Borreliosis insurance. Voluntary tick bite insurance. Baby tick insurance

With the onset of spring, various insects are activated, among which the most dangerous are ticks. They carry over 60 types of dangerous diseases. Tick insurance, which can be purchased from almost all popular insurance companies, is designed to help avoid self-incurring costs associated with paying for medical services and purchasing medicines.

What risks does it cover

The insured risk is understood as the anticipated event, in the event of which the insurance is bought.

Tick-borne encephalitis insurance risks may differ depending on the specific UK, but they are usually as follows:

  • the death of the insured person due to an infectious disease transmitted as a result of a tick bite;
  • the onset of disability due to a bite;
  • a long stay in a hospital in connection with the need to receive medical care.

When is it better to insure

Usually, tick insurance is issued for 1 year. After the expiration of the policy, you can issue a new one.

The entry into force of the contract is carried out after 5-10 days (depending on the insurance company) from the date of payment of the insurance premium.

The approximate period of tick activity (in central Russia) is from early April to late October. The peak of activity is the beginning of June. The largest number of registered appeals to medical organizations regarding tick bites is from mid-May to late June.

It follows from the above that it is better to insure yourself or your relatives (taking into account the period of entry into force of the policy) somewhere in the middle of April, and next year again in the same period to purchase insurance.

At what age children

Sberbank insurance accepts children from 3 years old as insured persons. The maximum age of the insured citizen at the time of purchase of the policy should not exceed 65 years. Persons of any age can be insured in RESO.

In relation to other insurance companies, information of this kind is not always presented on the official websites and the Insurance Rules, therefore we recommend that you check it by calling the hotlines.

What help can you get

The tick insurance program provides the following medical services (or compensation for their cost - depending on the insurance contract):

  • an initial physical examination immediately after a tick bite;
  • diagnostics of the possibility of transmission of encephalitis, borreliosis and other systemic diseases by analyzing the tick for the presence of a virus in it;
  • the introduction of anti-mite immunoglobulin;
  • doctor's advice.

Comparison of conditions and prices of major ICs

The terms of the insurance policy and the amount of the insurance premium may differ depending on the specific insurance company. Our editorial team conducted their own analysis and comparison.

  • for 3 months - 220 rubles;
  • for six months - 240 rubles;
  • for 9 months - 300 rubles.

AlphaInsurance

AlfaStrakhovanie has an Antiklesch program, the sum insured for each insured person is, as a rule, 1 million rubles (may vary depending on the region of insurance).

The price of a policy under the Alfaklesch program in Alfa insurance depends on:

  • region;
  • the age of the insured person.

For example, in St. Petersburg, annual protection for an adult will cost 250 rubles, and for a child - 190 rubles.

How to get insurance

Citizens can purchase insurance:

  • at the nearest office of the insurance company;
  • in online mode.

When concluding a contract online, documents are not provided. Instead, only information about the policyholder and the insured is entered, namely:

  • Date of Birth;
  • passport data (series, number, date of issue, department code);
  • registration address;
  • contact information (phone, e-mail).

To apply for a policy online, you need to click the banner button and fill in the calculator data. After that, you will be provided with a calculation of the cost of the policy and you can purchase it.

For offline registration, the following is provided:

  • statement;
  • a document proving the identity of the policyholder and the insured;
  • at the request of the insurer - other documents (for example, confirming the absence of HIV or a group of disabilities in the insured, as well as the fact that he is not registered in narcological, neuropsychiatric and tuberculosis dispensaries).

What to do in case of an insured event

If a tick has bitten, insurance against a bite will only help if it applies no later than 3 days after the actual fact of the bite. If you do not apply within the specified period, payment for medical services to the clinic or reimbursement of their cost will not be made.

Is it possible to pull out the tick yourself

You cannot take out a tick at home. This should be done by a qualified technician.

Attention! If you try to pull it out on your own, you can make a sharp movement, as a result of which the tick will burst. And in order to study a tick for the fact that it has transferred infectious diseases, it must be alive.

Where to go and what documents to take

If insured via the Internet, the insured must immediately contact the service company with which his insurer cooperates. The telephones are indicated on the insurance policy and, if necessary, can also be specified by calling the IC hotline. The specified procedure also applies in the case of an offline purchase of the policy.

