Day of rocket troops and artillery in Russia. Missile Forces Day: congratulations. Day of Strategic Missile Forces Day of Russian Artillery

Every year our country celebrates the memorable day of the Armed Forces of Russia - Day of Rocket Forces and Artillery, according to Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 549 of 2006 "On the establishment of professional holidays and memorable days in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation."

The Day of Rocket Forces and Artillery is celebrated to commemorate the merits of artillery in the defeat of the Nazi invaders near Stalingrad, the first stage of which began with the counteroffensive of the Soviet troops on November 19, 1942. Artillery played a key role in this counteroffensive.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of 1944, the merits of artillerymen were marked by the establishment of a holiday - Artillery Day. In 1964, the holiday was renamed the Day of Rocket Forces and Artillery.

Artillery is considered one of the oldest branches of the military. The first information about Russian artillery dates back to 1382, when, during the defense of Moscow from the troops of Khan Tokhtamysh, Muscovites used "mattresses" and "great guns" - the first artillery pieces - against the besiegers. In the 16th century, artillery separated into an independent branch of the army, whose tasks included ensuring the actions of infantry and cavalry in battle, and at the beginning of the 18th century it was divided into field (including regimental), siege and fortress. A century later, artillery regiments and brigades began to form.

Russian artillery confirmed its strength and high fighting qualities at all times - in the battles of Russian princes, in the Battle of Poltava, during the capture of Izmail, in the Battle of Borodino, in the Russian-Japanese and on the fronts of the First and Second World Wars, always making a decisive contribution to the achievement of a common victory.

And today, missile troops and artillery are one of the branches of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, which is the main means of fire and nuclear destruction of the enemy in the course of conducting combined arms operations (combat actions). Organizationally, they consist of rocket, rocket, artillery brigades, including mixed artillery battalions of high power, rocket artillery regiments, separate reconnaissance divisions, as well as artillery of combined arms brigades and military bases. Units and subunits of the missile forces and artillery are organizationally included in other types and types of troops of the Russian Armed Forces and other "power" structures.

The main tasks of the rocket troops and artillery are: to gain and maintain fire superiority over the enemy; defeat of its means of nuclear attack, manpower, weapons, military and special equipment; disorganization of command and control systems for troops and weapons, reconnaissance and electronic warfare; destruction of long-term defensive structures and other infrastructure facilities of the enemy; covering open flanks and joints; participation in the destruction of air and sea landings of the enemy and others.

In peacetime, rocket troops and artillery stand guard over the Fatherland and protect the borders of their native country. And on their professional holiday, these soldiers have the opportunity to attract the attention of all of Russia. Celebrating their day, they arrange demonstration exercises, shootings and parades.

Congratulations on the Day of the Rocket Forces!
I only wish you the best.
Not to know attacks and defeats,
More personal achievements.

Awards, medals, orders,
Peaceful days and dreams.
May your sky be clear
And the look is cheerful and radiant.

And in my personal life, let everything be -
Wife, family, relatives,
Car, cottage and apartment.
I wish you happiness and peace!

November 19 is celebrated annually on the basis of the decree of the President of the Russian Federation of May 31, 2006 "On the establishment of professional holidays and memorable days in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation" as a memorable day established in recognition of the merits of military specialists in solving the problems of ensuring the defense and security of the state and called contribute to the revival and development of domestic military traditions, to enhance the prestige of military service.

It was the artillery that at the beginning of the operation with a powerful fire strike inflicted heavy losses on the enemy and disrupted the entire defense system, which allowed the Soviet troops, avoiding significant losses, to launch a counteroffensive, which ended with the encirclement and defeat of the enemy near Stalingrad.

In the post-war period, artillery continued to develop - new, more modern and powerful weapons were developed.

In 1961, on the basis of artillery and the missile formations available at that time in the Ground Forces,

Rocket troops and artillery, as a branch of the Armed Forces of the USSR.

Therefore, in 1964, the Artillery Day holiday was on the Day of the Rocket Forces and Artillery. Since 1988, it has been celebrated on the third Sunday of November, and since 2006, again on November 19.

Today, the Rocket Forces and Artillery is a branch of the Ground Forces, which is the main means of fire and nuclear destruction of the enemy in the course of combined arms operations (combat actions). They are designed to gain and maintain fire superiority over the enemy; destruction of its means of nuclear attack, manpower, weapons, military and special equipment; disorganization of command and control systems for troops and weapons, reconnaissance and electronic warfare; destruction of long-term defensive structures and other infrastructure facilities; violations of the operation of the operational and military rear; weakening and isolating the enemy's second echelons and reserves; destruction of tanks and other armored vehicles of the enemy that have broken through into the depths of the defense; covering open flanks and joints; participation in the destruction of enemy air and sea landings; remote mining of terrain and objects; lighting support for night operations of troops; smoke, blinding enemy objects; distribution of campaign materials and other tasks.

Organizationally, the Rocket Forces and Artillery consist of rocket, rocket, and artillery brigades, including mixed artillery battalions of high power, rocket artillery regiments, separate reconnaissance battalions, as well as artillery from combined arms brigades and military bases.

Thanks to intensive re-equipment with the latest and advanced types of weapons, an increase in the intensity of combat training and an integrated approach to personnel training, the Rocket Forces and Artillery continue to increase combat capabilities and determine the vector of development of the Ground Forces for the future.

