Supply ventilation in plastic windows. Why do you need a supply valve on plastic windows and how to install it. Supply ventilation window valves

They have enough advantages over wooden predecessors. But they also have some disadvantages. For example, perfect tightness saved the dwelling from drafts, but at the same time the microclimate changed for the worse.

A ventilation valve for a plastic window will help get rid of this and other problems.

Is it really necessary?

The loose fit of the parts of the wooden window created constant drafts. And if in the summer it was pleasing, then in the winter it was inconvenient. The older generation remembers how they had to seal the cracks in the fall. But at the same time, the dwelling had an ideal microclimate, there was no stale air. For the same reason, ordinary wooden windows do not sweat, and plastic windows often "cry", which leads to the rapid formation of mold.

Do not forget about the factors of normal life:

Drying of the washed linen in the apartment;

Human breath, emitting carbon dioxide,

Sweating;

Generating steam, heating oils during cooking, etc.

These factors can significantly harm the plastic glass unit. Experts recommend airing the room with such windows 1.5-2 hours a day at any time of the year.

Solid dignity

According to manufacturers, a plastic window vent valve is an ideal device. It does not reduce the amount of incoming light, does not cause drafts, maintains air exchange, creates a constant flow of fresh air, while not cooling the temperature in the room and not deteriorating one of the highly valued properties of plastic insulating glass units - sound insulation.

In addition, the constant flow of air keeps the indoor climate at a comfortable level, while ventilation makes the temperature constantly jump.

Design features

The narrow elongated plastic piece is the ventilation valve for the plastic window. The openings from which the air taken from the street comes out are directed upwards. Thanks to this, there are no drafts and the air temperature in the room remains constant.

Valves from almost all manufacturers have several options for operation. Adjustment is necessary to set a specific air exchange mode. There are usually two reasons: the difference in humidity and temperatures in the home and outside.

Air flow control methods

There are two types of ventilation opening settings:

Manual. For this, in some models, a lace is provided (like in blinds), since the valve is usually located high enough. For other devices, the adjustment takes place through the slider. As a rule, its extreme left position completely opens the damper shutter, while the right one blocks the air flow. Therefore, there are usually no questions about how to close the ventilation valve on a plastic window with manual adjustment. The only inconvenience is that it is rather difficult to choose the correct mode on your own.

Automatic. This option is ideal, but you have to pay extra for it. However, the expenses are justified. For example, by saving heat in winter. In the absence of tenants, the humidity in the room decreases and the device reduces the flow of fresh air. Automatic regulation is based on sensors that measure either indoor and outdoor humidity or pressure.

If the automatic option is based on pressure measurement, then the system works as follows. A curtain with an upper suspension is raised or lowered depending on the pressure of the air flow (wind). If the ventilation valve for a plastic window is equipped with a pressure sensor, which is made of nylon tapes, then the adjustment will be carried out by increasing or decreasing the cross-section of the throughput. The system is simple: the more humid the air in the room, the wider the valve opens.

Valve types

There are only three types of ventilation valves on the market:

  1. Slotted valves. Provide sufficient air flow. It enters through an opening, the width of which ranges from 170 to 400 mm, and the height from 12 to 16 mm. From the street side, the hole is closed by an inlet block. It reliably protects the gap from insects, large particles of dust brought by the wind, and from rain. From the side of the room, the hole is closed by a regulating block. This supply valve for plastic windows is installed in the upper part of the sash or in a horizontal dividing profile. The advantages of this type of device are high throughput and ease of mounting, which does not require dismantling.
  2. Recessed valves. A cheap and simple vent valve for installed PVC windows. The seam valves are supplied into the room through small narrow cutouts in the narthex. The undoubted advantages are the installation, which takes place without much effort, and the preservation of sound insulation. A small minus is a small throughput, which is why folded valves are not suitable for large rooms.
  3. Overhead valves. A similar ventilation valve for plastic windows (reviews of numerous customers confirm this) has the highest throughput. But the overhead option cannot be used on already installed double-glazed windows. You need to prepare a place for it in advance.

A fairly large range of products of this type is presented in stores and markets. They differ in installation methods, the volume of air passed through and other characteristics. The main disadvantage in the use of overhead valves is a significant loss of sound and heat insulation characteristics of glass units. Therefore, experts do not recommend using them at home.

For those who do not want to spoil the window design, the designers have come up with an ideal solution. This is a vent handle for plastic windows. The advantages are significant:

The device is designed to provide natural air flow, which is especially important in the off-season and cold season;

The valve, in combination with the exhaust system, restores the microclimate of the room, eliminating excess moisture;

The handle valve for double-glazed windows is a direct-flow design, therefore, the flow of cold air entering the room does not create condensation, which allows the window to not freeze at low temperatures;

An air filter is installed in the valve, which prevents the penetration of dust into the living room. It needs to be replaced every six months.

How to choose

The ventilation valve for plastic windows (the price starts at 200 rubles) is chosen according to several criteria. Start with the material. It can be metal, wood, or plastic. Another important aspect is the adjustment of the air inlet. The line of inexpensive models does not have this function. They only provide for limiting the flow of air in strong winds.

Also, attention should be paid to the efficiency of the device. As noted in user reviews, it is necessary to build on the number of people living in the room. It is believed that one adult family member needs an air flow of 30 m 3 / h.

The sound-absorbing characteristics of the valve to be selected should be close to the corresponding characteristics of the installed insulating glass units.

If you have to do it yourself, it is better to choose a seam or slotted valve.

There are no other special nuances. It remains only to compare prices, find out brands and study the quality of the offered product.

Manufacturing companies

The most popular are devices of the brands Aereco, Air-Box (Comfort, Comfort-S) and Regel-Air.

Aereco models have different air flow rates. Both oblique direction and straight direction can be adjusted. They also differ in great functionality. In addition to their main responsibilities, Aereco, for example, normalizes the humidity level in the living room. The hygrocontrol function is responsible for this.

