And all the time of the trip, the Z3 Compact did not give rest to my friend, he liked it very much, he constantly asked to see, twist in his hands, tell me what functions and features there are.

But, as practice shows, Z3 Compact really evokes positive emotions in people and almost instant addiction. He is small - and very thoughtful. When I first saw it, I still didn’t want to come to terms with the fact that there was no metal frame in this “compact”, it was replaced by polymer. After a month of use, I can safely say - it's okay. It looks good, does not slip, the device can be lifted off the table simply with your fingertips (unlike the Z3), what else do you need?

Well, let's get back to the traditional overview. I love the way the smartphone looks when viewed from the front. We tried to remove the frames, the polymer ends are rough, and the device as a whole fits better in the hand, it is easier to get it out of the pocket. The buttons are well done, and despite the compactness, the camera button is retained. Like the flagship, there are rounded inserts at the ends. Neat plugs, unprotected 3.5 mm jack supports work with all branded accessories for this pinout, the device is protected according to the IP68 standard.

It's a pity that summer is over and all Z3s will be on sale in the fall, the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact would look great somewhere on the beach. Although soon after all winter holidays, and many will fly to warm countries. So, don't forget this little smartphone.

In the display settings, you can turn on the "With gloves" mode, select the white balance, there is a function to activate the device by double-clicking on the screen when the smartphone is turned off. Previously, this feature was only available on large flagships. Supports smart backlight function - the screen remains on while the smartphone is in your hand. You can choose the brightness yourself, or trust the automation, I prefer the first option.

This is not entirely related to the display, but the proximity sensor did not always work adequately for me, during a conversation I opened the quick parameters menu several times with my cheek, turned on the flashlight, etc. If you have the same problem, please let us know in the comments.

A five-pin connector is used, as on the Z2, all new accessories that require power from the gadget are supported, such as a microphone, a noise-canceling headset. Comparison of the appearance of the devices, perhaps, is not completely correct, since the Z3 was tested in black, and the Compact - in white. Personally, my opinion is that smartphones that do not have any special design merits visually lose to their light competitors in black color ... And so it happened - the Z3 in black looks just nothing, it is indistinguishable from its predecessor Z2, and from many other devices - like Sony, and other brands ...

Compact looks completely different - the smartphone has an interesting visual effect in addition to the two-tone design (white panels, gray edge). The edge is made of translucent plastic, the profile of which is texturedly convex, but in appearance it seems concave. In short, the Compact looks clearly more interesting, although neither one nor the other device is attracted to a "design breakthrough".

Both devices are waterproof to IP65 / IP68 standards - that is, they can withstand complete immersion without damage.

By the way, it is worth noting an interesting service function - I don’t remember this on the previous waterproof "Experiments" ... After removing the USB connector from the phone or memory card, the device reminds you to carefully close the connector so that no water gets in!

Both gadgets have contacts for a charging cradle-stand on the case, which allows you not to loosen the waterproof USB jack covers with constant openings. The only pity is that the coasters themselves are sold separately and are not cheap ... Few people buy them ...

Slots for memory cards, SIM and charging are located under sealed covers. It will take some time to memorize - what - where. Compact in this sense is more convenient - it has at least all the covers on one side, and Z3 they are spaced apart on the sides.

And if we go completely into the field of marketing games, then I will note that even with the current camera phone standard of 20 MP and 4K, Sony advertisers did not dare to use promotional techniques, such as shooting a full-length movie on a smartphone, as was done with the Nokia N8 ...

At the time of writing the review, the cost of the "white" official Z3 dropped to 28 thousand rubles, and Compact - to 22 thousand. That is, six months later, especially when the expensive Z3 + appeared, the time has come to purchase gadgets that have dropped in price to a reasonable price.

What do we lose by choosing the "three-compact" instead of the "full-fledged three" and saving 6,000 rubles? The display is smaller, but less than an inch (sorry for the tautology!), 2 gigabytes of RAM versus 3, and ... that's it! The Z3, however, has the opportunity to purchase it in a 2-SIM version, which is not available for the Compact - perhaps, to someone it will seem principled ...

At the same time, the “compact” has a more interesting design, in contrast to the faceless Z3, and a lower risk of dropping the “shovel” device. Even one-handed photography - including the trendy hipster hip lomography - is more comfortable with it! And when buying a camera phone, it is worth thinking about it! All the rest of the parameters important for the consumer are identical - camera, moisture protection, processor, battery life. Even their equipment is identical - you will have to buy all existing accessories separately. That is why the Z3 Compact, from my point of view, looks like a much more interesting and justified purchase.
