DIY ultrasonic humidifier. How to make a DIY ultrasonic humidifier The reverse side of the moon cover

An inflamed mucous membrane, a drying nasopharynx, and sometimes even a cough are all possible variants of the human body's reaction to too dry air. In very hot weather under a powerful air conditioner, during dry periods, and most importantly, during the heating season, many of us suffer from similar symptoms, and today I will talk about a simple and fairly budgetary way to deal with them: we will make a homemade ultrasonic humidifier! Do it yourself!

Or maybe buy a ready-made one?

Yes, you can, of course, buy such a device in a store - but they really cost a lot of money there, their durability is questionable, and maintainability tends to zero. Their only advantage is their appearance, although the vast majority of budget models and some more expensive models still look like cheap Chinese crafts, that is, they do not really have this advantage. The prices of commercial humidifiers start at $ 25, and the models for this money are so weak that I generally doubt whether they have any effect from their work. 100 ml of water per hour, seriously? I think if you pour water into a container and put this case on a battery, you will have more water to evaporate. 200-300 ml of water per hour is the minimum indicator to be guided by.

Types of humidifiers

You decide to buy a humidifier, or you are still going to make it yourself - be that as it may, first you need to figure out what kind of humidifier they are. They are of three types:

  • Cold steam
  • Hot steam
  • Ultrasonic

In general, I had an idea (I also already implemented it!) To install a water block on the processor, make a radiator out of an aluminum tube and lower it into this trough - in this way the heat from the hot, overclocked Intel Core i5 2500k would be transferred by the coolant to this radiator, and , accordingly, it would heat the water in the trough, increasing the rate of its evaporation and cooling the processor. By a similar principle, air humidifiers of the second type, that is, "hot steam", work, only instead of a heating element there is not a four-core processor, but a real heating element or some other electric heater. Thus, such humidifiers have a much higher performance, but they also consume electricity, respectively, decently. Naturally, in this case, there can be no question of any side cooling of the room.

But there is also a third type of air humidifier, which combines the efficiency of the first type and the performance of the second type - ultrasonic! It works simply - a special ultrasonic plate vibrates at a very high frequency, forcing the water above it to vibrate, from the surface of which, due to this, small drops, similar to fog, get knocked down. That is why such humidifiers and the working elements themselves are called "fog generators". This is the type of humidifier I suggest you assemble yourself! But I'll tell you right away about one small detail.

The main disadvantage of an ultrasonic air humidifier

Yes, not everything is perfect with him. The fact is that the first two types of humidifiers evaporate more or less naturally, that is, no matter how clean the water you pour into the tank, only pure water will evaporate. That is, all salts, lime, iron and other bad impurities that many usually remain on the walls of teapots will remain in the humidifier, it can be washed and it will continue to work. With an ultrasonic humidifier (and sellers often do not mention this), this trick will not work - you only need to fill them with clean water. And when I say "clean" I do not mean any filters of the "jug" type, into which you pour water from above and it slowly flows by gravity into the lower reservoir - they do not provide the required degree of purification, although they make the water much more suitable for use. No, for such humidifiers only the purest water is needed, from a filter with a reverse osmosis system. (Well, or buy distilled water, but, IMHO, this is nonsense)

Seriously, if you still don't have such a filter, be sure to get one, and I know it's not cheap. Fail on the humidifier: you have a bigger problem.

Why is it so important to pour clean water into it? The thing is that in such humidifiers, in fact, there is no evaporation of water - it is simply thrown out with a fine mist, and this fog gradually evaporates, the water from it is, as it were, absorbed into the air, moistening it. And all the impurities - no, they just settle on the surfaces adjacent to the humidifier, covering them with a whitish coating. And some of this shit may remain in the air you breathe (I'm not sure about that, but as an option). Do you need it? Of course not! Therefore, if you have nowhere to take water for an ultrasonic humidifier, make an evaporative one, or buy one. Better buy a damn filter! Health is more expensive!

Yes, and from dirty water deposits will be deposited, I think, on the generator itself, which will negatively affect its service life.

