Foundation blocks: GOST marking, sizes and prices, installation basics. Determine the weight of concrete blocks How much does fbs weigh 6

Foundation blocks are a rectangular product made of heavy, light or silicate type of concrete. The filling of the product affects their use during operation, as well as the weight of the structure.

Weight of FBS made of heavy concrete

This type of product is made of heavy concrete mix with a density of 1800 to 2500 kg / m³. At the end of the alphanumeric value of the marking, the letter "t" is present.

For the manufacture of blocks, concrete of a class not lower than 7.5 (M100) is used, which contributes to high indicators of strength, frost resistance, and water resistance. The dense structure of the mixture contributes to the high * weight of the FBS foundation blocks *, giving external weight and massiveness.

The heaviest block (FBS 24.6.6 t) manufactured according to the standards of GOST 13579-78 has a mass of 2 tons. The smallest standard block FBS 9.3.6 t weighs just over 300 kg.

Heavy concrete used in the manufacture of FBS allows them to be used in any area of construction, that is, for the construction of basement or underground walls, foundations, external or load-bearing walls.

Weight FBS made of lightweight concrete

At the end of the marking is the letter "l". Most often, expanded clay concrete with a density of at least 1800 kg / m³ is used as lightweight concrete. This material gives the foundation blocks such an additional quality as thermal insulation.

The requirements of GOST allow the production of expanded clay concrete blocks FBS from concrete of class B7.5 (M100) and higher. Usually, this type of product is used in the construction of underground walls, basements, external load-bearing walls.

Compared with the heavy type of concrete, expanded clay concrete FBS blocks have a lower strength, therefore, they are not always used as a foundation. The largest FBS foundation block weighs 1.5 tons, the smallest 260 kg.

Weight of FBS made of silicate concrete

The marking inscription ends with the letter "c". In the manufacture of FBS products, dense silicate concrete of at least B15 (M200) class is used, the density of which is at least 1800 kg / m³. The binder is based on lime.

The largest standard block weighs 1.63 tonnes and the smallest 300 kg. These products are not recommended for use in high humidity conditions, that is, as a foundation. Usually, the blocks are used for their intended purpose of the requirements of GOST, namely the arrangement of the walls of the basements.

In general, the mass of the product depends on its parameters and the indicator of concrete density. You can independently calculate the weight of the FBS. To do this, multiply the volume and density values. The greater the volume of the product and its density, the higher the mass of the structure. When calculating the builders use the average density, namely, for heavy concrete - 2400 kg / m³, for light - 1800 kg / m³, for silicate - 2000 kg / m³.

Figure 1 - External view of FBS blocks

Solid foundation blocks (FBS) are reinforced concrete products that are part of the foundation that distribute the load on the base.

The blocks provide the ability to perform quick installation and are less susceptible to the influence of external factors, compared to a monolithic foundation. Foundation and wall blocks have:

  • strength;
  • wear resistance;
  • long service life.

In order to learn in detail about the FBS blocks of size and weight, learn to decipher the marking and understand how the foundation blocks are laid, we recommend that you read the entire publication or go to the section that interests you.

FBS are made in the form of a parallelepiped. For manufacturing can be used:

  • heavy concrete;
  • silicate concrete of medium density.

Concrete blocks are not reinforced. For the manufacture of concrete blocks for the foundation, various technologies are used, the most common are:

  • natural drying (100% strength is achieved on day 28);
  • steaming (forced drying in order to obtain 100% strength in a short time. The block, which is in the steaming chamber for a day, acquires strength from 70% and more).

The most important ingredient in a block is quality concrete. In the end part of the FBS, grooves are provided, which are filled with mortar during installation work.

Figure 2 - Form for filling

The block manufacturing process is as follows:

  1. Prepare a concrete mixture using cement, aggregate and water (the mortar is mixed with blades).
  2. Load the solution into the block mold (manually or using).
  3. Seal the solution (used to seal the solution). The concrete compacting process takes a few minutes.
  4. Take out the finished blocks after a day (removal occurs earlier, in the case of using hardening accelerators).

To prevent the block from drying out, cover it with plastic wrap and water it occasionally. This is necessary for the block to gain strength.

Types and marking

Reinforced concrete products are manufactured in accordance with. They are:

  • FBS - solid;
  • FBP - void;
  • FBV - solid with a cutout (designed for passing communications under the ceiling and laying jumpers).

