Small diameter pvc sewer pipe. Sewer pipe dimensions. Sewer plastic pipes: dimensions, characteristics, installation features

Today, in order to divert wastewater and create a reliable system, the installation of PVC sewer pipes has become the most popular. Thanks to the polyvinyl chloride included in the composition, their performance characteristics have become much higher than similar metal products.

It is about such plastic pipes installed in the sewer network that we will talk about in this article.

After many years of testing plastic in a wide variety of construction and industrial areas, it has become popular in the installation of sewer systems.

Currently, no one doubts the high quality of such a product. Its merits are difficult to dispute. The most important advantages of the 110 mm pipe are:

  1. Elasticity... The product has the ability to deform under high pressure or mechanical stress. Moreover, the surface of the pipe does not crack, it just gets forced curvature. The reliability in this case remains unchanged.
  2. Not afraid of corrosion... Any plastic is never rusty. No fungus appears on its surface. Does not rot. PVC products do not react with aggressive substances and various detergents. The temperature regime of such products is in a very wide range. Severe frost or heat will not affect the properties of the material.
  3. Light weight... PVC pipe 110 mm weighs 10 times less than its cast iron counterparts. Therefore, the transportation and installation of the sewerage system is much faster.
  4. Absolutely smooth surface inside, on which dirt is never deposited, it does not become a source of unpleasant odors.
  5. Easy handling... Easily sawn with a conventional hacksaw for working with metal.
  6. Fireproof... When the pipe hits an open flame, it begins to melt. Plastic is a non-combustible material, so no fire occurs.
  7. Supplied with a large number of fittings... This creates wastewater disposal in apartment buildings.
  8. Low cost... Steel counterparts are priced 10 times more than any plastic pipe.

If you carefully examine the photo with the image of PVC pipes 110 mm, it becomes obvious that their appearance is quite presentable and they do not need additional painting. They are in perfect harmony with the existing interior, and will look good from the outside of the building.

Red PVC pipes look very bright. They look like tree trunks. Such color saturation attracts attention and once again reminds of danger.

Characteristics of plastic pipes for sewage with a diameter of 110 mm

Such plastic products have gained great popularity due to their design, as well as the ability to use them in the most adverse conditions.

Depending on their purpose, these PVC products are divided into several subgroups:

  1. Installation of the internal system.
  2. External sewerage lining.
  3. Installation of a pressure system designed to remove wastewater under high pressure.
  4. Installation of a gravity drainage system for wastewater.
  5. They are very durable. Each type has its own markings. The most durable is a plastic pressure pipe. It has a maximum wall thickness.

The corresponding color is selected for each product.

Outdoor pipes are colored orange. When creating an internal system - in a gray tint, which is not very noticeable.

Assembling the drainage system

For assembly work, a large number of fittings and other fittings are used:

  • tees;
  • crosses;
  • couplings;
  • bends;
  • stubs.

The tightness of the connection is provided by rubber cuffs located in the sockets. No additional sealant treatment is required.

Gardeners quickly appreciated the quality of plastic products. They make special devices from such pipes to grow vegetables and berries in their backyard. These systems do not take up much space. But they look very original and show high performance.

How to choose and where to install PVC pipes

A feature of sewer pipes when choosing is the wall thickness. This is due to the fact that most of the sewer systems are made free of pressure. Therefore, it does not make sense to take into account the pressure when choosing.

It is very important that the strength of the wall can withstand a large volume of liquid and various mechanical influences.

When choosing 110 mm PVC sewer pipes, only 2 parameters are taken into account:

  • inner diameter capable of passing a large volume of wastewater;
  • wall thickness.

Indoor sewerage

Such a system is created from gray PVC pipes. The characteristic features of these products are:

  1. Smooth inner wall surface.
  2. Socket connection.
  3. Diameters - 32–110 mm.
  4. Length - 315-3000 mm.

The wall thickness is selected depending on the working conditions. For gravity systems, this value is not less than 1.8 mm.

Outdoor sewerage system

Orange pipes are used to install it. Sometimes they are bright yellow in color. Since they have to work in very harsh conditions, a specific wall thickness has been assigned to each diameter.

Below are some data regarding 200mm pipe. With a trench depth of 4 meters and a stiffness SN 2, the thickness should be at least 3.9 mm.

