Swimming flower - types, reproduction and care. Community of little green men Swimsuit bloom

Bathhouse, hot flower, trollius - all these are the names of a charming herbaceous perennial belonging to the buttercup family. The Latin name is associated with the shape of the plant, because trulleus is a “spherical vessel”. The plant received the name swimsuit in Rus', as it grows along rivers and streams, in wet meadows. It blooms when the swimming season opens. The fry, growing right next to the water, seems to be bathing too.

In former times, one could admire the flowers of the swimsuit outdoors, on a picnic. Now the swimsuit flower is much less common in forest glades, and some species of the swimsuit flower are even listed in the Red Books of a number of regions.

Common plant species

In Russia there are about 20 types of frying. They grow in gardens into large bushes with fragrant yellow or orange flowers and straight stems up to 70cm high. A powerful bunch of cord-like dense roots is fried on a short rhizome. The most famous plant species:

There are also white-flowered species - these are swimsuit purple and paper cup. At the moment, many garden forms with large flowers have been developed. The spherical bright flowers of some flowers reach 7 cm in diameter, and their pleasant faint aroma is reminiscent of the aroma of tangerine.

Growing in the garden

Reproduction

The plant mainly reproduces dividing the bush. Dividing and planting bushes is carried out in early spring or late August. The root collar is deepened by 2 cm during planting. The distance between flowers should be 30-40cm.

Reproduction can be carried out cuttings from ground-level young shoots that appear in spring, and from summer rosettes with part of the underground stem.

For reproduction seeds Freshly harvested seeds are sown at the end of September - beginning of October, shoots will appear by the beginning of May next year. The seedlings are planted in their place in the spring of the second year. Small seeds quickly lose their viability, which is why they are sown immediately after harvesting in the fall. During spring sowing of seedlings, it is necessary to stratify them for 3-4 months at a temperature of 2-4°C.

Propagates well by self-sowing; seedlings appear in the spring, grow slowly, and are planted in a permanent place in late August - early September. Seedlings bloom in the second year, but abundant flowering can only be expected in the third year of the plant’s life. Zharok is sensitive to transplantation, and blooms only in the second year.

Care

For care you need the following:

  • weeding;
  • watering;
  • loosening the soil.

At a distance of 10 cm from the bushes, loosening is carried out at a depth of no more than 3–5 cm, since the flower has many poorly protected surface roots. The soil is constantly mulched with humus or peat. For proper development, you should also systematically add nutritious soil to the base of the bushes.

Since the flower loves moisture, watering is reduced only in autumn. In the first year of flowering there is one peduncle with one flower. Further, the number of peduncles increases, and they often become branched. The flower at the top blooms first, which happens when buds appear on the branches. The beauty of the main shoot is enhanced by its branching. At the same time, flowering time increases.

For secondary flowering, faded flower stalks are cut out. In one place, a fry can grow for 10 or more years, growing year after year. Afterwards, the curtain must be divided and replanted.

The leaves are decorative throughout the growing season. In September-October they die off, only after that they are cut off, leaving the base of the petioles 2-3cm above the ground surface. Thus, they protect the buds located in the center of the rosette shoot, from which a peduncle is formed the following year. When cutting leaves that have not completed the growing season, a significant weakening of the bud will occur, and next year there will be no well-developed peduncle.

Zharok in landscape design

Swimsuits look great in groups on lawns, mixed borders, near bushes and trees.

Especially successful combination of swimsuit and stone: in the foreground are low-growing perennial plants, behind which are the swimsuits themselves; in the background there are taller plants, late flowering perennials with leaves of decorative shape and color. The roaster is also used for distillation.

One of the valuable qualities of the plant is that it is used to make bouquets that do not fade for a long time. In this regard, the European swimsuit stands out.

Myths and legends about the plant

Different peoples attributed mythical properties and a special history to frying. The Germans call this flower Trollblume, that is, troll flower. In their opinion, the mythical formidable creatures really like the leotard flower, and in places where it grows, trolls gather on the full moon and brew a healing drink from the roast.

