Blanks from furniture boards

It so happens that the choice in furniture stores is large, the price range is varied, but you can't find a kitchen set! Either the color is not the right one, the quality is not satisfactory, or the dimensions are not suitable for a particular apartment. Then there is only one way out! To make a dream kitchen with your own hands from furniture boards - a material of high quality, grateful and responsive.

Advantages of the furniture board

This environmentally friendly material is often used for the manufacture of stairs and furniture; it is also in demand in decorative works. The furniture board is a wooden board, but the board is glued and compressed, where the strength of the connection of individual parts is the highest.

Types of lamination of furniture boards

Furniture panels are made of oak, birch, pine wood. Such material is durable and easy to process. It securely holds nails, screws and other fasteners.

The process of assembling a kitchen from furniture boards

Furniture panels are used to make kitchen sets for a number of reasons:

  • Durability and practicality. Such furniture can last for more than one year. And during operation, it is not subject to deformation and distortions.
  • Environmental friendliness. The basis of the shield is wood. And during gluing, PVA glue is mainly used - a safe material that, after hardening, does not emit harmful substances.
  • Aesthetics. The appearance of panel products does not differ much from solid wood furniture.
  • Low cost. Furniture panels belong to economy class materials, but the price-quality ratio is the best here.
  • Large size range. Thanks to this, you can make furniture of different sizes, as well as significantly save on material.

Design of works

Before starting work on the creation of a kitchen set, it is worth updating the entire room. Check the condition of the windows, if you do not have double-glazed windows, then you can think about installing them. Pay attention to the ceiling, whether you have plastered it for a long time. If the walls require new wallpaper, apply it before installing the furniture. You also need to check the plumbing equipment. Changing or repairing it after installing the furniture will be quite inconvenient.

Drawing of a kitchen set of furniture boards

In parallel with these works, you can come up with a plan for the placement of kitchen furniture. It is best to make your own drawing or sketch with the dimensions of the future furniture. In it, you must definitely find a display of the dimensions of the kitchen, communication and ventilation schemes.

Kitchen set made of furniture boards

The arrangement of furniture depends on its functionality and practicality in use. Usually, a kitchen set is installed in several ways:

  • Linearly along one wall;
  • In the form of the letters G or P;
  • With the addition of an island.

Before sketching, try to imagine what kind of kitchen you want. Consider the places of the built-in appliances: hob, oven, microwave, as well as the arrangement of other electrical appliances and lighting. Classic triangle: sink, stove, refrigerator are usually located close to each other.

note! The sockets and the gas shut-off valve must be in an accessible place.

The location of the sockets in the kitchen from self-assembled furniture boards

In the drawings of the kitchen with their own hands, five mandatory sections are distinguished from the furniture boards:

  • Working tabletop;
  • Gas or electric stove;
  • Washing;
  • Place for dishes;
  • Food zone.

Furniture set calculations

All communications are applied to the drawing, which it is desirable to carry out on a scale. Naturally, the sink needs to be done next to the drainage and water supply branch. There should be no more than 2 meters between the stove and the gas pipe.

When designing kitchen furniture, the growth of the hostess must be taken into account, because it is she who will spend a lot of time preparing food. In addition, the sketch should reflect:

  • Installation locations of sockets;
  • Location of switches and lamps;
  • Height of work surfaces;
  • Finding a sink.

Required tools and materials

Usually, if a man knows how to do some housework: change sockets, repair plumbing, screw on shelves, then the family has the necessary tools.

Do-it-yourself door installation

You can check if we have:

  • Hacksaw for wood or jigsaw;
  • Plane;
  • Drill;
  • Grinder;
  • Corner clamps;
  • Screwdrivers (screwdriver), hammer, nails;
  • Building level, tape measure, square;
  • Chisel.

Each master can add something of his own to this list.

When purchasing furniture boards, be aware that they can be of different thicknesses: 15 mm are suitable for the back walls of furniture, 20 mm for the rest of the cabinets, 25 mm are used for complex decors.

Furniture board gluing process

Furniture panels are cut according to drawings. This must be done carefully with a jigsaw, inaccuracies can lead to a skew of the entire headset. For a beginner, it makes sense to order cutting of the material at the place of purchase.

Fastening door mechanisms with a screwdriver

After cutting, you should have available parts for each cabinet, doors, shelves, countertops, sinks, fittings. Check the number of door hinges, handles, ball guides, furniture legs and other components. If you planned a countertop made of the same material, then for protection it is worth covering it with furniture oil in several layers, and siliconizing the ends and cuts.

Kitchen set made of furniture boards during assembly

Note! So that the cabinet doors do not touch the neighboring ones, they are made less in height and width by a few millimeters.

Assembly of cabinets

The prepared and numbered parts of each module are laid out where it is planned to be installed. Doing so will save you from confusion and the loss of some parts.