The burial depth reaches 6 m and the stiffness is SN 4, the wall size must exceed 4.9 mm.

If the working conditions are very harsh, and the pipe is placed at a depth of more than 8 m, then the wall thickness should be up to 5.9 mm. Similar tabular data can be viewed for other dimensions. When the development of a sewer system project is carried out, these data are taken as the basis.

Sewerage with installation of PVC pressure pipes

When a sewer system is being installed, where the removal of effluents is compulsory, special pumps are installed. For this, PVC pressure pipes are used, the walls of which can freely withstand high pressure.

In the manufacture of such products, increased requirements are imposed. Today, pressure pipes are produced in 3 types, each of which is designed for a specific pressure, from 6 to 12.5 kg / cm2.

When choosing, the connection option is also taken into account.

In a gravity sewer, drains move due to gravity. When choosing such products, external pressure is taken into account.

When installation is carried out, a possible slope of the pipeline is foreseen.

When laying a free-flow sewage system, products with a socket joint are used.

This article discusses in detail the features of such products as PVC pipes for sewage: the sizes and prices of plastic elements and additional components used to install the drainage system. In the text you can find the classification of pipes, their advantages and disadvantages, as well as an overview of the catalogs offered by hardware stores. This information can be used to select and purchase PVC products in order to perform a sewer installation.

Sewerage is constructed on the basis of pipes, which are an integral part of the system. During operation, these elements are subjected to static and dynamic loads, therefore, the choice of products should be approached thoroughly and attention should be paid to technical characteristics.

PVC products are widely used for the arrangement of both indoor and outdoor sewerage systems. Among other polymer products, they are considered the most popular and in demand. These cylindrical plastic products are made on the basis of polyvinyl chloride thermoplastic. This material has one advantageous property due to which PVC pipes acquire improved characteristics. The fact is that PVC thermoplastic retains its shape well after heat treatment and extrusion.

According to GOST 51613-2000, non-pressure PVC pipes for sewage are tested for impact strength according to the Charpy system. The maximum allowable number of elements that are subject to destruction should not exceed 10%.

Note! A slight change in the length of the elements after heating is allowed, but no more than 5%.

GOST also defines the standard sizes of plastic pipes for sewage, as well as maximum deviations from the parameters that are acceptable in high-quality products. Polyvinyl chloride contains two components - stabilized chlorine and ethylene. In order to improve performance, manufacturers add various additives to thermoplastic mixtures. As a result, under the influence of high pressure, a composite joint with a high margin of safety is obtained.

Why is it profitable to buy PVC pipes for sewage

Polymer products have many advantages. Manufacturers have endowed plastic pipes with light weight, while maintaining a fairly high level of strength. The cost is affordable for most buyers, so consumers prefer this type of product.

Advantageous performance is also a major benefit. The inner walls of polymer pipes have a smooth surface with a slight presence of longitudinal stripes and waviness, so the likelihood of blockages caused by the accumulation of faecal fractions or build-ups is extremely low. Plastic is not subject to corrosion and is resistant to the influence of aggressive media.

For the construction of a pressure sewage system, PVC pipes are ideal. Moreover, the installation of the system can be done with your own hands. This does not require the use of special equipment. A wide variety of sizes and mounting elements are available for sale, which greatly simplifies the design and installation of piping.

Frost resistance is inherent in products intended for laying external sewerage systems. The effective service life of pipes made on the basis of polymers exceeds 50 years. If you strictly follow the requirements of the installation technology, the sewer line will not be displaced. Docking nodes often diverge when the groundwater level changes. But if there were no violations during the installation process, even in such conditions, the system of polymer pipes remains sealed.

Important! Under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, the performance of pipes is reduced. Therefore, it is not recommended to store the products in places where they will be exposed to direct sunlight.

Types of plumbing pipes and PVC adapters for sewage

The range of plastic products is very wide, thanks to which consumers can buy plastic pipes for sewerage of any modifications and purposes. Taking into account the purpose and operating conditions, three categories of elements for the construction of the highway can be distinguished.

All of them are in full compliance with the main standard sizes. Products with lightweight construction (SN-2) are used for laying sewage in the area of the pedestrian sidewalk. The scope of their application extends to recreation areas with green spaces, as well as areas that are not subject to traffic loads.