In Rus', the plant got its name thanks to the pagan holiday of Ivan Kupala. After all, the rose blooms just during the holiday. Russians consider the first flowers to be messengers from Ivan Kupala. By the way, the name frying is more common in Ukraine, where the name “night blindness” is also in use; Muscovites called the flower “avdotka,” and Vologda residents called it “cufflink.” There are other names too.

Harm and benefit

The swimsuit plant is often used for decorative purposes; it is used to decorate summer cottages, gardens and flower beds. The flower is unpretentious and lives long, blooms for at least a month with bright yellow flowers. More often, the swimsuit is planted in flower beds along with forget-me-nots or blue irises. The flower stays in the vase for a long time.

Zharok is considered a poisonous plant, but is still used in folk medicine as an external remedy used for rubbing against edema and tumors. A decoction of the flower serves as an antiseptic and hemostatic agent.

In case of improper processing and exceeding recommended doses, there is a high risk of causing great harm to your body!

The flower grows in the form of a herbaceous perennial. Belongs to the Buttercup family. Flowers are yellow and orange, spherical in shape. The stems are leafy, and the flowers look like a delicate rose. In this article you will be able to get acquainted with a detailed description of the Swimsuit, where it grows, and gain useful information about the types and characteristics of this flower.

The Latin name of the flower is Trollius. There is no official confirmation of why the swimsuit is called that. Some sources say that it comes from the ancient German word troll. The translation of the word means a ball, which characterizes the shape of a flower. Other sources write that swimsuit means trolls' favorite flower. From the word Trollblume. There is a legend that on one of the warmest July nights, all the trolls of the fairytale forest gather. On this night they prepare a magical and healing drink in their golden cups. The trolls pour the prepared potion into bottles and leave, leaving behind the gilded cups. It is these cups that people call a swimsuit.

This plant can be found in almost every part of the world and in many climate zones. Swimweed grows both in the tundra and in the desert, at the foot of mountains and on various parts of rocky terrain. The flower can be found in the forest and even near a glacier and snowfield. It also grows in the meadows of the Alps.

Description of common species

The most famous types include:

  • European
  • Asian
  • Altai
  • Chinese

European

It is distinguished by its decorativeness. The shape of the flower is in the form of a ball. The color is yellow. Flowering begins from the first days of May. Its duration can reach from three weeks to one month.

Asian

Looks like a European swimsuit. The flowers of this species have a double shape with open sepals. Flowering is not as long as the previous species and ranges from 1.5 to two weeks.

Altai

It is similar to the Asian species. The main difference between the Altai flower and the Asian one is the color of the flower. Its color is bright orange. In addition, there is a distinctive spot on the inside of the flower. The brown anthers also make the flower particularly decorative. Abundant flowering occurs at the end of June, and flowering itself begins in the first days of summer.

Chinese

The Chinese swimsuit has an unusual shape of the bush. The bush is quite tall. The flower shape is flattened, with a bright orange tint.. It has a compacted appearance of sepals. This species blooms with the arrival of warm July days.

Medicinal properties

The bathing suit contains vitamin C. The flower helps treat diseases associated with the liver, and also helps relieve swelling. Can relieve swelling. To do this, the collected stems must be steamed, then placed in a cloth and applied to the painful area.

An ointment is prepared from the plant to treat abscesses.. In ancient times, healers and healers could use ointment to treat serious blood diseases and diarrhea.

The swimsuit is used quite often, as it has many useful properties. But, despite these qualities, the plant is considered poisonous. Therefore, you need to know and monitor the dose that the sick person takes. If the dose to the body is large enough, this can lead to severe poisoning.. Poisons found in the plant can worsen the condition of the brain.

The largest accumulations of poison are in the root system, but in the flower its content is insignificant.

