Floor hanger made of pipes. Floor hanger for clothes (47 photos): everything for your favorite things. DIY floor hanger

Hangers are an important part of a person's life; without it, organizing the space in the closet is problematic. It's easier to buy them in a store, but if you want to place clothes on beautiful, hand-made hangers, you should start making them.

The most interesting option is hangers made of thick wire, curved in the form of an inscription. They look original and successfully fulfill their main function.

Hanger with basket

The most practical option is a hanger with a wicker basket attached to the bottom of it. Hangers can be made of thick wire, and baskets can be used to fold scarves, gloves, keys, and other little things.

Board hanger

The easiest way to make a spacious hanger for outerwear, umbrellas and bags is to take a board. An ordinary board is taken, and many small hooks are nailed to it. The hanger is ready!

Coat hanger

If you have minimal carpentry skills, you can make a coastal hanger. It differs in that right above the hooks there is a kind of shelf on which you can put wicker baskets.

Fork hanger

One of the creative options for a floor hanger is a pitchfork, or rather, several pitchforks connected to each other. Take a pitchfork (3 pieces) and tie in the middle so that the lower part forms a tripod. The toothed top of the forks will act as hooks.

Hooks are attached to old chair backs. In this case, not the entire backrest is used, but only its upper part. To make the hanger look attractive, it is recommended to paint it with bright paint. For scarves, it is better to choose a back with vertical slats, and for a coat - with horizontal ones.

Re-equipment of a floor lamp

The easiest way to make a floor hanger is from an old floor lamp. The support is already there, and the hooks just need to be fixed on the lampshade. The base of the floor lamp can be decorated as you like.

Wooden floor hanger

It is cleaned of knots and bark, and then processed with sandpaper. 3 legs are nailed to the bottom of the tree for support. The top of the hanger is shaped like a crown. Branches act as hooks - they are cleaned and polished. The finished structure is coated with paint or varnish. Large beads can be used to decorate the hanger.

Floor hanger made of timber

The product can be made from a standard bar with a section of 10x10 millimeters. The length of the hanger is adjusted according to your height. As legs, 4 bars with a length equal to 35 centimeters are used. One end should be cut at a 45 degree angle. Small planks should be nailed between the legs and the support to make the structure stable. Hooks are nailed to the base in its upper part. The finished product is coated with paint or varnish.

Eco-style floor hanger

  • Take 4 sticks or 4 shovel cuttings. You will also need one long stick to hang your clothes on.
  • First, 4 sticks are tied so that you get 2 crosses.
  • To keep the structure strong, a plank is nailed to the bottom of each cross. All components are connected to screws.
  • It remains only to treat the surface with an antiseptic and cover it with paint or varnish.

Important! For the stability of the structure, the sides in the form of a cross are tied closer to the top.

You can make hangers yourself from anything. The shape and material for the production of hangers are selected based on your preferences. However, when using wooden products, do not forget that they need additional processing, otherwise the product will become a home for insects.

A floor hanger is an indispensable attribute of any hallway, whether it be an apartment or a country house. Its price depends on the originality of the performance and the quality of the materials. The easiest option is to purchase such a design at your nearest furniture store. But there is another way out of this situation, so as not to overpay - to make a floor hanger for clothes with your own hands.

A little theory from the physics course

To achieve this goal, you will need a little knowledge of physics, as well as improvised materials and tools. Let's start with the first one. The main requirements for a floor hanger are stability and the absence of sharp elements so as not to damage the floor, wall or clothing.

Sustainability is achieved in several ways. If the floor hanger rests on one base, usually in the form of a cross or a circle, then it is necessary to make sure that the center of gravity is as low as possible. This can be done using heavier materials - massive wooden blocks or metal.

If the space of the hallway of the room allows, then it is advisable to install the hanger on two, or even better - on three points of support. In the first case, wide bases will be required so that your attribute does not fall on its side, since it is problematic to evenly place clothes. Therefore, if possible, you need to choose a support at three points.

To prevent the floor hanger base from scratching the floor, you will need to use materials as a "sole" that will be softer than the floor covering.

Tools and materials

Required tools

So, here is a list of tools that you will need to make a floor hanger:

  • Phillips (curly) screwdriver;
  • self-tapping screws of different lengths and thicknesses;
  • sandpaper;
  • drill;
  • drills (set);
  • hacksaw;
  • axe.

