How to properly connect the outdoor unit of the air conditioner. Do-it-yourself air conditioner installation: we do the installation according to the instructions in the apartment. Choosing a site for the system

Split systems are special equipment that ensures the creation of a high-quality and efficient air conditioning system. It is represented by two different blocks, one of which is located in a specific room, and the other is mounted on the wall of the building. In another way, such a system is called a standard air conditioner. It is not difficult to install a split system if you know exactly what elements it consists of, what tools should be used and in what sequential actions the work is being implemented.

The principle of the air conditioner

This device has a rather complex design, therefore, before direct installation, you should study well what components it consists of. The principle of its operation consists in the following processes:

  • through a nozzle or die, which is a small hole, a refrigerant, represented by a low-boiling solution with a high heat of vaporization, is supplied to the evaporator under significant pressure;
  • in the evaporator, the refrigerant first expands, and then boils and evaporates, which leads to the absorption of a huge amount of heat;
  • a lot of water condensate appears on the radiator of the evaporator, draining into a special container and discharged outside through the drain pipe;
  • refrigerant vapor from the evaporator is constantly evacuated by a special compressor, the principle of which is similar to a vacuum pump;
  • as the pressure increases behind the pump, the refrigerant heats up, so it goes into a unique supercritical state, therefore, it is presented in the form of a fog;
  • in this form, it passes into the condensation chamber, in which a special radiator with a fan is also installed;
  • in this chamber, the temperature of the refrigerant decreases, so it turns into a liquid state;
  • through the die again it enters the evaporator, after which the complete cycle is repeated.

The nuances of the correct operation of the air conditioner

Split systems, the installation of which is carried out on their own, must be installed in such areas of the room so that optimal operating conditions are provided for them.

For this, the following important points are taken into account:

  • it is not allowed to connect cold zones of equipment with hot ones, since this will lead to a significant consumption of electrical energy, therefore, the installation is carried out according to this rule;
  • dust or debris is not allowed to enter the system, since various crumbs and dust can easily cause damage to the vacuum pump, which is the most important element of the device;
  • during operation, it is impossible to break the tightness of the system, since even the smallest gaps can become the basis for the evaporation of a low-boiling liquid - a refrigerant;
  • the unit located on the street is mounted in such a way that it is slightly lower than the internal element, which will have a positive effect on the efficiency of the compressor and on energy consumption;
  • it is desirable that the outdoor unit is located in a cool and shady section of the building wall, since its heating leads to difficulties in the operation of the system;
  • the drain tube is led out in such a way that it does not have any bends.

If all of the above conditions are followed, the equipment will be installed correctly, efficiently and optimally.

What is Air Split?

Split systems are represented by two different units. The evaporative element is located inside the room that needs cooling, and the condensing element is located outside. Modern equipment has not only the ability to cool rooms, but even heat them.

If expensive equipment is purchased, then it can consist of one outdoor element, to which several indoor units are connected. Although the cost of all elements will be quite high, however, during operation, the created system is considered economical.

The nuances of installing the device

The installation of the air conditioner, the instructions for which are given below, are usually carried out in the process of carrying out repair work in a particular room. The fact is that quite complex and specific work is being performed. For this, electrical wiring is drawn along the wall of the room, and a drainage tube is also displayed. For an attractive appearance of the entire room and facade, it is advisable to hide all the elements of the installation behind finishing materials.

Before direct work, tools are prepared that will be useful for installation. These include:

  • puncher for creating holes in the walls;
  • reinforcement reinforcement required for concrete walls;
  • a pipe cutter that cuts the tubes for moving the refrigerant;
  • set required for flaring these pipes;
  • an example that provides optimal stripping of the ends of pipelines;
  • a low-power manual pump, with the help of which the tightness of the device is checked;
  • a vacuum pump that evacuates the system, which is necessary before it is completely filled;
  • phase indicator;
  • pressure gauge;
  • tester used in the implementation of electrical work.