Further, the assistance will tell you which clinic you need to contact no later than 72 hours for the analysis of the tick and the introduction of immunoglobulin and, if necessary, for hospitalization. The insurer will independently pay the invoice issued by the clinic.

If the terms of the contract provide for self-payment for services with their further compensation, then no later than the time specified in the agreement of the parties, you must contact the UK and provide the following documents:

  • statement;
  • general passport;
  • certificate confirming the fact of a tick bite;
  • a copy of the license of a medical organization;
  • an agreement with a medical institution indicating the full name of the insured, the list and cost of the provided medical services;
  • a sales receipt indicating the name and cost of the anti-mite immunoglobulin with the seal of the pharmacy organization, and a doctor's prescription for purchase (provided if the immunoglobulin is not in the clinic, and you had to buy it yourself).

Probably, no one needs to tell what a tick is and how dangerous it is (and if anyone has forgotten, last year's discussion of this topic on our website). This time we will talk about whether it is worth spending money on insurance against the bite of this insect, and what to look for when applying for a policy. Practice testifies: today, unfortunately, you don't even need to go into the forest to pick up a tick - this can happen right at the summer cottage and even in the city square or park.

What is the benefit

First, let's see if it is advisable to take out such insurance at all. To answer this question, just look at the numbers ( Attention: the prices shown are current as of the publication date of the article; of course, they can change, but this does not change what is written: the cost of the policy in any case will be much lower than the cost of the corresponding medical services).

Policy cost voluntary health insurance for tick bites usually ranges from 150-300 rubles(depending on the insurance company, the volume of services provided and the region).

Analysis of one tick for the presence of the tick-borne encephalitis virus in our region, depending on the medical institution, it is 250-350 rubles, for borreliosis - the same amount. Comprehensive analysis for 4 major infections, which can be carried by a tick, will cost about 800 rubles. In this case, the insurance program may provide for an unlimited number of tick tests during the period of validity of the insurance policy.

In principle, you can ignore it further. Saving on analysis is more expensive for yourself: if a tick suddenly turns out to be a carrier of a dangerous disease, and you find out about it too late ... I don’t want to scare anyone, but there is a possibility of death. There are examples.

If anything, add to the amount of your expenses in the absence of insurance immunoglobulin cost(1 ampoule per 10 kg of weight; on average 700-800 rubles per ampoule). The injection is done within 72 hours after the bite, if the tick is a carrier of the tick-borne encephalitis virus, and if there is no way to check the tick, just in case.

It is free for children, but an adult will have to pay the cost of the drug. And by the way, it is quite possible - to buy it yourself. Not every healthcare facility has an adequate supply of immunoglobulin, and it may happen that you will not be able to get an injection if you have not brought your medicine. And those medical institutions with which the insurance company has a contract for the provision of services for a tick bite are required to have this drug and, upon presentation of the policy, give you an injection, if there are indications for that.

What is important when applying for an insurance policy

If I have convinced you that tick bite insurance is not the case when it is worth saving, let's see what you need to pay attention to when choosing an insurance company, insurance program and concluding a contract. There are important nuances that not everyone knows about, namely, the effectiveness of your insurance coverage depends on them.

1. The size of the insured amount

Voluntary tick bite health insurance program does not provide for payments of monetary amounts if an insured event occurs (that is, a tick has bitten the insured). But the insured amount is indicated by the contract and varies in a huge range - from 50,000 to 1,000,000,000 rubles (again, depending on the insurance company, insurance program and region). So, it is within these funds that you will be provided with medical assistance if necessary.

The amount of the insured amount, as a rule, affects the cost of the policy (the larger the amount, the more expensive the policy). And here it is wise to include a calculator. When, for example, for 50 thousand rubles of the sum insured, they promise to provide you with everything that is possible, if necessary, including hospitalization, medications and sanatorium-resort rehabilitation treatment, you should doubt the veracity of such assurances.

On the other hand, if it is written that the insured amount is 1 million rubles, but at the same time, only analyzes and consultations of narrow specialists are recorded in the list of services provided - no drugs, no inpatient treatment, and even less any resorts there - it is also worth a good think before signing the contract.

The examples are real, taken from the information provided by the insurance companies themselves (I will not indicate the names so as not to do either advertising or anti-advertising; the main thing is to understand the principles, and you will choose the company yourself).

