design solutions, but they allow us to understand the design and advantages of various polycarbonate pool canopies shown in the photo.

What pool covers should be and what they are like

The use of polycarbonate to protect a pool provides a number of advantages that are difficult or much more expensive to achieve using other materials - glass, polyacrylate or any metal or metal-plastic. Low specific gravity, resistance of the material to the external environment and excellent light transmission make polycarbonate the best candidate for sun protection.

In addition, the installation of a polycarbonate canopy should additionally provide:

  1. A soft, warm microclimate in the surface layer of air, which allows you not to experience discomfort from gusts of wind even in cold times. The good thermal insulation qualities of polycarbonate reduce heat loss and condensation on the inner surface of the canopy;
  2. The ability to regulate the ventilation of the space under the canopy with good protection from dust, leaves, and rain entering the pool tank;
  3. The use of cleverly selected polycarbonate colors creates excellent diffused lighting that is difficult to achieve with windows or glass panels.

Important ! You can avoid sunburn or the risk of skin diseases due to the fact that polycarbonate absorbs the lion's share of the particularly dangerous spectrum of the solar flux, turning dangerous ultraviolet radiation into harmless heat thanks to a special coating.

The simplest option with open side space

The most affordable and cheapest option for a canopy over a polycarbonate pool (photo) is considered to be a pavilion scheme, in which the main body of the polycarbonate roof is placed on supports above the pool mirror to a considerable height - up to 3 meters at the highest point.

In such a scheme, polycarbonate sheets are laid on arched ceilings and form a curved roof, providing a huge area of darkness not only for the pool, but also for the surrounding area. This allows you to place seating areas and everything you need for comfortable swimming in the shade, without installing additional awnings and umbrellas.

Pavilion canopy structure

The pavilion structure is the simplest and most technologically advanced to manufacture; the main difficulty lies in the manufacture of welded arch structures. The total weight of the roof allows them to be made of aluminum or thin-walled steel pipe. The arch design is a standard solution for any canopy and can be purchased from a construction company at an inexpensive price. The rest of the work on installing supports and installation is quite accessible for doing it yourself.

The pavilion structure uses cellular polycarbonate; it is easy to bend and fasten, but subject to the manufacturer’s requirements for sheet curvature.

The disadvantages of a canopy roof include the need to take into account a number of factors when planning and constructing:

  • A pavilion-type polycarbonate structure should be installed either directly adjacent to one of the walls of the house, or a fence should be provided around the perimeter of the building, protecting it from gusts of wind and prying eyes.
  • In conditions of sunrise and sunset, the effectiveness of protection is reduced to a minimum, so this type of canopy is not suitable for installation in a completely open space.

Often, in pavilion canopy structures, one, two or all vertical walls of the building are covered with monolithic polycarbonate, thereby turning the pool into a completely enclosed structure. This impairs air movement, but allows you to protect the pool no worse than expensive cascade structures.

Arched sliding and temporary structures

Often you want to implement an unusual idea, and arched canopy structures will allow you to fully realize your design ideas. The problem is not how to make a canopy for a polycarbonate pool; the question comes down to the technological capabilities of processing thick sheets in non-industrial conditions.

The arched structure of the canopy is usually implemented in a sliding or cascade version, which allows you to move individual sections, changing the configuration of the canopy in the most comfortable way.

The use of monolithic polycarbonate is justified for vertical glazing of the frame, but you should not abuse the beautiful material. The monolith, in comparison with a honeycomb sheet, has a high ability to reflect and conduct sound waves. Therefore, under a closed canopy made of monolithic polycarbonate, a multiple echo effect may occur; not all people like to feel like they are in a barrel.

A special type of arched systems are temporary canopies based on lightweight aluminum pipes or metal-plastic profiles. The entire canopy is divided into three or four component sections, assembled above the pool mirror on a special mount or guides made of a metal profile. Such canopies retain heat poorly and can only be recommended in the summer. Thanks to its lightweight design and simple removal scheme, the canopy can be moved from the pool and used as sun protection in any part of the house.