Consistent technology for installing a split system

Do-it-yourself installation of the air conditioner is carried out in certain sequential stages. A lot of attention and time is given to each action to ensure the perfect work result. These stages include:

  • The split system itself is purchased, consisting of two blocks. Tubes and other elements, materials and tools are also purchased to ensure efficient installation of equipment. Usually, a copper pipe is bought as a full-fledged coil, and all the ends must be seamed. Dents or other imperfections are not allowed on the elements.
  • The tubes are cut to the required length of the elements. Next, they are scraped. After that, they are expanded.
  • It is determined exactly where the main elements of the system will be located - indoor and outdoor blocks, for which markings are applied to the walls of the room and walls. It is not allowed to mount the indoor unit above different elements of the heating system. Also, curtains or other screens should not cover the unit. It is not recommended that other powerful electrical appliances are located in the same room as the equipment.
  • Electrical wiring is laid in accordance with the markings. Air conditioners are powerful devices that consume more than 1.5 kW, therefore, high-quality and reliable wiring is selected for them, the cross-section of which will be more than 1.5 square meters. mm. An automatic shutdown device is also installed.
  • The outdoor unit of the system is mounted. If the work is not performed on the first floor, then it is best to entrust them to specialists, since it is not only difficult, but also extremely dangerous to carry out the work on your own at a considerable height. It is allowed to work independently only if the installation is carried out on a balcony or loggia. High-quality and reliable brackets are used for installation. This arrangement of the outdoor unit is not only easy to install, but also facilitates the process of servicing the entire system in the future.
  • To connect communications, a hole of a suitable diameter is created in the wall. At the same time, it is important to clarify in advance where the reinforcement passes through the wall. The diameter of the resulting hole is created more than 8 cm.
  • The pipes are being prepared and the pipeline is being laid.
  • Electrical connections are established between the two units of the system. For this, stranded wires equipped with insulation are used.
  • The operability and tightness of all equipment elements is checked.
  • A vacuum is created in the system. This is necessary in order to completely eliminate air from it, and together with the dust present in it. Additionally, this process eliminates moisture found in individual elements of the equipment. To do this, a nipple is installed in the desired area of the device, which is carefully tightened. A reliable and efficient vacuum pump is connected to it. The pumping of the system begins, and usually the work is carried out within one hour, which will ensure complete evaporation of moisture and evacuation of air from the system.
  • The equipment is being filled with refrigerant. For this, an optimal refrigerant cylinder is used. It connects to the equipment through an adapter equipped with a pressure gauge so that the pressure in the system can be easily monitored.
  • The equipment is connected to electricity. For correct operation, the designations on the terminal strip are taken into account.
  • The resulting system is tested to ensure its operability and safety of use. When the air conditioner is turned on, the test mode is automatically turned on, which can also be turned on through the remote control.
  • The bundle between the blocks is additionally insulated.
  • The previously created hole is closed in the wall.

Thus, installing an air conditioner with your own hands, the video of which can be viewed below, is considered an understandable, but also complex work that requires a thorough study of the instructions, the use of high-quality materials and a competent approach to each stage of work.

Air conditioner installation video

To ensure the smooth operation of the air conditioner, it is very important to correctly install it. We want to tell you about the procedure and methods for installing wall-mounted climate systems with our own hands and talk about the tools necessary for this.

Can I install a wall split system myself? You can, however, you need to stock up on the necessary tools, understand the general rules and carefully study the installation instructions that are attached to the technical documentation of the air conditioner.

Tools and materials for mounting a wall split system

It is impractical to purchase a tool for one installation, since you will need not only general construction and metalwork, but also special equipment. It is good if it is already on the farm or you can borrow it, rent it.

Remember insurance

Determining the installation location of the indoor unit

The placement of the indoor evaporating unit should be such as to create the most comfortable microclimate for people, excluding directed flows of cold air into the head of a sleeping child or on the owner's favorite chair.

Indoor unit placement and airflow direction

In addition, there are rules for the placement of HVAC equipment, which must be adhered to. Make sure the location is correct before attaching the mounting plate to the wall.