Have you changed your mind yet? Then let's continue!

Main components of the humidifier

Ultrasonic fog generators

This, one might say, is the heart of the humidifier, because these guys do the main work. In general, you can do with one, but then you will almost not be able to adjust the power of the device: the fan speed does not affect the rate of water evaporation, and reducing the voltage on the generator greatly reduces its efficiency, so I took two generators on Aliexpress - one weaker, for $ 2.5 , and one more powerful, for $ 7 (). That is, I can turn on either one or both at once and thus regulate the performance of the device. I must say right away that this black shit, which is higher in the photo, is better not to take it: it works strangely, it glitches, sometimes it just gets cut down. Take only those like the lower one in a metal case. For six months of use, he did not cause absolutely no complaints. Over time, I will replace the black with the same shiny one.

Power supplies

The main problem is finding 24 volts to power the generators. Each of them consumes about 500mA. You can buy generators with power supplies right away, but I decided to make my own power supply, I'll talk about it another time. The people in the comments on Alishka write that they normally work from laptop power supplies (which are mostly at 19 volts): I tried, they suck, they work from such power supplies, at least 30 percent weaker, or even 40 percent. So this is not an option.

You also need 5-12 volts for the cooler and decorative lighting if you need it. In general, the cooler is 12 volts, but it should not spin very quickly, so you can simply pick up a five-volt power supply for it and, I think, this will be just the right speed. My rotation speed is adjustable, I will tell you about this in the article about the power supply.

Cooler

Well, the fan is understandable, you have to run the air through the device! I have a bunch of old, dead PC PSUs, so 120mm is an obvious choice. An eighties would be much more noisy, while creating a weaker airflow, so I cannot recommend them. I have a very sensitive sleep, and if something is noisy in the room, it is difficult for me to fall asleep. I sleep well with such a cooler.

If you do not have such a cooler and you will buy it - take it at 24 volts right away, it will be easier with the connection!

Also, a decorative grill on the fan will not hurt: both beautiful and safe. I took mine (the one in the photo) from a dead FSP Epsilon 700W power supply.

Capacity

This is the most painful question. The reservoir should be ... And you yourself decide what it should be in order to fit well into your interior. I found an excellent transparent container with a lid in a hardware store (X Square / KSK) (this is important). It cost, of course, a lot: $ 15, but what to do, it is necessary - then it is necessary!

Floating platform for generators

Sounds serious, but really nothing complicated. The point is that for optimal fog generation, the generators must be located at the correct fixed depth so that they rise / fall based on the water level in the condom.

For the base, I took a flat piece of foam, which was previously the lid of the foam box in which the Chinese sent me a touchscreen for Nokia. Since the generators must be completely submerged in the water, some kind of adapters are needed between them and the floating platform. For small ones, I used a plastic cup, and for large ones, as you can clearly see in the photo, the neck of a plastic bottle. In the foam platform, I cut holes of the required diameter, inserted generators with adapters there and sealed everything with hot melt glue.

Nozzle

Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything better for the role of a nozzle than a liter PET bottle from the delicious Aktual drink. Well, damn it, there is something better - I will definitely put it, but for now, it's okay. As a bonus, you can screw on top of the plugs with different nozzles to direct the flow in a certain direction or give it some shape (I wonder if you can twist it into a spiral?)

Well, it seems, and all the main components, it's time to move on to the assembly!

Assembling the ultrasonic humidifier

Installing the fan (intake manifold)

To begin with, I chose a place in the lid for installing the fan, marked the hole and cut it out with the help of such a homemade cutter from a hacksaw blade:

It allows you to make even, neat cuts without breaking or crumbling the cut material, I recommend! By the way, cutting with such a cutter is half the battle, you also need to break it out carefully: as you can see in the photo, cracks started in the cooler area, because I did not calculate the forces after cutting, and messed up a little. I had to seal it with cyanoacrylate. Moral: even if a handshake like me succeeds, then most of you will succeed even more! The main desire!