Air-Box is the leading manufacturer of ventilation valves. Devices from this manufacturer have the best efficiency parameters and are easy to install. They are also compact and relatively cheap.

Domestic ventilation valves are also on sale. For example, a line of these devices was released by the Mabitek company.

Installation of a ventilation valve on plastic windows

There are only two options. The first is global. Complete replacement of a double-glazed window. Moreover, the new one should be slightly smaller, because a valve will appear at the junction of the frame and slopes. In addition to high costs, there is one more disadvantage - the luminous flux is significantly reduced.

The second option is a window-bound installation. The work takes no more than 30 minutes.

Step-by-step instruction

The device can be mounted in the following ways:

On any flap from above;

On the frame;

At the junction of a window and a wall (possible only when installing a double-glazed window).

The easiest installation option is as follows:

  1. Decide on the location of the valve installation.
  2. Attach the device, then open and close the sash. The valve should not rest against the slope.
  3. Having outlined the attachment points of the device, we make side cuts with a clerical knife.
  4. We remove the insulation that was installed during the installation of the insulating glass unit and insert the fastening seal.
  5. Remove the protective film from the body of the device and fasten it with self-tapping screws to the prepared place.
  6. We insert the additional seals included in the kit between the fasteners.
  7. Opposite the installed product, cut out the old seal and insert the one supplied with the valve.

Installing ventilation valves on plastic windows is not particularly difficult.

Care

The supply valve for plastic windows has some operational features. It is strictly forbidden to wet and wash it. Disassembling is also not recommended. You can use a vacuum cleaner for cleaning. In the case of general cleaning, construction or finishing work, the device must be sealed (for example, with special tape).

The valve is cleaned at least twice a year.

Before the winter cold, it is necessary to properly insulate the valve. Pay special attention to its inner part. If the body of the device is metal, then a plastic thermal break must be installed between the outer and inner parts.

Normal air exchange is essential for any room. However, it is not always possible to install a mechanical ventilation system. The best option is a ventilator for plastic windows. It provides housing with fresh air, which will be constantly supplied, which will eliminate drafts and condensation.

Airing the rooms

The easiest way to ventilate rooms is with open windows. However, it is not the most effective. Together with fresh air, harmful substances from outside penetrate into the house. These are dust and exhaust gases from road transport, as well as cold. Such ventilation is practically impossible near nearby industrial centers.

Now they began to produce PVC windows with micro-ventilation mode... In them, it is enough to turn the handle 45 ° so that a gap appears between the frame and the sash. The outside air will pass through it. With this method, there is almost no noise, and the amount of contamination is minimal compared to an open window. However, the amount of fresh air with such ventilation is not enough for the room.

Another good way to ventilate the room is to put a limiter (comb). The system is attached to the window frame and makes it possible to adjust the ventilation gap. This is an inexpensive method, but it does not solve the main problem - access to fresh air. Cold and noise in ventilation mode penetrates the living space.

They also produce designs with a step ventilation mode. Such a ventilation system in plastic windows works like a comb. Turning the knob opens several positions with different slot sizes.

Self-ventilated windows

After the installation of modern plastic windows, they provide almost complete sealing. Self-ventilated structures were invented for high-quality ventilation. They can be installed in almost all civil and industrial buildings.

In this version, ventilation holes are made in plastic windows. The holes in the profile are at the top and bottom of the frame. Air masses pass through the lower part, after which already heated air enters the room. The system works quite efficiently, but it has some drawbacks. For example, apartments on the upper floors will not be getting enough air. For this reason, special ones have been invented.

Optimal valve options

Such a window ventilation device is considered relatively simple. However, it has design differences depending on the varieties. To understand this, you should know the features of all valve options.

Folded valves are considered the most inexpensive and simplest. The openings in allow air to enter the room using small cutouts. The features of this design are as follows:

  • low price;
  • the ability to install without dismantling PVC windows;
  • simple and quick installation;
  • guarantee of high sound insulation of double-glazed windows;
  • possible automation.

Despite all the advantages listed, this type of valve has one significant drawback - poor flow capacity. It feels good when the windows are closed.

In the slotted air it enters through special valves. They are equipped with two blocks: inlet and regulating, and in more modern models there is only one universal block. Among the advantages of the technology are:

  • thanks to the regulating block, there is complete protection against various external factors, for example, precipitation and insects;
  • good bandwidth;
  • use without dismantling the glass unit.

A serious disadvantage in such valves can be called a relatively complex installation. However, in some models, this drawback is eliminated, for which they are very popular.

There are overhead models, but they are practically not used for residential premises. This is due to the great disadvantages of the valves. They significantly reduce the thermal insulation efficiency of windows, and sound insulation is also completely absent. Such valves are usually installed even before the installation of window structures. This is due to the preliminary adjustment of the opening. In the field of production, this type of supply ventilation is widely used. The demand is due to the excellent bandwidth.

Ventilators for plastic windows

Criterias of choice

During the operation of a ventilated window, it is necessary for the supply ventilation to function efficiently. Each valve option has its pros and cons. To make the right choice, you need to take into account the following characteristics:

Experts advise not to consider options in which there is no way to regulate the valve. During their operation, the need to change the air flow is mandatory. Usually, mechanisms are made with manual, automatic and mixed tuning. It is advisable to choose a tandem from the first two. Supply ventilation will be most effective if the exhaust ventilation is performing its function. any design is easy to maintain, and this is another advantage. The main rule of maintenance is cleaning the surface from dirt., which is done once a year.

Depending on the mechanism of the structure, its structure is different. The air supply can be regulated or it will operate continuously. To create an optimal indoor climate, it is advisable to give preference to models with the ability to adjust.

The most comfortable is the automatic setting mode. In such a mechanism, when the optimal parameters change, regulation takes place. A humidity control sensor in the room monitors humidity readings. It can change the cross-section of the air passage in several modes and even completely close the access. This type of control device can significantly reduce heat loss. When there are no people in the room, there is no ventilation.