Today it is used less and less, it is considered poisonous. Healers and herbalists used the bathing suit to treat various types of scabies, dropsy, and epilepsy.

Some recipes have been preserved. For example, in order to get rid of a disease such as scurvy, you need to follow the following recipe:

  • one teaspoon of flowers
  • one glass of water

Stir well, filter and consume three times a day from 15 to 20 grams.

The root of the plant can be used to get rid of scabies. Two tablespoons of dried and ground root should be poured into one glass of hot water brought to a boil. Drink this liquid four times a day.

Angina and edema due to heart problems are well treated. The medicinal plant also helps against cancer.

Contraindications for use

Despite the fact that the swimsuit has many useful substances and has the ability to heal, it also contains toxic substances. Poisoning is possible if a large dose is consumed. The poison contained in the plant can harm the human body, as well as significantly aggravate the condition of the patient.

If a person has an allergic reaction when using infusions, then the bathing suit should be neglected.

The plant must be taken seriously; if used incorrectly, it can cause irreparable damage.. Can worsen the condition of the human body as a whole and affect certain organs. It worsens metabolism, which leads to malfunctions in the body.

Therefore, a very important component is the use of the exact dosage of the decoction or infusion of the bathing suit. In the worst case, this can lead to death.

The use of flowers in landscape design

The swimsuit is also used for decorative purposes. Used to decorate a soda area, as well as an area with a rock garden. The flowers look very beautiful with bright orange and bright yellow flowers.

They look very elegant in combination with blue shades of irises. Mixed plantings are created with a swimsuit, and they also look good in single plantings and in groups.

The swimsuit is used to create a decorative effect in the park X. Flowers look beautiful when decorating the coastlines of reservoirs of various sizes.

Landing

One of the important aspects in this matter is the choice of landing site. The best place would be a small shade. The plant loves direct sunlight, but not all the time. It needs a break from the sun for some time so that the leaf blades open their stomata and take in more air.

If the plant is not provided with such conditions, then the swimsuit will grow much smaller. And the most important thing is that in this state the flower will not be able to bloom for a long time.

The best places for a swimsuit will be shade under a tree or bush, as well as between stones.

The plant tolerates low temperatures well and is considered quite winter-hardy. Therefore, during the winter months it does not need to be covered.

This beautiful plant is not too demanding on soil quality. It can be safely planted in unprepared soil.

A more suitable soil for a flower will be medium loamy soil. If the soil contains a higher percentage of clay, this can lead to stagnation of water. As you know, the swimsuit cannot stand this.

For better growth, you can add 5 to 6 kilograms of peat, one tablespoon of nitrophosphate and a small amount of humus per square meter to the soil.

The plant tolerates planting well and does not require special conditions. It is better to plant before the end of August, otherwise the flower may not have time to form immunity and accumulate enough nutrients for a good winter. Despite its high winter hardiness, a weakened plant may not tolerate too low temperature conditions.

Basic rules for plant care

The swimsuit plant practically does not require special conditions for its cultivation. Care is necessary as for most plants. Timely watering, the required amount of fertilizing, as well as the destruction of weeds.

With the onset of cold weather, leaf blades die. Therefore, in order for the plant not to waste energy on this process, the leaves need to be cut off and only the petioles left. They will protect dormant buds that will produce future flower stalks.

Platinum sheets should be trimmed when they are completely dead. Approximately this period falls in October. If you cut it earlier, it will weaken the bud and the plant will bloom worse.

Watering for a swimsuit should be timely and regular. This must be observed especially for young seedlings. In dry and hot summers, the amount of moisture needs to be increased.

For normal growth and development of flowers, it is necessary to carry out regular weeding to remove weeds. Loosening the soil is also an important factor. This procedure must be done carefully, and no closer than ten centimeters to the plants. The depth of loosening should not exceed 5 centimeters.

Fertilizing also affects the plant. The best periods for fertilizing are the first days of May, as well as before the flowering period.

