The most useful indoor plants for growing at home. Indoor flowers that negatively affect human health How plants affect human health

To human health

Plants can do more

than just spice up the room and lift your spirits,

they can improve your health.

Since ancient times, people have decorated their home with flowers, clothes, presented as gifts. Landscaping of the home not only decorates the interior, but also positively affects the atmosphere in the room, health and mood of a person.

Science has long established the benefits of keeping plants indoors. In 1989, American researchers from NASA published a study on the ability of plants to neutralize toxins in the air.

Some of the benefits of having plants in your home:

Some useful indoor plants

Ficus and ivy these plants are simply record holders for air purification. They are able to absorb a lot of toxic substances, including ammonia, benzene, formaldehyde. Ficus, like a sponge, absorbs not only harmful substances, but also attracts dust. Ficus is unpretentious, this plant loves sunlight, moisture, but also tolerates partial shade. And it is better not to keep ivy on the windowsill, he loves partial shade and moderate watering.

Mother-in-law's tongue (sansevier) this plant absorbs odors very well. It is recommended to put it in the kitchen. Mother-in-law's tongue is very unpretentious in care, it grows safely, both on the window and in a dimly lit room. The care does not require much time and attention, but it will bring a living corner of nature to your home and will be useful for your health.

Bamboo palm (hamedorea) this plant humidifies the air, filters out substances released by plastic. Hamedorea is hardy, loves the sun, moderate watering. At the bottom of the pot, you can make drainage from sand or expanded clay.

Chlorophytum captures exhaust gases very well. Therefore, those who live on the ground floors simply need this plant. In addition, chlorophytum produces phytoncides that have a bactericidal effect. Taking care of the plant is also simple - you just need to make sure that the ground is always moist.

Scheffler remarkably cleans the air in the room where people smoke. The plant neutralizes nicotine and tar contained in tobacco smoke. The plant also increases humidity and ozonizes the air. Schefflera is an unpretentious plant. But be careful: all parts of the sheffler are mildly toxic and can cause contact dermatitis in some people.

Golden lotus (golden scindapsus) cleans the air from benzene, a harmful compound present in every third city apartment, especially with windows facing the highway. Golden lotus loves sunlight, but tolerates partial shade well, does not require frequent watering.

Dracaena a perennial plant that neutralizes such a harmful substance as formaldehyde, the poisonous vapors of which are released from varnish coatings, chipboard, PVC and other synthetic materials. Dracaena loves partial shade and moderate watering, but grows well on sunny windows.

Fern able to live well anywhere in the house, because it absorbs energy from the environment itself. For example, if a pot with it is on the TV, it absorbs electromagnetic radiation harmful to humans and it only becomes more magnificent and better. By this, it has a beneficial effect - it removes harmful radiation from household appliances.

Tradescantia is of great benefit to a person. She has a positive energy that feeds a person. Due to this, well-being increases.

Geranium this plant is like a personal psychoanalyst. Geranium scent is excellent stress reliever. In addition, it normalizes blood pressure. But only if you are not allergic to this fragrant flower. Geranium serves as a kind of determinant of health: if the smell of geranium is unpleasant, then you are healthy, and if you like it, then the overexcited nervous system must be treated. It would be best to put the plant in the bedroom. The scent of geraniums soothes and helps you fall asleep. You can also put the plant in the kitchen as a fighter against kitchen odors.

Cactus moderately energizes a person. Species with long needles are especially useful for human health. They kill harmful microorganisms, and also reduce air ionization, which is created by electromagnetic radiation. Therefore, it does not hurt to place such a plant near a computer monitor or TV screen. Cactus promotes good rest and recuperation.

Laurel has a positive effect on the cardiovascular system, relieves intestinal spasms, helps to cleanse the biliary tract. It is also known for secreting substances that are harmful to viruses and bacteria.

Orchid it is believed that it is able to cleanse and heal anyone, even the most sick organism. The orchid will put things in order in thoughts, calm down, if necessary, give hope for the best, teach you to enjoy life.

Orchids of different colors also differ in their properties. Red - provide strength and energy, white - make a good person even better, pink - give love to the right person, yellow - incline to creativity.

Kalanchoe possesses protective and medicinal properties. It reflects any negative energy and relieves depression, heals a runny nose and even sinusitis.

Aloe has a healing ability. The juice of this plant can be used as a laxative, anti-inflammatory, bactericidal agent, improves appetite and digestion.