Pipes with average parameters (SN-4) are laid in areas where there is little traffic. Heavy-duty pipes (SN-8) are provided especially for industrial areas. These products are suitable for organizing the sewerage system in places with high traffic.

In addition to straight pipes for the construction of sewerage, connecting elements are used. With their help, you can organize turns of the line (fittings equipped with a rubber seal). Also, on their basis, connections between the toilet bowl and the sewer from plastic pipes or joints between other elements are formed.

The following types of adapters are on sale:

  • couplings for network repair service;
  • reductions connecting elements with differences in section size;
  • tees and crosses for the formation of a wiring of several pipes;
  • rotary bends;
  • expansion joints for repair work.

In addition, in stores you can buy plastic sewer hatches to carry out an audit. These elements are also used to service the system when blockages occur.

PVC pipes for sewage: sizes and prices for products

The most demanded diameter of PVC sewer pipes is 110 mm. Such products are lightweight and do not cause difficulties during installation. Pipes intended for the construction of an outdoor system can have a two-, one- and three-layer structure. The outer layer is made of non-plasticized PVC. In three-layer products, the inner layers are made of a foam material having a porous structure. It is a recyclable product.

The connection of the pipe walls is carried out simultaneously using the "hot" technology. The result is a cylindrical product with a monolithic structure. Due to the cavities that are formed between the walls, it is possible to reduce the weight of the pipe.

Classification of products according to the class of ring stiffness:

  1. L - lightweight products that are laid to a depth of 80-200 cm.
  2. N - pipes of medium stiffness, intended for installation at a depth of 2-6 m.
  3. S - rigid products with a large wall thickness that can withstand loads at a depth of 8 m.

Helpful advice! For the organization of the outdoor system, it is recommended to use double-layer pipes with a corrugated structure. Due to the presence of stiffening ribs on the outside, the strength of the products increases.

Ring stiffness is marked with the abbreviation SN. The technical parameters of pressure pipes and elements for systems where wastewater is transported by gravity are completely different. In each of the cases, the sewage system is subjected to different loads: pressure pressure or the influence of gravity. For this reason, the prices of plastic sewer pipes of a pressure type are much higher than that of elements for gravity systems.

The pressure pipes are available in three variations to cope with pressure effects of 10, 6 and 12.5 kg per cm².

Sizes and prices of plastic pipes for sewage: external system

For the construction of external and internal sewerage systems, products of different sections are used.

Typical dimensions of the diameter of plastic pipes for sewage:

  • 110 mm - the minimum cross-sectional size for pipes for outdoor use, used to drain wastewater in summer cottages;
  • 315 mm - products with this section are intended for the construction of a common sewage system serving several houses;
  • 630 mm - pipes with a maximum cross-sectional size for the construction of a highway capable of serving a small village.

In addition, to work with an external system, you will need to buy a hose for pumping out the sewage system, made of polyvinyl chloride.

Fecal hose prices:

Pipes for outdoor sewerage are made in orange color, so they cannot be confused with other product options. Cylindrical elements can be of different lengths. The most popular lengths are 0.5, 1 and 2 m. There are other variations, for example, 3 m and 6 m. Some manufacturers have an extended range of sizes. They offer individual elements 12 cm in length.

Price of PVC sewer pipes for internal sewerage

The pipes for the arrangement of the internal bend system are gray. They have a low price, since these products are characterized by a light class of stiffness and are completely unsuitable for outdoor work. The most popular PVC pipes for sewage are 50 mm in diameter. Although there are other cross-sectional sizes on sale - 32, 40 and 110 mm.

The inner walls of the gray pipes are smooth. The elements are connected to each other using the "socket" technology. The length varies from 25 cm to 3 m, although there are also non-standard sizes.

Note! The branch connecting the plumbing to the vertical pipe must match the diameter of the riser. The use of a smaller section is not allowed.

For the construction of a drainage system in a bathroom, it is recommended to use pipes with a cross section of 75 mm. They are suitable for connecting a shower stall, bidet and washbasin to a public drain. They are characterized by a fairly high throughput.

For domestic drains, products with a diameter of 50 mm will be enough. They are lightweight, flexible and resistant to high temperatures (hot water) and chemicals (in case of chemical cleaning of the system). To connect the toilet, it is better to take products with a section size of 100-110 mm. They will withstand strong pressure, because they are especially resistant.