Feeding option:

  • ten liters of water
  • one tablespoon of urea
  • one teaspoon of nitrophoska
  • one teaspoon of Agricola for flowering plants

All the necessary ingredients need to be mixed and fed at the right times with a small amount of fertilizer.

Bathhouse is an extraordinary plant, which is distinguished by the special color of its flowers in bright yellow and bright orange shades. It is widely used in folk medicine in the treatment of many human diseases. The swimsuit is also used to achieve an emphasizing decorative effect.

Caring for the plant will not be a hassle, but with proper care it will produce abundant and long-lasting flowering.

European bathweed (Tróllius europaeus) is a perennial plant; it is also commonly called Trollius europaeus L.

Synonyms for the name among the common people are “siverushki”, “night blindness”, “beaters”, “lights” and many others, this is not surprising, because the plant is incredibly popular among folk healers (and not only), it helps get rid of a huge number of different ailments.

The swimsuit has palmately divided leaves, as well as fairly large flowers of a bright yellow type.

It is worth noting one important fact, namely, the plant is extremely poisonous and should be used carefully.

Among other things, it also has excellent decorative qualities and will be an excellent addition to any plot of land. Possessing excellent medicinal properties, it is especially valued as a fairly early honey plant, capable of producing an incredible amount of useful nectar.

Use in folk and traditional medicine

It should be noted right away that the European swimsuit, the fruit of which is distinguished by beneficial properties, is practically not studied at present by traditional medicine, but is actively used by doctors and healers who propose to relieve the patient from a number of complex diseases using the components of this plant.

Recently, the issue of using the European swimsuit as an optimal remedy against malignant tumors has been actively considered. However, the effect of this plant on the human body has not been studied, there is no reliable information regarding the beneficial properties and relevance of its use and indications of a truly impressive treatment effect.

Despite all the indicators of toxicity, the drug is widely used in medicine when a patient observes such signs of internal disorders as liver disease, stomach disease, various tumors, and swelling of varying levels of complexity.

The root of the bathing suit deserves special attention, which is widely used in the form of a tincture for menstrual irregularities and scabies. The relevance of its use by persons suffering from epilepsy, even scurvy, has been proven. Recently, the beneficial properties of flowers have also been used by veterinary medicine, where, thus, problems with the condition of the udder in cows are eliminated.

A few words about contraindications

Before deciding to accept a medical composition, it is necessary to carefully study the description of the European swimsuit and analyze all the pros and cons.

Of course, the fact that swimsuit is a poisonous plant deserves special attention; it is for this reason that both internal and external use of the drug will require incredible caution.

Due to the presence of the toxin, damage to the nervous system is ensured; the use of roots will require attention and caution on the part of both the patient and the doctor (it is important to correctly calculate the dosage and determine the presence of certain factors).

If a person experiences any allergic reactions, the drug should be stopped immediately, otherwise it will only get worse.

It is also prohibited to prescribe the medicinal composition to children; they may experience certain disruptions in body tone, and the likelihood of acne formation increases.

Classification and botanical description

Where does the swimsuit grow?

In the European part of the Russian Federation, the Far East, and Siberia, these are the traditional places where you can find the plant. In particular, on the territory of Russia you can find about 25 different species of this species; the main regions of its germination are the Northern Hemisphere (namely, the cold, temperate zone). For this reason, knowing in which zone the swimsuit lives, you can easily collect it, prepare medicinal preparations and use roots and flowers as universal and practical raw materials.

Visually, the plant has a height of 20-90 centimeters, the rhizome is quite shortened, there is a bunch of additional, adventitious roots.

The leaves are alternate, the flowers are bisexual, solitary, 3-5 centimeters in diameter. All parts of the flowers are arranged strictly in a spiral, with nectarines located between the elements.

Flowering from the plant must be expected in April-May, at which time you should begin collecting components for subsequent preparation. In addition, the plant is actively used in other industries, it is important to take this into account.