With a manual method of ventilation, you must independently think about regulating the supply of fresh air. The operating time of the valve is selected by the person himself in manual mode. Only a strong wind is capable of limiting the air flow with this setting.

When operating such a system, drafts occur in the room, which is harmful to health and uncomfortable. A normal supply of fresh air with automatic adjustment will relieve bad health and mood.

Good day to all!

One of my especially talkative neighbors has recently begun to often complain of feeling unwell.

Although she is already a grandmother, everyone works in production. The room is always stuffy, but when you open a window, there’s a draft right away.

I ask if there is a supply valve in the windows. He says that he does not know about this.

It is understandable, life is not the same without a valve. Sit down closer, now I will talk about what it is and what it is for.

Since it is impossible to live in a completely sealed airtight space, and simple ventilation of the room through the windows cannot be a panacea (since heat and sound insulation is disturbed), there is a number of ventilation devices produced by large manufacturers of PVC profile systems and firms specializing only in ventilation devices.

These devices are designed so that outside air can enter the premises, ventilate them and remove polluted air.

At present, a whole industry has been created in the West for the production of ventilation devices.

Window ventilation devices from Aereco (France), Renson and Titon (Belgium), Siegenia (Germany) have already appeared on the Russian construction market.

As for the classification of ventilation devices, they certainly include a variety of opening limiters, micro-ventilation devices manufactured by fittings manufacturers, and opening dampers, valves and special ventilation ducts installed on PVC profiles, and ventilation devices in the lower or upper part. frames.

Let's try to consider the principles of operation of some ventilation devices.

For example, ventilation flaps and strips are a very large group developed by manufacturers of PVC profiles.

They are manually adjusted, they can be compared with the opening limiters included in the set of fittings (micro-ventilation, etc.), only these devices (unlike fittings mechanisms) are separate parts of window structures and their installation must be provided in advance, at the stage of measuring openings ...

Depending on your desire, you open the required number of through holes made in the strip and the air inside the strip passes through a set of ventilation holes offset from each other.

A significant disadvantage of ventilation devices of this type is their orientation towards use in apartments that are not exposed to intense noise loads from highways, railways and other noise sources - reducing sound insulation.

For trouble-free opening and closing of the air exchanger, a lever drive is used, which can be attached to all types of window frames.

The disadvantage is the reduction of the light opening by 80 mm, due to the installation of the Aeromat ventilator between the casement profile and the glass unit.

Nevertheless, the manufacturer is counting on the high popularity of this model. designed to greatly simplify the life of both home residents and office workers.

Another example - the REHAU-Climamat ventilation valve - is installed directly on the window element.

At the same time, the valve allows you to regulate the air flow, avoid high humidity and ensure an optimal indoor climate.

The goals of Rehau's development were to realize an optically minimally visible device and the desire to avoid milling holes in the profiles, which makes a return to the original state impossible.

Device advantages:

  • silent regulation of air flow;
  • replaceable filter;
  • step-by-step air flow control using a control valve;
  • minimal likelihood of drafts due to vertical air distribution;
  • applicable for any load;
  • independent of the window unit.

This valve works fully automatically and completely silently: the plastic membrane allows air to pass through or blocks its path. Under normal wind conditions, the membrane is open.

In strong winds, the ventilation duct is closed by the air flow in order to avoid large heat losses due to active air exchange. When the external air pressure drops, the membrane begins to let air through again.

The device was specially designed for use in panel buildings. The company Rehau AG long ago identified the problem of ventilation and already in 1986 presented the first ventilation duct for installation on translucent structures made of PVC profiles.

Recently, one of the most common companies for the production of ventilation devices has become the Aereco company, which offers a fairly wide range of these products.

The motto of this French company is "Smart Ventilation".

Aereco supply and exhaust devices are automatically controlled by special actuator sensors made of polyamide fabric.

This fabric tends to lengthen or contract depending on changes in the relative humidity of the air.

The higher the humidity, the more the damper opens, allowing air to pass through.

Aereco window valves effectively solve the problem of stuffiness, accumulation of radon, the release of excess water vapor, and, consequently, condensation on glass and the formation of mold in rooms with sealed windows.

The Aereco valve cuts into the upper part of the window (sash), therefore, reacting to changes in humidity right at the window itself.

Helpful advice!

Aereco offers a whole series of humidity-controlled air inlets with different air flow rates and sound absorption levels.

Aereco air inlets direct the cold air stream to the ceiling, eliminating drafts in the serviced area and, when fully open, provide sound insulation from traffic noise of 33-42 dB.

They constantly, automatically, 24 hours a day, in any weather, provide good air quality and adjust the air flow, depending on the need for ventilation.

Aereco air inlets can be installed on all types of window frames - plastic, wood, aluminum.

In addition, they work without the use of electricity and are very easy to maintain: it is recommended to clean the valve once a year, without dismantling the device.

Many potential customers have a question: will the valves freeze in winter? Without heating the outside air, some parts of the valve body inside the room will inevitably have the outside air temperature.

It would seem that the appearance of ice on them is inevitable. But this is where Aereco's proprietary design tricks come in.

The valve is designed in such a way that the external dry cold air blows around the cold parts of the valve, preventing the internal warm moist air from contacting them. It is clear that in this case "freezing" is excluded.

For rooms with intense moisture release (kitchens, bathrooms, etc.), Aereco manufactures exhaust grilles that control the quality of the exhaust air depending on the humidity level.

Exhaust grilles can be switched on manually or automatically using motion sensors. Removing moisture directly from the source of moisture release has a beneficial effect on the humidity regime of the apartment as a whole.

In addition, the range of products includes fire dampers for exhaust devices, filters, fans.

But back to the window valves. In Moscow, many manufacturers of translucent structures supply their products with Aereco ventilation valves.

Since the installation of valves is possible not only in the workshop for the manufacture of windows, but also on already mounted windows without dismantling them and replacing double-glazed windows, a number of large companies provide additional services for installing Aereco valves on windows that are already in operation.

