There is no classic composition as such. After all, a real mojito contains rum. Our modest rum cocktail only has a name and some ingredients in common. I will take the liberty of presenting as classic the composition and proportions of the components that I like best.

Ingredients

My comments

Often in non-alcoholic mojito recipes you can find sweet carbonated drinks - Sprite and Schweppes. I absolutely do not recommend using them! In addition to the huge amount of sugar, they also contain many harmful chemicals that are not compatible with the concept of a healthy diet.

Sprite contains sodium benzoate, a substance very harmful to the body, sometimes leading to neurodegenerative diseases and cirrhosis of the liver. Sodium benzoate can also accumulate in our body. Schweppes contains an equally harmful substance - quinine, which causes vomiting, hearing impairment, and dizziness in many.

When people ask me how and what to make a non-alcoholic mojito at home, I most often answer: “From plain soda, lime juice, ice, a tiny amount of sugar and mint leaves.”

If you don’t have a siphon for making soda on your household, then make simple soda water: dissolve a quarter teaspoon of soda in a glass of clean water and stir. Pour soda into a glass intended for making non-alcoholic mojitos immediately before drinking.

Non-alcoholic mojito at home - a simple recipe

The simplest recipe with a minimum of ingredients. If you are planning a party, you need to make the required amount of ice in advance, squeeze out the juice from a lime or lemon, prepare soda, and stock up on the right amount of sugar and mint.

Ingredients

  • half a medium lime;
  • 80 - 100 g ice;
  • five fresh mint leaves;

  1. Wash the lime thoroughly with warm water and a brush, using regular baking soda, and rinse with very cold water. Cut into small pieces along with the skin.

Ingredients

  • 120 - 130 g fresh or frozen strawberries;
  • half a lime or lemon;
  • four to five basil leaves;
  • four to five large mint leaves;
  • one teaspoon of sugar or honey to taste;
  • 80 g ice;
  • 120 - 130 ml of soda.

How to cook

Sort the fresh strawberries without removing the stems and wash them very thoroughly.

Knead it. Strawberries can be used both fresh and frozen (Irina’s blog has a detailed article). It doesn't have to be completely defrosted. Enough so that it is suitable for kneading and mixing.

Wash the basil and mint under running water, pick them with your hands, and place them in a wide glass. Grind with a wooden spoon or pestle.

Squeeze the juice from a lime or lemon, place the lemon pieces in a glass with the basil and mint, and grind.

Add sugar or honey and grind again.

Pour about 120 - 130 ml of soda over the strawberries and stir.

Strain the mixture through a sieve.

Put some ice on it.

Pour in the strained liquid and add strawberry, lime or lemon slices. Serve with a straw. Additionally, add a small strawberry scoop to each glass.

My comments

  • I couldn’t find lime anywhere, so I made a mojito with lemon. It turned out great!
  • The taste is very refreshing and delicate. The combination of strawberries and basil, which has long been a classic, “sounds great” here in the company of meadow mint, which grows wildly in my garden.

  • 120-130 ml of soda or mineral water of low mineralization.

How to do

  1. Wash the mint in cool water, shake off, tear into pieces, and place in a suitable glass.
  2. Squeeze lime or lemon juice there and cut the rest into small pieces.
  3. Add sugar or honey and grind everything thoroughly with a wooden spoon or pestle. The aroma will be stunning!
  4. Place the frozen blackcurrants in a blender bowl, add soda, and process until a liquid mass is obtained. Leave a few beautiful berries whole.
  5. Strain the resulting liquid through a strainer into a separate bowl.
  6. Pour ice into a glass, add whole berries, add liquid, and garnish with a sprig of mint.

My comments

  • Great option! The taste is piercing, rich, very noble. The aroma is beyond praise.
  • Next time, if I can get my hands on an exotic citrus fruit, I’ll try to make a batch of chopped lime and sugar for future use. In this case, instead of sugar, you can add the resulting syrup to your mojito to taste.

Non-alcoholic mojito with red currants and assorted mint

Instructions

Wash the lime, divide into two halves, each half into four wedges. Wash and dry the mint, separate the leaves from the stems, put the mint, eight wedges of lime, 10 grams of sugar in a mortar and mash with a pestle so that the lime and mint release juice and the sugar dissolves. Place crushed mint and lime in a glass, fill it to the top with crushed ice, add 80 milliliters of rum, add tonic, stir and pour into glasses.

Take a tall glass, wash and finely chop the mint, wash and cut half a lime into slices, put the mint and lime in the glass, add sugar, mash thoroughly. Pour finely crushed ice into a glass and add soda water, stir. Place three mint leaves on the surface of the drink, place a semicircular slice of lime on the straw, and insert the straw into the glass.

Place mint leaves on top and crush a little to release the mint aroma. Fill the glass 1/3 full with ice. Ideally, it should be crumbs, but if you don’t have it, you can use it. Add rum and soda water. Garnish the glass with a slice of lime and a mint leaf.

Strawberry mojito

Add a few strawberries to the glass along with the lime and mint. Pour in the sugar syrup and use a spoon to crush all the ingredients (ideally). Fill the glass to the top with ice. Pour in rum and soda. Stir gently with a cocktail spoon. Garnish with strawberries and a sprig of mint.

Royal mojito

A wine glass is used for this. Place mint leaves in it, squeeze out a little lime juice and throw in the peels. Fill the glass to the top with ice. Pour in sugar syrup, rum and dry sparkling wine. Stir gently with a cocktail spoon and add more ice on top. Garnish the glass with a slice of lime and a few mint leaves.

Mojito sangria

  • brown sugar three quarters of a glass;
  • mint to taste;
  • lemon - 1 pc.;

Syrup is prepared from sugar and water, so you should start cooking with it. Mix sugar with water and bring to a boil, it is important that the sugar is completely dissolved.