The name swimsuit comes from the German word "Trollblume" - troll flower. According to popular belief, these plants were favorites of fairy-tale forest creatures - trolls. According to another version, the name comes from the ancient German word “troll” - a ball, based on the spherical shape of a flower.

The Russian name was given to the plant back in the old days and most likely because its mass flowering occurs on Agrafena-swimsuit (June 23 according to the old style, or July 6 according to the new style), when after a long winter they washed and steamed in the baths and it was time to swim in rivers and lakes. And on June 24, according to the old style, the ancient pagan holiday of Ivan Kupala, or Midsummer's Day, was celebrated. On this day, Kupala, the pagan god of harvest and fertility, was honored. Bright swimsuits blooming everywhere at this time were considered the messengers of Kupala - hence the second version of the origin of the name. This plant has many other popular names - avdotki, frying, lights, bells, beaters, kupavka, kupavnitsa, coachman's grass.

Description of the swimsuit plant

Trollius is a charming herbaceous perennial of the Ranunculaceae family with yellow-orange spherical “roses” on slender leafy shoots.
The swimsuit forms a compact bush 50-100 cm high with erect leafy stems ending in 1-2 large spherical flowers.

The bright spherical flowers of some swimsuits reach a diameter of 7 cm, their faint pleasant aroma resembles the smell of tangerine. They make a wonderful contrast to the green foliage, so they look great against the background of a lush cap of basal, palmately dissected, long-petioled leaves. The spherically closed petal-shaped sepals with a small hole at the top protect the pollen of the flower from dampness, so the swimsuit never bends its flowers. Many stamens and pistils on a convex receptacle are arranged in a spiral. Thanks to the spherical shape of the flower, at night the temperature inside it is 5-6 degrees higher than outside - therefore, insects often spend the night in the flowers of the swimsuit, hiding from the wind, rain and cold.

Varieties

More than 80 species are known, distributed mainly in the temperate climate of the Northern Hemisphere, in the Mediterranean and Scandinavia, Central Russia, Siberia and the Far East, in China. In nature, swimsuits grow in forest belts, mainly on the banks of bodies of water - streams and rivers.

Currently, 19 species and 7 varieties of swimsuits are grown in gardens in Russia and neighboring countries.

Asian swimsuit (T. asiaticus) is a plant with a straight, sometimes branched stem about 70-80 centimeters high, dense green, petiolate, palmately divided leaves located at the base of the stem. The diameter of single orange flowers is about 4 centimeters. Flowering begins in May and continues for 20 days.

In Siberia, this swimsuit is called “zharok”, “light”. Grows in Siberia, the Polar Urals, Central Asia, Mongolia. It is found in light forests, in subalpine and alpine meadows, in the highlands up to an altitude of 2500 m above sea level. The Asian swimmer can be found in meadows near melting snow, where there is a lot of it.

Altai bathhouse (T. altaicus) is a perennial herbaceous plant with an erect stem up to 50 centimeters high. The leaves form a basal rosette. Orange or bright yellow flowers up to 4 centimeters in diameter are arranged singly. Flowering begins in June.

It grows wildly in Altai, Western Siberia and Central Asia, Northern China and Mongolia. It grows along the upper border of the forest belt, in subalpine and alpine meadows. In fir forests, during mass flowering, it creates contrasts of orange and dense green. In Siberia it is called “light” for its bright orange flowers.

Chinese bathhouse (T. chinensis) is a perennial plant with an erect, branched stem up to 80 centimeters high, petiolate, palmately dissected leaves of a rich green color and single yellowish-orange flowers. Flowering begins in June and continues until the end of July.

Ledebour's bathhouse (T. ledebourii) is a perennial herbaceous plant about 70-80 centimeters high with a straight, slightly branched stem, dark green, petiolate, palmately dissected leaves and orange or yellow flowers with a diameter of up to 5 centimeters. Flowering occurs in June.

