Wallpapering uneven corners. How to glue wallpaper in internal and external corners? Required tools and materials

As a rule, one of the most difficult tasks of redecoration is wallpapering walls in hard to reach places(on external and internal corners, places where pipes pass, etc.). However, if you use special techniques and suitable materials, the question is how it will be removed. Let's look at several ways to glue wallpaper in corners. Let's start with a simple task - consider the technique of wallpapering even corners. And then we'll study various options working with uneven joints.

Smooth corners

Happy owners of quality overhaul, as a rule, do not have problems with distortions on the walls. Wallpapering an even joint is much simpler and does not require extra costs.

Internal and external (protruding) wall junctions are covered equally. Let's look at the whole process step by step.

First of all, you need to decide where to start. If thin paper strips are used that will overlap each other (usually up to 0.5 mm), then you should start from the window (so that the seams are not noticeable). If the wallpaper is denser, then it will be glued end to end. In the second case, you should start from the door.

Once you have decided on the direction, you can start taking measurements. It is necessary to note how many strips of wallpaper it will take to reach the nearest corner. The fact is that the final strip should lie evenly on the adjacent wall by about 2-5 cm. It is better to trim off the excess.

Using a plumb line or laser level You should mark a straight line perpendicular to the ceiling, and start gluing from there. This way, as you move towards the corner, the trellises will not shift (tilt).

Now you need to apply the next sheet, but starting next to the corner (no matter how even it may seem) is undesirable. For the same reason, an overlap of several centimeters is left on the adjacent wall. Otherwise, there is a high probability of holes and an unaesthetic appearance, which will be difficult to correct.

It is necessary to smooth out the glued panel at the junction of the walls very carefully. It’s not so bad if the edge of the strip, which goes around the corner, protrudes somewhere by 3 cm, and somewhere by all 5. It is much more important that at the junction of two walls the wallpaper fits tightly to the surface without creases, swelling and excess tension.

Advice! If you are too lazy to press the wallpaper tightly in the corners during repairs, then later the pleasure of picking holes in the sagging wallpaper will become a very exciting activity for the child.

The next strip of light paper or thin wallpaper on a non-woven basis can be glued on top of the previous one, focusing on a straight perpendicular line, passing as close as possible to the junction of the two walls. Before you start pasting new wall, you can trim off the excess if the edge of the spade is uneven, or leave the bottom layer as is.

Wallpaper that is glued end-to-end (that is, dense and does not stretch after being coated with glue) in the corner is processed using the following technology:

As in the case of paper wallpaper, there is already a small strip of width left after gluing the trellis on the adjacent wall. Apply glue to it, press it and carefully smooth out the entire corner.

On top of this strip - the spade - mount, focusing on the perpendicular line, a new wide strip. All that remains is to make an even joint (after all, the material is dense, possibly embossed, you cannot leave an overlap).

Along the perpendicular line, using a building rule or a fairly long ruler, you need to make a deep cut in the wallpaper from the ceiling to the floor. It should go through both layers, making a straight edge on each side. It is most convenient to do this with a very sharp stationery or construction knife (the second is preferable, since its blade does not bend so much).

Now you need to carefully remove all the excess trim, re-glue the edges of the opposing strips and straighten the joint. It should turn out perfectly smooth, at a distance of 1-2 cm from the corner.

Advice! You should not overlap or join the wallpaper directly in the corner. There will always be holes or cracks that will ruin a smooth edge. 1-2 cm from the corner - optimal distance, both for internal and external walls.

Several ways to straighten corners

Most often, both in old houses and in new buildings, there are walls with a slope. The meeting place of two such plates can surprise you with its shape. Unless it's wrapped in a spiral, and everything else is business as usual. In practice, 2 effective ways of working with uneven corners have been developed.

The first is preliminary preparation walls by leveling (more expensive, but better quality), the second - does not require extra costs, allows you to paste the wallpaper “as is”, while it does not hide the imperfections of the relief. Let's start with the first one.

If the room has rectangular shape, the junction of the two walls should be 90 degrees. If this angle changes somewhere, it means that crooked walls have come into contact. It's easy to check. It is enough to apply a square and draw it from floor to ceiling, assessing the places where the ruler does not touch the surface. If you fill these “voids”, the output will be a perfectly flat shape for pasting.

Let's start with method No. 1

You will need a spatula in the shape of an angle (90 degrees), putty (the more varied the relief of the walls, the more), construction rights And lo, plumb line or level. In the most protruding place of the corner, you need to apply a spatula and mark its location with a line. Along this line, perpendicular to the ceiling, fasten the building rule to the wall (with dowels or self-tapping screws). After moistening the surface with water, apply putty and, pressing the rule to the edge, move it several times with a spatula. The smooth joint is ready. All that remains is to remove excess putty, dry and process sandpaper.