To increase the humidity in the room will help violets, ferns, cyclamens ... These moisture-loving indoor plants return moisture to us through their leaves.

Monstera large climbing liana. Outwardly, this is a very beautiful plant, but it lives off the energy of all living things. It sucks vital energy from people. It is especially dangerous to keep this plant in the bedroom.

Cypress growing in an apartment is dangerous to humans. Our ancient ancestors considered it a tree of death.

Thuja has similar properties. In addition, it is poisonous, especially its berries. It should not be grown in areas where you rest, eat, and sleep.

Nowadays, many grow seedlings on the windows. This is also not very useful for a person, as it will negatively affect your well-being. It is better to allocate a room outside the room for this.

Remember the main thing - no matter what plants you have in your apartment, house, they should not be placed near a bed, because at night they absorb oxygen, emitting carbon dioxide and are freed from negative energy.

Their energy cycle is built on the daytime absorption of bad energy and night cleansing - the release of negative energy.

Especially in this respect it is harmful monstera.

At night, its large leaves emit huge amounts of carbon dioxide and a stream of negative energy.

The only thing doctors warn about: try to place the plants in such a way that they do not interfere with the penetration of daylight into the room. Therefore, do not cover all the window sills with flowerpots, keep an eye on the normal illumination of the home.

Flowers are a source of beauty and tenderness, so plant them in your homes and let caring for them bring you only pleasure and joy.

Remember that even unpretentious plants need your care. Give the plant love, and it will return to you with a vengeance.

Houseplants have a positive effect on health. Indoor plants have a certain energy that has a beneficial effect on the aura of the home. People feel this intuitively, therefore they strive to decorate their home with flowers, decorative greenery.

They have a calming effect on the human psyche, balance his moral background, give strength and confidence. In addition, absolutely all indoor plants are capable of affecting the microflora of the premises. They release useful compounds into the surrounding atmosphere and absorb harmful substances from it. Today we invite you to learn more about such plants - real friends of man.

brotherly side of comfort
In our age, people strive to live in comfortable conditions. But when making expensive repairs, we do not think that the building materials and finishing materials used nowadays evaporate substances harmful to health. The latter account for about 80% of unsafe connections. Not to mention the harmful effects of household appliances and household chemicals.

As a result, we are under a constant "cap" of carbon monoxide and nitrogenous compounds, formaldehyde and phenols, ammonia and acetone, volatile compounds of heavy metals - in total, experts have counted about a hundred types of such poisons. Moreover, in the atmosphere inside the premises, there are much more harmful substances than in the "outside" air - one and a half to four times. The so-called rectangular style inherent in modern interiors also makes its contribution in terms of the adverse effect on the psyche of people.
This is what it is, the other side of the sought-after comfort. Frankly, unpleasant. But not hopeless. Indoor plants will help you cope with the negative impact of the benefits of modern civilization and bring health benefits to you. Moreover, they can calm down, relieve fatigue and the effects of stress by their appearance alone. It has long been proven that green color has a unique property to pacify a person, set him up in a positive way, “drive out” all bad thoughts from his head.

What are the useful plants?
Representatives of indoor flora, useful for our health, will not only decorate the interior of a home or office, but will also allow you to breathe clean and fresh air. They will help you improve your health, get rid of blues and depression, and protect you from many ailments.

Plants that purify the air. They have a pronounced air-cleaning ability. Let's call them. These are crested chlorophytum, treelike crassula, asparagus, pinnate epipremnum, monstera, euphorbia.
Plants that fight pathogens.
... Myrtle, ruella, dieffenbachia, psidium, sanchezia destroy the causative agent of staphylococcal infection.
... Begonia, aglaonema, Andre and Scherzer's anthurium, Japanese euonymus defeat streptococcal microorganisms.
... Laurel, cherry laurel and poncirus are your allies in the fight against E. coli (laurel is good for spasms of the intestines and biliary tract).

... Begonia, myrtle, rosemary, dieffenbachia, anthurium, pelargonium, sansiviera, tradescantia, epipremnum, treelike crassula, aglaonema reduce the total number of microorganisms in the indoor air.
Plants that absorb harmful substances. These are chlorophytum, aloe, climbing philodendron. They are able to absorb phenols and formaldehyde evaporating from new furniture, destroy pathogenic microflora. Common ivy and dracaena utilize benzene, while chlorophytum and pinnate epipremnum purify the air from carbon monoxide.
Plants that ionize the air. Monstera, ferns, pelargonium, saintpaulia. Improves the quality of the air in the kitchen.