It should be noted that the installation of these devices on the cover (frame-sash, frame, sash or impost profile) does not reduce the window light opening, i.e. it does not get darker in the room, and this often becomes a determining criterion when choosing a ventilation device.

The problem of over-sealing of modern PVC plastic windows with double-glazed windows has long been known and its negative consequences - stuffiness, high humidity, condensation on glass in the cold season, the appearance of mold and fungi on slopes and walls.

Usually the consumer begins to blame the manufacturer of PVC plastic windows for all these troubles, since there were no such problems with old windows!

However, in the overwhelming majority, such problems are a consequence of a violation of air exchange in the room and stagnation of moisture emitted by the residents themselves in the course of their life.

Designers of residential buildings usually provide only exhaust ducts to remove dirty air from the premises (the same grilles that are in the kitchen, toilet and bathroom).

The inflow of fresh air in GOSTs and SNIPs was always meant through the cracks in the old wooden windows. For a long time, all over the world, the so-called "joinery" was used - windows made of wood with leaking porches, from which it was constantly blowing and thereby providing a constant flow of fresh outside air into the room.

For the same reason, the owners of old windows were not aware of the problem of condensation and mold.

When modern PVC windows are closed, such an inflow disappears, so all the water vapor released by residents during breathing, washing, cooking, etc. stays indoors.

In addition to water vapor, the rooms stagnate

  1. carbon dioxide produced by breathing
  2. smells of finishing materials
  3. food flavors

Recently, employees of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision have been paying more and more attention to the accumulation of radon in residential premises without ventilation in PVC plastic windows.

It is a very dangerous inert radioactive gas, colorless and odorless, emitted from the ground and building materials.

Radon ranks second after smoking among the causes of lung cancer, and provides up to 80% of the total dose of human radiation in everyday life from natural (not man-made) sources.

Ventilation is the only means of dealing with radon that has entered the living space!

Installation of fittings for modern sealed plastic PVC windows allows you to open the sashes, tilt them or make a "slot" opening for ventilation, but due to a number of technical and psychological reasons, residents do not always use this for the following reasons:

Yes, and their own everyday experience of many years of pasting gaps in old windows for the winter tells people that it is better not to open windows in winter.

It turns out a certain paradox: to keep the apartment warm and quiet, you need to keep the PVC windows closed, and to avoid stuffiness and condensation on the glass, you need to constantly open the PVC plastic windows!

2. A person needs at least 25m³ of fresh air per hour to ensure normal life and maintain sufficient working capacity. Lack of oxygen affects health and increases the fatigue of people in the room.

Helpful advice!

In a two-room apartment of 50m2, with a working gas stove, 140m3 of fresh air is required every hour. This means that every hour it is necessary to completely replace the internal air (shock or through ventilation).

24 times a day for 5 minutes, no one will ever open a pvc window (especially at night!), So ventilation in the form in which it is does not provide ventilation rates!

3. When a PVC window is opened, even in the "slot" ventilation mode, outside air enters from the level of the window sill, causing drafts in the area where people are located!

4. Noise insulation of a pvc window block is one of the main criteria when choosing a modern pvc window, however, the airborne noise insulation index is:

  • Pvc window CLOSED - 34db
  • PVC window sash installation in SLOT VENTILATION MODE - 18 dB
  • PVC window sash installation in VENTILATION MODE (OPENED) - 9db

And here we see a paradox:

Ventilation of the room by simply opening a PVC window, even in the "slot ventilation" mode, also has other negative consequences:

  • sharp temperature drop;
  • contamination of the room with dust and the penetration of allergenic pollen into it;
  • decrease in security in terms of unauthorized access to the premises from outside (an open window, especially on the lower floors, attracts attention).

All of the above leads to the fact that residents, despite all the advantages of modern pvc windows, experience discomfort due to a violation of air exchange in the dwelling, but are reluctant to use the possibilities of pvc window fittings for ventilation.

SOLUTION OF THE VENTILATION PROBLEM: INSTALLATION OF THE AERECO SUPPLY VALVE ON THE WINDOWS!

A compromise was found with the invention of AERECO special ventilation inlet valves, which are installed directly into a plastic window.

Installation of a ventilation damper for supply ventilation AERECO allows you to let outside air into the room without opening the sash of the plastic windows.

Naturally, for the passage of air, there must be either a hole in the window cover, or a gap between the end of the glass unit and the window profile, however, when installing AERECO supply ventilation valves, cold air enters the ceiling without causing drafts in the area where people are located.

Advantages of installing a ventilation valve for supply ventilation on the windows

  1. The throughput of the ventilation valve of the supply ventilation is up to 35 m3 of air per hour, which fully complies with the norms for air flow.
  2. Sound insulation of AERECO supply ventilation valves, depending on the configuration, is up to 42 dB, which corresponds to the sound insulation of modern sealed windows when closed.
  3. A stream of cold air from the ventilation valve of the supply ventilation on the AERECO windows is directed towards the ceiling and does not cause drafts in the area where people are located; fresh air is supplied with the ventilation valve of the supply ventilation AERECO without a noticeable increase in the noise level in the room.
  4. Unlike periodic ventilation, the inflow of fresh air through the ventilation valve of the supply ventilation for AERECO plastic windows occurs CONSTANTLY, which does not allow radon to accumulate in the room. The ventilation valve of supply ventilation for AERECO windows does not close hermetically and this is not a waste, but was made SPECIALLY to reduce the risk of freezing of the valve and freezing of the AERECO damper.
  5. AERECO ventilation valves for supply ventilation do not reduce the light opening, since the supply ventilation valve for plastic windows is small and is mounted in the upper part of the window on a through rectangular slot.
  6. Installation of a ventilation valve for AERECO plastic windows is possible not only during the manufacture of a window in a production workshop, but also after the installation of a window at the facility without dismantling and replacing the glass unit.
  7. The use of the AERECO ventilation supply valve for plastic windows allows to solve almost all sanitary and hygienic problems in residential premises with sealed windows.