After cutting the hole, I attached the cooler to it and glued it around the perimeter with my favorite hot melt glue:

As you can see in the photo, I also glued the rubber cap on the motor shaft, having previously added "spindles" and a line with wires there. Sounds like a highway! Well, you get the idea.

Installing the nozzle (exhaust manifold)

The principle is the same, except that it is not necessary to cut straight along the contour of the bottle - I just cut out a square hole, cut off the bottom of the bottle at a slight angle and glued it on top of the hot melt glue:

Reverse side of the moon cover

On the back side of the lid, I installed two more parts: a plastic screen for the cooler so that the generators do not splash water on it and it is dry and an emphasis for the platform so that it floats only at the outlet edge of the container, and not over its entire area:

The screen for the cooler, of course, does not extend to the full width, otherwise, with a high water level, the air flow would have nowhere to pass, and it is also slightly bent at the end. In short, with this configuration, the fan does not receive any splashes or anything else that often gets on the fans. As you probably guessed, I used hot melt here too.

Generator Power Cable Entry

All fog generators come with cables that have small rubber plugs, for which I cut two round holes on top of the case and again, glued everything with hot glue so that nothing leaks, because better to overdo it than, excuse me, to underdo it.

Launch

Here, in fact, is the whole assembly. It's time to launch! We fill in water, close the lid, apply voltage to the cooler and generators and voila, the system works!

Foam platform - like a float, holds the fog machines at the desired depth:

And the body of the ultrasonic humidifier is filled with a pleasant mist:

This is such a powerful stream that my humidifier gives out at full power (when both generators are running):

Conclusion

That's all, it's done! With such a humidifier, the problem of dry air in the apartment disappears forever. Your plants will no longer dry out the tips of the leaves! Your mucous membrane will no longer be inflamed: now you will live in harmony and comfort!

And finally

The humidifier will need to be washed periodically (once every couple of weeks) with soap. although you pour clean water into it, the air is driven through it unpurified, and over time bacteria will multiply in the water. Therefore, all electrical connections must be on connectors so that you can safely take all this to the bathroom and there you can wash.

Avoid stagnant water! When not in use, drain and rinse the device. Keep it dry.

You can try to throw in a container a couple of silver coins or something other silver, because silver has antibacterial properties. Honestly: I haven't checked it, I have to test it.

Important! Symptoms alone cannot conclude that you have dry air in your room! For this there is a device - a hygrometer, if you do not have one - you can buy it at Alishka, there are good models of thermometers with hygrometers up to $ 5. For example, this is what I use:

The dispersing effect of ultrasound on liquids has been known for a long time. As early as 1927, Wood and Loomis described the phenomenon of fog formation above the surface of volatile liquids in a glass vessel immersed in an ultrasonic field. The development of the technique of obtaining fogs was the use of devices for focusing ultrasonic energy in the plane of separation of the liquid and gaseous phases.

Ultrasonic nebulizers have a high performance of spraying liquids - up to 3 g / min, a smooth change in the performance of spraying, the formation of an aerosol with a narrow predetermined spectrum of particle sizes, which contributes to the deposition of the bulk of particles in specified areas of the patient's respiratory tract. For example, coarse suspensions with a particle diameter of more than 30 microns are deposited in the upper part of the trachea, particles with a diameter of 10 microns reach the bronchi, aerosols with a particle diameter of 3 to 0.5 microns can penetrate into the alveoli. The possibility of targeted deposition of aerosols is particularly beneficial in the treatment of chronic lung diseases. Ultrasonic nebulizers produce aerosols with a high particle density, which helps to achieve the best therapeutic effect. The absence of an extraneous carrier gas during aerosol generation is especially advisable when performing mechanical ventilation with devices with volume or frequency switching, since under these conditions the specified ventilation parameters are not violated. The absence of foreign carrier gas maintains the target composition of the inhaled gas.