PVC drainage fittings catalog and product prices

The fittings are used in systems where the drain temperature does not exceed 80ºC. The products also withstand short-term drainage of waste fluid at temperatures up to 95ºC.

In this case, sinks means:

  1. Dirty toilet water.
  2. Waste liquid from the shower stall and sink.
  3. Chemical compositions with a pH range of 2-12.

For internal sewerage, the following details are used:

  • couplings (with an emphasis, full bore for repair);
  • reduction;
  • revisions with a cover;
  • tees (with an angle of 90, 67, 45º);
  • two-plane crosses (with an angle of 90 and 45º);

Recommendations for installing sewage from plastic pipes with your own hands

The sewage system in older buildings was mainly made of cast iron. Despite the practicality of this material, sooner or later it will need to be replaced. For the construction of modern risers, more durable and lightweight materials are used.

Helpful advice! When replacing the piping, it is possible to organize ventilation, which was not available in the old type systems. Thus, it will be possible to eliminate unpleasant sewer odors that can penetrate the room.

Experts even recommend to abandon the use of galvanized and, which period is no more than 10 years, and give preference to polyvinyl chloride or polypropylene products. The shelf life of polymer elements is 30-50 years.

To dismantle the old sewage system, you will need the following tools:

  • large screwdrivers to get small parts out of the system;
  • grinders with a disc for metal;
  • plastic wrap to cover the pipe opening at the cut;
  • nail puller and chisels;
  • personal protective equipment (glasses, gloves, apron);
  • hammer and puncher;
  • scrap and grinder.

How to make the transition from a cast iron pipe to a plastic sewer: dismantling the old system

First you need to mark the necessary indents. The first mark is placed at a distance of 10 cm from the ceiling level, and the second at a distance of 80 cm from the tee. In the marked areas, it is necessary to make cuts with the help of a grinder, with a depth of half the pipe section. Attach a chisel to the upper cut and hit with a hammer.

A similar procedure must be performed from below. To hit with a hammer, you need to apply force so that the cast iron pipe breaks, and you can remove its middle part.
The section of pipe coming from the ceiling must be closed with plastic wrap.

The lower part of the system consists of a tee and other connecting elements. To dismantle it, you will need a crowbar or a nail puller. These tools are necessary in order to loosen the fixation zones. When this is done, you can delete. In some cases, you cannot do without the use of a puncher. It allows you to remove the cement that holds the attachments.

It is allowed to use a screwdriver or chisel, with which you can chip off the cement. After that, the tee is removed. If this procedure fails, you can use a grinder equipped with a disc designed for working with metal surfaces to cut the fitting. In this case, you should step back from the socket by about 3 cm. After dismantling the connections, carefully clean the areas of their placement from dirt, and then treat the surface with a grinder.

Helpful advice! Before starting work, it is imperative to notify the neighbors, since during the replacement of the pipeline, you cannot use the toilet and bathroom. Otherwise, water from the upper floors will pour into the room and flood the neighbors below. For the same reason, all work must be carried out as quickly as possible.

Installation instructions for sewage from plastic pipes

To complete the installation work, you will need the following tools and materials:

  • pipes with a cross-sectional area of 110 mm;
  • outlet tee;
  • rubber cuffs designed to seal and fix fasteners between the PVC pipe and the scraps of the cast iron system;
  • a branch pipe that provides a transition from a cast-iron pipe to a plastic one and vice versa;
  • pipe fittings;
  • soap to be used as a lubricant to facilitate mounting the mounts;
  • vertical building level.

The process of installing plastic pipes is carried out in the same way, only in reverse order. Rubber sealing collars must be inserted into the sections of the cast iron pipes. The adapter is installed from above, from below you need to install the tee. The fixation of all elements must be as tight as possible in order to ensure the tightness of the sewer system. If the tee in the joint runs freely, it can be sealed with linen or silicone based sealant.

Every owner wants everything to work in his household, nothing breaks, it is easy to maintain and install. And sewage is no exception. It is necessary that it requires as little attention as possible - it is very inconvenient if it clogs up, but it is no less unpleasant to clean it. If you want to have a trouble-free drainage system, pay attention to plastic pipes for sewage. They are gradually replacing cast iron, and all because they cost less, are easier to assemble, have a large assortment - different diameters and lengths, almost no deposits form on their smooth walls, and even the service life is about 50 years. All this bouquet of properties determines their popularity.