The AERECO ventilation supply valve can be viewed, on the one hand, as a window accessory along with a mosquito net, window sill, blinds, etc., and on the other, as ventilation equipment.

INSTALLATION OF THE INTAKE VALVE ON AERECO WINDOWS SOLVES ALMOST ALL THE PROBLEMS OF SANITARY AND HYGIENIC CHARACTER IN RESIDENTIAL SPACES WITH SEALED WINDOWS AND SAVES ALL ADVANTAGES OF MODERN WINDOWS!

As you know, it’s never good cheap… Installation of supply valves on plastic windows is associated with rather high costs.

For example, the cost of the AERECO ventilation damper of the EMM or EHA series in a complete set, which includes the damper itself, an acoustic canopy and a mosquito net, can reach up to 150 EURO. The VENT Air II valve will cost a little less - 2,000 rubles.

For all their uniqueness, these supply valves have one significant drawback, their high-quality installation is possible only in the factory.

In the upper part of the plastic window on a special milling machine, 2 through channels are cut in the frame and sash profile.

It is not possible to carry out this type of work on previously purchased and already mounted windows.

Yes, there are “craftsmen” who offer this service. It happens like this. The master fixes alternately on the sash and on the frame a massive metal template, if available, in most cases - this happens "by eye".

On this, as a rule, the installation ends, the resulting torn edges of the frame are closed with parts of the supply valve. The cost of this type of work is regulated only by the greed of these "masters".

The owner of the window receives a damaged window, a mountain of metal and plastic sawdust within a radius of 2 meters from the window where the work was carried out. Deception of the buyer is obvious.

All owners of plastic windows who did not order supply ventilation at the time of installation of the product are advised by the Center of Windows to pay attention to the Russian supply ventilation valve Air-Box Comfort.

Its cost does not exceed 400 rubles, the installation does not require milling of plastic profiles, and absolutely anyone who knows how to hold a screwdriver can handle the installation. The valve is sold with detailed installation instructions and all necessary fasteners.

Center Windows invites you to familiarize yourself with the installation process of the Air-Box Comfort valve using the example of an ordinary Moscow apartment. For convenience, we have put down the time spent by our customer for installation work.

Comfort is the AERECO supply valve!

- Do your windows breathe at night?

A person wants to live not just in a warm house, he wants to live in comfortable conditions. When applied to the air environment of an apartment, this concept includes temperature, humidity and air velocity.

It is the right combination of these parameters that makes a person feel comfortable. The composition of the air is also of great importance.

When people breathe in the room, the oxygen content decreases and the concentration of carbon dioxide and other harmful impurities increases. The content of water vapor in the air also increases, i.e. air humidity increases.

Only with the help of ventilation: the organization of constant controlled air exchange - the admission of fresh air from the street into the apartment, which mixes with dirty air and, going into the exhaust ventilation ducts, takes away excess water, carbon dioxide, unwanted impurities and odors from the apartment.

This is called: VENTILATION.

If the apartment is empty, for example, in the morning everyone left for work and school, the release of moisture will be minimal. Moisture will enter the volume of the room only due to evaporation from flowers, an aquarium (if any) and pets.

Since there are always some gaps in the windows, front doors and walls, throughout the day the outside air will “dilute” the air in the apartment, reducing its relative humidity.

Obviously, by the time the tenants return, the humidity will drop to a certain constant level, let's call it “basic” humidity or “humidity in an empty apartment”.

The value of the "basic" humidity will depend on the air temperature outside (the stronger the frost, the drier the air in the apartment), its relative humidity, as well as the moisture release in the premises.

In well-heated apartments in severe frosts, the relative humidity level can drop to 10-15%, which is unhealthy and, on the contrary, it is recommended to specially humidify such air to prevent respiratory problems.

But with the arrival of tenants, the picture changes significantly.

Wet shoes, breathing and sweating, using the bathroom, cooking, washing and drying clothes all lead to an increase in relative humidity (evening humidity spike).

When all things are redone, people rest, and then sleep, the humidity level gradually decreases (intensive airing before bedtime, of course, speeds up this process).

The window that was left ajar in the bedroom also naturally helps to more intensively remove moisture from the apartment. In the morning, there is a second spike in humidity levels (shower, boiling kettle, etc.).

Even at night, when, for example, one couple is asleep, they emit about 2 liters of water. That is why so often you can hear that people wake up with a headache.

Another conclusion suggests itself, if at night, for example, people sleep in bedrooms, then the flow of fresh air must be organized mainly in the bedrooms.

An increase in the flow into the living room will be required, on the contrary, in the evening, when the family gathers in front of the TV, ventilation of empty bedrooms is not required at this time.

Indeed, the cold air coming from the street must be heated, and this requires the consumption of thermal energy.

Experts estimate the share of heat costs for heating ventilation air at 50-70% of the total cost of heating housing (for houses with modern energy-efficient windows and warm walls).

As long as tenants pay certain fixed sums for heat, they have no incentive to save heat energy by observing a careful compromise between the need for fresh air and heat conservation (as in the West).

At present, the problems of heat conservation affect only the owners of individual residential and public buildings, who pay the real cost of heat or fuel for boilers.

But even residents of high-rise buildings receive real savings from reasonable energy savings. Each apartment receives a certain amount of heat from the heating plant, brought by the hot water of the heating systems.

As the outdoor temperature drops, the amount of this heat automatically increases. But they still need to be disposed of in a businesslike manner.

If the apartment has old, poorly closing, leaky windows, from the slots of which cold air flows, the heating system simply will not be able to raise the air temperature to a comfortable one.

For the winter, you yourself need to take care of their tightness, plug up the cracks, seal them with paper, etc. And in special cases, you need to turn on the heater and pay for it over the counter.

If you replace old wooden windows with modern ones in an apartment, you will definitely feel that the apartment has become much warmer and quieter. But as is often the case, solving one problem can lead to another.

Without normative air exchange, the level of relative humidity, the concentration of carbon dioxide, harmful impurities, radon gas, etc. increase.