Advice! If you don’t have a suitable spatula at hand, you can use an even and dense rectangle of wood.

Method No. 2

For it you will need a plaster corner (represents a mesh with an attached iron or plastic strip, bent at an angle of 90 degrees), putty or plaster. All you need is to place a plaster corner perpendicularly and evaluate the gaps. After moistening the surface, apply mortar, attach the profile, level the putty so as to hide the mesh. After drying and sanding, you can now wallpaper the corners. By the way, this method will help protect the joints from destruction.

Method No. 3

Line the walls (and corners accordingly) with sheets of plasterboard. This is the most expensive and effective method. If the walls do not have significant deformations, then the sheets of drywall can simply be glued, leveling them. This is one of the most simple ways, it’s more difficult to install sheets on metal carcass. This method allows not only to level the walls, but also to improve thermal insulation, but it reduces the area of the room.

Techniques for working with uneven corners

Using simple rules, you can tape the joints between walls with trellises without prior leveling.

Let's look at some of them:

  1. Choosing the right wallpaper pattern. If the corners in the room have significant deviations, it is worth purchasing wallpaper with a neutral coloring that does not require joining at the edges of the panel. It will be impossible to achieve a matching pattern, and a skewed pattern will ruin the whole impression.
  2. Selecting material based on texture. One of the few types of trellises that can stretch is non-woven wallpaper. By stretching during operation, elastic fabrics can effectively hide small depressions and bulges. In addition, they do not need to be pre-applied with glue, they do not get wet and do not tear. The strips are applied to the base dry, and the glue is applied to the walls first with a primer and only then with the base layer.
  3. We glue the uneven corner in two layers. A strip of wallpaper 10 cm wide (or more, depending on the nature of the terrain) can be glued to the corner before attaching the main trellises. If you have to make cuts in the outer layer, the bottom strip will fill the gap. In addition, it will strengthen the wallpaper in the corner from tearing in the future.
  4. Instead of a narrow strip of paper, the corner is often pre-glued with a painting mesh - this also hides small depressions and strengthens the strip of wallpaper in the corner.
  5. Notches for better fit. When gluing the spade (that part of the strip that goes from one wall to another, about 5 cm), it is worth making “herringbone” cuts in it. This way the trellises will lie more tightly to the surface. The new strip is aligned and overlapped or both layers are cut to form a joint. This way, gluing wallpaper in corners is much easier, since the cuts made will not be noticeable.

You don't have to be a jack of all trades to get perfect option home interior. Just follow these simple rules, since the corners of the room are evenly pasted: without displacement of the overall pattern, without swelling and distortions, this is an indicator quality repairs.

Usage roll materials for surface cladding - this is a popular and sought-after solution that allows you to achieve high-quality results in short term. But the finishing technology has some nuances. It is especially difficult to glue wallpaper in the corners: the resulting coating must be free of distortions and defects. Most suitable way is selected depending on the situation.

Existing varieties have a certain order of wall cladding, which allows you to achieve the best result.

Vinyl

The technology for working with this option is not very complicated if you perform all the processes correctly.

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. The place is being prepared. For convenience, the material is rolled out onto a clean floor or a suitable table with the pattern down.
  2. Trimming is carried out taking into account an allowance of 100 mm. If the coating has a complex pattern, then the pattern specified by the manufacturer is used.
  3. The canvas is treated with glue and folded in half for better penetration.
  4. The composition is applied to the wall, covering areas that extend beyond the width of the roll.
  5. The strip is laid on the base and smoothed out well.
  6. It is taken into account that standard and meter vinyl wallpapers on a non-woven base you can only glue them end-to-end; an overlap will ruin the look.

The vinyl layer on the canvas is quite durable, so the wallpaper can be safely smoothed with a wallpaper spatula without fear of damaging its integrity

On a note! If you have no experience and need to adjust a complex pattern, it is better to prepare: for this, the stripes are placed on a horizontal surface, aligned with each other, and the size of the required adjustment is noted.

Paper

Gluing this variety is rarely accompanied by difficulties. For the process, you can use any glue, including homemade glue.

Algorithm of actions:

  1. According to the width of the roll, markings are carried out using a level and plumb line.
  2. The material blooms into strips, depending on the pattern. For this, a technology similar to working with the vinyl version is used.
  3. The canvases are well coated with the prepared composition and rolled up.
  4. After surface treatment, pasting is carried out. The excess is trimmed.
  5. Most often, paper products are placed overlapping, but strips can also be joined. It is taken into account that after drying the canvas will become narrower, so a special paper tape is placed under the seams. This rule also applies to other types of wallpaper.