2. What can you get under the policy

Read the list of medical services covered by the insurance very carefully. Do not hesitate to ask questions if you do not understand something, and make sure that you are given intelligible answers to them. Otherwise, go to another company. Tick bite insurance is now included in the list of services of almost all insurers, so you always have a choice.

What an insurance policy can and should guarantee you

  • Examination of the victim and removal of the tick
Check, just in case, if the insurance will be valid if you remove the tick yourself. But even if you are assured that it will be, it is better to have a specialist do it on an outpatient basis.
  • Laboratory examination of a tick for the presence of viruses
The set and number of studies are different - keep this in mind. The standard minimum is an analysis for tick-borne encephalitis and borreliosis (Lyme disease) viruses. Sometimes a blood test may also be included to look for signs of infection with these diseases and / or testing the tick for other viruses that it may carry.

If the contract does not explicitly say, specify how many requests for tick bites (and, accordingly, laboratory tests) are covered by the policy. It is extremely rare, but it also happens that laboratory tests of a tick are offered as an additional option (for an additional, albeit small fee).

  • Administration of immunoglobulin if indicated
As already mentioned, immunoglobulin is administered if, during the study of a tick, it was found that it is a carrier of the tick-borne encephalitis virus, and also when it is impossible to conduct a study (for example, your tick did not live to see the laboratory). If the test results are negative, no injection is prescribed.
  • Drug prevention of borreliosis
It is not always provided for by insurance programs, unlike the preventive administration of immunoglobulin, but if the tick that bites you turns out to be a carrier of the borreliosis virus (Lyme disease), this will become relevant for you.
  • Hospitalization in the event of a disease
If all measures (removal of the tick, its analysis, preventive measures if indicated) were performed on time and in the appropriate medical institution, but signs of the disease still appeared, hospitalization will be required. The contract should provide for the provision of inpatient medical care, including the cost of necessary research and medicines.

Please note that some of the prescribed drugs may be included in the list of vital and essential drugs - they are provided to the patient as part of the compulsory health insurance guarantees. They should not be included in the cost of services under the policy. The insurance company will not pay for those medications that the patient "prescribed" to himself.

  • Rehabilitation treatment
Both tick-borne encephalitis and borreliosis are serious diseases that require not only serious treatment, but also long-term recovery after hospital. If the insurance contract guarantees coverage of these costs too, great.

Sometimes insurance companies offer two or more insurance options - choose the best one, with all that said. Also possible additional options... So, for example, one of the companies includes accident insurance in the package of services - in case of disability or death of the insured from tick-borne encephalitis, the payment will be 100 thousand rubles.

3. Where the policy is valid

This is especially important for those who are going on a trip. If it is not written directly in the contract, be sure to clarify this nuance. And find out how you should proceed, what documents to submit to the insurance company, if suddenly a close acquaintance with a tick happens outside your region. Different options are possible here, so find out all the details in advance.

4. When the contract comes into force

"Tricky" moment, which also needs to be paid attention to. The policy does not necessarily start on the same day you signed the contract. For example, one of the insurance companies in the contract says that the insurance period starts from the third day after the conclusion of the contract. That is, if a tick bites you the day after signing it, you will not receive any insurance services.

5. List of medical institutions

Mandatory annex to the contract. Do not treat it as an empty formality - this is important. Let me give you an example. Several years ago I had such insurance. In the list of medical institutions that provide assistance to the bitten, there was only one hospital - on the outskirts of the city. At the same time, the laboratory where you need to take the tick for analysis is in the center. And you have to carry the insect there yourself. Well, I had the opportunity to ride back and forth - but I "killed" half a day for these trips. And if there is no such possibility? ..

Since you, in accordance with the terms of the insurance, are obliged to seek medical help from the institutions with which the insurance company has a contract, try to find a company that will provide you with a sufficient choice of such institutions.

6. What can you save on

The cost of one policy, of course, is not high. But if you want to insure the whole family (say, 4 people), the total amount may be suggestive of savings. Please note that children's policies generally cheaper than adults. Some companies offer discounts and pensioners... And there is also the possibility of a conclusion family contracts- they also have preferential tariffs. Find out more in the company itself - discounts and benefits are varied.