A set of self-tapping screws

You will also have to stock up on the following materials:

  • a dried tree (cherry, sea buckthorn, etc.) or several of these, if the hanger is planned with several support points. You can buy finished processed blanks;
  • bars (more massive, at least 60 cm long, the optimal cut is 7x7 cm);
  • metal wire (for hooks) or ready-made decorative hooks;
  • joiner's glue;
  • a piece of rubber (or silicone) no more than 3 mm thick.

Instructions for making a floor hanger with a cross and hooks

First you need to free the tree trunk from the bark, as well as rough knots. Of course, it may seem that with bark the hanger will look much more natural, but over time it will crumble, and garbage will spread throughout all living quarters. In addition, small insects can be found in the bark. And the clothes will cling to irregularities.

You can get rid of the bark with an ax or a massive knife. Once this task is completed, you will need to walk several times over the remaining part with sandpaper - first coarse, then fine. After sanding, the surface will be smooth and the chance of snagging on clothing will be minimized.

The next task is to make the foundation. As in construction, only that structure will be stable and durable, which is given integrity. Therefore, the base and the stand of the hanger must be one piece.

The base and stand of the hanger must be one piece

You should not first make a cross, and then attach the body of the hanger to it from above - such a structure looses very quickly and can fall out of the base under the weight of the clothes.

Here's a rule to follow - the bottom edge of the tripod should be flush (that is, on the same plane) with the sole of the base.

Let's move on to measuring the diameter of the trunk. We need it in order to select a bar of the appropriate width. If the bars are wider, then you need to saw off lengthwise to the desired size with a hacksaw.

The standard height of the hanger is in the range of 180-200 cm.For them, you need to make a cross with overhangs from 25 to 35 cm.Therefore, we need 2 bars 60 cm long, which we will cut exactly in the middle to make 4 blanks of 30 cm each.

Now the difficulties begin. Even if you contrive and attach these 4 bars to a round trunk, the structure will be unstable, and after the first fall due to unevenly hung clothes, it will simply fall apart.

Therefore, we will proceed as follows: put the barrel on the floor and attach the resulting blanks to it from four sides. It will not work to connect them in this form, so we will make inserts in the form of triangular wooden elements on the bars exactly in that part of it where the body of the hanger is. Such "triangles" are attached to the bars with self-tapping screws, and also to the tree trunk - in exactly the same way.

To strengthen the structure, in those places where the "triangles" will be attached to the overhang bars and to the trunk, you must first drill holes with a drill with a diameter of 2-3 mm. smaller than the diameter of the fastener.

If you just screw the screws into the wood, then there is the likelihood of cracks that weaken the structure.

After this procedure has been completed, it is required to fill the resulting drilled spaces with glue, and only after that start screwing in the screws.

The resulting design of a floor hanger cannot be ideal in terms of stability - it often waddles from one cross bar to another. To correct this deficiency, you need to use pieces of rubber, which should be glued to the bottom.

In order for the rubber to adhere perfectly to the surface of the wood, it is necessary to walk over the surface of the wood with sandpaper and make several scratches in different directions.

The frame is ready, now you need to give the hanger functionality - add hooks for outerwear, which can be remote, that is, be at some distance from the trunk. There is one rule here: the center of gravity of the hanging clothes should not go beyond the crosspiece, otherwise the structure will be unstable and fall.

It doesn't matter which hooks are used - homemade or decorative, you cannot attach them directly to the trunk, since the floor hanger will quickly become unusable. You can proceed as follows: cut out a square from the available bars, the length of the sides of which will be slightly larger than the diameter of the trunk used as the body of the hanger. Before attaching the "square" to the top, you must first attach hooks to it.

Decorative ones are more suitable, since it is very difficult to achieve from a beautifully shaped wire. These hooks are usually attached to the tree with one or two self-tapping screws.

If you have the time and some skills in working with wood, then with the help of a chisel you can cut out recesses in the squares attached to the top of the floor hanger, in order to subsequently "drown" the base of the hook in them. This is a more aesthetically pleasing solution than simply fitting onto self-tapping screws.

After all the hooks are attached, you need to connect the square piece of wood to the top of the trunk. This can be done with one or two self-tapping screws according to the technology described above.

The final stage of the work is to add aesthetics to the resulting floor hanger. First of all, you need to close the lower part - the crosspiece with all fasteners. For this, it is allowed to use fabric, rattan, wooden or plastic slats. The hanger itself can be painted with a protective layer of paint or varnish - either natural color or any other, depending on the color scheme of the room decoration. The layer must be applied at least 2 times.