They are easy to maintain, repair and, if necessary, replace damaged polycarbonate sheets. The weight of an individual section, as a rule, does not exceed 25-30 kg and, when disassembled, can be easily transported by a Gazelle. They are mainly used for small pools in country houses or country houses. The service life of such systems is at least 10 years, provided that high-quality polycarbonate not made in China is used.

Cascading polycarbonate canopies

Cascade systems, as a rule, consist of three cascade sections of different heights, which allows one part to be folded into another. Each section can have its own color background and degree of polycarbonate transparency, which allows you to choose the most comfortable level of darkening for swimming on a sunny day.

Similar designs of polycarbonate canopies have a complex roller system of supports, along which the sections actually move along the guides. If necessary, sections of the pool surface can be completely assembled into a compact structure that does not interfere with vacationers swimming and sunbathing at the same time.

Such structures are very resistant to vertical and horizontal loads, any rain, and can withstand even stormy winds. The disadvantages of such systems include the rather small volume of space under the canopy, which worsens the conditions for air movement and often does not allow getting out of the pool through the side walls. Ventilation of the interior surface of a pool roof is critical. Despite its stability, polycarbonate is prone to hydrolysis and clouding when left in water for a long time.

The basis of this material is polymers, and it is not surprising that experts predict a great future for it. Lightweight polycarbonate contains various types of voids in its structure. Its weighted version is monolithic and is often used for structures with a high degree of responsibility. Due to its flexibility, this material is perfect for shelters with different curvatures. Among its main advantages are:

  • relatively light weight;
  • ease of transportation;
  • ease of installation;
  • durability;
  • weather resistance

Despite so many positive aspects of this material, it has certain disadvantages:

  • decrease in strength when the protective film is damaged;
  • before installation, you need to design the future structure in detail;
  • Incorrect tightening of mounting fasteners leads to cracking.

From this it is worth drawing a conclusion: if you treat it responsibly and do not damage it during installation, then during operation this material will not be picky.

Choosing polycarbonate for canopies

When purchasing polycarbonate, you need to navigate its types and types. The first thing you should pay attention to is the thickness of the sheet. It varies depending on the purpose.

Advice! If you want to build a complex structure of large dimensions, you must first make calculations for snow and wind loads. And only after that choose the required sheet thickness.

Considering that such material is presented in two types, namely monolithic and cellular, it is worth choosing it for certain types of structures. It is worth considering that the first type is much heavier than the second, and therefore the weight of the structure directly depends on this. The thickness of any type of polycarbonate sheet for canopies is used, starting from 6 mm and above. Which depends on the size of the spans.

Considering that polycarbonate pool covers not only perform a protective function, but can also become part of the pool, you should be responsible when choosing its color. Therefore, when purchasing, you can evaluate all color options and settle on the most suitable one for your situation. If you are planning frequent renovations and design changes, then you should choose transparent sheets.

It is always worth paying attention to the fact that such bright colors can radically change the color of the structures under the canopy. On the one hand, this can create an interesting atmosphere, but otherwise it will spoil the tranquility of the atmosphere of the place to relax. And if you want to completely protect a certain area from the sun’s rays, then other dark shades.

Types of polycarbonate canopies for swimming pools

Depending on the design features, pool canopies are divided into two types: stationary and sliding. The first type of structure is immobile; it takes up quite a lot of space. Such structures are multifunctional and are ready to cover not only the pool itself, but also the surrounding areas where couches or other structures can be placed. A foundation is built under this type of canopy so that it is firmly fixed and lasts for many years.

If you need a cover exclusively for the pool, which will be extended when necessary, then you will like the canopy.

Due to the plasticity of polycarbonate, canopies made from it can take many shapes. That is why you can easily create a pool area design according to your preferences. To begin with, you can determine the height of the canopy yourself. After all, it can only cover the pool itself and rise 1-1.5 meters. Or you decide to create a structure up to 2 m high, and maybe higher, in order to hide under it not only the reservoir itself, but also various communications, along with a recreation area.