7. Obligations of the insured

Don't forget that this is a contract. And in it there are always at least two sides, and each of them has both its rights and obligations. Do not forget to read what you are instructed to do and what actions are considered a violation of the contract.

Principled, as a rule, 2 basic conditions: seek medical help from those institutions that are included in the list attached to the contract, and do this within 72 hours after the bite, no later than. But if you went to the hospital, and there was no, say, the necessary dose of immunoglobulin, you have the right to receive the necessary assistance in another institution - you just need to contact the insurance company first and clarify what will be required to reimburse (or pay) your expenses.

Here, perhaps, are all the main nuances that you should know when concluding a tick bite insurance contract. But it would be interesting to know the opinion of those who are already familiar with this in practice: what did you happen to encounter, were you satisfied with the quality of insurance services, what conclusions did you draw for yourself? Share your opinion in the comments!

With the onset of a warm time, I want to escape to nature from the bustle of the city, relax with friends, take a walk in the forest, breathe in the clean forest air, enjoy the forest and the warm sun.

But unfortunately, the forest in summer gives not only positive emotions, but also carries a danger - ticks infected with tick-borne encephalitis, or other dangerous diseases for humans.

It is imperative to take this into account and be prepared. First of all, you need to dress in tight clothing that covers your legs, torso - head and neck. Secondly, after walking through the woods, you need to examine the body. Some ticks, despite tight clothing, still fall under it. Thirdly, in order for everything to be under control in the event of a bite and to provide timely assistance from doctors, it is necessary to buy a special pole.

With your health insurance anti-mites, if you are bitten by an insect, your life is not in danger. Doctors will do everything necessary for your safety: they will carefully remove the tick and send it to the laboratory for examination, take your blood, check it for the virus, and if there is one, give it an injection with a vaccine. Special medicines to improve your health will be free of charge for you.

What is an ixodid tick and what danger its bite poses to humans, a lot has been written and it probably does not make sense to repeat it (if you have forgotten, read it). The topic of today's article is whether it is worth spending money on insurance against a tick bite and what points to pay attention to when applying for it. There are at least a dime a dozen insurers, but the conditions they offer are far from the same, and therefore it is important to figure out who actually promises what.

A voluntary tick bite insurance policy can be of two types:

  • In case of another virus - upon the occurrence of an insured event, there will be no payments, and the insured amount will go to the provision of medical care;
  • From an accident - here, on the contrary, compensation is provided, but only if, due to an insect bite, it comes to disability or death.

Tick insurance cost on average from 200 to 300 rubles, and therefore more than justifies itself already at the first stage of the occurrence of an insured event - when conducting tests (for the presence of a tick-borne encephalitis virus it will cost 250-350 rubles, on borreliosis - the same amount, and a comprehensive study on the subject of 4 types of main infections and even more - about 800 rubles).

With insurance, during the period of its validity, you can investigate many insects and already save a lot on this one.

The administration of immunoglobulin will be even more expensive, since a portion of 60 kg per person will cost about 4,000-5,000 rubles (one ampoule per 10 kg of weight - from 700 rubles). Under the insurance contract, the injection will be administered within 3 days from the moment of being bitten by a tick - a vector of encephalitis. If the insect cannot be examined for one reason or another, the drug will still be administered to the insured person.

What should you pay attention to when insuring?

Sum insured

The voluntary tick bite insurance program does not imply any cash payments upon the occurrence of an insured event. But the sum insured(within which medical assistance is provided to the victim) is clearly indicated in the contract and depending on the UK and its program, region can vary in a wide range - from 50,000 to 1,000,000,000 rubles.

The volume of medical services in the event of an insured event will directly depend on the cost of the policy. And you should not rely on the agent's assurances that, despite the small sum insured, if necessary, a wide range of services will be provided, from a full examination to a spa treatment.

As in the case if the insurance is designated as very large, but in fact, apart from analyzes and a narrow specialist, nothing can be achieved. Most likely, here we are talking about a banal deception.

The contract should clearly spell out everything that may be required - examination, medication, inpatient treatment, hospitalization, etc. Even such a seemingly trifle as a list of hospitals to which you have to go will ultimately play a big role - it will be possible to get to one difficult, in another eternal queue or non-professional doctors, etc. So the larger the list of medical institutions, the better for the client.