Fundamental rules:

  1. The ventilation holes in the walls must not be blocked.
  2. The difference in height between the outdoor and indoor unit cannot be more than 5 m.
  3. It is better to mount the indoor unit on a load-bearing wall. A thin interior partition may not support the weight of the structure.
  4. It is necessary to provide easy access to the filter.
  5. It is advisable to place the evaporating unit at a height of at least 2.3 m above the floor level.
  6. Do not install the wall system too close to the ceiling. For various models, this distance is at least 7-25 cm.
  7. Install next to an electrical outlet. If it is necessary to lengthen the cord, do not extend the cable, but replace it with a wire of the required length. When installing powerful air conditioners (more than 4.5 kW), a residual current device must be included in the wiring.
  8. It is advisable that direct sunlight does not fall on the indoor unit. Do not place it under fluorescent lights either - this will damage the plastic of the case.
  9. When installing in a kitchen, make sure the distance to the microwave is at least 1 m.
  10. Units are not installed in laundries, bathrooms.

Determining the place for mounting the outdoor unit

The outdoor compressor unit must be mounted on strong, sturdy brackets that can support its weight. Do not take too thin metal. Outdoor units are often mounted between window openings or under a sill.

When choosing a location for the unit, make sure that in the event of repairs, specialists will have access to it. The installation location should not be selected near the gas pipe where leakage is possible. The unit should be protected from rain and midday sun by a canopy and well ventilated. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain the manufacturer's recommended distances from the block to other surfaces.

If the air conditioner is installed on the ground floor, it makes sense to consider an anti-vandal box for placing the outdoor unit.

Stages of installation of a two-block system

In order for the system to work without problems, all installation steps must be completed correctly.

1. Begin the installation with a marking for the mounting panel of the indoor unit of the split system. To the designated conditional rectangle - the landing site of the indoor unit, you need to attach a mounting plate or mounting panel, align them with a level and mark the drilling sites. After that, drill holes with a diameter of 8 mm at least 32 mm deep, hammer in the dowels, attach the mounting panel to the wall, check the correct installation with a level again and fix the metal base with self-tapping screws with a press washer.

2. Guided by the connection diagram, find the place where the freon comes out and mark the place for drilling the duct to the outdoor unit with a slight slope towards the street for the unimpeded release of condensate. At the point of drilling with a knife, remove the wallpaper circle at the place of the future channel. This will create a neat hole when drilling. Secure the garbage bag with masking tape under the future hole. So there will be much less debris and dust in the room, especially if you do not have an industrial vacuum cleaner.

The length of the drill is taken depending on the thickness of the walls, the diameter of the drill (~ 45 mm) must correspond to the section for the passage of communications. Drill a hole and insert a flexible tube to protect walls and pipes.

3. Next, take care of the safety belts: the work goes to the outer wall. You need to fix the brackets to install the outdoor unit. To do this, mark the fasteners and drill holes for bolts with a length of at least 100 mm with a dowel for a drill Ø 12 mm. Attach the brackets to the mounting location and bolt them.

After installing the outdoor unit on the brackets, fix it with bolts Ø 8-10 mm with nut and washer.

4. Measure the length of the freon line. To do this, we apply a tape measure to the indoor unit and pass it through the formed communication channel to the connection point on the external unit, leaving a margin of at least 10 cm.Cut a copper tube of the required length with a pipe cutter, process it from burrs with a reamer, install a flare nut and fold it at the very edge.

The edges of the pipes must be sealed with electrical tape up to the connection itself.

5. After snapping off the front cover of the indoor unit of the air conditioner, unscrew the plug for connecting the cable connecting the indoor and outdoor units. After feeding the cable through the mounting hole, connect the wires to the individual terminals according to the diagram shown next to the terminal box (or in the air conditioner passport). Collect everything in reverse order.

Attention! Dust and dirt must not get inside: this can provoke a short circuit and fire.

6. Connect the air conditioner drain hose with the mounting tape to the 16 mm Ø reinforced plastic pipe, which will act as a drain. Very carefully, so as not to damage the copper pipes, connect them to the indoor unit of the air conditioner using an adjustable and torque wrench, screwing the conical nut until it clicks. Before using the wrenches, make sure the nut can be tightened unhindered by hand. Slip rubber tubing over the copper tube.