It is impossible to tighten the fabric at the joint by force; the connection is aligned exclusively with the help of a rubber roller

All processes, especially smoothing, are carried out with care, because even multi-layer products are very easily damaged.

Non-woven

To glue this variety, use special option glue, since the material is quite heavy. The preparation of the binder composition is carried out strictly according to the instructions and is applied only to the wall.

Process diagram:

It is important to properly saturate the base: do not leave dry areas. Places beyond the width of the canvas are necessarily affected.

Advice! To speed up the process, it is better to apply the composition with a roller.

Additionally, we suggest watching a video that describes the process of gluing non-woven wallpaper.

How to wallpaper corners correctly

The technology for laying canvases on external and internal corners is different.

External

These areas are the most noticeable, so they must be covered with special care. It's easiest if the angle is perfectly straight, but this is quite rare.

If there are defects, the process becomes more complicated. If the corner is blocked, then you will need to trim the canvas along the bend line in order to overlap one section with the adjacent one. This method is not suitable for varieties with complex patterns.

There is another way:

  1. The strip is glued to a section of the wall.
  2. Using a special spatula, the material is carefully smoothed out to fit the existing bend, and a transition is formed.
  3. If required, part of the laid canvas is torn off, after which the excess is driven up or down. There should be a margin on both sides.
  4. To adjust the pattern in case of skew, the next strip is overlapped until the pattern is aligned with a distance of 5–10 centimeters from the edge.
  5. Using a ruler, which serves as a stop, the applied canvases are cut exactly according to the design.
  6. If required, the joining areas are additionally coated with the compound.

Joining an external corner with a trim on one of the adjacent planes is considered the most effective way arrangement

This method does not completely correct the misalignment, but makes further gluing and adjustment easier.

Interior

The technology for working with such a section is almost identical to the previous process, but has some nuances:

  1. All sides are well processed wallpaper glue. If the composition is applied to canvases, the impregnation must also be quite thorough.
  2. Laying begins with the wall from which movement is carried out. The first fragment is aligned with the previous one, carefully smoothing it into the corner. To do this, the waves are driven to one side with a rubber spatula.
  3. The part that falls on the adjacent wall is slightly pressed.
  4. Further actions depend on the situation. Most often, you need to trim the existing folds in the middle and overlap the excess.
  5. To achieve better alignment, the edges are shortened and coated, after which the piece is placed on the main part of the canvas.

Technically, joining an internal corner is not much different from similar work on external structures, but this process is considered simpler, since internal corners are visually less noticeable

This technology makes it possible to glue different types products, but if the corner does not require trimming, installation is carried out in a standard manner. To do this, the joint of both sides is made with a margin in order to level out the unevenness by adjusting and cutting at the point of alignment. This will take longer, but will get rid of the overlap in the corner.

Joining wallpaper with a pattern

Work technology:

  1. The strip is laid on the initial part of the wall and is gradually distributed over the surface. The waves are driven towards the corner.
  2. The material is carefully fixed onto the inner fragment and smoothed from top to bottom. It is taken into account that the canvas must be cut with a significant margin, since trimming the lower and opposite edges will be required.
  3. The part that falls on the perpendicular wall is distributed. The areas near the baseboards are adjusted.
  4. If the side is uneven, then it must be pasted over with the next strip lying completely in a vertical plane. The offset must affect the pattern being combined.
  5. A ruler is placed exactly along the line, and the excess is cut off using a stationery knife.
  6. The second strip moves towards the corner strip; the gap needs to be additionally glued.

If there are no problems, you can join directly along the inner corner, but this will require a certain level of skill.

Wallpaper with a pattern is joined according to the same principles as without a pattern, but if you stick a horizontal mark of masking tape on adjacent canvases in advance, it will be easier to combine the pattern

What to do if the joints are crooked

Ideally even corners in rooms are rare, so to eliminate various problems, you can use the recommendation that many designers use - combination. It is necessary to cover the transition from wall to wall with wallpaper with a pattern or bright colors. Part of the pattern should extend to the adjacent side, where it is trimmed at a right angle and combined with a plain material. The joining line will be smooth, and any existing imperfections will not be noticeable.

Wallpapering walls - affordable modern remedy interior decoration. Depending on the material used, you can hide some flaws and defects in the walls. People involved in renovation know that incorrect wallpaper application technology and haste lead to ugly consequences and a waste of time and effort.

Before you get started, read the instructions for applying wallpaper to walls.

What angle should you start from?