All models of ultrasonic nebulizers, a simplified diagram of which is shown in Fig. 29, have a spray chamber (1), a sound-permeable membrane (2) and an ultrasonic generator (3). In the piezoelectric converter of the generator, electrical energy is converted into mechanical vibrations, the frequency of which is in the ultrasound range. High-frequency vibrations coming from the ultrasonic head through the contact water enter the sound-permeable membrane, over which the liquid in the chamber is dispersed. The use of metering taps, pumps or droppers ensures that the amount of liquid to be dispersed is precisely dosed.

Fig. 29. Ultrasonic nebulizer (diagram). Explanation in the text.

In ultrasonic nebulizers, there is a direct relationship between the particle size of the generated aerosol and the vibration frequency. The higher the vibration frequency, the smaller the particle diameter. At an oscillation frequency of 1 MHz, the particle size is on average 5 µm, at a frequency of 5 MHz - 1 µm. The ultrasonic nebulizers used generate particles ranging in size from 0.5 to 4 microns.

The Swedish researchers Herzog, Norlandcr and Engstrom (1964) used ultrasonic nebulizers for mechanical ventilation for the first time, using them in conjunction with the "Engstrom-respirator ER-200".

The enterprise "TUR" (Dresden, GDR) has created ultrasonic and individual use inhalers USI-2, USI-3, USI-50. As our experience has shown, they can be successfully applied for aerosol therapy and for humidifying breathing mixtures with controlled or auxiliary ventilation.

The schematic diagram of ultrasonic inhalers of the "USI" type is similar to that described above. To connect the nebulization chamber of the inhalers to the ventilator, the inhalation and exhalation valves are removed from it. The parts of the inhalation hose are connected to the vacated nozzles in such a way that the nebulizer is "in the cut" of the inhalation hose, in the path of the inhaled gas mixture. During the inhalation phase, the gas passes through the spray chamber and carries the aerosol along with it. The level of the liquid to be dispersed in the chamber is constantly maintained by the flow of liquid from the reservoir. The USI-50 nebulizer can heat the inhaled gas up to 30 - 32 ° C.

With ultrasonic atomization, due to the extremely high density of aerosols, airway resistance increases and the oxygen concentration in the inhaled mixture decreases. In case of mechanical ventilation with hyperoxic breathing mixtures, these undesirable effects become irrelevant. However, there remains the possibility of damage to the lungs with prolonged waterlogging. Excessive "flushing" of the lungs leads to loss of surfactant, deterioration of compliance, interstitial edema and alveolar membrane changes. It is also necessary to take into account the effect of moisture on the general water balance of the patient. With the help of an ultrasonic nebulizer, the water content in the body can be increased by more than 200 ml daily. In cases where the maintenance of water balance is critical (as, for example, in renal failure), such an unforeseen "discharge" can lead to serious complications in the patient. The same factor should be taken into account when ventilating newborns and young children.

Dry air in living quarters is the absolute of discomfort and one of the root causes of poor health. But you should not rush to buy expensive equipment if you have the time and resources to make the simplest humidifier yourself, moreover, as a highly efficient compact device.

Difference from a steam generator

There are two types of household humidifiers. Some work by increasing the evaporation area, others by heating the liquid to form steam. In both cases, the evaporation of water occurs naturally; today we will not talk about steam generators.

Most modern household appliances use a piezo emitter - a plate vibrating at an ultrasonic frequency. The principle of evaporation is as follows: water breaks down into very small particles, a finely dispersed suspension, which cannot "stick" back together and continue to exist in the form of water vapor. The advantage of dispersed humidifiers is low energy consumption and almost complete absence of scale in the device itself, which affects its durability.

Household Ultrasonic Air Humidifier

Body parts

The water tank is an ordinary three-liter jar. It will evaporate completely in 6-8 hours, if you need more, use five-liter bottles or cylinders for drinking water.

There are two types of connection between the container and the body. In our case, we will be installing the can upside down on a round wood washer. Of course, the service life of such a part is not too long, but nothing prevents the manufacture of a new one. In addition, you can take a "moisture resistant" tree as a basis, for example, larch or linden. First, we drill a washer from a board 50 mm thick with a wood crown with a 100 mm crown. Then, using the existing hole in the center with a 75 or 80 mm crown, we make an annular groove with a depth of about 15 mm, and then select the central part with a 60 or 50 mm crown.