Wrap the line with vinyl insulation.

Guide the merged line through the hole in the wall. Try not to bend the tubes too much or too often. A drainage pipe is laid under the connecting line in such a way that there is no stagnation of condensate or reverse flow - the direction is "only down". Install the indoor unit on the mounting panel on the wall. Make sure that the unit is firmly and securely seated on the mount and is horizontally aligned.

Connect the trunk and electric cable to the outdoor unit of the air conditioner in the same way.

7. Using a vacuum pump, fill the freon line within 15 minutes. To do this, connect the service pump to the vacuum pump with a flexible hose using a four-way valve, from which you need to remove the cover.

When the preset vacuum values are reached, turn off the vacuum pump, open the valve by 1/4 for 10 s and check the line for leaks using a soap solution at the joints. Disconnect the vacuum pump hose from the system.

If the length of the line exceeds 7 m, you will have to refill the circuit with freon.

Attention! Make sure that all elements are connected securely, otherwise liquid leakage is possible!

8. Isolate all communications on the street with vinyl tape, securing with plastic ties. Using a hex wrench, open the service taps on the outdoor unit of the air conditioner and run freon into the line. Install the cover of the outdoor unit of the air conditioner by fixing it with screws. Align the drain tube with a downward slope and secure it to the bracket with plastic clips.

Attention! In reversible models, the drain pipe is inserted into the outdoor unit through the hole in the bottom panel, and then connected to the condensate drain line.

Seal the hole in the wall, fix and close all communications indoors and outdoors with a decorative box and plug the air conditioner into a power outlet. Check how the remote works, listen to the noise. If everything is ok, you have installed your air conditioner.

How to connect an air conditioner

When users ask this question, they can mean two different meanings:

  1. How to connect an air conditioner or how to connect split-system units to each other;
  2. How to connect the air conditioner to the mains.

You need to know that there is an "interconnect" connection of wires and connection of the "power" of the device. In this article, we will address both of these issues.

Answer to the first question:

In addition to the fact that the blocks need to be correctly positioned and secured, it is also necessary to correctly connect them together. In general terms, for the split system to work, you need:

  1. Bring the drainage to where it is required (most often to the street, very rarely to the sewer). The indoor unit has a drainage outlet that needs to be "built up" and brought out together with the main communications;
  2. Connect power to the desired unit (this will be the answer to the second question);
  3. Connect the two blocks with communications. We will consider this in more detail below.

What communications are meant, and what specifically need to connect:

  • thin copper tube (in thermoflex);
  • thick copper tube (in thermoflex);
  • interconnect cable. Most often this is a five-core cable. The essence of its connection is to connect the wires to the external unit to the same terminals as to the internal unit. Usually there is a detailed description in the instructions for the air conditioner. The figure below shows the wiring of one air conditioner;

  • rarely included with the air conditioner additional interconnect (two-core) wire. It will also need to be connected accordingly.

Answer to the second question:

There are two main ways to connect the air conditioner to the mains

  • plug into an outlet. In this way, small household air conditioners with a cooling capacity of up to 4 kW are connected. Do not plug other electrical appliances into the same outlet;
  • through the machine. Air conditioners with a cooling capacity of more than 4 kW must be connected through an automatic machine. It is also advisable to connect all inverter air conditioners through an automatic machine so that the phasing is observed.

Inverter air conditioners most often have a network connection to an external unit. On / off air conditioners (non-inverter) are most often connected to the network through the indoor unit. In this case, the indoor unit may have a wire with or without a plug. The wire has three cores - yellow-green ("ground"), blue ("zero"), brown ("phase").

The figure shows the connection of the external unit. The left block is the "interconnect" connection (4 wires in this case). The right block (power supply) connects the three-phase power supply of the air conditioner.