Figure 3 - The structure of the legend of the block markings

For example, consider a block marked FBS-12-З-6t. When marking, decimeters are used, therefore, the decoding of the marking sounds like this: FBS is a solid block, 1180 mm long, 300 mm wide, 600 mm high, made of heavy concrete.

The letter designations at the end of the mark are deciphered:

  • t - heavy concrete;
  • n - on porous aggregates (expanded clay concrete);
  • c - dense silicate.

In addition to the marking, the block contains the stamps of the manufacturer's plant (including the Quality Control Department). Pay attention to this when buying.

Step-by-step instructions for laying the foundation

To start laying concrete blocks for the foundation, dig a pit (trench). So that the installation does not cause inconvenience, it is important to find out the dimensions of the FBS blocks (table 1) and dig a trench wider. The bottom is cleared of rock, irregularities are smoothed out, the base is covered with sand. With sandy soil, it is not advisable to do this work. In order for the laying of the foundation from concrete blocks to be successful, it is required to prepare the base.

Preparation of the base

Figure 5 - Concrete block foundation

For a sand base, a timber bar is required, 50 - 100 mm in height. Make a sand embankment wider than the base of the foundation by 200 mm. After installing a wooden beam (be sure to check the flatness of the surface), it is necessary to fill the moistened sand inside the frame and compact it.

To increase the base area, the initial row is laid wider than the main part (you can use FL foundation slabs or fill the base with monolithic ones).

The gap between the laying of the slabs can be up to 700 mm. Further, lay the first row of FBS in such a way that the seams, located vertically, are above the pillows.

Stacking blocks

To start installing the foundation from FBS blocks, you need to understand how to lay the blocks. Installation work begins with marking. Stakes are installed according to the drawing, and a thread is pulled along them. To make it easier to lay the row, first place the blocks at the corners and intersections. Fill vertical joints with mortar or compact with earth as much as possible. The space between the blocks created during installation is poured with concrete and leveled until a monolithic insert is obtained between the blocks.

The mortar layer between the top and bottom row should be at least 15 mm. Vertical joints are tied with a layer of concrete 250 - 600 mm. To strengthen the dressing between the rows, use reinforcement. When laying, do not forget to make a hole for the sewer pipes.

Advice! When laying the foundation, use such types of concrete blocks for the foundation as FBS24.4.6-T. Their length will allow you to rationally distribute the load on the slab body, reduce the number of seams, and save time (choose the width and height at your discretion).

Sizes and prices

Depending on the size of FBS blocks, manufacturer and region, the price may vary.

For example, an FBS block with dimensions 880 x 300 x 580 FGC "Tores" in the city of Ufa costs 655 rubles per piece, and the firm "Stroykomplekt" in Moscow offers the same product for 843 rubles. per piece

FBS 12-6-6 RUB 1,742
FBS 24-5-3 RUB 2,253
FBS 24-5-5 RUB 2,612

Advice! When purchasing concrete blocks, in addition to the price, ask the seller how many days the block has been gaining strength.

Figure 6 - Appearance of a reinforced concrete product for a foundation 200 x 200 x 400

Foundation block 200 x 200 x 400, the price of which is 55 rubles. per piece, is not a type of FBS blocks. It is made of concrete grade M100 and has a frost resistance index of F50. But due to its small size, experienced builders do not recommend using it at the base of the foundation.

A plus of blocks for the foundation 200 x 200 x 400, the price of which is pleasing to the eye, is the possibility of laying the foundation in places inaccessible to vehicles. The weight of one block is within 30 - 35 kg, and for a one-story building (summer cottages, baths, sheds), concrete blocks for a foundation of this size are just right.

Output

FBS blocks are popular among construction professionals. There are many types of concrete blocks, the main indicator of the size of the FBS is the width (for the construction of the base, this indicator is important in the first place). Having learned how to decipher the FBS brand, you can determine in a matter of seconds what size the concrete block for the foundation is, what concrete it is made of and whether it matches the price.

Reinforced concrete products are widely used in modern construction. They are used for laying foundations and building walls. The most important advantage is that they are delivered to the construction site in pre-fabricated sections, and this saves time, since there is no need to wait for hardening.
Although the weight of the FBS blocks is significant, there is a special construction vehicle that transports materials to the construction site.