Installation of a polycarbonate canopy

If you are really interested in pool covers made from such a universal material, and you want to build one on your site, then you should familiarize yourself with the stages of its construction, as well as all the nuances of operation. Polycarbonate is not picky, and yet it needs to be looked after. And if installed incorrectly, certain elements may be damaged, causing its performance to deteriorate.

Creating a canopy and installing it

Thanks to professional installation and the use of high-quality materials, your structure will be incredibly durable for many years. That is why all stages, from design to the last stage of installation, should be treated responsibly.

The best option would be to invite professionals. But, if you want to build a canopy for a polycarbonate pool with your own hands , You need to familiarize yourself with all the nuances of this process:

  • The main and irreplaceable stage in the construction of a canopy is the project. This will not only help to avoid problems during installation, but also during operation of the structure. By calculating the required amount of material, you can find out how much money should be spent and where you can save. At this stage, the strength is calculated according to snow and wind loads. Such calculations should be made by a professional engineer if you do not want the structure to collapse like a house of cards during the first winter precipitation.
  • When the project has already been created, you can begin construction work. The required number of sheets has been calculated, materials have been purchased. It is important to prepare the site itself; it is leveled and smoothed. Now it's time to build the foundation. Since the structure is quite light, the optimal foundation depth is 50-60 cm. After small pits have been dug, it is necessary to fill them with concrete.
  • The next step is to install the support posts. The already selected pipes must be secured in the foundation. Now it's time to construct the frame. This is the most important part, because the durability of the future canopy depends on it. Having bent the arches and secured them to the racks, it is necessary to install stiffening ribs. They are carefully welded to the arches or secured with screws.
  • When it is finally constructed, it is time to fasten the polycarbonate sheets. It is very important to be extremely vigilant at this stage, because if the fastening screws are not tightened correctly, this can lead to cracking. By scratching the protective layer of the sheet, you can cause the high performance properties of the material to deteriorate in the future. Therefore, carefully bend the profile and slowly make holes in it.

You need to know that the protective film is removed only after final installation. The main materials for creating such a design are:

  • concrete mixture;
  • bolts;
  • polycarbonate sheets;
  • profile pipe;
  • perforator;
  • welding machine;
  • sealant;
  • level.

It is important to install polycarbonate only with the protective side facing the sun, which will help prevent fading. It is necessary to use a sealant to isolate the joints from the penetration of rainwater and other external factors.

Caring for a polycarbonate canopy

In fact, this material is very easy to use and does not require special attention. If you followed all the rules during installation and not a single part was damaged, the structure will serve you for many years. The sealant protects fasteners from aggressive external environments.

Therefore, the only step in caring for polycarbonate structures is cleaning. The canopy must be washed with plain water. If it doesn't take up a large area, you can even hose it down. But, since water can leave stains, it is necessary to wipe the structure with a cloth or special devices in order to remove dirt.

If the structure is significantly dirty, it is worth using products designed for this. Under no circumstances should you use abrasive products, as they can damage the surface and leave scratches on it. You should also remove dried dirt very carefully; you should not arm yourself with sharp objects.

Pool canopies made of polycarbonate: conclusions

Thus, we can conclude that polycarbonate is an excellent shelter option for any type of terrain. It can easily replace tree. . and even metal. Moreover, such material has a very affordable price, and many can afford it.

There is an incredibly wide range of colors on sale, which will allow you to use polycarbonate not only for the purpose of covering, but also for decorating the area. Due to its plasticity, polycarbonate canopies can become an indispensable part.

Pool canopies made of polycarbonate, the photos of which perfectly illustrate their aesthetic qualities, will suit any style and building. Such a shelter is quite simple to construct, and it is not at all difficult to care for. You can create the design with your own hands. But, if you want the canopy to be resistant to all weather conditions and last for many years, you need to seek help from a specialist.