Important for all air conditioners: If the indoor unit of the split system does not have a wire with a plug, then when connecting the power (to the desired unit), it is necessary to observe the phasing. The neutral wire must be connected to the "N" terminal, and the phase to the "L" or "P" terminal.

A split system for indoor air conditioning is a more complex system than a conventional air conditioner. But it is worth noting that installing a split system with your own hands is a completely feasible process for every owner of this device.

Installation instructions

Installation instructions for split systems include the following items:

  1. Choosing a place for the system.
  2. Air conditioner installation.
  3. Installation of the internal system compartment.
  4. First, test run.

Of course, today there are many specialized companies involved in the installation and maintenance of indoor air conditioning systems. But most of the owners, in order to save money, prefer to independently mount the device on site, and subsequently to maintain it, this is possible, even if before that you did not have any skills and did not come across this equipment. It's just worth considering one factor when you install and configure a new system yourself, keep in mind that the store's warranty for such equipment will no longer apply.

Choosing a site for the system

The air conditioning system should be located in a location that will not become obstructed later. Air intakes and air distribution openings must be fully accessible.

Outdoor and indoor units should preferably be on the same level. If this is not feasible, then the maximum allowable difference in height difference should be no more than 5 meters.

As for the wall on which you will hang the blocks, it must be flat and strong enough to withstand the rather large weight of the structure. That is why you should avoid installing the air conditioner on the interior partitions.

Installation rules for split systems completely exclude direct sunlight from entering the internal unit of the device. The condenser grid itself must be completely protected from direct rays. If the outdoor unit to be installed is to be installed on a roof, its front side should be turned towards the shade side.

It is also necessary to provide conditions for the installation of a drainage system, through which the condensate formed during the operation of the unit will be diverted to the street block.

The plastic, from which the indoor unit is most often made, is very sensitive to known fluorescent lamps, therefore it is advisable to install the device in a place that is far from them.

And one more important condition. The inner compartment should be at least 1 meter from the microwave oven, since the radiation emitted by the microwave oven during operation negatively affects the operation of the installation and causes interference.

Choosing a place for the outdoor unit

When installing the outer compartment, the most important thing is a strong mount. The wall should be flat, fastenings in the form of special brackets should be installed so as to damp the vibration that occurs during the operation of the device as much as possible.

It is necessary to install the split system yourself so that the outer part of the system is located in a place accessible for subsequent installation and maintenance work. Of course, all air intakes should not be obstructed by anything.

Air conditioner installation

Before proceeding with the installation of the air conditioner, you need to take care of the availability of the necessary funds. You will need the following tools for installing split systems:

  • drilling hammer;
  • pipe cutter;
  • flaring tool;
  • pump;
  • a device that measures pressure in a liquid.

Installation of the device includes the following operations:

  1. Initially, open the front panel and unscrew the screws from the cover that covers the electrical unit, it must be pulled out.
  2. An electrical cable is connected to the unit and the cover is replaced. A couple of useful notes, the unit itself should not be lower than 2m 30 cm from the floor surface, the outlet should be close to the element, and be grounded.

Drainage system installation

The drainage hose must pass under the connecting pipe. It should not twist or bend. In the future, the hose must be wrapped with heat-insulating materials. Where the drainage line runs close to the wall, it is advisable to lay inserts of heat-insulating material. And the track itself is usually wrapped with felt tape.

It is imperative to check the reliability of the connection of the joints of the drainage system, as this can subsequently lead to leaks. Next, the pipe is passed through a hole in the wall, and the block, which will be located inside the room, is hung on the wall.

Experts recommend adhering to the following restrictions when connecting the pipe line. On the inside, the number of possible bends in the track should not exceed 10 in total. The radius of the most possible bend should not be greater than 10 cm.

The cap from the evaporator tube must only be removed immediately prior to installation. First, the air is released, then the nut on the connecting pipe of the evaporator is unscrewed. It is imperative to apply oil to the junction.

Hole tightness

Self-assembly of a split system must be accompanied by careful sealing of all joining holes. It all starts with sealing a hole in the wall. For this, a regular standard putty is suitable.