Kitchen layout from furniture boards

The assembly order includes the following:

  1. Details from the furniture board are pre-grinded, polished and varnished. If you decide to make the facades yourself, you can apply a simple pattern to the front of the doors using a hand router. Such work is best performed outdoors or in a special room, because there is a lot of dust and shavings.
  2. The assembly of the lower tier of furniture begins. First, the legs are marked and screwed with screws to the bottom of the cabinets.
  3. We pass to the sides. If smooth closing drawers are planned, then the guides are marked and screwed on. Usually for such boxes there are detailed installation diagrams. Drawers are assembled and inserted into the grooves. Where there will be ordinary shelves, special corners are attached.
  4. The sides are attached to the bottom panel with corner clamps. Screws are screwed in. To avoid through holes, do not rush to work with the drill. The top cover is attached in the same way.
  5. Plywood cut to the size of the cabinet is screwed on from the back. Facades are mounted last. Install them open. The doors are fixed at 95 ° and the attachment points are marked with a pencil. They plant the facades on hinges, attaching them to the sides with self-tapping screws.
  6. In conclusion, the handles are attached, and then the modules are filled with shelves, drawers, nets. The rest of the cabinets are also assembled.

Ready-made kitchen set in the interior of the kitchen

Installation of kitchen units

The entire set is assembled in a renovated kitchen with flat floors and dry walls.

  1. You need to put the furniture in place from the outer cabinet. The lower modules are leveled at the building level. If the horizontal is uneven, problems may arise when laying the countertop. After installation and alignment, the sections are connected to each other with screeds. To do this, drill a hole, insert the part and tighten.
  2. A countertop is laid on top of the cabinets and fastened with self-tapping screws. A pencil marks the place for the stove and sink, the holes for which are cut with a jigsaw.
  3. The next step in creating a kitchen with your own hands from furniture boards will be the installation of the upper tier. In contrast to the bottom line, hinged modules are attached to the walls. You need to carefully calculate the weight of each cabinet with shelves and fasteners. Usually they are hung with special hinges attached to the rear walls from above.
  4. The standard distance between base and top cabinets is approximately 65 cm. This is the height of a traditional backsplash. We add to it the size of the cabinet minus a few cm for the mount. The resulting number will be the height of the upper tier attachment.
  5. In conclusion, a hood, a sink, and a hob are mounted. Glass and mirror elements of the facades are inserted.

Kitchen interior from furniture boards

Making a kitchen with your own hands from a furniture bar is a simple task. With a great desire and a certain skill, you can get not only exclusive furniture for little money, but also the title of a home craftsman, and the respect of all household members.

Correctly selected furniture for the kitchen will provide comfort during work and will organically fit into the overall design. You can choose a ready-made kit, order custom-made production, or make a do-it-yourself kitchen set.

DIY wood kitchen set

Advantages

Even with a little experience in carpentry work, you can cope with the task. Making a kitchen with your own hands will allow:

  • Reduce the cost of the headset several times (to a minimum of 2). The difference is especially noticeable if, due to the peculiarities and layout of the kitchen, a standard set of furniture is not suitable, you need to make it to order;
  • Create an individual design scheme that best suits the functional requirements;
  • Make a unique kit, give it an original shape;
  • Be confident in high build quality at the lowest cost.

Luxurious wood-look corner kitchen with dark worktop

At the same time, it will take time to develop drawings and diagrams for making a kitchen set with your own hands, the choice of material, the manufacturing and assembly process itself. It is necessary to have skills in working with tools - this guarantees a quick result.

Material selection

It's easier to make a kitchen from chipboard with your own hands. To make the headset cheaper and maintain good performance, several types of material are used:

  • For the basis of the structure, ordinary chipboard slabs are suitable. The back walls can be made of fiberboard, the side and bottom walls can be made of laminated chipboard. When buying, you need to pay attention to the expiration class of phenol compounds. It is better to choose E1, it is strong enough and emits less phenol-containing substances than E2, E3. A more environmentally friendly option is MDF and solid wood, but they will cost more;

    Do-it-yourself corner kitchen set made of chipboard

  • Kitchen furniture fronts - doors and front walls of drawers must be made of a material that can withstand constant cleaning. They can be made of wood, with carved designs, glass inserts. You can buy ready-made facades from MDF. A more budgetary option is smooth chipboard boards, covered with paint or self-adhesive film. Their service life is much lower, in contrast to wooden furniture, which can be stored for more than one generation;

    Green MDF kitchen

  • The worktop must withstand moisture, temperature, and be scratch-resistant. A laminated or varnished chipboard board will quickly lose its appearance. Laminated or postforming is more suitable. The last option - a slab covered with a layer of plastic, resistant to impact, involves many options for color, pattern, can imitate the texture of a stone or wood.

    Ceramic tiles as a countertop for the work area

Important! If a stove is built into the kitchen set, the wood for the structure is not suitable for fire safety.

An expensive option is a countertop made of natural or artificial stone. At home, it is difficult to make a cut-out for embedding sinks and appliances. You can do the work in a specialized company, but you have to spend money.

This is what an artificial stone countertop looks like in the kitchen work area.

You should not make a modular kitchen from solid wood. The material is prone to shrinkage, shrinkage will lead to an uneven overall surface.

Required tools

For the manufacture of cabinets and the installation of a kitchen set with your own hands, you need:

  • Roulette, ruler;
  • Jigsaw;
  • Hacksaw, pliers, hammer;
  • File, sanding paper;
  • Stationery knife;
  • Electric drill and drills;
  • Screwdriver;
  • Screwdriver;
  • Electric planer;
  • Level (for greater accuracy - laser), plumb;
  • Workbench, vice;
  • Clamp.

