Books enlighten the soul, elevate and strengthen a person, awaken in him the best aspirations, sharpen his mind and soften his heart.

William Thackeray, English satirist

A book is a huge force.

Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, Soviet revolutionary

Without books, we can now neither live, nor fight, nor suffer, nor rejoice and win, nor confidently move towards that reasonable and beautiful future in which we unshakably believe.

Many thousands of years ago, the book, in the hands of the best representatives of humanity, became one of the main weapons in their struggle for truth and justice, and it was this weapon that gave these people terrible strength.

Nikolai Rubakin, Russian bibliologist, bibliographer.

A book is a working tool. But not only. It introduces people to the lives and struggles of other people, makes it possible to understand their experiences, their thoughts, their aspirations; it makes it possible to compare, understand the environment and transform it.

Stanislav Strumilin, academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences

There is no better way to refresh the mind than to read the ancient classics; As soon as you take one of them in your hands, even for half an hour, you immediately feel refreshed, lightened and cleansed, lifted and strengthened, as if you had refreshed yourself by bathing in a clean spring.

Arthur Schopenhauer, German philosopher

Anyone who was not familiar with the creations of the ancients lived without knowing beauty.

Georg Hegel, German philosopher

No failures of history and blind spaces of time are able to destroy human thought, enshrined in hundreds, thousands and millions of manuscripts and books.

Konstantin Paustovsky, Russian Soviet writer

The book is a magician. The book transformed the world. It contains the memory of the human race, it is the mouthpiece of human thought. A world without a book is a world of savages.

Nikolai Morozov, creator of modern scientific chronology

Books are a spiritual testament from one generation to another, advice from a dying old man to a young man beginning to live, an order passed on to a sentry going on vacation to a sentry taking his place.

Without books, human life is empty. The book is not only our friend, but also our constant, eternal companion.

Demyan Bedny, Russian Soviet writer, poet, publicist

A book is a powerful tool of communication, labor, and struggle. It equips a person with the experience of life and struggle of humanity, expands his horizon, gives him knowledge with the help of which he can force the forces of nature to serve him.

Nadezhda Krupskaya, Russian revolutionary, Soviet party, public and cultural figure.

Reading good books is a conversation with the best people of past times, and, moreover, such a conversation when they tell us only their best thoughts.

René Descartes, French philosopher, mathematician, physicist and physiologist

Reading is one of the sources of thinking and mental development.

Vasily Sukhomlinsky, an outstanding Soviet teacher-innovator.

Reading is for the mind what physical exercise is for the body.

Joseph Addison, English poet and satirist

A good book is like a conversation with an intelligent person. The reader receives from her knowledge and a generalization of reality, the ability to understand life.

Alexei Tolstoy, Russian Soviet writer and public figure

Do not forget that the most colossal weapon of multifaceted education is reading.

Alexander Herzen, Russian publicist, writer, philosopher

Without reading there is no real education, there is and cannot be any taste, no speech, no multifaceted breadth of understanding; Goethe and Shakespeare are equal to a whole university. By reading a person survives centuries.

Alexander Herzen, Russian publicist, writer, philosopher

Description: Homer, Sophocles, Euripides, Virgil...
They wrote a lot of words about the Trojan War, but at the end of the twenty-first century, human technology has stepped so far forward that television viewers can see the events of bygone days with their own eyes.
The mighty Hector, the invulnerable Achilles, the cunning Odysseus, the power-hungry Agamemnon, the unlucky Menelaus, the beautiful Helen, the loving Paris, Greater and Lesser Ajax, Aeneas the Founder and the elderly Priam became the heroes of the highest-grossing reality show in the history of television. However, during the filming process, unforeseen circumstances arise, and the story of the great confrontation can go completely wrong...

Add. information: Sergei Musanif is considered one of the most mysterious authors. In recent years, many of his books have been published, which are actively sold and discussed, but the “About the author” section always remains empty. The last information about him on the Internet dates back to 2002. And even then, it only talks about the fact that Musanif writes in different genres - from humorous fantasy to cool, combat science fiction. At the same time, Musanif publishes several books a year. Let’s take as an example one of the most fruitful periods – 2006. Then the books “About People and Hippopotamuses”, “Guard”, “The Dark Side of the Coin”, “Chronicle of the Third Crisis”, “In the Name of the Rating” were published.
Until 2010, Sergei Musanif, apparently, wrote his books alone (well, or with assistants who preferred to remain anonymous), and in 2010 and 2011 the works “Maneuvers of Losers” and “Chance for Losers”, written by co-authored with Roman Zlotnikov. No matter how encrypted the author is, he cannot hide from reader criticism. And she, I must say, is very tough. Musanif is accused of plagiarism, and simply of unoriginality of the plots, and of the fact that he does not develop the plots properly. Among his best works, as a rule, is called “Guard”. But no matter how much they scold Musanif, they still read him and, it seems, love him. This will probably continue for a very long time.

Neither numerous separations, nor terrible shocks, nor even death could make Daniel forget about her. But exactly when...

I didn't expect that. I didn't expect it at all. I heard that Musanif writes well, so I was hoping for a not entirely wretched story about a misfit (more precisely, a misfit) in literary terms. Well, what else can you think about a book from a humorous series?