With a penknife, we expand the sample from the crown to 9-10 mm, then we pass it inside with a thin chisel, giving the correct profile. As a result, the washer should fit snugly over the jar, like a lid. On the upper edge of the washer, we make a cut crosswise with a hacksaw to a depth of about 15 mm so that we get small holes for air intake and water outflow. As a result, the structure should work as a drinker for young poultry.

As a second option, you can use an external container: a small tank or canister connected to the evaporator by two thin silicone tubes. It is important, however, that the supply tube exits at the very bottom of the container. The cut-in level of the second hose precisely determines the height of the water layer.

Ultrasonic evaporator

This is, in fact, the only expensive part that you have to buy. But do not rush to purchase components for existing models of air humidifiers, they are at least twice as expensive.

An ordinary piezoelectric element costs from 300 to 500 rubles. You can buy one at online auctions, or directly from China. Make no mistake in your choice: a "bare" piezoelectric element will not work, you need a device in a waterproof case with a pair of outgoing wires and a plug at the end. The difference is that such a humidifier has all the necessary piping to generate the required frequency and can be placed literally in any container with water without additional waterproofing.

The evaporator must be fixed to the bottom of the container in an arbitrary place, but not close to the walls, leaving free space for installing a container with water. If the body of the evaporator is not waterproof, or the plate is not immersed deeply enough during installation, the device can be fixed to the bottom of the container from the outside. It is necessary to make a neat hole for the edge of the plate and seal the junction with sanitary silicone. For stability, the container will need to be equipped with legs or a stand.

Dry run protection

The emitter must always be immersed; this is critical. Without water, it resonates, heats up and fails in a matter of seconds.

Dry running protection can be performed with a simple washer fluid level sensor for domestic cars. It is advisable to purchase short float sensors with a reed switch in a small tube, otherwise there is a great risk that the humidifier will turn off before the water in the bank runs out.

Place the sensor on the bottom of the container so that after placing the can it is inside. If the container is installed separately, the sensor is installed in it. The normal operating mode of the sensor is an open contact, but there can be several switching circuits. To invert the signal, use an intermediate relay or semiconductor switch. If the contact sensor has a standard operation scheme, then it can be connected directly to the open circuit of the power supply of a low-power emitter.

Power and automation

Most piezo emitters are designed for low voltage power supply of 12 or 24 VDC. There are tons of options for how to power a homemade humidifier. We recommend, solely for safety reasons, to place the power supply and automation unit in a separate case.

The simplest and most versatile option is a PC power supply. They have a unified designation system:

  • yellow wires +12 V;
  • black wire - common minus;
  • dark blue wire - 12 V in reverse polarity (up to 0.5A).

Thus, a 12 V connection is made with a black and yellow wire, and a 24 V connection is made with a yellow and blue one.

Since a perfectly stabilized voltage is not required to power the emitter, you can use small transformers from old radios and other household appliances with a diode bridge and without a frequency generator. You can wind the transformer yourself on a small (up to 30 mm) ferrite core, since the power of the piezo emitter is minimal.

To automate the operation of the evaporator to turn off when a certain level of humidity is reached, it will be necessary to assemble a small circuit by hanging installation. The first part is a DHT11 sensor with a digital signal at the output. The second element is the Arduino mini as a digital controller. The operating device of the circuit is a thyristor switch or micro-relay with a consumption current of up to 0.3 A, and a variable resistor of 10-15 kOhm is used as a regulator.

1. Power connectors. 2. Key transistors. 3. Arduino controller board. 4. Moisture sensor

The sketch (algorithm, firmware) for such an assembly is very simple. We declare two global int variables and write the values to Pin "ah of the sensor and potentiometer in them. To compare the values, only one if-else construction is used in an infinite loop, the secondary condition of which is an exception that turns off the piezo emitter relay if the value of the variable humidity has exceeded the setting value. Use the port monitor of the connected board to calibrate the values.