The result is known:

  • moisture condensation on double-glazed windows in the cold season (especially in renovated premises)
  • mold on the slopes
  • stuffiness

The fact is that the cracks in the old windows provided an influx of fresh dry air and, in a certain sense of the word, constantly ventilated the apartment.

When large companies gathered, wet cleanings and large washings took place, well-known air vents came to the rescue for drying clothes.

Note!

With the replacement of windows, the situation has changed - the air flow has dropped sharply.

The grilles in the kitchen, bathroom and toilet are only part of the ventilation system, they are the ways for the exhaust air to escape.

The hood does not work without fresh air entering through the window - it has nothing to draw out of the apartment. Only what is included comes out!

Of course, you can open the window sash in one way or another, using the capabilities of modern fittings: a tilt-and-turn opening mechanism, slot ventilation, opening stops.

Consider only three things:

  • in any case, cold (especially in winter) outside air will enter the room already from the level of the window sill, i.e. You will get drafts in the area where people are located.
  • you will largely lose the soundproofing properties of a modern window (from 34 dB (A) to 18 dB (A) in the "slot ventilation" mode and up to 9 dB (A) in the normal ventilation mode). But they often take to the noisy busy streets.
  • the slightly open sash on the lower floors makes some people think to visit your apartment without an invitation. It is better to forget about the old way of "airing before bed".

You will drastically overcool the bedroom due to volley hyperventilation, and then after an hour or two, with the windows closed, you will breathe dirty air again. In this case, there is no need to be surprised at a headache in the morning.

In addition, you never know exactly how long and how to open the window. Insufficient opening does not completely eliminate the stuffiness, and excessive opening reduces the temperature in the room.

Helpful advice!

The different methods of "micro-ventilation" offered by the manufacturers of PVC profiles do not solve the problem either.

With this method, a small amount of external air through the holes and slots organized in the window profile itself enters the room and, diluting the humid air in the area of the window niche, reduces the likelihood of fogging of the glass unit.

But the amount of air in 1-2 cubic meters per hour with a pressure drop of 10 Pa does not in any way correspond to the norms for air inflow (30-60 cubic meters per hour - according to the "Air exchange rate or the amount of air removed from the room" SNiP 2.08.01- 89 requires 3 cubic meters / hour per 1 square meter of residential premises).

No, it is a constant and controlled ventilation process that must be organized in residential premises.

Fresh air must in one way or another get through the windows into the living rooms, dilute the dirty air, go through the interior doors into the corridor, get to the exhaust openings in the kitchen and go back to the street, taking away excess moisture, carbon dioxide, etc.

And maybe the most important thing: a person cannot know when, where, how long to ventilate.

He most often found out what was needed after damage had already appeared, for example from moisture.

Some firms that produce plastic profiles for the manufacture of windows have come up with special profiles with adjustable ventilation holes.

True, these adjustments are carried out manually at random, and you can use such special profiles at the time of manufacturing a new window.

But what if the windows are already in the apartment? In addition, in addition to plastic, many windows are made of wood and aluminum, this method is not suitable for them.

Now not only window operators and specialists are talking about this, but also those people who have paid quite a lot of money for new windows.

A number of companies produce special supply valves for windows. Some of them are installed in a small through hole in the window binding, others replace part of the glass unit, unfortunately reducing the window opening.

Again, they can be manually closed either completely, or stepwise, or smoothly open. It is always very difficult to find the optimal damper position.

For automatic regulation, it is necessary to select some physical parameter, showing that the air in the room is polluted and it is time to change it.

Indeed, all human activities (breathing, cooking, washing, etc.) lead to an increase in relative humidity.

In addition, increased humidity leads to dampness in the apartment, mold on wallpaper and furniture, fogging of windows and window slopes.

Therefore, such hygro-regulated automatic ventilation systems should open smoothly with an increase in humidity, well, and when everyone has gone to work, reduce the flow of outside air so as not to cool the apartment in vain.

Since 1983, the French company AERECO has been producing a unique ventilation system that offers automatic air inlets for installation on plastic windows.

Air supply units "AERECO" of the EMM and EHA models can also operate autonomously without exhaust grilles (at the same time, the efficiency of the system in terms of energy saving is somewhat reduced).

They are small-sized, do not occupy the light opening, because They are mounted on a through hole on the window frame from the outside and the sash from the inside, and, most importantly, even when fully opened, they do not deteriorate the noise-protective properties of the window, even when fully opened, the traffic noise suppression index ranges from 33 to 42 dB (A), depending on the version ( the PVC window itself has 30-35 dB (A) when closed).

Helpful advice!

You can install them on a window from any material.

They can be installed on a window made of any materials, both in the process of their manufacture in the workshop, and in an inhabited apartment without dismantling and replacing the double-glazed window.

Installing them in the upper part of the window allows you to direct the stream of external air to the ceiling, without causing drafts in the area where people are located.

In European countries, these devices have long been known and widely used. Now these products can be installed by Eurostyle specialists in your apartment to improve your comfort and quality of life!

Systems on the market can be divided into three categories.

Slotted

The device is mounted in the upper part of the opening sash or vertical impost. For installation, you have to dismantle part of the fittings and mill holes in the metal-plastic profile. If you are not confident in your abilities, it is better to entrust the work to professionals.

Structurally, the system consists of two blocks. One is mounted from the side of the street. It serves both as an air intake and a visor that protects the channel from precipitation. The second block is placed on the inside. It contains a mechanism that regulates the intensity of ventilation.

The main advantage of this design is its high throughput. The length of the ventilation duct varies within 170-400 mm, and the width is 12-16 mm. This is enough to organize the microclimate in large rooms.

Overhead

They are integrated into the window profile at the stage of frame manufacturing. It will not be possible to establish them after the fact. In everyday life, such systems are not used due to the excessively large bandwidth. They are usually used for ventilation of large offices and sales areas.

Products are indispensable in pavilions with solid glazing, when it is not possible to make ventilation ducts in load-bearing structures. Unlike wall models, their disadvantage is low sound and thermal insulation.

