Modern Kazakhstani culture is a rather complex phenomenon. First of all, it is connected with the fact that Kazakh-speaking and Russian-speaking citizens have different views and tastes. Often, the heroes and areas of interest of these two groups not only do not overlap, but are also unknown outside their communities. the site has compiled a list of those people who produce, in our opinion, interesting and important products for modern Kazakhstan.

Galymzhan Moldanazar / Photo from gakku.kz

The songs of the Moldanazar group are actively rotated on the air of television and radio stations, and its leader Galymzhan Moldanazar is called almost the most progressive musician in Kazakhstan.

He has no special musical education. The native of the Kyzylorda region began to write songs back in his school years, but for a long time he did not dare to perform them publicly. After school, he even entered the acting department at the Academy of Arts. Zhurgenov, but after that he finally realized that he only wanted to study music. Therefore, he dropped out of school and left the hostel literally on the street. He spent the night, according to him, in parks on benches, until friends found out about it and sheltered him in his rented apartment.

The first success came to Moldanazar in 2013 immediately after the release music video"Apen birge". After that there was an acquaintance and a performance with the famous rock cellists Break of Reality at one of the New York concert stages. Now 30-year-old Galymzhan works day and night in the studio, recording new songs. Some of them become soundtracks for films: for example, "Sagym" sounded in the film "Taraz" by Nurtas Adambayev. Galymzhan Moldanazar is no less responsible for filming his videos than for working with music: each video is a full story. For its absolutely European modern sound, it is often compared to Tesla Boy and Ivan Dorn, with whom, by the way, they recorded a joint track. Moldanazar writes songs only in Kazakh.

The Kazakh actress was the first in the post-Soviet space to be awarded the prize for Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival. To the site, the actress said: to make her character look as realistic as possible, before filming, she brought herself to physical exertion to fatigue, and sometimes to exhaustion. Filming lasted six years. The actress has only two films on her account. The first was a minor role in the film "Tulip", which was also shot by Sergei Dvortsevoy and which was also noted by the jury at the Cannes Film Festival, having awarded the main prize of the "Uncommon View" competition. Samal Eslyamova has been living in Moscow for over 10 years: after graduating from GITIS, a girl from Kazakhstan decided to stay to work in the capital of Russia. She admits that she always dreamed of becoming a journalist, but in the end she entered the acting department and did not regret it. Samal's parents and relatives still live in Petropavlovsk.

Scryptonite / Photo from the site gakku.kz

Adil Zhalelov, performing under the pseudonym Scryptonite, became widely known in 2015 immediately after the release of his debut album "House with Normal Phenomena". On the iTunes chart, this disc quickly surpassed the disc of Justin Bieber, yielding only to the new album of the singer Adele. Critics compared the disc with an unusual retelling of a certain art house movie, in which tracks of various genres were harmoniously intertwined: hip-hop, trap with blues-rock, vocals with inarticulate whispering, recitative and shouts.

The first success came to him two years earlier with the release of the video for the song VBVVCTND. The composition attracted the attention of not only music lovers, but also professional musicians, and Scryptonite received an offer of cooperation from the Russian rapper Vasily Vakulenko, better known as Basta. As a result, the musician became part of the Gazgolder label and took part in the label's concert tour. In 2016, Scryptonite won the "Real MusicBox Award" in the "Out of Format" category and was named "Discovery of the Year" by GQ magazine. The second disc of Scryptonite "Holiday on 36 Street", released in the spring of 2017, took the leading position on the iTunes chart in Russia, and also hit the top 10 in South Korea and Britain. The last two-part album "Ouroboros" Adil released on December 16, 2017. After that, he announced that he would stop doing hip-hop for a while and would write completely different music.

Kairat Nurtas sings only in the Kazakh language, in his repertoire there are songs of both young and well-known domestic composers: Aset Beiseuov, Shamshi Kaldayakov, Yerzhan Serikbayev, as well as compositions of his own composition. Despite his immense popularity, the attitude towards the artist is ambiguous: some adore him, others accuse him of a lack of musical taste and vulgarity, calling him a "toy performer". In addition, the name of Kairat Nurtas has repeatedly appeared in the center of high-profile scandals, among them the incident with the show in the Prime Plaza shopping center in Almaty, which ended in mass pogroms, fights, and arson of cars.

Dimash Kudaibergen has a unique voice of six octaves: from bass to whistle register. However, before international achievements, the artist's path to fame in Kazakhstan was very thorny.

A fragment of the television music competition "Saz Alemi" has survived on the Internet, in which members of the jury harshly Dimash Kudaibergen for his performance in a high voice, comparing his singing to "the bride in Zaporozhets." Russian singer Kristina Orbakaite, Swedish artist Loreen, Englishwoman Sophie Alice-Bextor, as well as Dimash's rival in the project I am Singer, Chinese singer Terry Lin performed on the same stage with 30 thousand spectators.