Chlorophytum - air purifier
Chlorophytum is often called the leader in terms of the degree of beneficial effect on the home. And deservedly so: it is an order of magnitude more effective than any technical device for air purification. This beautiful and at the same time unpretentious plant, with proper care, capable of producing a lot of "mustache" with "babies", easily "straightens" with the formaldehyde released by thermal insulation. It has been experimentally established that ten chlorophytums are sufficient to absorb this substance in an average-sized apartment.
In addition, it perfectly cleans the air from nitrogen and sulfur compounds and from phenols. Therefore, chlorophytum should be "settled" in dwellings with new furniture and, of course, in kitchens, where toxic products of gas combustion accumulate.

At the same time - as they say, "in return" - it releases biologically active substances and phytoncides into the surrounding atmosphere, capable of coping with certain types of pathogenic microflora.
Other equally unpretentious plants have similar cleansing properties - aloe, spathiphyllum, common ivy, sansivieria (the latter is better known under the popular names "mother-in-law's tongue" and "pike tail"). Aloe, in addition to its obvious air-purifying properties, helps to fight colds, relieves the condition in case of purulent inflammation. Its life-giving juice is also used in cosmetology.

The benefits of citrus plants
The beneficial properties of citrus plants are impressive. They have a beneficial effect on the mental tone of a person, increase efficiency. Moreover, not only physical, but also mental - due to the ability to enhance the amplitude of brain biocurrents. Indispensable helpers in the fight against stress, various fears.
Citrus fruits are grown at home mainly for fruits - lemons, tangerines, oranges and grapefruits. But many of us underestimate the essential oils they make, which are just as beneficial. For example, lemon tree essential oil can help lower blood pressure. On top of that, they, especially lemon, practically sterilize the surrounding air. By the way, eucalyptus, myrtle and Kalanchoe also have similar properties.

Geranium is your home doctor
Geranium or Pelargonium is often referred to as a home doctor. Especially for people with cancer. For everyone else, this plant is an excellent way to prevent malignant neoplasms. The importance of geranium for health is also due to the fact that it ionizes the air and neutralizes the harmful effects of free radicals on cells. The same properties, by the way, are inherent in ferns. In addition, both of these plants have pronounced antimicrobial properties.

Geranium is a natural stimulant of the adrenal glands, helping to maintain the hormonal balance established by nature, especially adrenaline. Due to its properties, premenstrual syndrome does not manifest itself so strongly and the onset of menopause is facilitated. Fights manifestations of stress, depression, fussiness. It has a positive effect on the moral background, improves mood, soothes; helps a person gain self-confidence.
For asthma, colds and cramps
For frequent colds, bronchial asthma and other problems of the respiratory system, medicinal rosemary will help. In the treatment of bronchitis, an additional factor of recovery is the effect of myrtle. And such plants as lavender, mint, sage are reliable helpers in the fight against bacteria of the genus Klebsiella, which can provoke the development of sinusitis, meningitis and pneumonia.
Various allergens are known to be one of the causes of asthma. For example, toxins in exhaust fumes. Therefore, it will be useful to have variegated dieffenbachia in the house, perfectly cleansing the air of toxins. It is better to keep this plant in a room, the windows of which overlook the highway or "look" at some industrial or economic facility (plant, factory, boiler room, etc.).

It was noticed that plants that emit phytoncides are especially active just in the winter-spring period, which usually accounts for the greatest surge in colds.

What is the reason for the usefulness?
People have resorted to the help of various indoor plants since ancient times. Healers of ancient Egypt and Rome knew how to make decoctions, balms and potions from them, and Chinese healers successfully used ginseng - one of the most unusual medicinal plants. In the arsenal of ancient Indian healers, there were more than 700 drugs made from plants.
What is the reason for the benefits of indoor plants? In the ability to release oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide, ionize the air. It is important for health that the concentration of light ions is high and that of heavy ions is low. Our green friends are able to maintain this balance at the desired level, which has a positive effect on metabolism, activates respiratory enzymes, normalizes the acid-base balance (pH) of the blood, maintains normal blood pressure, increases muscle tone, and helps to strengthen the body's defenses. Houseplants contain many useful compounds - saponins, coumaris, vitamins, essential oils, phytoncides, etc. A significant part of them began to be used in modern medicine.