Dwarf bathhouse (T. pumilus) is a bushy plant 15-30 centimeters high with dark green, long-petiolate, palmately dissected, finely toothed leaves, collected in a basal rosette, from the center of which numerous, usually unbranched, stems grow, each of which bears at the end one large golden -yellow, bright flower. This swimsuit has wide, flat flowers, similar to a large buttercup. The plant blooms in May-June, sometimes July. The fruit is a pod with small seeds in round heads.

Stemless swimsuit (T. acaulis) - a species similar to the previous one, reaches a height of 8-10 centimeters.

European swimsuit (T. europaeus) is a plant up to 50 centimeters high. The leaves are three to fivefold, the lower ones are long-petiolate, up to 3 centimeters in diameter. The flower consists of a relatively large number of pyramidally arranged golden-yellow sepals. Blooms in May-July.

Distributed from the tundra to the steppe zone of Europe, in Western Siberia, and outside Russia in Scandinavia. Previously, the European swimsuit belonged to the common plants of the middle zone, but now, due to extermination for bouquets, it is found less and less often. The characteristic habitats of the European swimmer are the edges of mixed forests, damp forest clearings, and meadows. Swimweed grows en masse among shrubs in mixed-grass meadows.

Cultural bathhouse (T. cultorum) is a generalized name for hybrid garden forms and varieties with large flowers of various colors.

Application

In culture, the bathing suit is used in single and group plantings, for decorating ridges, and also for cutting. Compact varieties are suitable for rock gardens. The swimsuit is also indispensable in landscaping the coastal zone of reservoirs. In small gardens, the bathhouse will harmonize well with brunners and Siberian irises. A combination of golden balls and blue forget-me-nots will also be impressive.

One of the valuable properties of swimsuits is the ability to create unique, long-lasting bouquets. The bouquet is decorative until all the buds completely wither. A bouquet of swimsuits is picturesque and unique.

Before the breakthrough of chemistry in the creation of dyes, the swimsuit was used as a dye plant. In the 19th century, yellow textile paint was prepared from the flowers of the Asian swimsuit. In the middle of the 20th century, the Botanical Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences proposed methods for obtaining a yellow dye for food fats from the flowers of the Asian swimsuit.

An ancient herbalist says that the bathing suit is used outside the tumor, for which the herb is steamed and applied little by little to the swollen area through a rag. An aqueous infusion of the roots is used in small doses for dropsy, epilepsy (falling sickness) and scabies. A water decoction of the herb is drunk for stomach diseases. An ointment prepared from fresh herbs with any fat is used for abscesses.

In Altai, a decoction of flowers is taken for jaundice. In Central Asia, the aerial part of the plant is used for weakened vision. A decoction of leaves and flowers - for abdominal pain. In Yakutia, the swimsuit is used for cardiovascular diseases. Among the Nanais - for epilepsy and as a hemostatic agent. It has an antibacterial effect.

Bathing plant is a meadow plant typical of Russian landscapes. It can be found almost everywhere, especially in damp meadows and forest clearings. The swimsuits come in an endless variety of colors and are beautiful in any weather. Currently, 19 species and 7 varieties of plants are grown in Russia and neighboring countries.