Necessary tools for assembling a kitchen with your own hands

Of the fasteners you will need:

  • Confirmation screws;
  • Guides for drawers, it is better to choose ball;
  • Furniture ties for connecting sections;
  • Crocodile hinges for attaching doors to cabinets;
  • Dowels for table top installation.

Assembly of the lower drawers of a modular kitchen set

Additionally, you need to select handles for drawers and doors.

Metering features

First you need to decide what kind of design will be: angular, as in the photo, or straight. The first one saves space. It is easier for a beginner to do a modular design of the direct type. It is easier to move it away from the wall if necessary, and it is easier to replace or repair a separate cabinet. To make a corner kitchen with your own hands, you can use a photo of drawings with dimensions:

The project of the lower cabinets of the future kitchen set

Attention! When making a kitchen with your own hands, drawings and diagrams must be performed after the purchase of built-in appliances and sinks, in order to take into account their dimensions. If you purchase ready-made facades, you should focus on their parameters.

DIY plywood kitchen

When determining the design scheme, you need to take into account:

  • The presence of gas, sewer pipes and water supply - during installation, you will have to make recesses for them, and the cabinet for the sink is made without a back wall. For stability, you need to fix the walls of the structure with metal corners;
  • Hood size - a special cabinet can be made for it;
  • Dryer dimensions in a cupboard. It is better to purchase it in advance and adjust the dimensions of the pendant module to it.

Connecting water filters and other communications

The corner kitchen is designed with the same features in mind. For hanging cabinets, you need to determine a convenient location height. You can use drawings and diagrams in the photo to make a kitchen with your own hands:

DIY kitchen assembly process

Basic details

After determining the number of cabinets and their sizes, you can proceed to the manufacture of parts.

Marking places for fasteners

A standard cabinet consists of 4 parts:

  1. Horizontal (2 pieces). It is located between the side walls, to which it is attached with confirmation screws. Its width should be less than the finished cabinet by two thicknesses of the side walls. If the chipboard plate is 1.6 cm, and the width of the cabinet is 80 cm, then the size of the horizontal: 80- (1.6 * 2) = 76.8 cm;
  2. Side wall (2 pcs);
  3. Shelf (usually 1 piece). It can be screwed to the walls, then the width should be equal to the horizontal. If you make it removable and put it on shelf supports, for easy installation you need to make it 3 mm narrower than horizontal;
  4. Back wall (1 piece). To facilitate the construction, it is made of fiberboard. Height and width should be less than the parameters of the case by 5 mm. This eliminates the bulging of the wall with small cutting errors.

Cut material for the future headset

The parts are cut with a jigsaw after careful measurements. You can order a cut when purchasing materials. It will be done for an additional fee. The furniture company already has blanks for cutting. As a standard, their sizes are multiples of 15, which must be taken into account when drawing up drawings and diagrams for a kitchen set with your own hands. Blanks can be made according to individual sizes, but it costs more. The finished parts for each module must be numbered to avoid confusion during subsequent work.

Bottom Kitchen Cabinets Assemblies

Workpiece processing

When moisture gets inside the cut, the product swells and deforms. Gluing the edge on the edges of all parts will help to avoid this. It should match the color of the blanks. On the one hand, it is treated with glue, which melts when exposed to high temperatures.

Silicone-treated drawer joint corners

Edging is done with an iron and thick fabric:

  • The iron heats up to medium temperature;
  • The part must be cut up, measure and cut off the edge (with a margin of 2-3 cm), attach to the cut;
  • Heat the edge with an iron, pressing it firmly against the part. The movements are smooth, do not linger in one place for a long time, so as not to burn the tape. The glue will melt a little. Without waiting for cooling, press with a cloth rolled in several layers;
  • After cooling, cut off the protruding edges of the edge with a clerical knife, without scratching the surface of the workpiece;
  • Carefully file the cut edges so that there are no sharp and clinging areas.

Do-it-yourself edge trimming

For convenience, build a stand for workpieces from a board and two bars that are attached to it. Between them, you can put the part, freeing your hands for edging.

Varnishing the facade of the kitchen set

Assembly and installation

Before starting work, you need to sort the parts for each cabinet to make sure that they are complete and to save time during assembly.

Bottom cabinets

Assembling the lower cabinets for the kitchen

All parts are connected in the following order:

  1. Assemble the drawer (one or more, depending on the model). Attach the guides for the sliding mechanism to the outer sides, the parts of which are attached to the side walls of the cabinet;
  2. Twist the horizontal and lateral parts of the box, fix the shelf or holders;
  3. Check the diagonal - put the case with the front part on the floor, measure the distance from opposite corners with a tape measure, it should be the same;
  4. After nailing the back wall first on one side, re-check the diagonal. Fasten along all edges, the distance between nails or screws is 10 cm;
  5. Screw on the legs by turning the cabinet upside down.

Assembling the lower cabinets for the future kitchen

Install in the desired place, then screw the doors. After installing the pedestals, you can fix the tabletop.