The floor hanger for men's suits has a slightly different design and is made of wooden blocks.

It can be done using the following algorithm:

  • measure and cut blanks according to a pre-made project;
  • carefully process and grind them;
  • make mounting holes in the right places;
  • assemble the hanger according to the diagram below;
  • complete finishing;
  • screw castors to the base or glue rubber gaskets.

DIY clothes hangers on wheels

Homemade wooden hanger. An original solution for decorating the interior of your home will be a do-it-yourself floor hanger on wheels. Every home craftsman can make one.

The design is very simple: width 1 m, height 1.3 m, see the plan in the photo:

  • For work, you need to buy 2 beams measuring 40 × 40 × 2000 cm. For the upper crossbar, a shovel handle is well suited. Parts are sawn according to plan:

  • The biggest challenge is making a stable bottom of the hanger. To make the crossbars exactly 45 degrees to the bottom, it is best to align the joint with a square. Then you need to screw on the slats. The design of the side part is ready:

  • In the same way, the rail should be fastened at the junction of the two sidewalls at the bottom. For strength, all joints can be coated with PVA glue:

  • The top bar is screwed in with long screws. Wheels are screwed to the bottom, which can be bought at a hardware store.
  • So the hanger on wheels is ready - the dream of some housewives. Its cost turned out to be about 150 rubles ($ 5):

DIY pipe hanger

The hanger is made of metal tubes with a diameter of 22–25 mm. You will also need wheels, screws and a drill.

  • For a vertical base, pipes 1.3–1.7 m long are required (2-3 pcs.). The horizontal ones are made shorter - 0.7–0.9 m (4–5 pieces) and are used as the lower rungs.
  • One of the horizontal pipes connects the two vertical pipes at the bottom with screws, the rest are fastened back to back. Thus, these bottom pipes form the bottom of the hanger.
  • The upper crossbar is screwed in the same way, fastening the entire structure with itself.
  • The entire structure can be put on castors, they are attached in the corners of the base.

Everyone knows the saying that "theater begins with a hanger." It should be said that not only in public institutions, the hanger plays an important role, but also in apartments and houses. After all, the absence of this important piece of furniture can cause clutter in the hallway. Today, many different hangers of various shapes and designs are on sale, but it will not be difficult to make it on your own from scrap materials. We will tell you how to do this further.

For the manufacture of clothes hangers, wood is usually used. But not every material is suitable for this. You should choose the most dried and durable wood. If the material is not properly dried, then after a while it may lose its shape. Of all types of wood for the hanger, it is recommended to give preference to pine. This material is good because it is easy to process and at the same time has a low weight. If you decide to use solid oak, then you should take into account that it is more difficult to process and heavier. The parts of the hanger made of wood are usually connected to each other with glue. Some important requirements are similarly imposed on it. By the way, in the presence of undried wood, glue can lose its adhesion due to the release of moisture from the material.

The choice of the shape of the hanger plays a very important role. It should be borne in mind that for a given piece of furniture, at least three supports are required, the length of which directly depends on the height of the product. Thus, it turns out that the higher the hanger, the more massive and more support it should have. Often this product is intended not only for outerwear, but also for trouser suits, in order to store all clothes in one place. For this purpose, the width of the hanger is usually made larger than usual. Thus, many different clothes can fit here.

When you have decided on the model of the hanger, then you should draw a diagram in which the exact dimensions of the future product will be indicated. Moreover, it is desirable to describe the dimensions of even the smallest details. This will come in handy during the manufacture of the product. When the diagram is ready, you can proceed with the installation of a wooden floor hanger for clothes.

Do-it-yourself floor hanger

For the manufacture of the product you need:

  • saw,
  • drill,
  • sandpaper,
  • chisel.

Necessary materials:

  • bars of the right size,
  • boards,
  • wood glue,
  • self-tapping screws,
  • stain for processing the product,

When all this is there, you can get to work. It is advisable to decide in advance on the shade of the future product. In general, light wood can be painted in almost any tone. To do this, it is enough to apply the stain until the surface of the hanger is the desired shade. When covering with wood stain or varnish, some kind of substrate should be placed under the product. Otherwise, drops may accidentally fall on the floor. The varnish should be used only after the stain has completely dried. In general, it is best to work with varnish because of the strong smell in a room that is well ventilated or, in general, in the open air. After opening with varnish, the product should be wiped with a rag dipped in a weak vinegar solution.