It is reasonable to "settle" thuja, cypress or cacti in rooms with a TV and a computer. The latter perfectly neutralize harmful radiation from the screen and monitor. The ability of plants to purify the air is understandable: they are sensitive, like a barometer, reacting to changes in the environment. Since polluted air harms not only us, but also plants, they are actively "trying" to purify it. But where do the harmful compounds from the air go? Some of them are used by plants to support their life, while others are removed into the soil.

Indoor plants also have another useful property - to release phytoncides that destroy pathogenic microflora and neutralize toxins. In those rooms where geraniums, myrtle, rosemary, figs and citrus fruits live, the air is much less polluted by microorganisms. But the palm tree here belongs to an ordinary agave, which reduces the concentration of microbes by almost four times.

Opuntia (this is a cactus, the stems of which look like cakes) mercilessly fights against mold fungi. Thanks to her, the number of these "inhabitants" in the air of the apartment is reduced by 6-7 times. Lemon, laurel, coffee tree, ficus, ivy also have pronounced anti-fungal properties. The best place for these plants is in damp and darkened rooms.

Plants need good conditions

So, indoor plants purify the air, release oxygen and other compounds useful for humans. They are a source of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that have antibacterial and antimicrobial properties.

Therefore, the interest of flower growers in these plants is quite natural. However, one should not forget that for the proper fulfillment of their "duties" for health improvement, optimal conditions are necessary - the composition of the soil and its moisture content, temperature, lighting. Of course, taking into account the needs of each type. Among other things, careful care for them, regular washing off of dust and, oddly enough, love are important. Yes, yes, plants feel how you treat them, and give good mood and health only on a reciprocal basis.

Indoor plant lovers are more often guided by the external beauty of a particular flower when choosing plants for their home.

Since ancient times, man has lived in union with nature. And in the modern world, people try not to lose this connection by greening the streets and their homes.

When considering the issue of landscaping an apartment, class, we most often pay attention to the beauty of the plant and the conditions for caring for it. And can a plant, by its mere presence in the house, have a healing effect on a person? This question interested me. I believe that the topic "The influence of indoor plants on human health" is relevant, since a modern person spends most of his time indoors, therefore his health directly depends on the ecological environment in his house. Houseplants are needed to maintain favorable conditions.

Purpose of work: learn about the effect of indoor plants on human health.

Tasks:

  1. Study the literature on houseplants.
  2. Study the properties of indoor plants.
  3. Analyze the composition of indoor plants in the classroom and at home

Hypothesis: if you know the properties of indoor plants, then they can be properly distributed in the house and improve your health.

Object of study:houseplants.

Subject of study:the properties of indoor plants that affect human health.

Research methods:study of literature, conversations, excursions to the Botanical Garden.

I. Plants with Healing Effects

“There are flowers on the windowsill,

Like the echo of a sunny summer

Like a song of the departed spring

In the glow of the winter dawn ... "

Popular wisdom says: "He who grows flowers brings joy to himself and to people." Indoor plants are grown in order to decorate and improve the ecology of the room.

Experts studying the effect of indoor plants on human health have divided them into three groups - according to the predominant effect on our body.

To the first, they attributed plants that emit a large amount of phytoncides. They destroy bacteria, viruses, germs and fungi. This group includesivy, thuja, aucuba japonica, aloe tree, American agave, prickly pear, thick-leaved pereromia..

The second group includes plants with a high concentration of essential oils in leaves and shoots; these substances increase the resistance of the human body, restore and maintain its immunity, in addition, improve cardiac activity, have soothing, anti-inflammatory and other healing properties, strengthen our nervous system and increase resistance to stress. itcitrus plants, common myrtle, medicinal rosemary, spherical eucalyptus, fragrant geranium, noble laurel, figs ...

The third group: it was made up of the so-called vegetable filters. In our apartments, the air is simply teeming with harmful substances. And the more comfortable the furnishings and equipment of our homes become, the more harmful materials appear in it. Sources of harmful chemical compounds are synthetic materials and household chemicals. The most important air poisoner is formaldehyde, but it has a whole army of allies. Buying a new sofa, installing a double-glazed window, or a suspended ceiling, vinyl wallpaper, adhesives, varnishes, paints, carpet cleaners can worsen the ecology of the house. The joy of buying or renovating can be replaced by headaches, nausea, allergies, and increased fatigue. Sometimes indoor air is polluted 1.5 - 4 times more than outside air! We cannot do without powerful plant filters. American scientists, representatives of NASA, with their research, have identified the most effective fighters against harmful chemistry - these are:chlorophytum crested, ivy, three-striped sansevier (pike tail), Benjamin ficus, chamedorea, monstera, with patiphyllium, begonia, some species of the familybromeliads, diphenbachia spotted, and other plants with dense leathery leaves.