The appearance of your own swimming pool at your summer cottage can be compared to the materialization of thoughts after watching Hollywood films. If you think about it, such a landscape element can radically transform the appearance of the territory, making it visually brighter. In this article, we will look at what a polycarbonate swimming pool is in a dacha, and we will also learn how to make its bowl.

It should be recognized that although our country is rich in various types of reservoirs, not everyone and not always can pamper themselves with swimming in them. Therefore, if “the mountain does not go to Mohammed...”, then you can turn your own plot into something like a lake shore.

A polycarbonate pool is one of the easiest ways to achieve this. It should be understood that we are talking not only about the bowl, but also about sheltering the structure from atmospheric influences.

Why do we need a pavilion?

Thanks to this design, you can really improve the performance of the pool.

She:

  • protect the summer pond from debris, in particular, branches and leaves from trees in the area, which will reduce the number of its cleanings;
  • will make it possible to use it even in rainy or very windy weather. Often a heater is installed in the room, warming bathers even in the cold season;
  • allows you to extend the life of an artificial reservoir, protecting it from the summer heat and preserving it during conservation in winter;
  • will not allow the water to cool quickly, which will provide great savings in electricity;
  • protect from ultraviolet radiation during water procedures;
  • will become another place to relax, protected from prying eyes.

Tip: if it is not possible to make a stationary pool, find out on our website how to install an inflatable one.

Pros of polycarbonate

Of course, a bowl can be made from different materials, and the industry is ready to facilitate this. However, many experts are inclined to believe that the most successful option is polycarbonate.

Below we consider its positive characteristics:

  1. Weather resistant.
  2. Resistant to biological influences, it has been noted that algae do not grow in such structures and harmful microorganisms do not multiply.
  3. The price of arranging a pool depends on the size of the structure and will not exceed $10,000 excluding the pavilion. For example, a concrete bowl will cost $85 per square meter. m, and from propylene - for $100.
  4. You can do all the work yourself and in a short time.
  5. The material is lightweight and does not pose any difficulties for its delivery to the construction site.

Advice: renting a diesel generator for your dacha will help solve the problem of uninterrupted power supply to your dacha.

Constructions

Various structures can be installed above the pool, differing from each other in the degree of protection. Two main directions can be distinguished:

The structures also differ in height above the pool:

Another design feature of shelters is their ability to be:

  • sliding, when convenient operation occurs due to the fact that the sections are installed on guides. Such structures are difficult to manufacture, but are in good demand. This is due to the mobility of the structure;
  • stationary, when shelters are installed over high artificial reservoirs made of polycarbonate.

The design of the protective structure depends on the pool bowl and can be:

  • rectangular;
  • round;
  • combined, used for non-standard bowls;
  • dome-shaped - usually above a round bowl;
  • arched or pitched, where there must be vertical walls and an arched roof. Typically, such structures are large in size and can accommodate, in addition to a swimming pool, a recreation area and even a small front garden.

Advice: if you don’t want to build a house on a country plot yourself, ready-made country houses made from block containers with all the amenities are offered.

How to make a pool yourself

Below are instructions for the process:

  1. Select a site that should not be the lowest on the territory and located no closer than 15 m from a residential building. Also make sure that the tree crowns do not obscure the future structure, and that there are no power poles nearby.
  2. Clear it and mark it.

  1. Dig a pit. Try to make the walls smooth and dense.

Advice: if the soil in the area is too soft, deepen the hole to a hard layer so that groundwater does not damage the building.

  1. Make drainage by digging a hole with a depth below the pool near the pit. It is designed to drain water from an artificial reservoir. For this purpose, prepare a drain pipe, install one end of which at the bottom of the wall of the structure, and lead the other end into the drainage tank.
  2. Make a frame from dried pine wood, which must first be treated with a permanent antiseptic.
  3. Treat the lower parts of the bars approximately 500 mm with bitumen to protect them from rot and insect pests.
  4. Dig prepared pillars in the corners of the pit with your own hands and around the perimeter, keeping an eye on their horizontal level.
  5. Fill the bottom of the pit and compact it with layers of crushed stone and sand.
  6. Fill the top with a cement-sand screed 100 mm high.
  7. After the solution has hardened, tie the pillars together with boards.

