Ventilation valve in a plastic window. Supply valve for plastic windows: how to choose and install a ventilation valve. Optimal valve options

Recently, plastic windows are increasingly being used in various areas of construction of buildings and structures. Due to most of their advantages, these structures can be used both in residential construction and in industrial construction. They protect well from heat and cold, prevent the penetration of noise and various odors, as well as harmful insects. But there is also a huge drawback, which is to prevent air from entering the room.

Here it can be noted that this is not quite a lack of plastic. It can be noted that these particular structures are not provided for houses that were built in past centuries.

Ventilation and plastic: compatible or not?

Why hasn't a method for efficient ventilation of windows been invented in the modern world? Here you need to be more imbued with the question. Everything here was based on the presence of a hood in the kitchen and bathroom, as well as ventilation through the door and window cracks. This technique was invented a long time ago and has already met the expectations of the inventors.

And now you can look at this invention from the side of arranging new plastic windows. When the structure goes through the installation process, then all cracks and gaps are sealed, thereby creating humidity in the room. This disrupts natural air exchange due to the lack of air flow into the room. Indoors at home or it becomes stuffy, humid and discomfort begins. Here a process may begin, which will consist in the following: all the air will not leave the room, but will remain permanently there, and all the smells from neighboring apartments will be felt completely by you.

Here we can highlight other problems that arise during operation. Due to the constant closing of the windows, condensation can form inside the structure, which will interfere with the normal use of the materials. It is best to keep the windows on the micro ventilation function to prevent the glass from fogging up.

Plastic window ventilation mode

Of course, you can get rid of such problems with simple ventilation in several built-in modes. Also, when purchasing, you should consider the number of cameras. In the presence of a cold temperature regime, it is better to buy multi-chamber windows that will retain heat much better. Of course, you will have to overpay for quality, but the result will not keep you waiting.

Combination of ventilation and windows

Can ventilation and windows be combined? The answer is simple - you can. There are quite a few options for the device. There are quite a few combinations, some of which are:

  • with a window;
  • self-ventilated;
  • with a comb;
  • with ventilation valve;

And from the side of the street

Windows with a window

A fairly common method of ventilation, which has been used for quite a long time. It provides for the intake of air under the ceiling in the room, which then mixes with the room air, thereby forming a cool and clean product. This eliminates the appearance of drafts or condensation in the window.

The disadvantages of this design are the rather high cost and complexity of the design, which increases the weight of the materials. It is worth noting here that as the design becomes more complex, a large amount of light flux is lost, which makes the room rather dark. This is not always good.

Self-ventilated plastic windows

Self-ventilated windows are the best option for devices in all buildings. They can be used both in civil and industrial construction. This option consists in the fact that the structures use profiles with holes at the top and bottom of the frame. The holes are located in the upper inner and lower outer parts. Air masses, passing through the lower part, are heated, and already heated air enters the room.

The principle works very well, but it has some limitations. Such structures cannot be installed on upper floors due to insufficient supply of air. From such a disadvantage in many systems, a ventilation valve for windows has recently become widespread.

Combed windows

It is these windows that are most widely used today. With such a device, a regulator is built into the windows, which allows you to either open the window completely, or open it in several modes.

This mechanism is very inexpensive, but it works quite well. The comb makes it possible to regulate all incoming masses and leave the window in the intermediate position mode.

Ventilation valve in the windows

For normal operation, such a device must combine several functions for full operation. Subject to such laws, the entire room will be constantly ventilated, which will ensure normal temperature conditions. It should be noted here that such a valve has several varieties, which are called classes. Classes are very different from each other and have different mounting methods.

To put the valve in the window frame, you can either replace the entire glass unit, or replace the part that is responsible for ventilation. There are also disadvantages here, which consist in an increase in the cost and weight of the structure. Such operations are carried out in less than an hour, but they guarantee a fairly good result.

Next, you need to decide on the control mode. Here, as in any design, both automatic and manual modes can be used. These options have their own differences, which are as follows. With the help of the manual, you can regulate the ventilation, thereby placing it where you need it. Here partial ventilation is applicable, which allows these processes to be carried out only where it is required. As for the automatic control, everything is very simple. The mechanism built into the windows itself regulates the required temperature and, if necessary, adds air masses of the required temperature. However, there is a third option, which combines all the advantages and removed many of the disadvantages of the two previous modes. This is a mixed mode. It allows you to customize any mode when it's convenient.