Artillery is one of the oldest branches of the military. The first information about the appearance of artillery in Rus' dates back to 1382. It was then that when defending Moscow from the troops of Khan Tokhtamysh, Muscovites used against the besiegers the first artillery guns - "mattresses" (guns that fired "shot" - pieces of iron, rubble, small stones) and "great guns".

In the 16th century, artillery stood out as an independent branch of the armed forces, capable of ensuring the actions of infantry and cavalry in battle, and until the end of the 17th century it was served by gunners and squeakers. At the beginning of the 18th century, artillery was divided into field (including regimental), siege and fortress artillery. At the end of the 18th century, horse artillery finally took shape, and at the beginning of the 19th century, artillery regiments and brigades began to form. Mountain artillery appeared in the 1840s.

In the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905, Russian gunners first used indirect fire; then mortars appeared. By the beginning of the First World War (1914-1918), artillery was subdivided into field (light, horse, mountain), field heavy and heavy (siege). During the war, anti-aircraft and self-propelled artillery was born, and a little later - anti-tank.

In accordance with the action plan of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, a set of measures is being carried out aimed at qualitatively improving the structure, combat strength and strength of the Rocket Forces and Artillery.

This memorable day allows you to honor the soldiers, sergeants and officers of the "god of war" - artillery. Realities have made adjustments, and we are celebrating the day of rocket troops and artillery. But the "god of war" remains so.

The holiday was born in the difficult period of the Great Patriotic War. Powerful artillery preparation broke the resistance of the Germans near Stalingrad and allowed our troops to completely destroy the enemy. This happened November 19 1942, and already in 1944, Artillery Day was officially celebrated on this day.

Artillerymen serve in one of the oldest military branches. For the first time, artillery was used by Russian troops in the defense of Moscow from the Tatars in 1382. For a long time in our country, guns were used mainly to protect cities.

Ivan the Terrible began to use artillery as an offensive weapon in all campaigns. Under him, artillery made a breakthrough in its development. Peter I, the great reformer not only of the country, but also of the army, creates the first bombardment company. It was not an independent unit, but was part of the Preobrazhensky Regiment. During this period, the banner of artillery was approved.

The use of artillery at the right moment changed the course of battles and battles more than once. During the Great Patriotic War, artillery was called the "god of war". Just before the start of the war, the serial production of the famous Katyushas began. In the summer of 1941, our "girls" showed the Germans the character of the Russian "god of war". The effectiveness of the Katyushas was amazing, at that time there was not only no protection against rocket launchers, but the enemy could not respond with anything like that.

In the post-war period, the development of missile technologies is underway and, as a result, units are being formed that were armed with missile weapons. During this period, a change appeared in the name of the holiday - the Day of Missile Forces and Artillery. Until recently, the holiday was celebrated on the third Sunday of November. Now again the old historical date - November 19.

As a branch of the ground forces, rocket troops and artillery not only have separate units and formations, but also units that are part of other branches of the military. The armament of the units consists of tactical and operational-tactical missiles, large-caliber artillery.

The composition of the actual artillery includes many units that differ in the weapons used: anti-tank, howitzer, mortar, artillery reconnaissance and others.

Artillery is called the "god of war" for a reason. Not a single major operation takes place without the use of rocket troops and artillery. The destruction of nuclear arsenals, concentrations of troops, air defense, command posts, this is not a complete list of the tasks facing this type of troops.

Units that are part of other branches of the military also solve smaller tasks: covering the crossing, clearing the bridgehead, supporting the landing force, and many others.

The gods of war are on guard every day, guarding our peace from any encroachment and threats.

history of the holiday

For the first time, Artillery Day was established by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on October 21, 1944. November 19 was chosen as a solemn day. In 1942, on this day, the strategic operation "Uranus" began, the purpose of which was the liberation of Stalingrad.

The powerful artillery preparation carried out became one of the turning points in the fight against fascist Germany.

“In modern warfare, artillery is God ... Whoever wants to rebuild in a new modern way must understand that artillery decides the fate of the war,” - I. V. Stalin.

In 1964, the artillery was renamed the Rocket Forces and Artillery. At the same time, he changed the name and holiday.

During the period of perestroika, the date lost its force, the day of artillerymen began to be celebrated on the third Sunday of November. The historical tradition was restored only in 2006.

A Brief History of Russian Artillery

The first mention of Russian (firearms) artillery comes at the end of the 14th century. In 1382, during the siege of Moscow by the troops of Khan Tokhtamysh, the townspeople used forged cannons for defense purposes.

During the reign of Peter I, artillery becomes an independent branch of the military. In the first half of the 18th century, troops were divided into 3 categories: field, fortress and siege. By the end of the century, an equestrian direction was formed.

In the 20th century there were victories and defeats. So during the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905), domestic artillerymen said their victory word. However, during the First World War (1914-1918), the protracted period of rearmament did not allow the use of Russian guns by 100% due to the “shell” hunger.

By the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the importance of the troops had increased, they had become indispensable on all fronts. New types of weapons appear. For example, combat vehicles of the BM series, which were equipped with rocket-propelled mortars, nicknamed "Katyusha", which became one of the symbols of the era.

Who is celebrating?

The Missile Forces and Artillery (R&A) include not only the combat crews of guns and howitzers, but also the crews of multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) and a number of other highly specialized military service specialists.

In addition, the rocket and artillery troops are armed with self-propelled guns, combat crews of towed artillery, mortars, anti-tank missile systems and much more.

Thus, any person whose service is associated with one of the listed types of weapons has the right to call himself an artilleryman and celebrate a professional holiday.