The drainage pipe is usually tightly fixed with a special clamp. As for the electrical connection and the cable connecting the blocks for data transmission, they must be connected in accordance with a special diagram. Usually it is attached to the device passport. Depending on the type of installation and manufacturer, the connection must also be made.

The cable and data line are connected to the corresponding terminals, which are usually marked with different colors. The cables connecting the two units must also be secured with a special cable tie.

During the installation process, be sure to pay attention to the following factors:

  • The electrical box must be securely fixed and closed. If this condition is not met, then the risk of electric shock or elemental fire increases, since dust, dirt or water can easily get inside.
  • The electrical connection cable must never go along with the cold line. The cable, through which the freon passes, heats up during the operation of the installation, therefore, their contact should be excluded.

How to bleed air

Do-it-yourself installation of a split system means that you will also have to do it yourself to bring the system itself into working order. Initially, it is necessary to get rid of the airiness of the system. This will require bleeding air from the system.

  1. The service connection nut and the plugs on the liquid and gas valves must be unscrewed.
  2. To do this, turn the gas valve 90 degrees with an ordinary hexagon. counterclock-wise. After counting about 10 s. turn back and close it. Then apply normal soapy water to check that there are no gaseous leaks.
  3. If you do not find any leaks, repeat the procedure again, but after 10 seconds do not close it back, but press the fitting for service work. There should be steam, which means that air has started to come out of the system.

Additional refueling with freon

The maximum length of the connecting hoses through which the freon moves should not be more than 7 meters. But in the case when another installation of the system is impossible for one reason or another, it is necessary to increase the length of the refrigerant route. In this case, a mandatory refueling of freon into the system will be required.

When all the work has been completed and additional refueling of freon into the system is made, if necessary, the next step will be the need to make a test run of the installation.

It is advisable to take care of your own safety before this action. Pressing the forced start button will activate the system. Sometimes the system beeps twice when it is turned on. This indicates that you can control the device using the remote control. In order to check its operation, you should also alternately press the buttons on the remote control.

Unlike mobile air coolers, consisting of a single unit, domestic split systems require additional financial costs for installation. It is quite possible to reduce costs: study the detailed guide on how to install a new air conditioner in an apartment and do the installation yourself.

Preparatory stage

Split systems are most often used for air conditioning of private houses and apartments, since they are reliable, convenient and compact. The air conditioning unit consists of two blocks - internal and external, connected by two freon tubes, an electric cable and a drainage line.

Warning. When buying a new air conditioner, consider an important nuance: all freon is pumped into the outdoor module, and the inner one is empty. Do not open the valves on the side of the machine until you have connected the piping.

Installation of "splits" is much more difficult than installing floor and window air conditioners. Here, 2 separate blocks must be correctly placed outside and inside the room, laid and tightly connected to the lines. The issue of connecting to the mains is easier to solve - a line is laid to the installed indoor module, protected by a circuit breaker.

What you need to do before proceeding with self-installation:

  1. Buy additional materials.
  2. Prepare special tools and fixtures.
  3. Determine the location of both units and the route for laying highways with freon.

The arrangement of the blocks of the split system is subject to certain rules. The flow of cooled air from the indoor unit should not directly blow people around, and the maximum distance from the outdoor unit should not exceed 5 m. Most often, the unit is placed on a side partition next to a window and an external wall. Technological indents from walls and ceilings are shown in the diagram.

Now a few tips on where to install the outdoor unit:

Note. Inverter air conditioners are quieter than usual air conditioners, but the noise of the fan is still audible at night.

List of tools and materials

The following installation materials are not included in the delivery set of the split system; you will need to purchase them yourself:

  • metal bracket for the suspension of the outdoor module (you can weld it yourself from steel equal angles 35 x 3 mm);
  • four-core copper cable, type VVG, with a cross-section of 1.5 or 2.5 mm², depending on the power of the cooler;
  • copper pipes of freon lines with a diameter of 6.35 mm and 9.52 mm of the required length;
  • rubber heat-insulating sleeve, type K-Flex, along the length of the line;
  • drainage corrugated pipe (metal-plastic Ø16 mm is also suitable);
  • wrapping tape PVA or PVC;
  • polyurethane foam - 1 cylinder.