Comprehensive tick insurance necessarily includes a number of important measures:

  • Client examination;
  • Removing the insect from the body;
  • Laboratory examination of a tick at least for borreliosis and encephalitis, ideally for all possible viruses;
  • If there is evidence for that - the introduction of immunoglobulin;
  • Prevention of borreliosis with the necessary medications;
  • Hospitalization and inpatient care. It is also not bad if the insurance policy stipulates a guarantee of payment for post-hospital recovery.

In this aspect, there may be other important points:

  • The beginning of the policy- this is not necessarily the day of the transaction, a cunning trick of the insurers is to set later deadlines, and if in this period he manages to bite the tick, no free help will be obtained;
  • Territory covered by the policy- especially important for those who are on the move;
  • The rights and obligations of the parties to the contract - you need to know how to behave so as not to violate the terms of the transaction. For example, you can apply only to specific institutions, and no later than 3 days from the moment of the bite;
  • Typically, insurance companies attract clients in groups and families by promising discounts and benefits. Children's tick insurance and pension policy usually also cheaper than the standard one. Considering all this, you can also save a lot on protecting all your loved ones from the terrible diseases carried by ticks.

If something is not clear or you still have questions before issuing a policy, you should not hesitate to ask the agent about it. The specialist is obliged to provide intelligible answers, otherwise it can be concluded that not everything is transparent in this company and it is better to find another insurer. Fortunately, today there are a lot of companies providing such services, and in conditions of fierce competition, many of them make very profitable offers. So, in any case, a person always has a choice where to insure himself against a tick.

Reviews: smart learns from other people's mistakes

Tatiana, 43 years old:

“In my area it is impossible not to think about insurance against a tick bite, since everything around the village is teeming with these bloodsuckers. Last year I didn’t have time to react, the snow has not melted yet, it’s March outside, and my daughter has already brought one home with her. I am hysterical, and for good reason - the analysis revealed that the tick was a carrier of encephalitis, which is not uncommon in our area. And the running around the laboratories and hospitals began, wherever you are, the first question is always - is there insurance? "

Sergey, 25 years old:

“I love going out into nature with my friends, every time I catch one or two insects. True, only one tick managed to bite me in 25 years, found the rest on time, and then, thank God, without consequences. I make insurance every year, because I have a not so successful example - a spouse's relative cannot live normally for many years after contact with an encephalitis tick. Guys, do not spare a few hundred rubles for such an important matter and be healthy! "

Take care in advance

So you shouldn't see tick bite insurance as a waste of money. From early spring to late autumn, nature blooms and falls asleep, in this period of time there are a lot of wonderful moments, and it is foolish to allow some insects to deprive themselves of such bright moments, life joys, or even life itself.

The warm season cannot be imagined without visiting forest park zones, as well as relaxing in the country or near water bodies. The reason that can spoil any rest can be a tick bite, the greatest danger is represented by their ixodid species. This, at first glance, a common situation can cause a serious illness, the result of untimely treatment of which is the development of general disability or death. To prevent the development of the disease and avoid serious consequences from a bite, tick insurance for all family members or individual insurance for one person will allow.

What is tick insurance and what does it provide?

Tick insurance is a voluntary type of insurance, so all conditions, programs and the cost of the policy itself may differ from different insurers. The voluntariness of concluding an agreement implies the personal expression of the will of a person to conclude it. At the same time, such insurance is usually required when organizing hiking trips or sending children to summer camps located in woodlands.

The purpose of the insurance is to protect the insured against the consequences of a tick bite, a carrier of viruses that can cause the following complex diseases:

  • encephalitis- a dangerous infection, the viruses of which primarily affect the nervous system and cause paralysis of the whole body and, in some cases, death;
  • Lyme disease(the common name is borreliosis) - an infectious disease that can affect the joints, heart and skin, as well as having a destructive effect on the entire nervous system;
  • hemorrhagic fever- a disease that occurs in an acute form is associated with fever, general intoxication of the body and hemorrhages.

In all cases, in the absence of proper treatment, the likelihood of death is high.

Within the framework of the policy for a tick bite, research is carried out, both of the tick itself and of the victim, and, if necessary, appropriate treatment and further observation are carried out.