Swimsuit: care and cultivation

  • Despite the fact that in nature swimsuits live in semi-shaded places, it is recommended to grow them in open and illuminated areas in front of trees or shrubs. During growth, flowering and as the soil dries out, swimsuits need to be provided with watering. This plant overwinters well and does not require shelter. It can grow in the same place without transplantation for a long time.
  • Swimsuits are unpretentious, so they do not require special soil when growing. However, light or medium loamy, structural soils with a high humus content are most favorable for cultivation. They grow well in rich, light-textured soils that are close to neutral in acidity. However, swimsuits also grow on soils poor in humus. They benefit from a mixture of leaf soil with peat and sand.
  • The soil under perennial bathing plants is not dug up for a long time and requires weeding. Before planting, it is recommended to clean it from the roots and rhizomes of previously growing plants. The ideal place for planting swimsuits is considered to be low hills or ordinary beds against a background of various stones. For sowing seeds and growing seedlings, it is better to create a lighter soil, the components of which will be peat and sand in combination: 2 parts peat, 2 parts sand, 1 part earth.
  • Caring for swimsuits involves regular watering, weeding and loosening the soil. The depth of loosening should not be more than 5 cm, since the plant has many superficial roots that can be damaged. The soil must be constantly mulched with a layer of peat or humus. For good development, it is necessary to systematically add nutritious soil to the base of the bushes. This plant is moisture-loving, so watering is reduced only in the fall.
  • To get secondary flowering, you need to trim off faded flower stalks.
  • All types of swimsuits are quite frost-resistant, so there is no need to cover them in winter. In a permanent place, they can grow for up to 10 years or more, after which it is advisable to divide the curtain and transplant it to a new place. The leaves of the bathing suit are decorative throughout the growing season. If you cut off leaves that have not completed the growing season, this will significantly weaken the bud and you will not get a developed peduncle next year.

Bathing suit: diseases and pests

Bathing plants are strong and viable plants that are practically not damaged by disease. For better crop condition, early spring treatment with ash and fertilizing with nitrogen and complex fertilizers are recommended. At the beginning of flowering, it is necessary to spray the bathing suit with epin (10 drops per 1 liter of water).

To prevent fungal diseases, remove old dead leaves in the fall. In rare cases, swimmers can be affected by smut, septoria and penetrating nematodes.

Swimsuit: reproduction

The plant can reproduce in different ways: division, cuttings and seeds. Seeds are sown immediately after collection or before winter in the ground or boxes. During sowing in spring, seed stratification is necessary for 3 - 4 months at a temperature of 2 - 4 degrees. Seedlings appear in the spring. Friendly shoots appear in mid-May. They need watering when the soil dries out and shading. After the appearance of the 2nd true leaf, the seedlings dive at a distance of 8 - 10 cm from each other. Swimsuits can be planted in a permanent place from the spring of the 2nd year or at 3 - 4 years.

European swimsuit blooms in the 2nd year after germination. It can usually be found in Europe and Western Siberia. It forms a bush: the lower leaves form a basal rosette. The leaves are palmate in shape, with 5 lobes serrated along the edge. In the upper part, the stem of the European swimmer can branch. The flowers are spherical, dense and with a pleasant aroma, usually yellow. Flowering begins in late May - early June and lasts about 4 weeks. The seeds ripen in July; it is better to sow them freshly harvested or before winter in open ground in a specially designated shaded place. When the seedlings grow a little, they need to be planted, leaving a distance of about 10 cm between the plants. Next spring, the young seedlings can be planted in a permanent place in the flowerbed. They will bloom this year.

Asian swimsuit forms a powerful bush up to 80 cm high. Outwardly, it resembles the European swimsuit, only its flowers are more open and orange-red in color. Some buds have a terry shape. The Asian swimsuit blooms in late May - early June. It depends on the growing area. The best way to propagate the plant is through seeds.

There is also a method of vegetative propagation. It occurs by dividing the clump or separating several peripheral shoots from an adult plant along with the roots. It is best to divide in late August - early September, when the shoots have already formed in the buds and there is time before winter for them to take root.

The mother plant is dug up, the soil is shaken off from the roots and washed well. Next, divide it with a knife into several parts. The size of the planting units can be arbitrary. It is important that each of them has several rosette shoots with roots. The surface of the cuts is treated with a solution of potassium permanganate or ash. Make sure that the sections do not dry out.

Plants need to be planted quickly; for this purpose, the planting sites are prepared in advance. When planting, the root collar is deepened by 2 cm, maintaining a planting distance of 30 - 40 cm.

Young ground shoots that appear in spring and summer rosettes with part of the underground stem are taken for cuttings. They respond well to fertilizing with mineral fertilizers.