Let's take a closer look at the order of work:

  1. First you need to prepare the wood. In particular, bark and rough knots are removed from the tree trunk. In no case should you leave the bark, no matter how much you want to give the product a more natural look. After all, if you leave it, then it will gradually crumble, thereby creating an additional reason for cleaning the room. In addition, the bark is often a habitat for small insects.
  2. The bark can be removed with an ax or knife. After that, you should walk several times on the wood, first with coarse, and then with fine sandpaper. As a result, the surface should become smooth, at least so that clothes do not cling to knots.
  3. After that, the base of the product should be made. It is worth saying that it is advisable to make all the elements of the hanger (legs and tripod) in one piece. You should not start with the cross. Otherwise, if the hanger itself is then attached to it, then the structure may loosen over time. It is necessary to adhere to the following rule - the lower edge of the tripod must be performed on the same plane with the soles of the legs.
  4. After that, you can proceed to measuring the diameter of the trunk. The dimensions taken will be needed to select a bar of a suitable width. If the block is wider than necessary, then you can cut it lengthwise with a hacksaw to the required size.
  5. Usually the height of the hanger is about 1.7 m.For a product of this height, the cross should have overhangs of about 30-32 cm.Therefore, a pair of 65 cm long bars will be needed.They will need to be cut in half to make four pieces about 30-32 cm long.
  6. The hardest part is attaching the legs to the round trunk. If you just attach the bars, then the structure will turn out to be unstable, and after the first fall, it will most likely collapse altogether. It is more correct to put the tripod on the floor and attach the leg pieces to it. To connect them, you will need to make triangular wooden inserts. Then they are attached to the bars with self-tapping screws.
  7. To strengthen the product at the points of attachment of the triangular elements to the legs and the trunk, you need to drill a hole with a diameter of several millimeters smaller than the diameter of the fastener. In the future, you will need to fill it with glue. Only then can the screws be screwed in. Sometimes, to give stability to the structure, the holes, in addition to glue, are also filled with pieces of rubber.
  8. To give the finished hanger functionality, hooks for outerwear should be added to it. They can be done at some distance from the trunk. There is one important rule to follow here. To prevent the structure from falling, the center of gravity of the clothes hung on the hanger should not be outside the crosspiece.
  9. Hooks can be used both homemade and decorative. In any case, they cannot be attached directly to the tripod, because the floor hanger for clothes will quickly wear out and become unusable. You can do this: take the bars and cut out a square from them with a side slightly larger than the diameter of the trunk. Initially, the hooks are attached to this wooden square, and then to the product itself. Thus, they will be securely fixed, and at the same time they will not come into contact with the "body" of the product, which, thanks to such a device, will last longer. This is especially useful for wardrobe hangers, which are used quite often.

You can decide for yourself which hooks to use - decorative or homemade. However, if you make them yourself from wire, then they will not look very attractive. Therefore, it is still better to give preference to decorative hooks purchased in the store. They are usually attached to the tree with a pair of self-tapping screws. If you have the necessary skills, you can use a chisel to cut out square holes, where you should then "hide" the hooks. This will look better than simply screwing on the screws. When the hooks are in place, you need to connect the square wooden insert to the top of the product using several self-tapping screws.

As for the hanger itself, it can be painted or varnished. Choose a shade to your taste, but it is better to select it for the style of decoration of the room, where there will be a wooden floor hanger for the hallway. Apply a coat of paint or varnish at least twice.

The base for the wooden floor hanger must be sufficiently heavy and stable. As it, you can adapt the bottom from a floor lamp, the skeleton of a floor fan, or buy a stand for a Christmas tree.

Wooden suit hanger

The above hanger is not suitable for men's suits. Therefore, products of a slightly different design are made for them. Wood is similarly used as the main material. To assemble such a hanger, you must first measure and cut the blanks according to the specified dimensions. Then they are carefully processed and polished. After that, fastening holes are made in the right places.

Further, according to the scheme, the product itself is assembled and its finishing is performed. It remains to attach pieces of rubber or wheels to the base. A little more about assembling such a hanger: first, the vertical posts are screwed to the base using 4 large screws. Then a bar is inserted between these supports and screwed on with small screws. Next, a trouser holder is inserted into the holes of the vertical posts. To securely fix it, a mallet will come in handy. After that, the structure is screwed to the uprights with four screws. Then the hangers are screwed on. The suit hanger is ready to use.