Folded

They became popular due to their low cost and ease of installation. You can install them yourself in just half an hour.

The product is placed on the top of the sash in a gap. Fresh air enters the room through a small gap in the seal. The design is very simple, but it provides for the possibility of adjusting the air flow.

It is useless to install such devices in a hall or large living room. They will not provide adequate air exchange. They are best used in a kitchen or small bedroom.

Methods for adjusting valves on PVC windows

Manual

A knob or slider is provided on the body of such devices. Its movement changes the position of the damper, and hence the intensity of the air flow. Such designs are reliable and durable. There is practically nothing to break in them. However, there are a number of disadvantages:

  • Limited access. The controls are located at the top of the sash. Every time you need to change the position of the flap, you have to take a chair. In some models, this problem is solved by installing a lace, like in blinds.
  • Static. It is very difficult to maintain a constant microclimate with their help. To achieve a comfortable environment, you have to change the position of the shutter depending on the weather. It is not always possible to find the correct mode.

Automatic

Such products have a number of advantages:

  • Maintain a constant microclimate. The device automatically creates preset comfortable temperature and humidity. The air flow rate is adjusted based on the readings of the sensors.
  • Autonomous. The product works without electronic components. It does not need mains power or batteries. The flap is moved by nylon belts. Depending on the pressure, they change their length and, accordingly, the position of the damper.
  • Profitability. The supply of fresh air increases with increasing humidity, for example if there are many people in the house or if laundry is drying. In a relaxed environment, the device does not overcool the house, which reduces heating costs.

Pros and cons of supply ventilation valves

Advantages:

  • Household appliances are simple and reliable. You can install them yourself.
  • The vent cover removes excess moisture from the most favorable place for its formation - the border of the temperature difference. If there was perspiration or condensation on the double-glazed windows, the number of drops decreases or they disappear altogether.
  • There are no drafts in the room, as with micro-ventilation or full opening of the window. This means that the risk of colds is reduced.
  • Air exchange between the apartment and the street takes place continuously. You breathe fresh air all day long, not just when airing out.

Disadvantages:

  • In severe frosts, budget models can freeze over.
  • The vast majority of products do not have filter elements. Because of this, dust and foreign odors enter the house.
  • Only expensive models can cope with full-fledged microclimate control. In the budget, you have to independently monitor the temperature and humidity in the house - constantly changing the position of the damper depending on weather conditions.

How to choose a supply valve for plastic windows

Let's list the most important criteria that you need to pay attention to when choosing:

  • Noisiness. When air masses pass through a restricted opening at high speed, noise is generated. A comfortable sound level is in the range of 30-40 decibels. Models in which a narrow long gap forms on the minimum vestibule can whistle in strong winds. If in the working position the valve does not fit snugly against, it may rattle.
  • Performance. Directly depends on the nominal diameter of the ventilation holes. The larger the area of the channels, the more fresh air enters the house through them. When choosing a specific device, you need to build on the area of the room and the number of residents. The productivity of different devices varies in the range from 6 to 150 m3 / h. It is better to choose a device not exactly according to its parameters, but with a margin of 1.5-2 times.
  • Air preheating. In classic models, cold air masses are warmed up by a warm convection flow from a radiator. In northern regions, this may not be enough. Then you need to select electrically heated equipment.
  • Filter type. In structures that are mounted on the sash, they are absent. Models integrated into the frame can be equipped with filter elements. When using them, dust from the street does not get into the room. But the filter must be constantly cleaned, otherwise the performance of the device will greatly decrease.
  • Installation method. There are universal models that can be integrated into the window profile of any manufacturer. Some of them you can install yourself. But some of the structures must be mounted at the stage of manufacturing the frame.
  • Price. Each of the options listed above affects the cost. If you are too demanding on the microclimate, it is worth comparing window devices with other options for climatic products.

  7. Close the window and mark the dimensions of the device on the frame.
  8. Cut out a fragment of the frame seal according to the markings.
  9. Insert a new thin elastic band.

Optionally, the product can be supplied with an external air intake. A filter element is installed in it, which retains atmospheric dust. A step-by-step installation guide is provided in the video.

Installation manual for Aereco equipment

The devices are designed for automatic regulation of the microclimate. They integrate into the frame to provide greater air exchange. The installation breaks the integrity of the profiles, so you need to be careful. If you doubt your abilities, it is better to use the services of competent specialists. We carry out the work in the following sequence:

  1. We mark the middle of the window sash.
  2. We fasten a metal template or a plastic mounting plate.
  3. With a drill with a diameter of 4-5 mm, we make centering holes along the edges.
  4. Using the template, mark the contour of the future slots and remove it.
  5. We drill holes with a 10 mm drill.
  6. With a jigsaw, a renovator or a router, we cut the grooves between the holes.
  7. With the window closed, transfer the dimensions of the holes to the frame.
  8. We install the template on the frame profile and repeat all the operations for milling the grooves. For the convenience of work, we temporarily take out the sealing gum.
  9. We fasten the mounting plate from the inside.
  10. We install on her an element with a valve that regulates air exchange.
  11. We fasten the protective visor from the outside.

You can clearly see the installation process in the video.

If you need to ventilate a small room or get rid of glass fogging, simple designs like Air-Box will do. For autonomous microclimate control, products of the Aereco type are becoming the best solution. And the given tips and tricks will help you install the ventilation valve with your own hands.

  • Prepared by: Igor Stepankov

Practice shows that metal-plastic window systems are practical and energy efficient. They have sound insulation, and full tightness protects the home from drafts and cold weather in winter. Unfortunately, the installation of plastic windows in an apartment contributes to air stagnation due to the lack of natural ventilation in PVC windows. In order not to open the windows for ventilation every time, it is necessary to install a valve, thanks to which fresh air will flow into the dwelling.

Installing the valve on plastic windows

The valve is fastened horizontally on top of the window sash. Thanks to it, the supply air will regularly enter the room, creating a normal microclimate. In addition, such a problem as condensation on the windows will go away. It is important that the consumer has no difficulty in manually adjusting the amount of wind flow that is required.