Advice: you can play it safe and put a waterproof awning fabric on the bottom before installing the polycarbonate, choosing the appropriate color.

  1. Install the polycarbonate base over the entire area of the frame. Thanks to the good flexibility of the sheets, you can create the desired shape in a short time.

  1. Seal the ends of the sheets using special adhesive tapes for polycarbonate.
  2. Carry out decorative work around the pond by installing non-slip slabs or similar materials along the edges. Don't forget about the stairs for easy access to the pool.

Conclusion

From the article you learned what types of artificial ponds in the country house are made of polycarbonate, as well as what structures are used to protect them from atmospheric influences. It was also told how you can dig it yourself.

The video in this article will help you find additional information on this topic.

Rest and recreation are now only a dream for many people, because not everyone can afford a train to the sea. The reason for this is simple - there is little money. This is not happy, but the situation can be corrected if you are the happy owner of a house. If the sea is unattainable, then you can make an indoor pool at your dacha, which will also please you and your family.

You just need to make a little effort, and your summer cottage will become a wonderful home resort. Just a few years ago it was almost impossible to create an artificial pond on the site.

Today, everyone can afford this luxury item. Yes, yes, and all because swimming bowls in their variety of types and prices have expanded so much that choosing a pool that suits your means will not be difficult.

Build a swimming pool on the site– a great way to relax in the summer heat. If it is of decent size, then you can not only splash, but do swims in the mornings and evenings. And how much joy the children will get! Excellent well-being is guaranteed to you.

And the dachas of the 21st century are no longer so similar to those that were before. Now I’m going out of town not to starve myself of planting cucumbers and tomatoes, as well as many other household chores. works. Exhausted by the pace of city life, residents of large cities turn their plots of land into recreation areas designed “to suit themselves”, and in this case a swimming pool will be an excellent addition.

Artificial pond in the country- this is not only a new comfort zone, but also a place for a special microclimate and even a reservoir with water for emergencies when there is nothing to water the flower beds with. In general, the benefits of a pool are obvious if you install the container correctly and operate it strictly according to the instructions.

Which pool should you choose?

On the modern market you will find three popular categories of pools:

  1. Collapsible.
  2. Stationary.
  3. Inflatable.

They all differ in shape, design and size. These are the main parameters that will influence your choice. You will choose what to choose based on the size of the plot, conditions and preferences. But it should be said that each of the options is good in its own way.

Stationary

The name speaks for itself. Such containers are installed turnkey. Such pools are either medium or large. According to the type of installation they are divided into:

  1. Frameless

Frameless structures built into the ground

To operate such a model, it will have to be equipped with some systems, at a minimum, this is a water supply, drainage and cleaning system. If you don’t take care of this in advance, within a couple of weeks you will be swimming not in clean water, but in dirty slurry. You can refuse the purification system, but think for yourself - where will you drain 14 tons of water, and how much will it cost you to fill the pool every 2 weeks with clean water? These costs will be more expensive than it would cost you to purchase and install the purifier once.

It looks great, and if you are mentally prepared to endure all the difficulties with installation and arrangement, then you should not refuse this option. If not, give preference to a frame container, since installation problems (and costs) will be much less.

But many summer residents are seriously concerned that they will have to spend a lot of time on cleaning, so they decided to make an indoor pool in their country house with their own hands. This is the right decision, since the pool will only need to be cleaned once every six months.

When choosing the type of container for your dacha, do not forget about the climatic features of the region. Most containers, even without water, simply will not withstand local frosts, so you will have to invest in frost-resistant models.

Collapsible

Such pools are classified as small and medium in size. The thing is that it is almost impossible to assemble it yourself, and the procedure is quite expensive. But the advantage of the model is that it is ideal for unguarded areas. It can be assembled, filled with water upon arrival, and dismantled in the fall and sent to the barn.