How to make a wall hanger

The basis of such a hanger is a shield on which hooks are placed. It can be made both solid and lattice. The latter option requires less material and is also lighter. To assemble such a shield, take a pair of bars and attach them parallel to each other by means of dowels. After that, vertical strips about 8 cm wide are nailed to them, and hooks are already attached to the boards.

The dimensions of such a hanger can be different and mainly depend on the dimensions of the wall and the entire room. You can, if you wish, decorate it beautifully: varnish, paint or paste over with self-adhesive film. In any case, do not forget how to process the ends and edges so that no roughness remains. If you wish, you can make a shelf in the form of a board about 25 cm wide using metal corners in the upper part of the hanger, where the hats will be stored. If the hanger is made to the full height of the wall, then a shoe rack is usually equipped in the lower part. For reliability, it is advisable to install 5 × 5 bars from below that will support this shelf.

Wooden floor hangers: photo

A hanger is an essential element of any hallway. It is her that we see when entering any house. Today there is a huge variety of models of such furniture, but the most popular are floor racks for clothes.

Existing varieties

Depending on the design features and on the purpose, there are three types of these:

  • costume;
  • wardrobe;
  • hanger-rack for clothes floor (fits perfectly into the hallway).

Suit options are separate fixtures for storing a business wardrobe. Such models usually consist of a bar or crossbar for trousers, a hanger for jackets and a shirt, and a separate tier on which ties are hung. More modern floor standing clothes racks are equipped with additional shelves and movable or stationary mirrors.

Wardrobe models are impressive in size. The main purpose of this furniture is to store dresses and other clothes on a hanger. As a rule, such models are equipped with a high-positioned bar to accommodate wardrobe items. The standard dressing room has two support legs with a crossbar in the middle. Multifunctional models have additional movable rods and crossbars.

The options used for the hallways are made in the form of a high rack, in the upper part of which there are special hooks. The stability of this design is ensured by the presence of a small rounded base with several legs.

Materials from which such furniture is made

Modern floor standing clothes racks are made of wood or metal. In some models, manufacturers manage to successfully combine parts that have different origins and textures. Natural materials (animal horns or different types of wood), plastic, painted or chrome-plated metal are used for their decoration.

Required tools and materials

If desired, you can make such furniture yourself. To do this, you need to stock up on a hacksaw, drills, drill, sandpaper, chisel, varnish and stain in advance. From the materials we need:

  • bars;
  • joiner's glue;
  • boards;
  • self-tapping screws.

floor: we make furniture with our own hands

Boards and beams should be as dry as possible. Floor-standing clothes racks made of low-quality raw materials will quickly fail. Insufficiently dried wood will begin to release moisture, and the glue that holds the individual structural elements together will simply come off. The best material for making rack hangers is pine. This wood does not require complex processing and is relatively light in weight.

The higher the finished product is, the wider its legs should be. It is desirable that the product has at least three supports. Having decided on the model of the future hanger, it is necessary to draw its diagram, make preliminary calculations, measure the height and width of the structure. After completing the description of the sizes of all parts, you can get to work.

The process of making a floor hanger for men's suits consists of several stages:

  • cutting out blanks according to a pre-developed project;
  • careful processing and grinding of wooden elements;
  • drilling of mounting holes in pre-marked places;
  • assembly of the structure.
  • finishing;
  • screwing on roller wheels or gluing rubber gaskets.

The final stage of work should be giving the finished product an aesthetic appearance. To do this, it is treated with a stain and varnished. To prevent stains from accidentally staining the floor, this should be done on a special substrate. The varnish is applied only after the stain has completely dried. It is recommended to work with it outdoors or in a well-ventilated room.

Floor standing clothes racks for shops

Such hangers are considered universal trade equipment that allows you to compactly place and sort the offered goods. They are easy to disassemble, do not take up much space and move around the sales area without any problems. The use of floor structures greatly facilitates the process of acquainting potential buyers with the assortment presented in the store. Sales racks-hangers can be one-, two- and three-tier. Reinforced models are produced specifically to accommodate fur and leather products that can withstand the weight of such clothes.

Most manufacturers produce two types of such equipment - stationary and mobile. Stationary structures are installed directly on the retail space and do not move around the hall. Mobile stands are equipped with special wheels, so they can be easily moved from place to place. In almost all models, it is possible to adjust the height of the structure, which greatly facilitates the procedure for changing the assortment.