Tops

The assembly principle of the case is similar to that of the lower cabinets. The upper modules can be fixed using mounting strips: one is screwed to the wall, the other to the cabinet. First, you need to determine at what level the mounted modules will be located. In order for the bar to be even, you need to use a level to outline the line of its future location. Do not measure the distance from the floor to the plank with a tape measure to avoid unevenness and distortions.

Fastening the upper cabinets to the mounting plate

After fixing the rail to the surfaces, you can hang the cabinets. Check their location with a level, use a clamp to pull the modules together. Place wooden spacers between the tool and the cabinet walls so as not to spoil the surface.

Upper cabinets of the kitchen set before and after painting

Inter-section ties will help to fix the cabinets together, for which you need to drill holes inside the cases. Hold a block of wood where the drill comes out to prevent chipping. The work ends with the installation of doors on the upper cabinets.

The final stage of assembling a kitchen with carved facades with your own hands

Modeled on an old kitchen

If the design of the installed headset is suitable in shape and size, but you need to replace it, you can use it as a basis for making a new kitchen with your own hands instead of drawings:

  • Disassemble the old modules into parts, number the details of each, so as not to confuse later;
  • Remove dust from them;
  • Take measurements according to which the parts of the new headset will be manufactured;
  • Cut out parts of the desired shape from a chipboard sheet;
  • Connect, fix new fittings, put in place.

DIY kitchen furniture decor

In the course of work, you can adjust the size of some parts if they do not suit you. You can rely on a photo of drawings and sizes for making a kitchen with your own hands.

The kitchen set gives the room a complete and holistic look. The functionality of the furniture is achieved thanks to spacious and ergonomic storage devices, fittings and original decor. Non-standard layouts require individual solutions and design ideas.

It is not difficult to make a kitchen set with your own hands if you have hands and a tool

The cost of custom-made furniture or finished products presented is not always available to the consumer. The technology of hand-made production provides for the assembly of a new headset, or the renewal of old furniture. The design of the future structure will require correct measurements.

Manufacturing of kitchen unitswill create a presentable design of furniture with the desired configuration.

Kitchen furniture design: measurements, calculations, diagrams, drawings

Do-it-yourself kitchen furniture calculation can be done on paper using a tape measure and a pencil. There are also modern programs available that allow you to create a headset based on the exact parameters and dimensions. The project reflects the format and type of construction, the location of communication lines.

It is important to think over the location of the working triangle in advance. The size of the sink, hob, oven and other overall household appliances is taken into account at the stage of project development. independently, you can use the PRO100 program. As a result, a drawing will be drawn up with a detailed description of the complete set. With the basic skills of descriptive geometry, you can easily design kitchen furniture without using programs.

Make the project in advance, it is advisable to contact a specialist

Having calculated the furniture for the kitchen yourself, and having drawn up a preliminary list of structural elements, you can start making blanks. A specialized furniture production that performs cutting of material will help save time and effort.

Options for furniture designs with facades, countertops: corner, rectangular and others

At the initial planning stage, you should decide on the type of kitchen set. It is recommended to give preference to simple products in order to create a homemade kitchen set with the required functionality. The choice depends on the area and layout of the room, personal preferences. There are several options for furniture designs:

The design according to the rules will allow you to make a room to fit your needs

Homemade kitchen furniture organically embodies classic models in the form of floor cabinets with a common tabletop. The product is completed with spacious drawers with pull-out mechanisms, allowing you to conveniently store and use dishes and kitchen utensils. The advantages of a simple modification are:

  • versatility of use in small and spacious rooms;
  • minimal time consumption and the possibility of modular assembly;
  • spaciousness and comfort of use;
  • complex cutting, specialized fittings will not be required.

Materials for making the headset: plywood, MDF, wood, chipboard

Today, craftsmen make kitchen sets using various materials:

  • Chipboard and MDF (it has a huge species diversity, lamination is used to enhance the quality characteristics);
  • postforming (variations in color solutions, durability and practicality of the material allow you to create original designs);
  • array (do-it-yourself kitchen set made of wood has a presentable look and strength characteristics).

Homemade kitchens are predominantly made from MDF, or laminated chipboard. The material is easy to process and does not require the use of special cutting devices. You can save costs by using uncoated chipboard when assembling the side parts; the back wall can be made of fiberboard.

Chipboard is popular in furniture making

Do-it-yourself plywood kitchen furniture has a lot of advantages. The material is easy to process, convenient for installation and operation. Special coatings are able to protect the base from moisture. The appearance of the product, with the original and correct design, is difficult to distinguish from expensive options.

Manufacturing of furniture parts to order

It is possible to make furniture from chipboard yourself by performing accurate marking and cutting of the material. Making parts to order will help reduce time costs. At home, without the presence of special equipment, it is difficult to ensure the quality of the cut and perform the processing of edges.

You can independently process the edge using a household iron. It is important to select the material for the edging that matches the color of the furniture body. The reverse side of the tape contains an adhesive that will firmly adhere the edge to the part.

Non-standard parts are produced using technological installations, allowing you to create an original headset decor. Manufacturers offering services for the production of furniture elements provide a wide range of colors and materials.