Director, screenwriter, poet, writer, translator, screenwriter, member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR, leader of public opinion - Ermek Tursunov has many professions and regalia. Glory came to him in 2008, after the American Film Academy selected his debut directorial work - the film "Kelin" - for the Oscar as a competition in the nomination "Best Foreign Language Film". The news of the nomination then divided the Kazakh society into two camps: some were sincerely happy for their compatriot, others were outraged that the erotic scenes in his picture allegedly expose Kazakhstan in an unattractive light on the world stage. Disputes on this matter did not subside for a long time. Hire of his other picture - "Shal" was also a great success, the film was based on the story of Ernest Hemingway "The Old Man and the Sea". Once again, Ermek Tursunov drew the attention of society with his open letter to the people of Kazakhstan under the title "My unequal marriage with the state", which was published in the magazine "Forbes Kazakhstan" after the devaluation of the tenge in February 2014. Tursunov is also the author of such books as "Mamluk", "Seven days in May" and "Little things in life".

Dosym Satpayev / Photo from Facebook

Many Kazakhstanis are interested in Dosim Satpayev's opinion on certain events in the country, which is why journalists from various media often turn to him for comments. However, the political scientist himself often writes analytical materials for newspapers and Internet portals, and also speaks out in posts on his Facebook page. The range of topics that he comments on is quite wide, including: personnel reshuffles in the government and other central state bodies, new legislative initiatives, sectoral reforms, relations between the government and society. 27001

Daughter of a famous Kazakh politician. She was recognized earlier by one surname for two. Perceived as the daughter of their father. But she achieved that her name became independent and turned into a brand with 20 years of experience. Now the clothes of the founder and head of the Kuralai Fashion House are worn not only by Kazakhstanis, but also by Russian stars. And when they say "Kuralai Nurkadilova", they add - the first Kazakhstani designer.

- Kuralai, how did you get into the world of fashion?

I started with television, worked as a stylist, dressed the presenters. Gradually I decided that it was necessary to create collections. The first one was at the "Asia Dauysy" music festival with a patriotic theme. I was the first designer to transfer the Kazakhstan flag to clothes. And then it was a big risk for me. We were simply afraid that I would be punished. Later, I planned to patent this case, but then the patent direction was imperfect. In principle, no one wore our T-shirts with the Kazakh flag. Then no one thought about patriotism. And I knew that this idea is for the future.

- What is the fashion in Kazakhstan?

We dress in bright. If in Russia it is a trend of fashion, then in our country it is a way of life. We've always dressed like that.

Speaking specifically about me, for a long time there has been such a thing as “the Kuralai brand - the first Kazakhstani designer”. This is probably already a stable expression. Our Fashion House celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. This is a huge experience in our business. There are a bunch of regalia, the status of the House, the number of clothing lines. Now many designers find it difficult to compare with my brand. I, of course, am not saying that it is cooler than others. But this is recognized by those who are just starting to work in this direction. Many say that they followed my collections regularly, dreamed of seeing. And already at the Kazakhstan Fashion Week they choose and give an opportunity to new young designers. And rightly so, there should be competition. But everyone moves their own way. We have our own strategy.

- How do you choose your wardrobe?

In the morning or in general? ( laughs). In the morning, I usually think of a plan for the day. For example, an interview, akimat and an evening event. My wardrobe that day will depend on these points. I try to dress universally, and with the help of accessories I change my image by the evening. I usually do that. But, if there is no way to do this, or, for example, I have radically different meetings, then I have to take my clothes with me. I often have removable items in my car.

- The secrets of your image?

I have a fairly streamlined wardrobe. I can add to my dress, for example, some kind of blouse or accessory, and the dress will look completely different. I cannot afford, despite the fact that I sew myself, to change clothes several times a day. I change images with the help of simple ideas.

- you adhere to your style or fashion?

I have my own style. And so, I think, everyone should have. Style is internal positioning, a person's way of life. Even if I go out to the mall, I will be very different from everyone in any case. Elementary with your hair. Even if I'm wearing a simple black dress.

- Kuralai, do you consider yourself an extraordinary person?

Of course! I am extraordinary and my life was extraordinary. But this does not mean that I am making a theater out of my life. Everything happens naturally.

- In your opinion, what is lacking in our Kazakhstani women in terms of fashion, style and taste?

There is enough of everything. Our women dress well. Isolated cases when I want to work with some person. Remove conservatism, a little complexes. For example, I like the vivid image of Bakhyt Syzdykova. Such people remain in history, in memory.