Tick insurance can include both the provision of medical treatment services (analogue of VHI), and the receipt of compensation payments by analogy with insurance from the National Assembly in the amount of the insured amount or part of it in the event of serious consequences from a bite (disability or death of the insured). When choosing insurance, one should proceed from the purpose of its registration, namely, receiving direct funds upon the occurrence of an insured event or receiving treatment and carrying out all the necessary tests.

Unlike compulsory health insurance, medical services that are strictly limited by federal and state law, voluntary tick insurance can include various types of care. At the time of the conclusion, the policyholder independently chooses the program and types of medical services provided upon the occurrence of an insured event. Extended insurance, as a rule, is significantly more expensive than basic insurance.

Depending on the programs offered by insurers for insurance against ticks, the following medical and related services (which are not provided under the CHI) may be provided:

  • extraction of a tick in a healthcare facility with tests to identify infectious pathogens;
  • if an infection is suspected, seroprophylaxis using a special immunoglobulin;
  • a blood test using the RPHA antigen and ELISA, which is carried out on days 14 and 25 after meeting with a tick;
  • medical registration and constant monitoring for a month by specialists;
  • if hospitalization is necessary, accommodation is carried out in wards of increased comfort with the provision of all medical supplies;
  • provision of rehabilitation and restorative assistance, allowing to restore health after treatment in a hospital.

The list of medical services discussed above is not exhaustive and can be expanded depending on the insurer's program. As a rule, the higher the cost of the policy, the larger the package of medical services will be offered to the insured. If the risk of a bite is high enough, then you should not save on tick insurance.

Insurance contracts come into force in most cases at the time of conclusion or the next day. In some cases, by agreement between the policyholder and the insurer, the contract may enter into force after a certain period, for example, after a week. An essential condition for all insurance contracts is the validity period.

Many insurers apply a temporary deductible to tick insurance. This is directed against cases of concluding a policy after a tick bite, which is inherently fraudulent. At the time of the conclusion of the contract, no examination is carried out on the state of health of the insured and the temporary deductible allows insurers to exclude the risks of fraud.

The essence of a temporary deductible is to defer the start of the term. As a rule, the temporary deductible is set from 3 to 5 days, the period of which, although it covers, the insurance does not actually work. It is necessary to pay attention to this when concluding a contract and make sure that the term of the temporary deductible expires before the moment of the alleged collision with a tick.

The cost of tick bite insurance is negligible and affordable. On average, the minimum insurance premium is 200 rubles. Several factors affect the amount of the insurance premium, and it is possible to answer the question of how much it costs only when they are specified, in particular:

  • the limit of reimbursement or the amount within which medical services will be provided (established by agreement of the parties, as a rule from 100,000 rubles and up to a maximum of 1,000,000 - 3,000,000 rubles. The maximum payment is made in case of severe complications resulting in disability or death;
  • insurance period - can be from 1 month to a year, if insurance is needed only for the duration of the trip, then by concluding a policy for a shorter period, you can save up to 70% on the price;
  • coverage area - regions are distinguished in which the risk of contracting an infectious disease from ixodid ticks is significantly higher compared to others (for example, in the Vologda region the risk is higher than in the Saratov region);
  • the age of the insured;
  • insurance program, which involves a list of services in the event of an insured event. The basic one is characterized by: removing the tick, carrying out all the necessary tests and, if necessary, a single immunoprophylaxis. Extended programs involve medical supervision, as well as the possibility of restoring health in specialized sanatoriums.

You can save on tick insurance when you conclude a contract for all family members at once (group policy).

Many insurers offer additional bonuses to the cost when ordering insurance online on the company's website.

After deciding on insurance, many people ask themselves where to do it and what is needed for this. There are several ways to buy insurance against ticks:

  • by personally contacting the insurer's office with a passport - the policy is issued quickly enough due to its simplicity and wide availability;
  • using the services on the insurer's website. After filling out the electronic form, some companies issue an electronic policy, payment for which can be made using a bank card, and in some cases they contact the client and offer to visit the nearest office to conclude an agreement;
  • by contacting insurance agents and other intermediaries acting on behalf of the insurer.

In order to issue a policy, it is enough to have a passport or other documents equivalent to it by virtue of the law. When registering, you should pay attention to the reflection in the contract of all conditions, in particular, data on the insured, the list of services provided within the selected program (drawn up as an annex to the contract), indemnity limits and validity periods.