Manufacturing methods based on the old headset: alteration, restoration, painting, renovation

Before and after - see the difference

An old kitchen set can serve as the basis for a new product. Proven techniques allow you to redesign your design while preserving the geometry of your design. It is important to make sure that the solution is correct by evaluating the functionality and dimensions of the product. It is quite simple to make a kitchen set with your own hands from an old structure, you will need:

  • disassemble the product into its constituent parts;
  • perform cleaning and surface treatment;
  • measure the elements of the facade;
  • replace wearing parts of joints and fittings with new ones;
  • order the production of facade parts and perform assembly.

Acceptable options for updating an old headset can be painting the facade, decorating using decoupage technique, or pasting with a special film. If the surface has no defects and requires a change in design, these methods will allow you to create a stylish look for the headset. Self-adhesive film will change the color and texture of the surface, will increase the wear resistance of the furniture.

The original fittings will be a harmonious addition and will transform the facade of the furniture.

In the form of using the old furniture frame, they allow rational use of the structure basis, significantly saving money. Manufacturing of furniture is carried out according to standard schemes, therefore, if there is a functional headset, it is enough to update the facade.

Do-it-yourself kitchen furniture from scratch will take time, effort and skill. By keeping the body of the old headset, you can guarantee the quality of the result. Modern materials for finishing the facade will transform the interior, performing the function of the original furniture decor.

Decorating furniture is a troublesome but interesting procedure.

Tools for the production and installation of kitchen furniture

When deciding to make kitchen furniture yourself, you should stock up on the necessary tools:

  • measuring instruments: tape measure, ruler, plumb line, level;
  • devices for fixing parts: vise, clamps, table, or workbench;
  • tools for processing and cutting: electric jigsaw, saw, plane, drill, hacksaw;
  • hammer, screwdrivers, pliers, screwdriver;
  • a set of files, coarse sandpaper, crowbar.

The choice of fittings will require careful attention. The quality of the mechanisms and fasteners will ensure long-term and comfortable operation.

You will also need hinges, handles for cabinets and drawers, legs for pedestals, roller guides. A reliable design will not tolerate savings and low-quality materials.

When creating furniture with your own hands, you should remember about safety precautions. It is recommended to purchase a respirator, goggles and gloves. Woodwork is dusty and produces shavings that can be harmful to health. Replacing the tape measure with a laser rangefinder will help to avoid errors in measurements.

The tools must be of high quality so that everything can be done quickly

Step-by-step assembly of a kitchen set: how to do it yourself

A phased work plan will help from scratch. After completing the design and preparing the necessary tools and materials, you can proceed to the manufacture of elements, or order cutting in a furniture shop. On the finished parts, you should mark the fasteners and prepare the holes.

In accordance with the developed drawing, the pedestals are assembled in stages. Correctly assembling and making a kitchen set, initially provides for the manufacture of a frame with installed fittings. Roller guides must be installed at the same height on both sides to avoid skewing of the drawers. It is easy to damage the material and spoil the appearance of the product, so you will need to make accurate markings for the fasteners.

Then the boxes are mounted and the facades are fastened. Reliable fixation of the parts will be ensured by the use of screws. The back plane of the body is covered with plywood, or fiberboard. At the end, support legs are mounted if the stylistic solution provides for their presence. It is recommended to make a kitchen set with your own hands thoroughly, carefully securing the connections.

The back surfaces of the pedestals made of inexpensive materials make it easy to make holes for communication lines. After assembling the modules, the furniture elements are connected and fixed with clamps. To make a high-quality kitchen set with your own hands will help to regularly check the structure with a level, avoiding displacements. Next, the overall household appliances are installed and the kitchen countertop is mounted.

It is profitable and rational to make kitchen furniture yourself, thanks to the creation of an individual design. After fixing the countertop, it is possible to install the sink and connect the plumbing lines to household appliances. The final stage involves the installation of hinges and the fastening of the facade doors.

WATCH THE VIDEO

Guided by the generally accepted rules and secrets of the masters, you can make kitchen furniture with your own hands, or update an old set. As a result, the premises will acquire new outlines and functional furnishings. A kitchen set made with your own hands will emphasize the individuality and style of the interior.

The L-shaped furniture arrangement is appropriate for any area, and for small kitchens it is completely irreplaceable. A corner set is easiest to buy, but you can make and assemble yourself. What for? The second method has significant advantages:

  • A self-made kitchen will cost you 2-3 times cheaper than a factory one. There are facades, laminated chipboard, MDF, fittings for every taste on the market, and cutting of the material can often be done in the same store;
  • In addition, you can independently make a custom kitchen that will exactly match the room and your requirements for roominess and design;
  • And if you do everything right, then the appearance, ergonomics and durability of the kitchen cabinet will justify the time and effort spent. In addition, this work will be pleasant and interesting for you, and your loved ones will be grateful and proud!

It is impossible to describe in detail all the nuances of the work in one article, if you are a beginner, then we advise you to get acquainted with the site of the famous furniture maker Andrei Lappo and look at Vitaly Luzhetsky's channel on Youtube. And we will describe the general sequence, give tips, useful links, a selection of videos, as well as photo examples of work with cost estimates. Let's start with them.

Stage 1. Planning - drawing up drawings, thinking through the design, measurements

So, suppose you have already planned the design, color, additional chips (like the same boxes in the base) and a place for your future corner headset. Next, you need to make measurements, and then design a drawing with the data obtained.