Reinforced concrete structures can be used in almost any climate, as they are endowed with unsurpassed technical characteristics.

The weight of the FBS foundation blocks and properties depend on the type of product.

The main types of concrete blocks and their weight

Foundation blocks are distinguished by shape and design. They are:

  • Solid;
  • Hollow;
  • Solid cutout.

Solid structures are characterized by a completely filled space. They are filled with reinforced fittings or filled. These blocks can withstand a significant load and their strength, unlike other products, is the highest. Consequently, the weight of the solid-type foundation block is greater, depends on the dimensions of the structure and ranges from 300 kg to 2000 kg.

Solid blocks with special grooves allow you to lay all kinds of communications. They have cutouts, therefore, the weight of FBS concrete blocks is much less than solid ones. This type of design reduces the time for connecting heating networks to the source of electricity, buildings to water supply or heat supply systems. The weight of each of these blocks reaches 500-700 kg.

Hollow-core blocks are made with cavities, which are filled with various materials during construction, waterproofing or thermal insulation is used.

They are much lighter than other structures and therefore are used in situations where, due to geological conditions, it is impossible to use solid sections of a large mass.

The weight of FBS blocks of hollow type varies from 20 kg to 200 kg.

The weight of the FBS foundation blocks is also influenced by the material from which they are made (heavy concrete, silicate concrete or expanded clay concrete).

Dependence of the weight of FBS blocks on the size

FBS blocks, the dimensions and weight of which are interrelated, are made of heavy type concrete with high density. Each product is marked, the following convention is adopted:

  • Abbreviation: FBS;
  • Dimensions: the first value is the length, the second indicator is the width, and the third number is the height;
  • Material: "T" - heavy concrete, "C" - silicate, etc.

The height of each block is the same. It is 58 cm. But the weight of the FBS blocks depends on the length and width of the products. A reinforced concrete block 88 cm long and 30 to 60 cm wide will weigh 350-700 kg. These products include FBS 9-3-6t, FBS 9-4-6t, FBS 9-5-6t, and FBS 9-6-6t.

Designs with a length of 118 cm and a width of 30 to 60 cm will weigh more. These include FBS marked 12-6-6, 12-5-6, 12-4-6, 12-3-6. The weight of the FBS blocks will be 450-1000 kilograms.

With dimensions of 238x30x60cm, 238x40x60cm, 238x50x60cm and 238x60x60cm, they weigh 950-2000 kilograms.

In the state standard regulating the production of reinforced concrete products, the FBS blocks are specified in size and weight. You can familiarize yourself with this document in detail, which indicates the technical requirements for the manufacture of blocks from silicate and heavy concrete with a density of at least 1800 kg / m3.

Why you need to know the mass of FBS blocks

State standard GOST 13579-78 normalizes not only the strength characteristics of reinforced concrete products, but also sets the overall dimensions and weight. Why do you need to know how much a foundation block weighs? This is necessary to control the quality of products. It is impossible to determine the density of concrete under construction conditions on site, and the weight is exactly the indicator that indicates this value.

Knowing how much the FBS unit weighs and how many such units will be required for the construction of a foundation or for another purpose of construction, you can choose the right equipment for transportation, loading and unloading of structures, and laying. Such blocks are supplied with 10 and 20 ton equipment.

And if you have information about the mass of FBS blocks, you can save a significant amount of money on the transportation of bulky sections.

It is also important to take into account downtime, unforeseen situations in the process of delivering cargo to the facility.

The weight of FBS blocks is their disadvantage, however, in the construction process it plays an important role, since it affects the quality and strength of the foundation, determines the reliability of the structure and ensures a long service life.

Prefabricated block foundations appeared many decades ago. And to this day, many buildings stand on strip foundations assembled from concrete blocks. But not all builders consider them reliable: after all, they are not monolithic, and therefore they are less resistant to soil movements.

Monolithic foundations have a very high degree of reliability. But their creation is a very long and difficult process, it is required to install the formwork, make a reinforcing belt for several hundred tying points, knead a large amount of mortar, pour it over. After waiting for several weeks for the solution to ripen, and only then continue construction work. Everything takes at least a month, and more often more - if everything is done by hand, without the involvement of outside workers.

