Therefore, I suggest that you consider the different types of bathroom tiles and their features, which will help you decide on the choice of finishing material for the bathroom.

Coating options

Ordinary tile is a classic finishing material that is known to everyone. Therefore, we will not consider it. Next, I will tell you what kind of tile is now in fashion in addition to ordinary ceramics:

Option 1: glass

Lovers of modern and original interiors can recommend, first of all, glass tiles. This material is made of durable tempered glass. To improve its decorative qualities, so-called silencers are added to the composition, which give the surface some heterogeneity, and dyes.

The material most often has a rectangular shape, which is mounted in bricks. But if you wish, you can find a square, round or hexagonal tile. In addition, you can purchase a small mosaic. Sometimes various images are laid out on the wall with it.

• UV resistance. Dyes and patterns are not afraid of exposure to sunlight, as a result of which they retain their brightness for many years. In addition, since they are located on the back side, they are not afraid of exposure to detergents;
• Durability. Glass bathroom tile, if cared for, can last for decades;

• Hygiene. Unlike ceramics, it has a dense non-porous structure.

For bonding glass materials, conventional cement-based tile adhesive cannot be used. For these purposes, it is necessary to use a special adhesive, for example, Litoacril Plus.

Minuses. Among the shortcomings, the high cost of coverage can be distinguished.

Option 2: vinyl

An interesting solution is to finish the bathroom with polyvinyl chloride, or PVC materials. I must say that the concept of "PVC tiles" often means two different materials:

• Floor flexible (art vinyl). Despite the fact that this product is intended for the floor, it can be glued with your own hands on the walls or even on the ceiling;

• Plastic lining. These are ordinary plastic panels that visually resemble tiles. This coating can only be called a tile conditionally. Therefore, further we will talk about art vinyl.

Advantages. Plastic tiles for the bathroom are no less practical than glass tiles - they are even more resistant to mechanical stress, while being hygienic and durable. In addition, the material has many other positive qualities:

• Large selection of designs. The image is applied by photo printing, so the product can imitate any natural materials, be it wood, natural travertine stone or others.

• Not slippery. If you lay this covering on the floor, then you can be sure that you will not slip;
• Flexibility. Thanks to this, it is possible to finish not only even, but also curved surfaces;
• Ease of installation. The installation instructions for the coating are quite simple, most often liquid nails are used to glue it.

Disadvantages. There are no downsides to the material. The only thing is that its lifespan is about 10 years. Ceramics and glass last longer.

Option 3: 3D

Embossed bathroom tiles look stylish in any bathroom interiors. It is also called three-dimensional.

I must say that embossed panels include a whole group of different coatings, which include:

• Ceramic. Ceramic textured tiles look very unusual and interesting. The only thing is that you need to choose the right one for the style of the interior.

If, for example, the interior is decorated in a classic style, rhombus tiles, which visually resemble soft upholstery, will look great.

In a marine style, it is better to use a coating painted with waves. If the interior is decorated in any of the modern styles, you can use a coating with patterns in the form of abstraction;

• bamboo panels. Differ in larger sizes and deep relief. In addition, this material is usually seamless, which allows you to create a continuous embossed surface.

Three D bamboo panels are made from pressed wood shavings. Since it is a natural material of plant origin, in terms of moisture resistance it is inferior to ceramics and glass. Therefore, it is not advisable to glue it in close proximity to plumbing fixtures;

• Plastic panels. Visually they are not inferior to bamboo and ceramic ones, but at the same time they are cheaper and completely not afraid of moisture, they are easy to clean.