Types of plastic sewer pipes

  • polyethylene (PE):
    • high pressure (HPP) - for internal sewerage wiring;
    • low pressure (HDPE) - it is possible to lay outside, in trenches (have great strength);
  • polyvinyl chloride (PVC);
  • polypropylene (PP)

And a number of other thermoplastics and their combinations, but they are rare - people prefer to use already known materials.

The material of the plastic sewer pipes is selected depending on the area of application. For example, polypropylene is more suitable for laying sewage inside a house or in an apartment. It has a higher operating temperature range - it normally tolerates media up to 70 ° C, for a short time - up to 95 ° C. In the presence of various household appliances that drain hot waste water into the sewer, this will not be superfluous. PVC pipes, which have lower prices, are more appropriate when laying an external sewage system - there are usually already mixed drains, so the temperatures are lower and PVC can take them out without harm (working up to + 40 ° C, short-term increase up to 60 ° C).

Also, sewer pipes are smooth and corrugated. Moreover, not only the branches from the siphons can be corrugated. There are profiled pipes for sewerage with a smooth inner wall and an outer ribbed one. They have greater strength - they better tolerate compressive loads (have increased ring stiffness), and can be buried at great depths. Available in diameters from 110 mm to 1200 mm.

Dimensions and diameters

Sewer plastic pipes, unlike water and gas pipes, are produced in the form of segments, 50 cm long, 100 cm, 200 cm, etc. - up to 600 cm. The maximum length is 12 meters, but some manufacturers can make longer sections on request. When laying long routes, this is convenient - fewer connections, fewer possible places for problems (leaks or blockages).

Another important characteristics of plastic pipes are diameter and wall thickness. In the marking, they usually go side by side: there are numbers 160 * 4.2. What stands for: the outer diameter of the pipe is 160 mm, the wall thickness is 4.2 mm. It is worth remembering that manufacturers indicate the outer diameter of plastic pipes, and many calculations and planning require knowing the inner diameter. It is easy to calculate: we subtract twice the wall thickness from the outer one: 160 mm - 4.2 mm * 2 = 151.6 mm. In calculations and tables, a rounded result usually appears - in this case - 150 mm.

In general, the industry produces plastic pipes for sewerage with a diameter of 25 mm. The maximum cross-section depends on the type of pipe (smooth or corrugated) and the material from which it is made. For example, smooth PVC sewer pipes can be up to 630 mm in diameter, and profiled two-layer pipes - up to 1200 mm. But these dimensions are useless for homeowners or apartment dwellers. In private housing construction, diameters up to 100-110 mm are mainly used, rarely up to 160 mm. Sometimes, for a large cottage with a large number of plumbing fixtures, a pipe 200-250 mm in diameter may be needed.

How to choose a diameter for connecting plumbing fixtures

According to the rules, it is necessary to make a calculation, it is fully spelled out in SNiP 2.04.01085. This is a complex matter, a lot of data is required, so few people really think it right. Over the years, the practice has made it possible to derive the average diameters of polyethylene sewer pipes for each of the plumbing fixtures. You can safely use these developments - all calculations usually come down to precisely these dimensions.

Name of the plumbing fixtureDiameter of plastic sewer pipeSlopeDistance between central drain and siphon
Bath40 mm1:30 100-130 cm
Shower40 mm1:48 150-170 cm
Toilet bowl100 mm1:20 up to 600 cm
Sink40 mm1:12 from 0 to 80 cm
Bidet30-40 mm1:20 70-100 cm
Kitchen sink30-40 mm1:36 130-150 cm
Combined drain - bath, sink, shower50 mm1:48 170-230 cm
Central riser100-110 mm
Outlets from the central riser65-75 cm

As you can see, plastic pipes for sewage with a diameter of 30-40 mm are mainly used. Only for the toilet a much larger size is needed - 100-110 mm. This is due to the peculiarity of functioning - it is necessary to drain a large amount of water in a short period of time. In this case, there should be room for air in the pipe, otherwise it will rip off the water locks on other plumbing and the "aromas" from the sewage system will enter the room.

When making a device, you need to remember a few more rules:

We must also not forget about the insulation or heating of the sewer outlet in a private house. The vertical section that goes from the outlet to the entrance to the trench must be well insulated. Additionally, they are often used. In the case of sewers, they are usually laid outside, then covered with heat-insulating material.