Note. Depending on the conditions for laying inter-unit lines, a plastic cable channel or dry mortar may be needed to seal the furrow.

In addition to a home set of locksmith tools, the installation of an air conditioner requires the use of special tools and equipment:

  • hammer drill with a long drill or core drill for concrete;
  • vacuum pump;
  • manifold with pressure gauges and hoses;
  • a device for manual flaring of copper pipes and scissors that do not form metal shavings.

Often on the Internet there are instructions on how to install and start a split system without a vacuum pump, where air from the pipelines and the evaporative heat exchanger is pushed out by the freon pressure. We strongly advise against following such recommendations and strictly following the technology of evacuating the system before filling. Otherwise, the compressor may fail much earlier than expected.

Advice. There is a way to save money on buying or renting a rolling tool and speed up the assembly of freon lines. Ready-made installation kits are available for sale, including factory-flared tubes, insulation and a cable with a drain hose. The price depends on the length of the bundle (3, 5 or 7 m).

Air conditioner installation instructions

It is assumed that you have already purchased a split-system with the required cooling capacity, you know exactly the dimensions of the devices and have allocated space for them. Installation work is carried out in several stages:

  1. Marking the route for laying interblock communications, supplying electricity and sawing a furrow in the wall (if necessary).
  2. Fixing the indoor unit, routing pipes through the wall and connecting.
  3. Installation of an external module, connection of communications.
  4. Refrigerant charge and start-up.

Depending on the working conditions, the main harness is laid in two ways: openly in the PVC cable channel or hidden inside the wall. Use the first option in a residential apartment, the second - in the process of renovating the premises.

Reference. Ninety percent of manufacturers of split systems provide for the output of communications from the left end of the indoor unit. When suspended to the left of the window and hidden piping, the groove in the wall will have to be cut with a turn, as shown in the photo.

The first stage of work is carried out as follows:

An experienced master will tell you in his video how to make the right furrows and prepare for the installation of the air conditioner:

Indoor unit installation

Before starting work, remove the device from the box and read the accompanying technical documentation, where the manufacturer has its own requirements for the installation of the product and provides a diagram. Do-it-yourself installation of the air conditioner according to the step-by-step instructions:

Advice. In order not to peel off the winding tape of the bundle, it is better to insert a plastic sleeve into the technological hole. Alternatively, make it from a plastic bottle.

After hanging the indoor unit, straighten the cable harness and lay it inside the furrow. With the open method of laying, immediately install the cable - channel and hide the pipelines there. How to accurately connect the trunks, see the video:

Installing the outdoor unit

Mounting the unit on the balcony will not cause any particular difficulties. When installing under a window, secure yourself with insurance and invite an assistant to support you while screwing the bracket and the outdoor unit. The work is carried out in the following sequence:

Advice. In order not to crawl out of the window waist-deep, tightening the nuts under the bracket, buy special plastic clips or make them yourself. The bolt is inserted into the corner, a lock in the form of a washer is put on the thread and does not allow it to fall out. At the end, the module fastening nuts are screwed on with a long socket wrench, as is done in the video.

Start-up instructions

At this stage, it is important to remove air and water vapor from the freon circuit by evacuation. Then the lines are filled with refrigerant pumped into the outdoor unit at the factory. The following technology is used to refuel the new air conditioner:

After successful filling of the lines and the indoor module, turn on the split system for cooling, then test it in different operating modes. Make sure condensation is flowing from the drain and not along the wall under the indoor unit. Do not forget to close the ends of the service ports with standard plugs and put a cover.

Conclusion

The success of the event is highly dependent on the quality of the installation work. If you are negligent when installing the air conditioner, then at best you will lose freon, and with it the money saved on calling the masters will fly into the atmosphere. In the worst case, the compressor will "grab" steam or dirt that has got into the pipeline and will fail literally in a year. So take your time and pay close attention to all connections.