Before taking measurements, you should determine the complete set of a corner kitchen set, which may include:

  • Corner sink and cabinet under it;
  • At least 2 cabinets to the left and to the right of the vanity unit with a washbasin. They can be niches for, or can be just storage cabinets;
  • Upper sections (2-5 and more cabinets);
  • Places for stationary equipment - refrigerator, stove, etc.

Advice! Vertical measurements are necessarily carried out at three points - in the middle, along the plinth, under the ceiling. This will allow you to level out the difference in measurements due to the curvature of the walls.

It is realistic to design, implement elements and assemble a kitchen, even if you only have a simple diagram drawn on graph paper or on a sheet of a notebook in a cage, where, for example, 1 cell corresponds to 10 cm.But it is better to make a thoughtful drawing, that is, a full-fledged three-dimensional color project using a special program, for example "PRO100".

When drawing up a drawing, you will also need to take into account the place where the gas pipe is inserted and the place where the hood is installed (the passage of the air duct route). A diagram or drawing is created with maximum detail, after which a material cutting map is drawn up. And for it, in turn, you need a list of assembly parts for each module. As a rule, to assemble a cabinet, you will need:

  • Top;
  • 2 side walls;
  • Shelves;
  • Facades;
  • The back wall is made of lightweight but durable chipboard;
  • Edge (with a margin of 12%).

And, of course, the kitchen should have a countertop and an apron.

Stage 2. We buy materials, make a cutting map, detailing and order a cut

Now we need to purchase all the necessary materials, draw up a cutting plan and detailing, and then order a cut. The cut material will be ready in 2-3 working days.

Advice! It is better to order sawing at the same store where you bought the chipboard, and not elsewhere. It is much more convenient and cheaper - you will not need to order delivery 2 times.

The nesting plan is the documentation that reflects which parts need to be cut from the chipboard sheet. The map allows you to: see how you can lay out the parts on the sheet, how many leftovers will be obtained after cutting, and determine how much material you need to make a corner set with your own hands.

You can make a cutting plan yourself in special programs, for example, in the Cutting program, or you can order it in the same store where you buy laminated chipboard.

The nuances when drawing up a cut map are as follows:

  1. Hinged modules of frame furniture are best made of 16 mm thick chipboard.
  2. For modules installed below, on the floor, chipboard 18 mm is used.
  3. The width of the wall cabinets is selected from the standard model range - 200, 250, 300 mm and so on (dimensions are multiples of 50 millimeters).
  4. To make the back wall from fiberboard, you need to reduce its dimensions in comparison with the parameters of the module by 4 mm.

Advice! Most craftsmen prefer BLUM fittings.

Stage 3. Preparation of surfaces and tools

The assembly of a corner kitchen necessarily involves a preparatory stage. So, all surfaces along which the furniture will be located must be made even, and the walls at the junction of the headset must converge at right angles. In order to assemble a corner set, you will need not only a well-developed detailed diagram, but also an appropriate tool:

  • Hammer;
  • Pliers;
  • Square ruler;
  • Jigsaw and circular saw;
  • Roulette;
  • Knife, awl;
  • Level;
  • Screwdriver;
  • Perforator;
  • Allen key for fasteners;
  • Drills with a diameter of 4.5 mm, 7 mm, 8 mm;
  • Confirmates (50x7) or self-tapping screws 3x16, 3x30;
  • Hair dryer or iron for edge glueing;
  • Conductor (optional, but highly desirable! The assembly will be easy and of high quality).

Advice! To install the confirmations, holes are first drilled in the parts to be joined, and then the fasteners are screwed in with a screwdriver.

Stage 4. Assembling the corner cabinet

When the drawing is completely ready and refined, and all the elements for assembly are prepared, the most crucial stage begins - the assembly of the corner cabinet with a sink. It is always collected first, and therefore the process is carried out with the utmost responsibility and thoroughness. Then, on the basis of the installed corner pedestal, you can make a ready-made headset by attaching the corresponding elements to it.

The main structural nuances of the corner pedestal are:

  • A hole in the countertop (almost always this cabinet is made with a sink);
  • Openings in the side or rear wall for the passage of the pipes supplying water to the sink, for the drainage outlet.

These holes are required if the corner cabinet with sink has chipboard or fiberboard back and side walls. But it is also possible that the side walls are not provided in this element, and the rigidity is provided by special connecting posts.

Stage 5. We collect the rest of the elements of the kitchen set

After the corner pedestal is assembled and installed, it will be possible to make the rest of the elements using pre-made drawings. The sequence of actions in this case is as follows:

  1. To assemble the main box and side pedestals, the necessary parts are sorted out and places for fasteners are outlined in them.

  1. The panels are fastened together, legs and rails for sliding systems are installed. To make it easy to assemble elements with sliding guides, you first need to assemble three walls of the box, insert them into the bottom of the fiberboard, and then fix the facade through an eccentric tie - so that the sleeve in the side wall captures the screw head from the front panel. The rollers on the guides must be at the back - this is necessarily provided by the drawing. The already assembled box is placed in a cabinet, inserting it there at a slight angle.

