With an increase in the overall performance of the chip up to 50% - compared to its predecessor, the battery of the "sevens" not only copes with increased loads, but also shows an increase in battery life, albeit insignificant. A large role in reducing costs by the company assigned to the new high-performance processor. It consists of two clusters, in each of which two cores are installed by designers.

One cluster is designed for fast and energy-intensive computing. It is used only when there is really a need for it - when working with detailed maps, "3D" games, graphic editors, etc.

In all other cases, the second, energy-efficient cluster is activated, which ensures the operation of all regular processes. At the same time, it consumes only a fifth of the energy that would be used by the first, productive group of cores.

To redistribute tasks and loads between the cores, the "sevens" have a special controller. It is he who determines the priority of processes and ensures the optimal interaction of groups of nuclei.

All this allows you to get a tangible reduction in energy costs for the operation of the system. As a result, despite the increased costs of new modern nodes, the “sevens” showed an overall increase in battery life.
During the presentation, it was stated that both types of “sevens” received an increase in battery life. So 7 Plus will now last a full two hours longer. The survivability of the base, 4.7-inch version, is much more modest - the increase was only one hour. But on the other hand, he also has a much smaller screen, and it is logical that his energy “appetites” are not so great.

Although the absolute increase (relative to predecessors), in milliamp-hours, is only 245 and 150, respectively. In percentage terms, this is 12.5% ​​for the basic version, and 5% for the 7 Plus.

It is clear that all these results of laboratory tests are given with the proviso that for each user the result of iPhone performance may differ significantly. After all, we all use our gadgets in different ways, we move differently, which means that we spend energy on calls, the Internet, searching for a cell signal, etc. a priori cannot be the same.

Yes, and Apple, as always, is reinsured, slightly underestimating laboratory indicators, so as not to once again provoke criticism from expert skeptics.

Analysis of the duration of the "sevens" in different modes

The manufacturer's website provides the following battery test results for new iPhones under different load conditions. To put it bluntly, the results are mixed.
In terms of waiting time, both versions of the flagships of recent years do not differ - depending on the model, they function autonomously from 10 to 16 days.

As you can see, even if you use a wireless headset, communication in 3G networks for the iPhone 7 will be the same as for the 6 S - 14 hours. But in the "plus" model, on the contrary, there is a decrease in the duration of calls from a single charge - compared to 6 SPlus, it will last three hours less (21 hours versus 24 hours).

But on the other hand, it turned out to be 1 hour more tenacious than the "six" - while using the mobile Internet (3G and 4G), and on Wi-Fi even longer - for as much as 3 hours. The basic version has a similar ratio of growth when using the Internet is 2 and 3 hours, respectively.

You can watch videos on the 7 Plus for the same amount of time as on the 6 SPlus - 14 hours. And among the 4.7-inch models, the "seven" is clearly inferior - at least for a couple of hours.

We were not pleased with the indicators of the duration of playback of wireless audio. The basic version has a decrease of 10 hours compared to its predecessor (40 hours vs. 50 hours). In the “plus” model, everything is sad at all - minus by as much as 20 hours (60 hours versus 80 hours).

Once again, Apple introduced a non-separable case, pulling out the battery from which - without violating integrity, is quite difficult. In addition, this year water and dust protection added additional problems - it is not known how the replacement of the battery pack will affect the tightness. In general, the battery of modern gadgets is designed for 1.5-2 years of intensive work. We are sure that almost all users use iPhones in this way - i.e. recharging takes place every day.