I was very glad to be wrong. The book is serious, well-researched, well-written and at the same time very interesting. Judging by its beginning, the author himself did not know how deep it would turn out. No, really. A retired special agent killer who retired at just 30 years old because he had already eliminated his 50 targets. Moreover, psychologists prohibit it. Recruitment by a private individual is banal for a certain type of literature. But then... This same special agent is thrown through a time hole during the Trojan War, where thousands of mini-cameras disguised as flies have long been filming a TV series (in fact, a reality show). Why a special agent? But I can’t photograph Olympus, no matter how hard I try. Well, off we go.

Do you want to know what it was like “in reality”? Read. The events of the Iliad, their background and possible consequences are presented in simple language, and not tediously with multi-page lectures and monologues, but gradually, vividly, brightly and unobtrusively. Great heroes - Achilles, Hector, Ajax, Helen and Paris, Agamemnon, Patroclus and Menelaus, etc. and so on. - everything turned out to be a solid A. There is a fair amount of material to write about and the book is not intended for an unprepared reader. Moreover, I would recommend the 16+ bar.

A huge plus of the novel is its several interconnected plot lines. With equal interest, I read about modern TV shows and the work of the chrono machine, the development of the Trojan campaign and, of course, the vicissitudes of the main character. The ending is somewhat unexpected, but predetermined from the beginning. I think the book was generally written according to the principle of a detective story, where the writer first comes up with a denouement, and then, keeping it in his head all the time, he writes the main text. So the novel doesn’t even contain the scary bush pianos that abound in this kind of literature. Well, maybe GG is incredibly cool, but that’s an axiom of the game.

Well, for the sweet moral. It's not just adventure for the sake of adventure. There is a lot to think about in the book. For example, “man is the architect of his own misfortune,” “don’t make an idol for yourself,” “turn off the TV and get your ass off the couch,” etc. Yes, it’s corny, but how well presented!

P.S. I always felt sorry for the Trojans in Homeric history. Those who have already read Musanif will understand this remark.

Rating: 8

Read Musanif, read it like that! The novel “In the Name of Rating” delighted me. The story of the Trojan War, which a media man decided to turn into a reality show, and the consequences that this led to, did not leave me indifferent for a moment. It seems that the author dreamed of the same thing that I dreamed of, and also from early childhood:

1. Punch Achilles in the teeth and finish off the invulnerable bastard, who for some misunderstanding is called a hero.

2. Give victory to the Trojans and the most normal of the heroes - Hector.

3. And destroy the Roman Empire, and even from the very beginning, so that it would not even be created.

Although... not all of them are like that... Maybe they will fight back?

Rating: 9

The end of the 21st century. Scientists managed to open a time portal to the past, right before the Trojan War. The owner of the television empire, Mr. Cartwright, decided to take full advantage of the achievement of science. Mini-cameras masquerading as flies and retired intelligence services superagent Colonel Travis have been sent back into the past. The greatest show of all time, Troy, is about to air...

The book left me with mixed impressions. On the one hand, no original ideas of our own (filming in the past from Garrison’s “Fantastic Saga”, rebellion against the gods from Simmons’ “Ilion”, gods from Gaiman’s “American Gods”, I’m not talking about “Iliad and Odyssey”). On the other hand, this whole vinaigrette is presented quite cleverly, with a shock ending, so that after reading it you don’t even want to look for mistakes and inconsistencies. But here are some that lie on the surface and you don’t even need to look for them. Why did Dan remember the real past when everyone else forgot it? Why was Travis able to harm Apollo when there were thousands of people around who believed in the Olympians? The language of the novel is poor, but not clumsy, the brain does not stumble over phrases, this is how scripts and plays are read (a minimum of descriptions, no literary flourishes and a lot of dialogue). It seemed that the author, in the process of writing the novel, was constantly changing his opinion about what he was actually writing. Therefore, the narrative turned out to be very uneven, absurd in places and with subtle humor, although the frivolity of what was happening was set from the prologue by the description of Travis’s retirement routine and the caricature of Cartwright, who has the president on errands. Not to mention the fact that the existence of televisions, television empires and reality shows at the end of the century is highly doubtful.

Rating: 6

This is the kind of fantasy we welcome! Otherwise, the characters from German-Scandinavian mythology have already filled the imagination. The Trojan War is our answer! And we will deal not with the spirits of the earth (elves) or the underground people (gnomes), but with the stern and legendary Greek gods and no less legendary people of antiquity. Do you think you know how the famous war will end? Well, its participants may not agree with you - each of them has their own plans.

Seriously, a very exciting piece of work. It did not avoid some historical and investigative mistakes, but nevertheless this does not spoil it much. The characters are not without brightness and individuality, and I, who don’t know much, encouraged the Trojan legend to expand my knowledge, which is (in my opinion) a tangible plus of the book.)) And one more thing. Somewhere a few months after reading the book, I found the audio version, I can’t help but note the highest professionalism of its execution - the music and the reader’s voice are perfectly selected and mixed on the topic, creating the feeling of a radio play. In short, I recommend both reading and listening.

Rating: 8

Looks like Musanif needs to be read all the time. This is the third book, taken at random, and I am delighted with it. The style, direct speech and plot structure fully correspond to my views. I like the absence of snot and other love dregs in the author’s individual novels, and he doesn’t bother about the notorious mental anguish of his heroes. Those heroes with whom I have already become acquainted in the books I have read are quite adequate people without cockroaches. In the book *In the Name of Rating* GG is quite a self-sufficient man, capable of not only standing up for himself, but also for the people as a whole. Finding himself in the past, he quickly assessed all the aspects of the conflict that had begun between people and the gods and was able to find himself in line with the main events of the Trojan War. A very successful alternative story with an incredible ending was created by Sergei Musanif. Praise to the author!