That's all, it seems. The rules are simple, but if you follow them, everything will work for a long time and trouble-free.

Features of the installation of plastic sewer pipes

Plastic pipes for sewage on one side end with a socket, into which a sealing rubber is inserted. The segments are connected simply: an even edge is inserted into the socket. Since the dimensions are strictly normalized, this, in principle, is sufficient for a tight connection. In practice, the O-ring is often additionally coated with a silicone plumbing sealant.

When installing sewer plastic pipes, at times they have to be cut. It is convenient to do it with a hand saw with a metal blade - small teeth cut well and leave an almost even edge. You can also use a grinder or jigsaw. In any case, before installing the trimmed piece, its edge must be processed with fine-grain sandpaper - remove any burrs, make it even. A piece of waste can catch on the protruding pieces, As a result, a blockage may form in this place. Therefore, we carefully smooth out the saw cut.

When creating a sewer network in a house or apartment, it is often necessary to make a branch. For this, there are fittings - adapters from one diameter to another, tees, corners with different degrees of rotation, etc.

In the last decade, plastic pipes for sewage have become ubiquitous. The reason for their popularity lies in the presence of the advantages of these products with a small number of disadvantages.

Advantages of plastic sewer pipes

Among the advantages of plastic products, it should be noted:
  • low weight - for this reason, it is easy to create a sewer system using such pipes, since, if necessary, they can be easily moved, transported over long distances. Even a pipe 2 meters long can be assembled by one person, he obviously cannot cope with a cast-iron product;
  • ease of installation - plastic is cut without problems and is easily connected;
  • durability - plastic products for sewage are resistant to aggressive environments, corrosion, high degree of humidity, so they can last for a long time. The manufacturers of these products usually give them a 50-year warranty. As practice has shown, the service life of sewer plastic pipes is much longer;
  • resistance to blockages - the fact is that their inner surface has almost no roughness, so dirt is deposited on it slowly. As a result, blockages are rare. After the installation is completed, cleaning will not be required soon;
  • immunity to temperature changes - there are plastic pipes for outdoor sewage on sale that withstand frosty weather well.
Disadvantages of plastic sewer pipes:
  • noisy operation - the sewer system made of plastic products makes noise during operation. This negative point is especially clearly manifested in apartment buildings, where drainage outlets from several apartments are connected to one riser;
  • intolerance to high temperatures - the operating temperature of these products is from 40 to 90 degrees. In the case when the temperature of the drains exceeds these parameters, most types of plastic pipes soften. This disadvantage is not considered significant, since the temperature of the waste water is not so high.

Types of plastic for sewer pipes

Types of plastic pipes for sewage differ in the material of manufacture.

Polyethylene has the following features:
  • resistance to active chemicals;
  • immunity to low temperatures (if they decrease, polyethylene does not lose its physical properties, while the presence of an ice plug will only stretch the product, and after the ice melts, the pipe takes on its original size);
  • the presence of a slippery surface - nothing sticks to it;
  • this material softens at low temperatures (even the most durable products become soft at +80 degrees);
  • working pressure equal to 2.5 - 16 atmospheres.
Polyvinyl chloride is considered the most popular plastic used for the arrangement of sewage systems, since PVC is characterized by:
  • resistant to alkaline media, most acids and mineral oils;
  • depending on the brand of products with a density of 1.35 to 1.43 g / cm³;
  • fire resistance (polyvinyl chloride begins to decompose at a temperature of 120 degrees, while releasing hydrogen chloride);
  • poor electrical conductivity;
  • stiffness and elasticity, but impact can damage PVC;
  • deformation at a temperature of more than +70 degrees;
  • working pressure 6 - 46 atmospheres.
Polypropylene is usually used to create a plumbing pressure system.

But there are also sewer pipes on sale made of this material, which is different:

  • low weight - it is lighter than other types of plastics;
  • density equal to 0, 91 g / cm³;
  • abrasion resistance (polypropylene pipes are able to withstand drains with abrasive fractions);
  • softening temperature, which is 140 degrees above zero, melting - 180 degrees;
  • susceptibility to prolonged exposure to highly concentrated acids;
  • the ability to collapse at temperatures less than 5 degrees of frost, so the ice plug will destroy the system;
  • working pressure of about 20 atmospheres;
  • welding method of connection.