Conclusion: Nowadays, all over the world, atmospheric air is polluted with harmful substances that affect human health. Indoor air is also polluted. Plants will help improve the air condition and keep people healthy.

II. Plants that can be harmful

Not all flowers are useful.

During the flowering period of some indoor plants:hyacinths, vervains, levkoes, daffodils, and some other flowers emit such an abundance of fragrant essential oils that they can cause headaches and vomiting. Flowers and leaves primroses can cause hives on the skin of a person prone to allergic reactions. And sometimes even the smell of blooming causes allergies. primroses ... It is not recommended for such people to breed it at home. From thorns cactus painful irritations and even prolonged abscesses often appear on the skin. Therefore, when caring for cacti, it is better to wear leather gloves. The room where the fragrant flowers are located should be ventilated more often.

The leading position in the list of deadly indoor plants is occupied by the family kutrovykh. Among them are the most beloved and popular:adenium, plumeria and oleander.Just one eaten leaf oleander can lead to the death of an adult. All parts of this plant, especially the milky sap, stem and seeds, contain toxic substances, so you need to be careful not to get it in your eyes, on the mucous membrane of the mouth and on your hands, especially if there are scratches and abrasions on the skin. After caring for it, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. (Appendix 5)

Euphorbiaceae - frequent residents of our apartments - akalifa, codiaum (croton), poinsettiairritate the skin, their juice can even cause eczema. All representatives of Euphorbia are poisonous, and in terms of the variety of poisonous substances in the milk juice, they rank first among representatives of other plant families.

Aroid: aglaonema (alocasia), anthurium, dieffenbachia, zantedeschia (calla lilies), caladium, clivia, monstera, ivy, syngonium, spathiphyllum, philodendron, epipremnum.Overshadowing the vigilance of their owners with their beauty, they have become one of the most popular plants. The poisonous sap of these plants will cause swelling of the larynx and oral mucosa, and if it gets into the eyes, conjunctevitis and irreversible changes in the cornea.

Conclusion: if you have small children, as well as animals, do not keep in the houseoleanders, primroses, cacti, dieffenbachia, milkweed.

III. Plants in my house and in my class

Many indoor plants grow in my house, among them are:ivy, peperomia, sansevier, chamedorea, violets, spathiphylliumand my favorite one is chlorophytum. I brought a small shoot of chlorophytum from school and put it in the water, it quickly gave roots, and I planted it. He soon responded to my gentle care! He began to give arrows and bloom with delicate white flowers. He has new processes, and I myself can share them with my friends!

Most of the house flowers are in my room. Thanks to this, it is always fresh and easy to breathe in it, because the air is well humidified and cleaned by my "green friends".

Output

Home flowers not only create coziness in your home, being part of the interior, but with the help of home plants, you can reduce the concentration of harmful substances in the air of a city apartment or school building. This is especially true for residents of large cities who suffer from a lack of clean air.

In order for the air in the room to be fresh and clean, you need to choose the right home plants. Each plant is useful in its own way, and together they will bring invaluable benefits to your home. For a children's room, it is necessary to select plants especially carefully, because not all of them are useful. In this case, you need to take into account the features of each of them.

The benefits of indoor plants

Have you noticed that an apartment filled with flowers is usually cozy and beautiful. Peace and tranquility reign there. The multitude of flowering and decorative deciduous plants on the shelves and windowsills not only delight the eyes, but also warm and soothe the soul. Houseplants are silent helpers, loyal friends and healers of their owners. By absorbing gases and harmful substances from the surrounding air, indoor plants benefit apartment owners and have a positive effect on human health. In addition, they absorb the negative aura and release vibes of joy and happiness.

Where do harmful toxins and hazardous substances come from in our homes? Firstly, these are the products of combustion of gas stoves, on which we cook our food. Secondly, these are all kinds of building and finishing materials - plates on synthetic resins, linoleums, polymer wallpapers, plastic panels and others that emit hazardous substances into the air of the room. Even natural materials begin to deteriorate during the aging process and become hazardous to human health. Televisions, computers, microwave ovens, smartphones reduce the amount of negative air ions useful for the human body.

Useful indoor plants

It is indoor plants that cleanse the air from harmful impurities, improve its quality, as well as the quality of life and health of people and animals living in the house. This ability is due to the fact that all plants secrete phytoncides that are harmful to pathogenic bacteria.