- Now it is fashionable to dress the whole family in the same way. Have you tried sewing family collections?

There was an idea, both for me and for Salta ( Saltanat Baymukhamedova, Kazakh designerapprox.auto. ). We made mom and daughter collections. I myself dress the same with my daughters. I love it, in one go. It's beautiful.

Women who have achieved incredible success both in work and in family , if they do not cause envy, then they inspire us to the same feats. Designer Kuralai Nurkadilova tells how she manages to simultaneously raise three children, run a household and create new clothing collections.

- Kuralai, have you always wanted to have a big family?

- Yes, an exemplary family seemed to me like that: the children stand up for each other, and if two quarrel, the third will always enlighten and make them friends. I inspire the children so that, in spite of everything, they do not weaken their communication with each other and accustom their spouses in the future to the traditions of a large family.
- Tell us about your children.

- My son Nurzaman (translated from Kazakh - "Best times") is 17 years old, daughter Aru (which means "Beauty") is 10 years old, and little Ayim is 6 years old. Her name is translated as "My moon".

- How do you manage to combine parenting and doing business?

- Our secret is to work with the whole family. Since the age of 15, my son has been helping me in business, giving practical advice. The year before last, he was fully occupied with “forming suitcases” for Kazakhstani athletes who went to the Beijing Olympics, and he also selects music for all shows.
Aru herself draws her collections - for two years now she has had a successful brand “! ARUI”. The name connects the names of both daughters. Although little Ayim is not involved in big business yet, she will not be able to avoid it in the future! (Laughs) But seriously, the more mother is busy with business, the less children cling to her skirt.

- How long did you breastfeed each baby?

- Yes, I fed all my children until the moment when they themselves gave up breastfeeding. Even the older one, despite the fact that it was previously not customary to put the baby to the breast immediately after giving birth, the first ones I fed only with colostrum. By the way, I authoritatively declare: the breast does not lose its shape at all, it is just necessary always - both during pregnancy and after it - to support it with a bra.

- Is it true that the birth of each next child is easier and faster?

- We did exactly the opposite: baby Ayim was born in the sixth month. And the birth was difficult, and the subsequent rehabilitation was not easy. Her lungs were not ready to function, and they only had time to ask me if I would agree to inject an expensive drug to make her lungs open. As soon as I gave my consent, I was injected with a forced anesthesia. By the way, I felt its consequences for several years, suffering from memory gaps.
Ayim did not want to either diagnose or write out (since they saw in me only a solvent client). When we turned to the Institute of Pediatrics, it turned out that after the "treatment" in the maternity hospital, my daughter was in a worse condition than after giving birth. She was not given the required amount of food, so she did not gain weight, and the catheter injured the walls of the esophagus with each insertion. In general, no matter how experienced a mother I felt with my third child, I was a little curious about a lot.

- For example?

- There are many nuances in caring for premature babies. For example, they should be applied to the naked body as often as possible so that the warmth and heartbeat of the mother would calm them down. This is important, because they have not "spent their time" in the stomach and it is necessary to prolong similar moments. Unfortunately, it was not possible to immediately attach the baby to the breast, but I carefully expressed the milk. It was amazing to see: my breasts were larger than her head!
The breathing of a premature baby had to be monitored every second, it was necessary to stay awake for days. Three important components for such children: warmth, nutrition, oxygen. But if you overdo it with the latter, then pathology, deafness or blindness may appear in the future. And without oxygen it is very difficult for them. Before the birth of Ayim, I considered myself just a virtuoso with children, but then I realized that I did not know a lot.

- There was no struggle for parental attention among the children?

- I remember how the eldest son, when he heard that he would have a sister, began to cry. We had a gentle conversation, I explained to him that he is always the one and only for me and will always be considered the firstborn, which no one else can be. This satisfied him, and we never returned to this conversation. Now he adores his sisters!

- Ayim will go to school soon. Do you think it will be easy for her to adapt to the team?

- I'm sure it's easy. She is very sociable and open-minded. But it is difficult for the middle daughter at school: she is a creative, easily injured nature and does not understand people well. Everyone seems to her to be kind and good, and this is far from the case. I have to explain to her that this world is not as sunny as she thinks, sometimes there are thunderstorms.

- Uncover the secret of the ideal family for "Nanny".

- Monitor nutrition and education! (Laughs) And what? Nutrition is an important part of a healthy family! For example, I am against the microwave oven: after all, it has not yet been studied how these waves will affect the health of our children. Children eat the simplest homemade food: soups and cereals. We have cola and juices on big holidays. I make a sweet cold drink myself from freshly brewed tea, lemon and sugar. It is necessary to protect children from preservatives and exorbitant sweets. The children agree with me and will never buy themselves chips or cola.