Winter operation

Here their own problems may appear, which consist in the appearance of condensation. But such a flaw cannot be predicted. In all cases, everything will be different. Such a consequence will depend on the temperature of the outside air, the material of the walls, and the intimacy of the windows themselves.

Climatic valve

When operating in winter, it should be noted that, under any circumstances, the premises should be ventilated at least 2 times a week. This will ensure a fairly durable use of structures and protect them from condensation.

Installation

Considering this issue, you need to remember that it is better to hire good specialists who will qualitatively install this design.

If installed incorrectly, all sorts of difficulties subsequently arise, which sometimes lead to decay with a large amount of moisture. This can lead to rather difficult results and the money will be wasted.

Installation of a window ventilator

Very important . How to arrange it correctly - read in a separate article.

Supply ventilation on plastic windows allows you to constantly maintain a favorable microclimate in the room. We will discuss this aspect in detail below.

Plastic windows provide almost complete sealing of the room. In the harsh Russian climate, this is a huge plus. In the warm season, the lack of oxygen is solved simply by airing, but in winter such a measure is impossible due to severe frosts. Lack of fresh air is fraught with many problems:

  • Misting windows.
  • The appearance of fungus and mold on the slopes.
  • Musty air. This creates discomfort in the room.
  • Young children may develop allergic reactions.

Additional ventilation in a room with plastic windows is provided by installing special valves. They have various design features, but their main purpose is to let outside air into the room without temperature losses. They cope with this function, albeit with varying degrees of efficiency.

Tip: In most windows, you can adjust the closing density. In the warm season, expose the doors to summer mode - in this case, the frames will not close too tightly, which will allow oxygen to penetrate into the room.

When is the organization of additional air circulation necessary:

  • If small children live in the house. As mentioned, lack of oxygen can be detrimental to their health.
  • Indoors with many plants. Without oxygen, they will simply die out.
  • When the house is warmed up with convectors or oil radiators. Such heaters dry the air monstrously.
  • In production. In workshops (if they are associated with toxic substances), it is necessary to organize the maximum flow of fresh air.

All known varieties

A ventilation valve for plastic windows is only a seemingly simple device. It is subdivided into several varieties, which have significant design differences. You should know them in order to find the best option.

This is the simplest and most importantly the cheapest option. With their help, street air enters the room through small cutouts. The main advantages of this technology are as follows:

  • Low cost.
  • There is no need to dismantle installed PVC windows.
  • It guarantees the preservation of the soundproof properties of the glass unit.
  • High speed and ease of installation.
  • The possibility of automation.

Among all the advantages, there is one, but a very important disadvantage - weak bandwidth. Because of this, folded ventilation with closed windows is ineffective.

Slotted

Fresh air enters the room through special ducts. Usually they have a size in the range of 160-400 by 10-16 mm. As a rule, such a valve is equipped with two blocks - an inlet and a regulating one. On more advanced models, it is one (universal). Technology advantages:

  • Absolute protection from external factors (precipitation, insects). This is ensured by the presence of a regulating unit.
  • High (in our case, medium) transmitting capacity.
  • Can be used without dismantling the glass unit.

There is only one serious disadvantage in this case - a relatively complex installation. However, some models are devoid of even such a drawback (more on that later). Therefore, this category is the most popular now.

Overhead

In residential premises, such structures are practically not used. This is due to their serious disadvantages:

  • The thermal insulation properties of windows are seriously reduced.
  • Soundproofing is practically zero.
  • It is possible to install such a supply ventilation valve only before the installation of a double-glazed window. In particular, it is necessary to adjust the size of the opening.

However, this technology has found wide application in the industrial field. The main reason for this is the highest throughput.