This type of pool also needs filtration, but there is no need to install complex systems. For small volumes, you can limit yourself to disinfection with reagents that are harmless and of high quality.

Inflatable

Naturally, such pools cannot be large, which is great. Due to its size, the pool is suitable for those owners whose plots are not so large, and the advantage is that storing such models is not problematic - you can even fold them into a sofa. You can also take the pool with you on a picnic. For large models, a metal frame is provided - it is assembled from hollow tubes (made of aluminum).

What are indoor pools for cottages made of?

When choosing a pool, you should remember that they can be made of any materials. This is especially true for stationary models. Manufacturers have fallen in love with materials such as plastic and other composite materials.

Products made from polypropylene have good characteristics and can withstand temperature changes well. They can be used all year round.

Plastic containers are more fragile and may burst when the temperature drops. It is not used to create large tanks, but is not uncommon for medium-sized tanks. It is also used for folding structures and decorative colored pools.

More practical models are made from composite. The material can transform, but the body does not break through. The walls cannot be scratched or broken. Such a pool will be durable, which is why it is used to create an indoor pool.

But all types have one drawback– they have a standard appearance, so if you want a unique pool, you will need to build it yourself. Yes, it’s expensive, but it’s the way your heart desires.

Separation by filling type

According to the filling methods, pools can be:

  • Overflow.
  • Skimmer.

In the first models, a grate is made in the tank, through which overflowing water enters the storage tank. This system visually increases the size of the container and allows you to always maintain a certain water level.

In skimmer models everything is somewhat different. They cannot be filled to the brim of at least 15 cm, since there are no storage tanks. The water that enters the tank is purified through a skimmer. This is an inexpensive option, which is why it is very popular in the private sector.

Finishing materials

You can decorate an indoor pool at your dacha with the following materials:

  • Polypropylene.
  • Mosaic.
  • Tile.
  • PVC film.

The film is sold in rolls and can be of any color. The most popular are blue, white, light blue shades. The role of such finishing has a dual meaning: waterproofing and aesthetics.

Polypropylene is a polymer that has high strength, is easy to weld and is resistant to aggressive climate conditions. Usually they buy blue polypropylene.

But mosaics and tiles are chosen with a low level of water absorption. Ceramics are used to decorate a public pool, and mosaics will fit perfectly into a summer cottage. A pool with this finish will appear visually deeper.

Location

It’s not enough to choose a pool, you need to think about how you will care for it, so we suggest planning everything in advance.

Important: If you have clay soil on your site, then this is an ideal option for installation.

When planning container placement, consider the following points:

  1. If your soil is clay, you don’t even have to choose a location for installation. If the waterproofing fails, it will stop water leakage.
  2. The area where you plan to place the pool should have a natural slope. In this case, it will be easier for you to dig a pit and choose a place to install the drainage system.
  3. You should not place an indoor pool in your country house where there is shade from tall trees. Plants sense moisture and can easily damage the waterproofing. The most aggressive trees are willow, chestnut and poplar.
  4. If the pool is located near a water supply, this will make it easier to fill the container with water.

Dimensions

The ratio of length and width is correlated with the general purpose. If you want to do swims, give preference to a rectangular shape. For a simple “splash”, it is better to make a round shape. Depth will also be important. If you are a fan of jumping from the side, then the bottom should be at least 1.5 m deep. To place a tower or springboard you will need a greater depth - at least 2.5 m. But you can make the bowl deeper in the place for jumping, and then bring it to standard depth.

The biggest challenge in creating an indoor pool with your own hands will be the combined type, which is suitable for both children and parents. The zones will have to be separated by partitions that will go from the very bottom. This way, children will be protected from falling into deep water.

Attention! In this type of pool, you should make a flat bottom that will smoothly descend. Sharp jumps are unacceptable for safety reasons, because walking along the bottom you can inadvertently miss the line and choke. Don't ignore this advice.