The valve works when the window is closed. Small streams of air will flow closer to the ceiling, so the owner of the house will not feel inconvenience from a draft. The choice of valves is varied, they are produced by both domestic and foreign manufacturers, standard and meeting the latest modern requirements, reacting to changes in humidity in the apartment.

Attention! You can install the valve on a plastic window with your own hands end-to-end - between the window and the wall. To mount the ventilation device, you do not need to dismantle the window - just milling or drilling holes.

The specificity of the valve installation depends on the profile design (with increased noise protection or air permeability). Installation is carried out without milling, 400 mm of the sealant is removed in the outer contour. If the profile is with increased noise protection, removal is carried out at the bottom of the block. If a profile with increased air permeability is removed at the top, opposite the installation site of the ventilation valve.

What supply valves are

There are three types of valves:

  • wooden;
  • metal;
  • plastic.

The ventilation device can be adjusted with:

  • electric motor;
  • manually;
  • cord;
  • barbell.

Depending on the valve design, 3 standard operating modes are used:

  • When it is open and air from the street enters the house. When purchasing a valve, the technical passport indicates the maximum throughput of this device. Standard rates are 35-50 m3 per hour.
  • The valve can be in a closed mode, then the air enters the apartment with an intensity of 5 m3 per hour.
  • If the valve is automatically controlled, it will turn on when the humidity level rises.

Important! The secret of automation is simple - there is a polyamide fabric on the flaps of the valve, it is presented in the form of bundles of ribbons. When humidity rises or falls, the fabric reacts - either expands or contracts. This brings the valve to the appropriate mode. If the valve responds to pressure inside the room, then it is equipped with a curtain with an upward suspension. With a strong wind flow, the curtain rises, preventing the passage of air into the apartment.

Window ventilation value: comparison table

Plastic windows without valvePlastic windows with valve
If children and pets live in the apartment, windows must not be left open without supervision.The valve lets air through when the window is closed, which is very safe if there are children in the apartment.
Ventilation in winter leads to rapid cooling of the apartment.The air from the street comes in continuously, but the valve can be closed if the temperature in the apartment has dropped.
When closed, the plastic window is very tight, it does not allow air to pass through.Air masses circulate for 24 hours with closed windows and no owners.
Together with the wind masses, city dust penetrates into the apartment during ventilation.Filters in the valves prevent dust from entering the apartment.
Mold appears on the slopes due to excess moisture.Valve windows prevent the windows from fogging up and the formation of mildew.
When ventilated, windows allow city noise to pass through.Complete sound insulation during valve operation.
A large flow of air, a draft in damp weather when ventilated leads to colds.There is no draft even in the coldest season.

Successful novelty handle-valve

Installation of a supply valve on a plastic window is possible by mounting a special handle. This option is suitable if the owner of the apartment wants to keep the window intact and safe, but at the same time install a supply valve. This can be done at the place where the handle of the euro window is attached. The inflow of air masses is carried out in the lower zone, where condensate accumulates most of all. Thanks to the valve mounted under the window handle, as well as the natural ventilation of the house, a healthy indoor climate is ensured.

Important! There is a filter inside the ventilation unit, which helps to clean the supply air. Manufacturers recommend changing the filter every 6 months.

How to install a supply valve on plastic windows in place of the handle

  1. It is necessary with the help of a drill to make 5 small holes with a diameter of 12 mm with a pitch of 21 mm on one side of the profile. You need to drill along one line. And one more additional hole is made directly to secure the valve.
  2. On the opposite side, 5 similar holes are also made for air ducts.
  3. With the help of special tubes inserted into opposite holes, air ducts are formed. Then silicone is used on both sides around the tubes.
  4. The assembled valve is fixed to the profile with screws, screws.
  5. The ventilation ducts are closed by the air intake casing with the filter.
  6. It is imperative to check the operation of the ventilation device, only then fix the decorative plugs on the screws.

Correct adjustment value of the window valve

Competent installation of ventilation valves in plastic windows is half the battle. In order for this element to provide the expected effect, you must be able to use it. For example, so that the valve on the plastic window does not freeze, it must be properly adjusted.

Factors important to know about a window valve in winter:

  • thanks to the warm air in the room, the valve will warm up completely;
  • in severe frosts, the valve cannot be completely closed;
  • when the valve is completely closed at x in frosty weather, it is necessary to glue the gap for the air flow from the outside;
  • after installing the valve in the house, you can hear noise, this should not be scared. The gap in the supply valves is small, therefore the noise will be negligible.

Most popular brands of supply window valves

Aereko

The supply valves are equipped with dampers made of polyamide fabric, which is very sensitive to an increase in air humidity. At high humidity values, a gap is formed in the damper through which the supply air enters. When the humidity is normal, the flap is lowered, while closing the gap. Valves from this manufacturer can easily endure the coldest winters and do not freeze.

Rehau

The brand offers a wide range of window valves that differ not only in price but also in configurations. They are characterized by automatic operation and noiselessness. The valve is based on a plastic membrane - it is very sensitive to wind force. If the wind is strong gusty, then it closes, if it is completely calm or light breeze, it opens. It is often used in panel houses for ventilation.

Siegenia

The products are manufactured by a German company. The consumer first of all needs to understand that when installing the valve, it can reduce the window clearance. The design is suitable for large panoramic windows and balcony solutions.

Attention! The answer to the question of how to install a supply valve on plastic windows with your own hands may be completely different. From manufacturers of metal-plastic structures, you can order windows with an already built-in ventilation system. They have already received their name "smart" among the people.

Regardless of the model, the inlet valve becomes dirty over time, therefore, it is recommended to remove dust from the device with a damp cloth. You can use a vacuum cleaner. Do not wash the valve with household chemicals, as well as wet and disassemble. If the house is undergoing renovation work, it is better to cover it with a film, in order to avoid the ingress of construction dust into the cracks.