Market leaders - Aereco and Air-box

The domestic valve market was 90% occupied by two manufacturers Aereco (France) and Air-box (Russia). You should be aware of the features of their products:

High quality and practical option

Valves from Aereko are a cover that has an attractive appearance (there are color variations) that fits into any interior. The most optimal installation option is during the manufacture of PVC windows. However, if the double-glazed windows are already in place, then the installation can also be done. To do this, you need to make a little drilling of the frames.

The device consists of 8 (16) moisture-sensitive plates. Depending on the humidity level, they can open or close the damper. Moreover, they do not need power supply for their work. The principle of operation is based on the physical law of thermal expansion.

You can even mount them into the wall. This method is used mainly in wooden buildings, because it is extremely difficult to milling concrete structures. From the point of view of its qualities, this manufacturer looks like the best analogue on the market. However, it has an important drawback - a high price (from 2,500 thousand rubles).

Cheaper analog

The Russian manufacturer air-box makes its products much simpler, which, at the same time, almost does not lag behind in efficiency from their more expensive "counterparts". Such models allow outside air to penetrate through the space between the frame and the sash. It leaks out thanks to the replacement of the standard seal. To control the air flow, you need to move the regulator knob.

Such models are much simpler and require manual control. At the same time, they carry two very important advantages - low cost (on average from 400 rubles) and a simpler installation technique. Air-boxes are installed in two ways - by means of milling the frame (as in the previous manufacturer) and by replacing the seal (which will be discussed below).

Possible installation options

Forced ventilation in a window can be implemented in three ways, which vary greatly in complexity.

The most difficult method is to adjust the size of the opening.

The most time-consuming and costly method is associated with the installation of the above-mentioned overhead elements. They are mounted as follows:

  • The existing glass unit is removed.
  • The opening widens by the size of the lining.
  • The double-glazed window is installed back.
  • An overlay is installed in the resulting gap.
  • The cracks are covered with cement mortar (or something similar).

The technique looks deadly laborious and unreasonable. Therefore, no one does work in this order, because it is fraught with cosmic expenditures of effort, time and money. It is necessary to take care of additional ventilation in advance, that is, before installing a double-glazed window.

The most thoughtful people, when ordering PVC windows, immediately plan to install an additional air flow. For this, the opening is made slightly wider than the double-glazed unit requires. This technique is the most effective, and most importantly rational.

Assembly instructions for Aereco models

However, what to do if the glass unit is already installed? Aereco models are installed using a simpler method. It consists in the following:

  • A place for installing the channel is selected. If possible, this should be the least visible area.

Please note: additional window fittings should not interfere with installation. Consider this fact when choosing a location.

  • Then the markup is done.
  • We fasten the bar to the chosen place using special self-tapping screws for PVC structures.
  • We mark the location of the technological grooves on the vestibule.
  • We remove the bar. Using a drill and an electric jigsaw, we saw holes in the sash and the frame itself.
  • Set the bar again.
  • We fix the valve with special latches.

This procedure is relatively time consuming. In addition, it requires special tools that everyone has. Another factor is that a person without proper experience will not be able to do the job accurately. Conclusion - it is better to entrust the installation of such a device to a specialist.

Air-box - installation hassle-free

There is another technique that anyone can handle. The air-box manufacturer has created a model that can be assembled without the use of tools. The kit includes a special seal and PVC screws. The work is done in the following sequence:

  • We select the proposed installation location.
  • We cut off the standard seal (which is located on the sash) in this place.
  • We insert a new one (from the kit).
  • Remove the protective film from the valve.
  • We fix it in the place where the new seal is installed using special latches.
  • We close the flaps and make a mark on the frame along the length of the valve.
  • We cut off the existing seal in this place and install a new one in its place (the same one from the kit).

If something turned out to be incomprehensible to you, you can watch the video from the manufacturer itself. It will allow you to clearly understand everything.

A distinctive feature of metal-plastic windows is the ability to keep warm in a residential building. They effectively prevent the penetration of sound, cold, moisture. At the same time, these solutions do not allow providing the internal space with sufficient fresh air. The only correct solution is to install a supply valve on plastic windows. What kind of products are these, and what is their purpose?

Do you need air inlets at all?