Design of an indoor pool at the dacha

When you come to decorating, do not forget that you have a pool, not a pond, and you should decorate it accordingly. This is done using paving slabs or wood decking. The pool bowl can be hidden behind a stepped deck. If you are planning a large stationary pool, entrust this matter to professionals.

A distinctive feature of a pond will be the presence of a cleaning system, drainage, for example, heating/counterflow. To do this, you will need a utility room, which can be made in the form of a beautiful house. The design of the pool room or roof does not require any frills.

Plants as decoration

If the indoor pool at your dacha will be located outside, decide what you want to see around it. When drawing up a plan and choosing an idea for plants, do not break the main rule:

“There is no need to plant plants near the pool or on its shore. The water with the chlorine it contains will kill them, and you can forget about comfortable swimming among beautiful plants.”

To do everything at its best, the plants will need to be planted in tubs or containers. In this case, there will be no interaction with the treated water. Regarding the plants themselves, choose those that can withstand all weather conditions. These include juniper, Chinese rose, oleander, agapanthus, Yucca gloriousa, and southern cordyline.

Add-ons

Making an indoor pool at your dacha with your own hands is not that difficult, but decorating it and making it a full-fledged recreation area is not easy. Pool lighting will help you with this. This way, you can enjoy swimming in the evenings. A fireplace or fire pit will also look impressive. Such elements will relax and add coziness.

Anyone can make a pool on their country/dacha plot if there is space for it. For a long period of operation, it is important not only to correctly design and implement the pool itself, but it is also important to properly care for it, which is why many owners have the idea of the need to create a canopy. A polycarbonate pool canopy will act as reliable protection and can also transform the local area.

This is what a polycarbonate pool cover looks like

Even if the pool has modern protection against pollution and is able to maintain an optimal microclimate, a polycarbonate canopy will significantly increase comfort during water procedures, especially in windy and rainy weather. If you don’t need a specialist (you have a penchant for design, a little time and money), then you can try making a polycarbonate canopy with your own hands.

Low pavilions are convenient if the pool is used only in the summer season

Advantages of a polycarbonate pool cover

A polycarbonate canopy has a number of advantages:

  • the water in the pool will be cleaner, the tank will have to be cleaned much less frequently;
  • the pool can be used during strong winds, rain and other “whims” of the weather;
  • a polycarbonate canopy provides protection from ultraviolet rays, so when swimming you don’t have to worry about getting sunburned;
  • the plasticity of structural materials allows you to make canopies of various shapes without damaging the canopy;
  • due to the light weight of profiles and polycarbonate sheets, the assembly of the structure requires a minimum of time (there is also no need to use special equipment);
  • despite the light weight, the design has a large margin of safety;
  • water from a pool under a canopy evaporates much more slowly;
  • skillfully selected polycarbonate sheets create excellent diffused lighting, which is almost impossible to achieve with glass and plastic panels;
  • the finished polycarbonate structure retains its original appearance at temperatures from -40 0 C to +120 0 C;
  • heating the pool requires significantly less electricity due to the low thermal conductivity of polycarbonate.

If you use polycarbonate mirror panels, this solution will significantly increase the space of a small pool, fill it with light and create a cozy atmosphere.

A sliding canopy located above the pool will prevent debris from entering the water

Types of polycarbonate canopies

There are two types of pool covers, structurally different from each other;

  1. Stationary. The design of such a cover is monolithic, placed on a foundation, and usually occupies a larger area than the pool itself. In some way, it turns out to be a unique structure designed to accommodate not only the pool itself, but also furniture, a bar, benches, etc. Electricity and heating are usually supplied to such an extension;
  2. Sliding or telescopic. Such an extension can be fully or partially extended to cover the pool. The main advantage of a sliding canopy is the ability to heat water using sunlight.

Types of structures

Stationary and sliding canopies are presented in the form of straight or bent aluminum profiles and polycarbonate sheets, attached to the frame using self-tapping screws. From a technical point of view, stationary canopies are a multi-sectional system, which is very difficult to install on your own. To build a stationary canopy, contact our specialists for help.