To speed up the process and use ready-made foundation blocks. They are produced by many factories, they are of different types, geometries and dimensions. Some can only be worked with the help of construction equipment, with others - the smallest - you can work manually.

When assembling, they are installed in a dug pit on a prepared pillow. Rows and elements in a row are connected using cement mortar, sometimes using reinforcing belts to increase reliability. You can even assemble a small base for a bathhouse, a small house or a garage in one day. After that, it remains to carry out waterproofing and insulation work.

But due to the fact that the structure is not a monolith, it can only be installed on reliable, non-powdery soils. If there is even a minimal tendency to heaving, it is better not to put a prefabricated block foundation: when exposed to significant forces, it will begin to "walk" and the building may collapse. However, on dry and rocky soils, it is one of the most affordable and quickest foundations to be erected. Now you know where you can put prefabricated block foundations.

What are the foundation blocks

First of all, let's talk about the materials from which blocks for the foundation are made. It:

  • reinforced concrete;
  • expanded clay concrete;
  • high strength silicate concrete.

In the manufacture of reinforced concrete blocks, the mortar is most often used grades M-150, M-100, M-200. Depending on this, the characteristics change, the price rises. If a building is supposed to be massive, large and heavy, blocks of the highest quality are needed, with high strength; for low-rise construction and the foundation for a bath, blocks of M-100 solution are sufficient.

Reinforced concrete blocks are and are called heavy: their mass is large due to the high density of the solution. Their weight, depending on the dimensions, can be from 300 kg to 2 tons. To be able to distinguish the type of block, when marking put at the end of the letter "T".

In the manufacture of expanded clay concrete, expanded clay is used as a filler. This composition is lighter, the weight of the blocks is from 260 kg to 1.5 tons. When marking these products at the end add the letter "L" - lungs. They have better thermal insulation characteristics, the price is lower.

But unpleasant properties and features also appear: high hygroscopicity, as well as lower strength. To neutralize hygroscopicity, careful waterproofing and measures to drain water from the foundation will be required. But nothing can be done with strength: expanded clay concrete blocks can only be used on foundations for light buildings, for example, wooden baths or single garages.

In the manufacture of silicate concrete blocks, lime is used as the main binder. The solution is moderately heavy, because these blocks are called light and are designated at the end with the letter "C". The mass of products manufactured according to the standards (minimum density 1800 kg / m 3) can be from 300 kg (the smallest) to 1.63 tons (the largest).

According to GOST, silicate concrete blocks are not used in conditions of high humidity. This means that they will not work for the foundation.

Specifications

In addition to material, density, weight and price, there are many characteristics that you need to pay attention to. There are many more parameters by which you will have to choose them.

Types and sizes

Foundation blocks have different shapes and profiles, in addition, different overall dimensions. Products of different shapes have different purposes and markings:

After the letters that indicate the type of product, there is a set of numbers. They represent the dimensions of the blocks, indicated in decimeters. The first number is the length, the second is the width, and the last is the height. For example, FBS-24-6-6 is a rectangular block, 240 cm long, 60 cm high and 60 cm wide.The designation FL-6-12-3 stands for trapezoidal block (pillow), 60 cm long, 120 cm wide and a height of 30 cm.

The use of all these units involves the use of cranes or at least a winch. But there are very small blocks, measuring 20 * 20 * 40 cm. They are poured into standard forms at the same factories. When pouring, vibropressing machines work, which increase the density of the solution. A mixture of Portland cement, sand and a larger aggregate is used. The aggregate can be gravel, and then the block is concrete, or expanded clay, and then it is, accordingly, expanded clay.

Small concrete blocks are solid and hollow. Corpulent ones are used for laying foundations of light buildings on reliable soils, hollow ones - for erecting walls. You can work with them without equipment: the weight does not exceed 40 kg. But when constructing such a foundation, additional reinforcing belts must be created. In some cases, a metal mesh is placed in each horizontal seam. And to increase the strength, you can also make a reinforcing belt of greater height. It all depends on the conditions on the site and the structure of the building.

Frost resistance

This characteristic is important for most of the territories of our country. Any of the materials can withstand a certain number of freeze and thaw cycles. To increase this indicator, various additives are added to the solution. It is clear that the more cycles the concrete block carries without destruction, the longer the foundation will serve.

