Test procedure for internal fire-fighting water supply and operating rules

Inspection of the fire water supply system is carried out in accordance with safety requirements. At the moment, the maintenance of the fire-fighting water supply system involves an inspection twice a year. The main goal is to check the health of the water supply system and fire hydrants for readiness for a fire. The importance of the proper functioning of the fire water supply system lies in the ability to timely eliminate or slow down the spread of fire centers before the arrival of firefighters and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

To ensure proper fire safety of the building, a fire water supply system is being designed, moreover, even at the design stage of the building itself. The difference between a fire water supply system and a conventional one is in a higher water pressure (at least 2.5 m / s). In this regard, it seems important to conduct regular inspections of fire water supply systems.

The systems of both the fire water supply and the household are equipped with special fire-fighting devices. This is due to the fact that a number of modern water supply materials are capable of deforming under the influence of high temperatures. Therefore, fire-prevention couplings for the water supply are now regularly used, which are not only able to prevent deformation, but also prevent the spread of fire (in cases where PVC material is used).

It should be noted that the fire water supply system has a security zone, which is allocated as many meters as the meters of the security zone of a conventional water pipe. From the foundation of the object to the network, it is 5 meters, from the foundation of the fence of the enterprise to the water supply system - 3 meters.

Testing equipment

Equipment that measures pressure, temperature and orifice diameter is used for testing. As a rule, it is enough to limit yourself to pressure gauges (for measuring temperature), thermometers (measuring range should be 0 to 50 ° C), vernier calipers or measuring plugs. These devices should be close to the fire water supply system, as they allow the maintenance of the fire water supply system in accordance with the established requirements.

To measure pressure with a pressure gauge, a measuring insert equipped with coupling heads is used. This insert is placed between the fire hose and the valve or between the fire barrel and the hose. After placing the insert, a pressure gauge is installed on it; it is permissible to connect it to it with a hose, but not exceeding one meter in length.

Purpose and conditions of the test

The fire water supply system is being tested for water loss in order to check the pressure on the dictating tap and the subject of compliance with the standards. In this case, the test of the internal fire water supply system should be carried out at temperatures above 5 ° С, as a rule, in autumn and spring.

An important point in testing is the minimum pressure level in the internal water supply.

It seems reasonable to conduct a fire check at the time of the day when the maximum water consumption in the internal water supply system is reached. When the fluid loss test is carried out, the pressure of the dictating fire valve is taken as the fluid loss parameter. Initially, the most distant from the riser and the highest located fire hydrants are checked. In this case, the pressure is measured either at the dictating valve, or at the highest-located valve.

Testing

After completing the preliminary procedures, the test procedure for the internal fire-fighting water supply system is as follows. First of all, the initial data is recorded in the journal in tabular form. Further, in the fire cabinet, the sleeve is disconnected from the valve. In the case of a diaphragm, its dimensions are checked for compliance with regulatory indicators. If it is absent (or after measuring the diaphragm), a measuring device is connected to the valve or fire nozzle.

Then the test of the internal fire-fighting water supply is carried out by connecting the fire hose to the measuring device. It is important to note that a number of fire nozzles are overlapping. In this case, make sure that the barrel valve is in the open position.

After connecting the measuring devices, the fire hose is located in the place where the water supply is supposed to be carried out during the fire tests. In this case, the test area should be located within one floor, the sleeve itself should not be bent. One of the testers is at the fire cabinet and regulates the fire hydrant. The second tester should keep an eye on the fire barrel, holding it in position if necessary.

The actual pressure measurement is carried out only at steady-state pressure. You can calculate the fire water supply during the test. This will allow you to establish indicators of water consumption, flow rate. Upon completion of the test section, the measured readings are entered into the test log, the equipment is disconnected, the fire hose is connected to the valve (or to a manual fire nozzle), the fire cabinet is closed.

When the test of the fire water supply system is completed, the place of the dictating tap is indicated in the reporting documentation (it should also be indicated in the project documentation).

The order of actions after the check includes the drawing up of acts and test reports, technical cards for fire hydrants. The test report contains the date, time and place of the inspection, the name of the building, the number of risers, fire hydrants, the type of valve, the length of the fire hose, as well as the pressure and flow rates of the dictating fire hydrant.