This is what a stationary canopy looks like from the inside. A semi-closed pavilion protects only part of the pool, and it is better to install it from the wind or from green spaces.

Sliding canopies have a more simplified design, consisting of separate sections. Telescopic canopies can be produced in the form of oval, semicircular, asymmetrical and other shapes. Such a canopy for a polycarbonate pool is much cheaper, and assembling it with your own hands is not so problematic.

Sliding or telescopic pavilions move on a rail system and can be completely removed from the water area of the pool

Canopy for a polycarbonate pool: do it yourself or do you need a specialist?

Before you begin the installation process, you need to decide on the shape, design and size of the canopy. The design can be drawn using a computer program, or you can simply draw a diagram on paper, not forgetting to display all the dimensions there. If everything is done correctly, then calculating the approximate consumption of materials will be very simple.

The polycarbonate pavilion is assembled according to the principle of a conventional greenhouse

If you are going to start building a canopy yourself, in a construction supermarket you will have to purchase: polycarbonate sheets, a profile pipe with a square or rectangular cross-section, concrete mix, fasteners, screws and bolts, a shovel, a welding machine, a screwdriver or hammer drill, a jigsaw, a hacksaw, concrete mixer, tape measure, level. If you don’t want to buy all this equipment for a single use, our specialists will be able to calculate and install the canopy for you.

Although polycarbonate sheets are light, the structure will be quite heavy in the end. The canopy must be installed on a concrete foundation with a depth of about 50 cm; After laying the foundation and drying it, it needs to be covered with tiles, which will provide additional protection from moisture. The canopy frame is usually made of metal or wood. If the profiles need to be bent to obtain an arched shape, then a specialist is needed - a professional welder.

This is what the process of preparing the foundation for a pool cover looks like. The foundation should protrude another 7 cm forward from the pavilion structure in order to securely hold the entire load

To create a frame you need:

  1. Throw the profiles over the pool, and then secure them to the foundation;
  2. Stretch the arcs at a distance of 1 m from each other, and place stiffeners between them;
  3. Connect the structural parts together with bolts or welding.

After creating the frame, they begin to cover it with polycarbonate. The joints with the frame are marked on the sheets, then holes are drilled there for self-tapping screws (in order not to damage the skin, it is recommended not to remove the film from the sheets). The diameter of the holes should be slightly larger than the diameter of the screws, because under the influence of heat the material tends to expand.

A canopy made of metal profiles, with a closed side from neighbors. Made of milky cellular polycarbonate, thickness 10 mm.

Polycarbonate is attached to the profiles with self-tapping screws, under which small washers are placed. After the joints between the sheets and the screw heads must be treated with sealant.

Resume

Polycarbonate has acquired excellent strength characteristics, unlike, for example, polymer plastic. Despite its positive properties, polycarbonate coating must be kept clean; It is also worth taking care of the metal frame if you want the coating to last for a really long time (it is necessary to treat the metal elements with an anti-corrosion agent once a year).

You can avoid sunburn or the risk of skin diseases due to the fact that polycarbonate absorbs the lion's share of the particularly dangerous spectrum of the solar flux, turning dangerous ultraviolet radiation into harmless heat thanks to a special coating.

If you are confident in your abilities, you can try to build a polycarbonate canopy yourself, but no one can guarantee you a long service life of the structure. The cost of canopies is determined individually (depending on the complexity of the design, painting, brand of polycarbonate, its thickness, etc.), but in any case we offer the lowest prices.

Such structures are very resistant to vertical and horizontal loads, any rain, and can withstand even stormy winds.

We sell polycarbonate at a price of 3 thousand rubles. for 1 m 2 in Moscow and the Moscow region. The monolithic polycarbonate offered by us has the following dimensions: width – 205 cm, length – 305 cm; cellular has a fixed width - 210 cm, with a length - 6 or 12 m. The material lends itself well to cutting and changing shape, so from us you can purchase as much polycarbonate as you need to create a canopy. Regardless of the volume of your order, you are guaranteed to receive free delivery.