Plastic windows have a lot of obvious advantages. They were appreciated not only by the owners of city apartments, but also by the owners of country cottages. But with all its "pluses", visually beautiful solutions de facto worsen the microclimate of the dwelling. Installation of supply valves on PVC windows is the most affordable and simple way to normalize the temperature and humidity conditions, leveling the risk of mold and mildew formation.

So what is this device and how does it work? The supply valve for plastic windows is a small solution that is usually installed in the upper sash of the frame. It is located in a strictly horizontal position, due to which the exhaust function is realized. A small valve not only eliminates the likelihood of condensation in the frame, but also helps maintain a comfortable microclimate.

It is advisable to use supply valves on windows for a number of reasons:

  • in the process of its functioning, any heat losses are excluded, the level of sound insulation remains at the original level;
  • unlike traditional ventilation, drafts do not occur;
  • the window opening does not change in any way in terms of light penetration;
  • the product can be easily installed, no problems arise during operation;
  • the operation of the device can be adjusted at your own discretion.

Why do you need supply valves

Design features and nuances of functioning

Competent installation of the supply valve on a plastic window is possible only if there is an exhaustive understanding of the mechanism of operation of this device. In the process of installation work, a section with a rubber seal is removed from the structure of the window opening, both at the sash and at the frame. It is replaced with an additional layer of sealant and an air inlet, to which the role of passive ventilation is delegated.

The solutions installed in this way allow warm air to be removed outside and fresh oxygen is taken into the room. This is achieved due to the pressure difference. The system works provided that the temperature outside the window is not lower than + 5 ° С. In the sultry heat, ventilation products are activated thanks to forced draft.

A valve for a plastic window includes a number of elements:

  • outer structure of the air intake(mounted only on the outside of the frame). Above the product itself, there must certainly be a visor that prevents moisture and atmospheric residues from penetrating inside;
  • compact telescopic duct- a small element, combined with the window body and fixed with a special sleeve;
  • inner fragment located inside the room. From a structural point of view, it is one of the most complex elements of the system, which includes: a control mechanism (for adjusting the air flow), a filter grate and an outlet nozzle.

Construction device

There are a number of conditions necessary for effective work in plastic windows:

  • functioning of the main house ventilation duct;
  • the presence of natural air exchange (small cracks in the floor, in the interior doors);
  • tightness of the front door;
  • outside the window the temperature regime is not lower than + 5 ° С.

Be sure to watch the video on the principle of the supply air device.

Transfer of "Miracle of Technology" to NTV, about Aereco supply valves

A wide range of exhaust solutions for PVC windows is on sale. As for the differences between specific models, it is customary to consider them according to a number of criteria.

Varieties of supply devices

Depending on the prevailing design material:

  • metal;
  • wooden;
  • plastic.

Fresh air intake method inside the room:

  • Overhead solutions... Ventilation valve for plastic windows with high efficiency. Its key feature is the need to "fit" the frame and glass unit design to the exhaust device. Such products cannot be built into a finished window. The main area of application is warehouse facilities, industrial complexes.
  • Supply-slotted structures... Air is drawn in through a 16 cm slot. Inside the room there is a special regulating block, and outside there is an inlet block that prevents the penetration of insects, small particles and precipitation. There is no need to dismantle the window for installation. The product is characterized by a sufficiently high performance.
  • Folded products... One of the most affordable window varieties. The supply of fresh oxygen is carried out through small cutouts located in the vestibule. The solutions are distinguished by good sound insulation, low bandwidth and ease of installation.

By type of management:

  • manual;
  • automatic.

note! Original designs in the form of a handle valve are in great demand. This product replaces the traditional window handle without compromising the appearance of the opening itself.

Step-by-step instructions for installing a ventilation valve

Let us dwell in more detail on the nuances of installing a valve with our own hands. This event does not require any specialized skills, and in time the whole process lasts up to 40-60 minutes.

To install the supply valve on the windows with your own hands, you should prepare:

  • sample;
  • medium-length screwdriver;
  • complete valve;
  • stationery knife.

All of the listed elements necessary for the installation of small products are included in the standard delivery set. The length of the valve does not exceed 35 cm. In addition to it, you will need 2 seals, each of which is at least 16 cm long, as well as an additional 35 cm segment. Special fasteners on self-tapping screws are used to fix the structure.