Metal-polymer products (PEX-pipes). These products are characterized by strength and durability. This material is three-layer: polyethylene - aluminum - polyethylene. Due to the presence of a metal layer, the strength of the pipes is increased.

This material has the following features:

  • working temperature is from +40 to + 95 degrees;
  • just cuts and bends;
  • has high heat-reflecting and anti-corrosion parameters;
  • the diameter of plastic sewer pipes of this type is 16-63 millimeters and therefore they are usually used when installing an internal sewer system.

The choice of plastic pipes for sewage

Since the sewer system is internal and external, when sewer pipes are made - different plastic is used for them.
The choice depends on the requirements for waste disposal.

The external version of the sewer network is characterized by the following indicators:

  • high strength, since soil pressure will be exerted on the structure;
  • its throughput must ensure the timely discharge of wastewater;
  • resistance to corrosion and temperature changes;
  • reliability of connection of individual elements.
Other requirements are imposed on pipes for internal sewerage, since more gentle loads are placed on the pipeline in the network, the air temperature does not drop below zero, and the amount of wastewater from individual plumbing fixtures is less.

When pipes are selected, their parameters are taken into account:

  • the inner diameter of plastic pipes for sewage is considered one of the most important characteristics, due to which the unhindered drainage of wastewater at a certain point in the system is ensured;
  • external diameter;
  • wall thickness (affects the strength of the pipe);
  • type of plastic.
Also, when choosing plastic sewer pipes - their dimensions are of great importance, this primarily concerns the length. Correctly purchased elements are the key to high-quality operation of the sewer system and its convenient installation.

Stiffness of the plastic pipe

Such parameter of plastic pipes as strength is different for internal and external systems.

In order to distinguish them, manufacturers paint products in different colors (see photo):

  • in light brown - pipes for arranging internal sewage;
  • in orange-brown - for an external network.
Sewer plastic pipes differ according to the stiffness class:
  • SN 2 - products are intended for laying a pipeline in areas where the movement of vehicles is absent or limited;
  • SN 4 - products are used in areas with constant moderate vehicle traffic;
  • SN 8 - this class of products is used in areas with intensive movement of heavy and light vehicles.

Dimensions and diameter of plastic sewer pipes

Sewer pipe manufacturers must indicate their outer diameter and wall thickness. Plumbing professionals need to know the inner diameter for installation work. To determine it, the wall thickness is subtracted from the outer diameter.

Sewerage plastic pipes have different sizes depending on their purpose.

Features of installation and operation

  1. Since plastic is a lightweight and thin material, it cannot absorb vibration and acoustic vibrations. This problem is solved by placing the pipeline in a special box or foam shell.
  2. When connecting a pipe to a socket, chamfer from the outside and clean out the burrs from the inside. If this is not done, a blockage will form in places where there are irregularities in the pipeline.
  3. When joining system elements, you need to use a lubricant - for example, glycerin, grease.
  4. To fix plastic pipes at a certain angle of inclination, plastic latches and clamps are used.
  5. The neck of each of the pipes is fixed with a clamp, especially when installing the expansion pipe, since the O-rings will obviously not be enough.
  6. Suspensions and clamps should be located on horizontal sections of the network every 50 centimeters.
  7. The external pipeline is buried under dirt roads by more than 50 centimeters or hidden in a reinforced concrete box.
  8. With an increased load on the ground, a corrugated plastic sewer pipe is used.

They clean plastic pipes with a plumbing cable with a rubber tip or, if a blockage occurs, disassemble a section of the pipeline.

Until now, not all users understand the difference between the designations of pipe diameters.

  1. D is the outer diameter of the pipe. This size is required for the selection of sockets, couplings, angles, threaded connections and other mounting and connecting plumbing fittings. It is he who is indicated on the marking, he will be blown away by him while compiling the list of elements of the sewer system.
  2. d is the inner diameter of the pipe. The dimensions of the internal shut-off automatic and semi-automatic valves are tied to it, the speed of movement of liquid flows is calculated. The wall thickness of the sewer pipes is determined by the difference between the outer and inner diameters. The inner diameter can be calculated using the formula d = D - 2S. S is the wall thickness.
  3. D y - conditional passage. The value is used mainly by specialists, for ordinary consumers this parameter is not decisive, many have not heard of it at all.