Final assembly of the device

Finally, let's put the device together. We pull the washer under the can to the bottom of the container with self-tapping screws, having previously lubricated with sealant. We put the empty can in place, measure the indents from the sides and transfer the dimensions to the container lid. Cut out a hole along the markings and put a thin silicone tube cut along the edge on the edge.

With an indent of 20-30 mm from the cut, we make a second hole with a diameter of 50 mm and install a computer cooler on four 60 mm screws, which will direct the air flow upward, removing steam from the container and making it easier to generate with a small vacuum. To connect to the power supply, PVA 3x0.75 mm is used.

Now it remains to fill the jar with water to the brim, put on the assembled humidifier on top, turn the structure over and apply power.

Ecology of consumption. Home: Many people believe that the purchase of a humidifier for an apartment is unfortunate and unnecessary. But this is not at all the case. This device is not at all a luxury. Moreover, you can make an ultrasonic humidifier with your own hands.

Many people believe that purchasing an air humidifier for an apartment is unfortunate and unnecessary. But this is not at all the case. This device is not at all a luxury. Moreover, you can make an ultrasonic humidifier with your own hands.

Very often, humidifiers are purchased due to the need to adjust the air quality in those rooms in which people constantly live. Such a need can be caused by the appearance of diseases, which can be caused by poor-quality, dry air, which makes breathing difficult and negatively affects overall well-being. In addition, dry air can harm not only people, but also pieces of furniture made of wood, natural parquet, as well as plants and flowers.

For a children's room, a humidifier is simply an irreplaceable device, since insufficient air humidity is very harmful to the child's body. Dry air damages mucous membranes and increases the possibility of respiratory diseases.

Any type of humidifier for home and office does not need installation and has the ability to operate around the clock in a closed room, which can be an office, apartment or study. These devices are quiet enough that they can be installed in the bedroom.

TYPES OF AIR HUMIDIFIER

According to its structure and principle of operation, five main types of humidifiers can be distinguished:

  • Cold steam appliances.

This is the most traditional type of humidifier. The function of this device is cold evaporation of the liquid. Water is poured into the tank, then it is directed to the sump, and from there to the evaporating cartridges. The simplest models have replaceable paper filters. From the evaporating elements, the air, being humidified, passes into the room.

Such devices not only humidify the air, but also purify it. All dirt accumulates in cartridges and filters. Distilled water is used for cold humidifiers. The advantage of such devices is also that they are very energy saving. It is also important that they operate with little or no noise. This type of humidifier is usually installed in a children's room and bedroom, as well as in offices. The disadvantage of such a device is only that they have little power.

  • Hot steam appliances.

The operation of these devices is based on the evaporation of a liquid by heating it. Such devices work on the principle of an electric kettle. If the water in the evaporator has completely boiled away, then the device turns itself off. Therefore, such devices are completely fireproof. This type of humidifier has a hydrostat, which allows the device to control the air humidity and turn itself off when this indicator reaches the desired value.

A steam or ultrasonic humidifier is best used to create a comfortable greenhouse climate. The positive qualities of steam appliances are ease of use and use for inhalation. You just need to add an infusion of medicinal components or aromatic oils to the device. Aromatic oils allow the device to be used as an air freshener.

  • Ultrasonic devices

The principle of operation of an ultrasonic air humidifier is the transition of water particles to the state of a "water cloud". This is not due to the boiling of the liquid, but due to high-frequency vibrations. Dry air flows into the humidifier. Then, with the help of a fan, it is taken out into the room in the form of a cold fog. These humidifiers do not heat the water, so they can be used in rooms where small children are.

Ultrasonic humidifiers are suitable for rooms containing objects that need to maintain a certain level of humidity. These items include antiques, antique furniture, musical instruments. The ultrasonic humidifier can also be installed in the living room.

The principle of operation of the ultrasonic humidifier allows very precise humidity control. Of course, such devices are quite expensive, but it is quite easy to make them yourself.