Stage 1 . Localization of the installation site... It is customary to place window supply valves in the upper part of the sash. Experts recommend marking a place in the middle of the structure, and then attach a template to it and circle it around.

Stage 2 . Removing the seal... In the marked area, the standard seal must be removed. It is not fixed too tightly and, if you make small cuts with a clerical knife, then the rubber product can be completely removed.

Stage 3 . Installation of fixing dowels... Insert 3 fixing plugs into the free groove. Their main purpose is to mount the valve body on the base of the leaf. One dowel is displaced exactly in the middle, and the remaining 2 are placed along the edges.

Stage 4 . Installing the ventilation device on the window... To make it easier to work, we recommend applying double-sided assembly tape to the sash surface beforehand. The valve is located in the most preferred position.

Stage 5 . Fixing the valve on the sash... The ventilation product must be attached to the profile structure using self-tapping screws (do not forget about the dowels). This will allow the product to be securely secured enough.

Stage 7 . Removing the old frame seal... In order for the ventilation device to function properly, it must provide a supply of clean air. To this end, experts strongly recommend abandoning the standard seal, replacing it with the one that comes with the valve. Opposite the fixed valve, a segment is marked, the total length of which must be at least 35 cm. Dismantle the old seal and then replace it with a new one.

The seal in the frame is as shown in the image below. If we take a narrower seal, then a small gap will form between the sash and the base of the frame, through which fresh oxygen is taken in. The window will remain functional.

This completes the installation process. At your own discretion, you can adjust the oxygen flow using a small engine. In the right position, the curtain will be fully open, therefore, the air flow will be maximum.

The device considered in our article is a useful and necessary solution for every home, which allows you to significantly improve the microclimate of your home. Installation work, if desired, can be done with your own hands, without the help of specialists. Installation features depend on the configuration, design and specific valve model.

Systems on the market can be divided into three categories.

Slotted

The device is mounted in the upper part of the opening sash or vertical impost. For installation, you have to dismantle part of the fittings and mill holes in the metal-plastic profile. If you are not confident in your abilities, it is better to entrust the work to professionals.

Structurally, the system consists of two blocks. One is mounted from the side of the street. It serves both as an air intake and a visor that protects the channel from precipitation. The second block is placed on the inside. It contains a mechanism that regulates the intensity of ventilation.

The main advantage of this design is its high throughput. The length of the ventilation duct varies within 170-400 mm, and the width is 12-16 mm. This is enough to organize the microclimate in large rooms.

Overhead

They are integrated into the window profile at the stage of frame manufacturing. It will not be possible to establish them after the fact. In everyday life, such systems are not used due to the excessively large bandwidth. They are usually used for ventilation of large offices and sales areas.

Products are indispensable in pavilions with solid glazing, when it is not possible to make ventilation ducts in load-bearing structures. Unlike wall models, their disadvantage is low sound and thermal insulation.

Folded

They became popular due to their low cost and ease of installation. You can install them yourself in just half an hour.

The product is placed on the top of the sash in a gap. Fresh air enters the room through a small gap in the seal. The design is very simple, but it provides for the possibility of adjusting the air flow.

It is useless to install such devices in a hall or large living room. They will not provide adequate air exchange. They are best used in a kitchen or small bedroom.

Methods for adjusting valves on PVC windows

Manual

A knob or slider is provided on the body of such devices. Its movement changes the position of the damper, and hence the intensity of the air flow. Such designs are reliable and durable. There is practically nothing to break in them. However, there are a number of disadvantages:

  • Limited access. The controls are located at the top of the sash. Every time you need to change the position of the flap, you have to take a chair. In some models, this problem is solved by installing a lace, like in blinds.
  • Static. It is very difficult to maintain a constant microclimate with their help. To achieve a comfortable environment, you have to change the position of the shutter depending on the weather. It is not always possible to find the correct mode.