FBS block size table

Resistance to environments

If there are acidic or alkaline soils on the site, it is necessary to choose the type of concrete accordingly. If we talk about the Moscow region, then most of the soils are acidic, therefore here it is necessary to use blocks with crushed stone as a filler: it makes the products resistant to acid influences.

The acidity of the soil is determined using tests that can be purchased at a store that sells agricultural equipment. They cost a penny, the method of application is described on the package, as well as the scale by which the state of the soil is determined.

Cost and quality

It is possible to say exactly how much a particular foundation block costs only after calling several factories in your region. Prices vary considerably. Moreover, even manufacturers in the same region may have a substantial difference. It could be the concrete grade. Here you need to ask and compare. Do not be lazy to get into each production and inspect, evaluate the blocks presented there, according to the following parameters:

  • Geometry. All blocks must be the same, the edges must be even and clear. It is also desirable that the surfaces also have a minimum of flaws or have none at all.
  • The declared density can be compared at home (we are talking about small blocks 20 * 20 * 40 cm). They need to be weighed, size and weight compared. Calculate the density. For expanded clay concrete, it should not be lower than 1800 kg / m 3, for concrete - at least 2000 kg / m 3. Only these can be used for foundations.
  • Then do a crash test: throw blocks from the same height onto a hard surface. In no case should they crumble, chips should be minimal.

These simple manipulations allow you to determine the quality of the concrete blocks. Just don't forget which one belongs to which company (sign or number).

Block foundation device

There are several types of foundations that can be built using concrete blocks. These are tape, pile and columnar. The technologies are not much different, but there are still some features.

from blocks

There can be several options for arranging a strip foundation from blocks:

Is it possible to make such foundations from blocks of 20 * 20 * 40 cm. If this is a structure that is light in weight and the soils are suitable, then the answer is “yes”. In this case, a frame made of a log or a bar will feel especially good. Due to the elasticity of the wood, possible movements will be compensated. In addition, this material is lightweight, and the strength of small-sized blocks will be sufficient to support this weight.

If the soils have even the slightest hint of heaving, or the house will be heavy, only experts can say after examining the site and calculating whether it is possible to make a foundation from small-sized blocks.

Using blocks for pile and columnar foundations

For use reinforced concrete products of different sections: round, square, polygonal. They go deeper into solid layers of soil that can support the weight of the house. The upper part of the piles is united by a strip base on which the walls will rest. This type of foundation is good on complex loose or highly heaving soils.

Columnar foundations have a similar geometry. Only their depth is much shallower. There are shallow (above the freezing level) species and those with the laying below the freezing level. The shallower depth is compensated for by a larger base area: the pillars are usually wider. Here, as in the construction of a prefabricated strip foundation, options are possible:

Outcomes

The correct use of concrete blocks for foundation construction will greatly speed up the process. It is problematic to say whether it will be cheaper or more expensive. In some cases, it is cheaper, sometimes, due to the need for a long lease of a crane, it is more expensive. What is indisputable is that it is being built much faster, and this is sometimes no less important than cost.

The design calculation of the foundation considers the weight of the FBS blocks according to the parameters of the permissible load on the base area of the structure being erected. If the bearing capacity of the soil at the construction site turns out to be less than the total weight of the aboveground part + the mass of the blocks laid in its supporting part, then you will have to look for another version of the foundation, change the dimensions and weight of the elements, the support area, use combinations of design solutions (for example, pile grillage type of support). In the estimate, this is also transport and procurement costs, the work of machines and mechanisms.

How to understand the blocks

Foundation blocks are monolithic concrete parallelepipeds, which are used to mount vertical walls of a strip base or separate supports for light frame houses, log cabins.

According to their intended purpose, the elements are used for the installation of wall structures of the basement, laying in the buried foundations of the basements, and are divided into 3 types:

  • solid;
  • solid with a cutout (for the possibility of laying jumpers or passing communications);
  • hollow (FBP with open voids on the bottom side).

On the side ends of such a product, there are grooves for filling with a binder solution in order to ensure the connection of blocks in the same row with each other.

Above there are 2 mounting loops for laying with slings with hooks. The general mass of the monolith is reinforced to enhance the bearing capacity (it is required to be indicated in the project).