Advice:

  • Wooden dowels used as fasteners in blind holes are recommended to be glued;
  • The joints of the walls of the boxes can be treated with silicone so that the chipboard does not swell and crumble from moisture.

  1. Edging can be ordered from specialized companies along with the saw, or you can do it yourself. Glue an edge of a suitable color to the visible ends of the chipboard, ironing it with an iron in the silk ironing mode, that is, on 2k. Cut off the excess edge along the edges with a clerical knife.

  1. Mark out the countertop slab and cut it off. The joints must be treated with a sealant, and the ends are closed with a strong metal bar.

  1. Wall-mounted cabinets can be fixed using a mounting strip - one part of it is fixed to the wall, and the other from the back of the cabinet. However, the drawings can provide for the usual hinges.

  1. Then you need to install the facades.

  1. It remains to build the technique into niches.

  1. The final stage of the assembly is the installation of decorative plugs for fasteners and a plastic skirting board that hides the gap between the wall and the countertop.

In order to make a high-quality set yourself so that kitchen furniture made with your own hands will become an object of special pride, immortalized by photographs, you must at least have an idea of where to start. We suggest that you familiarize yourself with the stages of work and what is required for this.

Materials for the manufacture of kitchen furniture with your own hands should correspond to the conditions of the further operation of the headset as much as possible. What do you plan to use for the furniture body:

  • solid wood version - a classic of the genre;
  • from chipboard - budget;
  • from old furniture, with the proper skill, it can be practically free, not counting the cost of new fasteners and accessories.

Whatever materials you agree to take as a basis for making furniture, before starting work, be sure to study the instructions on how to make headset items from this material. Everywhere has its own specifics for each type of furniture.

Material type Peculiarities Advantages disadvantages
Natural, sustainable material with unique texture and color. Durable - depending on the type of rock, the service life is from 15 years to several tens. The material is sensitive to changes in humidity and temperature. Requires treatment with impregnations, antiseptics of all parts.
Chipboard The density of European samples is superior to domestic samples. The composition contains more glue and paraffin. A budget version of the material, easy to process. It is easy to carve out details from it. With low quality, it can have low strength and give off an unpleasant odor.
Chipboard The surface is covered with a protective film during production (laminated). Cheaper than MDF, resistant to harsh operating conditions. If the moisture resistant layer was applied by caching, the film may lag.
MDF Density can be superior to natural wood. Outperforms chipboard in terms of strength and flexibility. Convenient for molding. Suitable for decorative items. Painting is required, more expensive than chipboard.
Drywall It is a sheet of construction paper layers with a layer of gypsum dough with various additives. Practical, resistant to stress, long service life of structures. It is possible to manufacture a wide variety of designs. Fragile, may crack during operation. Not designed for very heavy weights.

Having decided on the material from which you will make kitchen furniture with your own hands, carefully approach the choice directly on the spot.

The solid wood should have a uniform, dense pattern of annual rings. Be sure to make sure there are no cracks and chips, fiber delamination. Avoid wood with knots. In the future, this material defect will affect the quality of the parts.

Chipboards must be even and free from defects. Do not take unnecessarily thin sheets, as the frame of the furniture box will carry a sufficient load. If there is a protective film, then it is better to take lamination, and not the cached version. The ideal option is MDF.

Do-it-yourself kitchen furniture made of drywall can be an excellent option, since moisture-resistant sheets have been made for a long time. Furniture made of this material can become a real decoration of your home. However, this material requires a wooden or other frame on which the metal profile and parts will be attached.

Stages of making kitchen furniture

The idea of homemade furniture is very relevant in homes where the kitchen is small or has a non-standard layout. If you make custom-made furniture for specific dimensions, it may turn out to be more expensive than its standard counterparts. In addition, when it comes to furniture for a country kitchen, it is tempting to use the details of old furniture in order to spend a minimum on the purchase of materials.

The manufacture of furniture, be it wood, chipboard, drywall, after the cutting of the parts, which you could do yourself or order from specialists, contains 3 mandatory stages:

  • work on the preparation of furniture parts - edge processing, impregnation with antiseptics and other protective compounds;
  • direct assembly of furniture modules;
  • finishing installation of the furniture set as a whole.

To make homemade furniture truly transform the kitchen, and you proudly show off a photo of a headset made with your own hands at home, watch a detailed video of the step-by-step process to understand the specifics of each step.

Measurements and project creation

The production of kitchen furniture is done on the basis of a project. For those who have started cutting parts without following this point, the result will most likely be unusable. Answer yourself honestly whether you can do the drawings and diagrams with your own hands accurately and competently, taking into account all the necessary nuances.

If someone you know has recently purchased a headset that fits into the dimensions of your apartment, do not hesitate to ask for a visit and thoroughly study all the details and take measurements on the spot. You can go to the store with ready-made headsets. You will, of course, have to withstand the increased attention of consultants, but you will be able to study the range of kitchen furniture made of plasterboard with your own hands and it will turn out to be original and of high quality in terms of layout.

The drawing must be clear and accurately show the location of the front nests and drillings. Important: 1 mm is taken as a unit of measurement - this point is fundamental!

In addition, consider the allowances for bevelling and between parts to be cut:

  • edge - 2 mm;
  • individual parts - 5 mm.