Automatic

Such products have a number of advantages:

  • Maintain a constant microclimate. The device automatically creates preset comfortable temperature and humidity. The air flow rate is adjusted based on the readings of the sensors.
  • Autonomous. The product works without electronic components. It does not need mains power or batteries. The flap is moved by nylon belts. Depending on the pressure, they change their length and, accordingly, the position of the damper.
  • Profitability. The supply of fresh air increases with increasing humidity, for example if there are many people in the house or if laundry is drying. In a relaxed environment, the device does not overcool the house, which reduces heating costs.

Pros and cons of supply ventilation valves

Advantages:

  • Household appliances are simple and reliable. You can install them yourself.
  • The vent cover removes excess moisture from the most favorable place for its formation - the border of the temperature difference. If there was perspiration or condensation on the double-glazed windows, the number of drops decreases or they disappear altogether.
  • There are no drafts in the room, as with micro-ventilation or full opening of the window. This means that the risk of colds is reduced.
  • Air exchange between the apartment and the street takes place continuously. You breathe fresh air all day long, not just when airing out.

Disadvantages:

  • In severe frosts, budget models can freeze over.
  • The vast majority of products do not have filter elements. Because of this, dust and foreign odors enter the house.
  • Only expensive models can cope with full-fledged microclimate control. In the budget, you have to independently monitor the temperature and humidity in the house - constantly changing the position of the damper depending on weather conditions.

How to choose a supply valve for plastic windows

Let's list the most important criteria that you need to pay attention to when choosing:

  • Noisiness. When air masses pass through a restricted opening at high speed, noise is generated. A comfortable sound level is in the range of 30-40 decibels. Models in which a narrow long gap forms on the minimum vestibule can whistle in strong winds. If in the working position the valve does not fit snugly against, it may rattle.
  • Performance. Directly depends on the nominal diameter of the ventilation holes. The larger the area of the channels, the more fresh air enters the house through them. When choosing a specific device, you need to build on the area of the room and the number of residents. The productivity of different devices varies in the range from 6 to 150 m3 / h. It is better to choose a device not exactly according to its parameters, but with a margin of 1.5-2 times.
  • Air preheating. In classic models, cold air masses are warmed up by a warm convection flow from a radiator. In northern regions, this may not be enough. Then you need to select electrically heated equipment.
  • Filter type. In structures that are mounted on the sash, they are absent. Models integrated into the frame can be equipped with filter elements. When using them, dust from the street does not get into the room. But the filter must be constantly cleaned, otherwise the performance of the device will greatly decrease.
  • Installation method. There are universal models that can be integrated into the window profile of any manufacturer. Some of them you can install yourself. But some of the structures must be mounted at the stage of manufacturing the frame.
  • Price. Each of the options listed above affects the cost. If you are too demanding on the microclimate, it is worth comparing window devices with other options for climatic products.

The installation of sealed window structures entails a deterioration in the microclimate of the room: humidity rises, there is a lack of oxygen and air staleness. Problems can be easily solved by placing a supply valve on plastic windows - the device normalizes natural ventilation and stabilizes air exchange.

We will tell you how to choose the right ventilator to ensure the supply of fresh air to rooms with plastic window frames. We have detailed descriptions of popular device models tested in practice. For independent home craftsmen, we provide detailed installation instructions.

The basis of a normal indoor microclimate is the presence of an effective one.

The air must constantly circulate - polluted with excess carbon dioxide is removed through the hoods, and clean air comes from outside.

The old imperfect designs did the job efficiently, providing sufficient airflow even in winter. Lack of wooden frames - poor noise and heat insulation

An attempt to restore air circulation by opening a window in ventilation mode cannot be considered a good solution for the following reasons:

  • pluses of "plastic" are reduced to zero - the efficiency of the room's thermal insulation is reduced;
  • ventilation works only when the window is open, which is especially problematic to organize in the cold season or in windy weather;
  • the air flow is uneven and uncontrolled - drafts appear.

Several manufacturers of window systems have taken into account the consequences of complete tightness and have improved metal-plastic structures.

Violation of air exchange negatively affects the health and life of people. Condensation appears on the windows, slopes and walls are covered with mold - the concentration of toxic substances increases

Special ventilation fittings:

  • ventilated profiles;
  • opening stops;
  • partially breathable seals;
  • glazing beads with a regulating valve.

A supply valve is used to ensure the flow of air through the previously installed window.