An example of what the FBS blocks look like is shown in this photo:

The materials for production are heavy, expanded clay and silicate dense grades of concrete.

In construction, for the installation of reliable foundations, a line of products of solid foundation blocks FBS made of heavy concrete is used. Expanded clay concrete FBS (porous fillers made of fired clay), blocks of dense silicate concrete, FBV, FBP are described in detail in GOST 13579-78 * as materials for basement walls.

Specifications

There is no special need to calculate the weight of a standard foundation block - products are manufactured strictly according to the technology in molds of the specified size from concrete of the M100 or M200 brand. The solution is compacted by compulsory vibrocompression, the resulting blanks are steamed in special chambers for a certain time, therefore, they have practically the same density and volume.

Based on such manufacturing conditions, the weight of the foundation blocks of a certain brand contains a reference table:

The brand of the product contains all the necessary information so that you can determine how much the required foundation block weighs, knowing the weight of 1 m³ of concrete from which it is made.

The abbreviation for the brand indicates all dimensions of the FBS in dm.

For example, FBS 24-4-6-t denotes products 240 cm long, 40 cm wide, 60 cm high. The letter designations at the end have the following meaning:

  • T - heavy concrete on crushed stone;
  • L - lightweight concrete;
  • P - expanded clay acts as a filler;
  • C - silicate solution.

Erection of a foundation from ready-made FBS with the correct design justification, based on the geological conditions of the site, reduces the time of work (in relation to the required period of building the fortress of the concrete monolith) and the cost of this part of the building.

Why you need to be able to at least roughly calculate a rational version of the foundation from FBS blocks for your own home, you can hear from the expert in this video:

Calculate yourself

In an independent calculation of the number of necessary blocks, knowledge of geometry is used: it is necessary to divide the total volume of the planned foundation by the volume of 1 of the selected block. But not everything is so simple - the soil sole has to withstand the construction.

Let's consider the sequence of calculations using the following example:

  1. The weight of the future building (external and internal walls, ceilings, roof, equipment and furniture) will be approximately no more than 12,000 kg.
  2. For the construction of columnar foundation supports, we choose FBS 2-2-4-t. You will need 17 support points with a total area of 6,800 cm² (2 dm x 2 dm x 17 pcs). With a height of 2 blocks, they will need 34 pieces with a total weight of 30 kg x 34 = 1,020 kg.
  3. The total weight of the building with the foundation is respectively 13,020 kg. We consider the load per 1 cm² of soil: 13 020/6 800 = 1.915 kg / cm².

Solution: if the bearing capacity of the soil on the construction site is 2 kg / cm² and higher, then the foundation is chosen correctly, otherwise the total supporting area of the foundation blocks (the number of points or the mark) will have to be changed upward.

The basic collection, which is guided for the correct laying of the foundation, is SP 22.13330.2011, as well as the updated version of SNiP 2.02.01-83.

In areas with soils that have weak characteristics, the area of distribution of the house's weight can be increased by creating a special pillow under the FBS. It can be arranged in several ways:

  1. From the sand of the middle fraction, a layer of the calculated thickness is poured expanding to the bottom at an angle of 35 ° (on each side). The depth of the backfill is determined as follows: the blocks have a width of 3 dm, the thickness of sand is 0.2 m, then the size of the load transfer along the bottom of the pillow for the foundation being built will be 0.63 m.
  2. Reinforced skinny concrete. The sole is made somewhat wider than the block and performs a double function: it distributes weight and prevents deformation of the overall structure from different settlement of elements.
  3. Prefabricated prefabricated concrete products.

To independently make a solid foundation for the subsequent installation of vertical walls from foundation blocks of lighter weight in the form of a precast tape will not require a significant increase in the consumption of materials, but will increase the stability and strength of the building foundation during the entire period of its operation.

A sample of the preparation of the sole for laying FBS can be seen in this photo.

During the installation process, the blocks are laid on ready-made concrete or self-prepared cement-sand mortar. Vertical joints are also filled with mortar. To lay the FBS, you need a truck crane and a team of 5 or more people (slinging and mortar work).

In the practical implementation of calculations, it should be borne in mind that the thickness of the seam between the rows of foundation blocks is up to 40 mm. When drawing up a project, the length and height of the blocks for convenience are taken 20 mm more than the actual one, and the joints between the elements are marked with a line.