  • Climatic complexes

Such humidifiers help not only humidify, but also purify the air from any pollution. The humidification process takes place according to the principle of operation of steam appliances. The filter inserted into the device is most often anti-allergenic and antibacterial. If the appliance is equipped with a charcoal filter, it will help rid the room of bad odors and tobacco smoke. These complexes can be installed in offices and children's rooms. Some models can accommodate aromatherapy capsules.

Although all these types of humidifiers have their own advantages, the most popular are ultrasonic humidifiers that you can make yourself. The step-by-step instructions described below can help with this.

  • Spray type humidifiers.

Such humidifiers spray a water suspension, which is the smallest particles of water. Escaping from the humidifier, the suspension goes into a state of steam. These devices are very powerful, but very expensive. Therefore, such humidifiers, which are also called atomizers, are installed only in industrial premises, where they can justify themselves.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF ULTRASONIC HUMIDIFIERS

The positive aspects of such devices are visible to the naked eye. These include a high degree of safety, ease of use, low noise level and small size, which is very important for Russian apartments. In addition, these humidifiers save electricity despite their good performance. Accurate humidity control is also an important advantage.

The only drawback of such devices is that they have strict water requirements. It is best if it is distilled.

CREATING AN ULTRASONIC HUMIDIFIER

In order to make an ultrasonic humidifier with your own hands, you will need:

  • Ultrasonic steam generator.
  • Computer fan.
  • Plastic container for 5 or 10 liters.
  • Plastic cup.
  • Detail from a donut-shaped children's pyramid.
  • Power supply for 24v7.
  • Flexible pipe, corrugated.
  • Stabilizer.
  • Aluminum corner

You can find everything you need to create a humidifier at home or buy at a hardware store. The total cost of this homemade reception will be no more than one thousand rubles, which is significantly lower than the cost of a factory humidifier. So how to make an ultrasonic humidifier? Let's describe the whole process.

These include a high degree of safety, ease of use, low noise figure and small size, which is very important for Russian apartments. In addition, these humidifiers save electricity despite their good performance. Accurate humidity control is also an important advantage.

The only drawback of such devices is that they have strict water requirements. It is best if it is distilled.

Making an ultrasonic humidifier

In order to make an ultrasonic humidifier with your own hands, you will need:

  • Ultrasonic steam generator.
  • Computer fan.
  • Plastic container for 5 or 10 liters.
  • Plastic cup.
  • Detail from a donut-shaped children's pyramid.
  • Power supply for 24v7.
  • Flexible pipe, corrugated.
  • Stabilizer.
  • Aluminum corner

Anything you need to create a humidifier can be found at home or purchased from a hardware store. The total cost of this homemade reception will be no more than one thousand rubles, which is significantly lower than the cost of a factory humidifier. So how to make an ultrasonic humidifier? Let's describe the whole process.

After buying everything you need, you need to use a drill to make holes in the lid of the container. They will insert the fan mounts, the outlet tube, as well as the wires of the steam generator. Then you need to screw the fan to the container and insert the corrugated tube. These parts of the structure must be located at opposite ends of the container.

It is best to make a special floating platform for the steam generator. In it, the device will always float on the surface of the water, which will ensure continuous operation of the ultrasonic air humidifier. What to make a floating platform out of? For her, you need a measuring cup made of plastic and a round piece with a hole in the middle, which you can take from a children's pyramid. You need to insert the glass into the bagel, drill a hole in the bottom of the glass, and then attach a piece of cloth to the bottom of the glass with an elastic band. The fabric will act as a filter. Next, insert the steam generator into the glass.

This ultrasonic device operates due to the supply of direct current equal to 24V, and for the fan to operate, only 12V is needed, therefore, the fan must be powered using a stabilizer microcircuit. For proper operation, it is better to equip it with constant and variable resistors. The microcircuit, speed control knob and other electrical connections must be hidden under the aluminum corner. The device is ready.

This humidifier requires little maintenance. You just need to ensure that there is always water in the device, otherwise it will not function. Once again, it is worth recalling that distilled water must be poured into an ultrasonic humidifier, even a homemade one.
