Firehose. Rolling and rewinding of fire hoses. Pressure fire hoses

Every adult is afraid of a fire, because he can not only destroy property, but also take life. Naturally, if such a natural disaster occurs, you must immediately call the rescue service. They have a special technique that allows them to quickly pacify the fire. For example, a fire hose is long enough to be used with high-rise buildings or if the water source is far away.

What is the product? Sleeve structure

The presented product is a flexible pipeline on which the connecting heads are located. It serves to supply liquid to the place of fire. Naturally, the fire hose must always be in good condition. There is a responsibility for this, which bears the head of the unit.

It should be noted that the fire hose comes in different types and sizes. However, its structure is practically the same, multi-layered. It consists of several rubber and textile layers as well as a wire spiral. The best are synthetic products, which are highly resistant to wear and tear and can last much longer than others. Modern materials for the manufacture of hoses can increase their service life and efficiency.

Types and sizes of the pipeline

There are several types of products presented:

1. Suction... They serve to supply water from the source to the branch pipe. An important feature of this species is the ability to work with an open reservoir. The diameter of this type of fire hose ranges from 75 to 200 mm. The maximum length is 4 meters.

2. Pressure... It is thanks to them that water enters the fire site. Pressure fire hoses ensure the discharge of water over sufficiently long distances. A feature of the product is the ability to operate it in a wide temperature range: from -40 to +400 degrees. It is resistant to wear and tear, so it can serve for a long time. The diameter of such a hose ranges from 51 to 150 mm.

3.Pressure-suction. They combine the properties of the two previous types.

Features of using the product

The fire hose is used in compliance with certain requirements:

It must be dry, clean, properly folded.

During operation, do not lay it on sharp objects, near a fire, with sharp bends. Also, try not to clutter up the flights of stairs. If the hose is on the road, try not to get on the road. As a last resort, use sleeve bridges. If the hose must be routed across a railroad, then it must be done under the rails and between the sleepers.

When using the suction hose, lay it down so that it will not become clogged with sand or debris. An unloading rope should be used to relieve hydraulic stress.

If you use pressure fire hoses, do not turn the valves through which water enters too sharply. Failure to do so may result in hydraulic hose rupture.

In winter, the water is completely drained from the hoses, otherwise it will simply freeze inside and damage the product.

If in the process of work a leak is found in the sleeve, then manual clamps must be used to temporarily eliminate it. After extinguishing, they are removed, and the damaged area is marked with a chemical pencil.

Rewind features

Rolling fire hoses is a mandatory technical process that allows you to maintain the functionality of the product, maintain its performance characteristics, and detect damage. It is produced every six months or 3 months (for backup hoses).

A special coil is used for work. There are 2 ways to rewind: single and double. In the first case, the rolling of fire hoses is carried out on the upper or lower part of the coil along the entire length. In the second, everything is more complicated. The product is wound up to half on one part of the device, and from the middle on the other.

If the hose is corrugated, then it folds like an accordion. Fire hoses are also rolled after use. In this case, the product must be thoroughly dried (not on a battery, not in direct sunlight and not near an open flame).

Storage features

In order for the presented product to serve for a long time and effectively, it must be properly stored:

1. The hoses must be dry.

2. Be sure to protect them from UV rays. The fact is that the latter have a detrimental effect on the rubber layer.

3. Do not store sleeves near chemicals or alkalis, or near a heat source.

4. Products are stacked in parallel rows. The room temperature should be from -25 to +30 degrees.

5. Usually hoses are stored in racks in an upright position. Other items should not lie there.

6. On the lower shelves, large diameter hoses are folded.

7. New hoses are stored in separate rooms. Naturally, they also roll over from time to time.

Product repair

Hose rewinding is an important procedure during which holes or other defects can be identified. They must be eliminated without fail. Otherwise, the efficiency of the hose will decrease several times.

There are several ways to repair:

By sticking a patch. It must be applied from the outside. Naturally, first, the damaged area should be cleaned and degreased. In some cases, the sleeve has to be cut.

With cold rubber vulcanization.

By gluing chlorinated cloth (pressure).

If the clamps are loosened, then it is necessary to tighten them with wrenches. The worn layer can be repaired with ring patches or tape patches. In this case, the glue is poured into a blind hole, a piece of rubber is applied and fixed at the edges, which need to be given special attention.

Please note that after repair, the hose should be tested no earlier than one day later. If it was not possible to repair the product, then it must be written off and replaced.