Take measurements on the territory free of furniture. Keep in mind that there will be an error in any house - whether it is a Soviet building or a more modern one. Use a simple pencil to mark on chipboard or other material. The marker can even show through the decorative coating. Be sure to number the parts before assembling. Consider the location of large household appliances - refrigerator, stove, sink. Don't forget the pipes. Leave at least 650 mm space between the drawers and the worktop.

Decide which type you will use - straight or angled. You can also make kitchen furniture based on a ready-made drawing. You can choose an option on the Internet or order a project, for example, for undergraduate students. It will come out cheaper than the professional work of a designer, but they will use quality software to calculate the project.

After drawing up the drawing, do not forget about the cutting plan. This document will help you see the location of parts on sheets of material, calculate the required amount. Leave certain supplies:

  • from the edges of the sheet - 10 mm;
  • cut - 4 mm;
  • at the cut point - if necessary.

It is important to arrange the parts in such a way as to ensure a high-quality through-cut. It is better to use special programs for cutting, but you can also manually, although it is longer.

After preparing all the drawings, proceed to the calculation of parts. You can competently make kitchen furniture by creating a sketch of the module on separate A4 sheets - you need to write down everything you did, their number, parameters. Remember to consider the thickness of the material you are using. Moreover, if a plate or sheet can be produced in different thicknesses, calculate the material for several options:

  • to calculate the parameters of the internal shelf, subtract double the thickness of the sheet from the module width;
  • the back wall of chipboard with your own hands, subtract 3 mm from the width and height of the future module;
  • for facades - the total width is halved, minus 3 mm.

Having calculated everything you need, make a list for ordering the necessary materials and elements. It is better to order milling for hinges. This will save time, and the purchase of a milling cutter will cost you about the same cost.

Materials and tools

Check the material for kitchen furniture with your own hands for defects, "substandard". Decide in advance what the facades will be - buy or do it yourself. For the back walls, take the sheets with the smallest thickness. Medium - for shelves, vertical parts. The most durable option is chosen on the countertop. If you are planning drywall, then make a frame with your own hands from wood, purchase metal profiles.

Accessories are required: edge, tie, legs, drawer guides, dryers, hinges, handles, shelf supports, hooks. Fasteners - finishing nails, dowels, screws, screws. Take care of the tools:

  • circular saw (hacksaw) - used for sawing parts;
  • pencil, tape measure;
  • confirmations;
  • screwdriver, emery sheet, hexagon, primer;
  • manual router for wood - used for profiling edges, excavating nests for fittings;
  • drill, Forsner drill - for drilling holes for furniture hinges;
  • level, laser rangefinder;
  • iron (glue the edges);
  • screwdriver and / or electric drill;
  • jigsaw;
  • electric plane / plane.

Get to work, making sure you have everything you need.

Material preparation

Kitchen furniture made of wood, particle board or drywall begins with the preparation of materials and the processing of parts. After the markings have been applied to the sheet, do not forget to outline the awnings, handles, and other fasteners. It is better to use cardboard templates for marking. The holes are drilled immediately.

Use a circular saw to cut out the parts. Do this from the inside to keep the edge neat on the outside. For wood and slabs, the first step is to process the edge. Facing can be done with either melamine or plastic. The edge protects the material from moisture and swelling. Use an iron. After gluing and the material has cooled, cut off the protrusions at 45 °, and then process the fold with sandpaper.

For drywall, preparation consists in marking and fixing metal guides. If it is assumed that the part will carry a significant load, additionally use a reinforcement from a bar.

Build and install

To assemble a kitchen made of wood with your own hands, fiberboard, drywall, the basics of events are based on the same principles:

  • it is necessary to separate all the elements, arrange them according to the list and delimit them so that it is clear where which module is;
  • if not already done, then carry out an antiseptic treatment, varnish (3 layers at least);
  • first, facades are attached to the varnished elements of the module, then they are installed in place;
  • the upper cabinets can be hung as they are, but to install the lower ones, you will need a level without fail;
  • the table top is laid without fixing, the markings are made for the sink, stove, taps. Remove the countertop, make holes;
  • before installing the tabletop canvas on the pedestals, do not forget to process and varnish it, if the surface requires it.

The place for washing is treated with sealants, as it will be exposed to regular moisture. The sequence is exactly this - cabinets, then the countertop.

Installation of facades

Facades can be made from a variety of materials - wood, chipboard, plastic, glass. Consider the weight of the front, depending on the material used when choosing the hinges. Wooden will be heavier, and you need to fix it on a high-quality base. Particle boards and plastics are lighter.

Deaf or paneled facade panels must exactly match the dimensions of the box, otherwise, after installation, you will receive sloppy protrusions, which will be extremely problematic to fix.

If you have made or purchased facades, make sure before installation that all edges are processed around the perimeter. This is important, since during operation it is the facade that will be exposed to the maximum effect - it is cleaned, moisture and the main pollution get on it.

The installation of facades on the box is carried out according to the marking of the hinged hinges. Therefore, it was very important to calculate all the markup at the stage of the project. It will not work here by eye - after all, the loop can get to the level with the shelf and, as a result, not work as it should.