Properly hung wallpaper will look perfect in the interior of your home. To work you will need:

  • wallpaper;
  • wallpaper glue;
  • ruler;
  • roulette;
  • dishes for diluting glue;
  • pencil;
  • roller and brush ( different sizes);
  • soft dry cloth or wallpaper brush (to remove air bubbles);
  • sharp stationery knife;
  • stepladder or chair.

Many people recommend starting work from the door, while others recommend starting from the window. In fact, it's the other way around. Previously, canvases were produced with a special edge for overlap. Therefore, we had to start gluing from the far wall with the window. Nowadays they produce different types of wallpaper, which are preferably glued end-to-end.

Under no circumstances should you start gluing the material from the corner. Be sure to level the walls and prime them. Wallpapering uneven walls ah is not only difficult, but in some cases impossible.

For those who prefer to overlap, the first roll should be glued from the window. If you are not confident in your abilities, it is better to start from the doorway.

The main thing is to glue the first roll and then build on it.

Rules for gluing

Industry manufactures various types and types of wallpaper. There are paintable wallpapers - non-woven wallpaper. The advantage is that they can be painted in any color. An economical way of interior decoration, because the costs are only for paint.

The wallpapering technique requires sequential steps:

  • wall preparation;
  • temporary removal of skirting boards (if possible);
  • diluting the glue according to the instructions on the package;
  • lubrication of the canvas (sometimes lubrication of the wall is required);
  • applying the roll to the wall from top to bottom;
  • removing air bubbles and wrinkles.

Rules for gluing simple wallpaper(53 cm wide) differs from meter ones (1 meter wide). At first glance it seems that meter materials much harder to glue.

It turns out that this is quite simple if you understand how to hang regular wallpaper.

There are a number of benefits that will change your mind:

  • less effort and time;
  • cheaper than standard wallpaper;
  • creating a seamless effect;
  • high quality (made in Belgium, Italy, France);
  • creating an interior for every taste.

Before purchasing wallpaper, be sure to calculate the cost. For this, a formula from geometry is used: (wall + adjacent wall) x 2. And remember that the length of one canvas on the wall is taken with a margin of 5 cm. Always take a spare roll so that there are no shortcomings when you paste over door jambs and ledges. Be sure to check the length of the canvas itself on the roll in the instructions.

A mandatory safety condition is to turn off the power to the apartment or house. After disconnecting, remove the top panels of sockets and switches. Starting gluing, it is necessary to clean the room from dirt and dust.

Rip off old wallpaper coverings using an ordinary warm water. Wet the coating with water using a spray bottle and wait 20 minutes, after which the wallpaper will easily come off the walls. Remove paper using a knife or spatula. Vinyl sheets are easier to tear off using perforation.

It's much more difficult to get rid of paint. For this they use grinding machine or a drill with a special attachment, but it’s better to use chemical solutions for removing paint and varnish products.

Using the wet method of removing old coatings, less dust is generated and the plaster does not peel off. After removing the old coating, it is necessary to eliminate and repair weak spots(cracks, potholes, bulges).

Be sure to level the walls and prime them. Wallpapering on uneven surfaces is not only difficult, but in some cases it is impossible to do. A particular difficulty for beginners in this business is the issue of gluing external and internal corners.

Internal corner

Action technology:

  1. Applying glue to the canvas or, if necessary, to the wall. Be sure to lubricate the wall joint thoroughly, as this is the most labor-intensive part in the corner.
  2. The canvas is glued so that it overlaps the adjacent wall by 4-5 cm.
  3. Knowing the width of the material, stick the next wallpaper (2-4 cm) on top of the previous one.
  4. Trim the protruding parts and glue the top material in place.

If there are sockets or switches in the corner, you need to cut out round hole (smaller sizes switches) made of canvas in this place.

The presence of rounded corners contributes to the formation of air voids. Be sure to make an incision in this area and glue the material tightly. More glue is applied to this area.

External corner

The outer corner is especially noticeable in the apartment, so it requires strict accuracy.

There are 2 types of gluing external corners depending on the unevenness of the corner:

  1. If the angle is even, the canvas is glued so that it protrudes 3-4 cm on the adjacent side. Next is the gluing process using standard technology.
  2. Uneven walls. In this situation, the protrusion of the canvas onto the adjacent wall increases (4-5 cm).

It is necessary to measure the width of the panel and retreat another 5 mm. This way the gluing will overlap.

A cut is made in the middle of the overlap. Pull back the top part of the wallpaper and remove the protruding parts of the canvas. After removal, glue the top sheet in place.

Cuts are made on the convex surfaces of the wall and the material is pressed tightly against the wall. These methods are intended for overlapping gluing (for wide wallpaper). The designs of these wallpapers are designed to hide imperfections and protrusions.

For standard paper sheets these options will not work. In this case, the first option with butt gluing is used.

If the walls are uneven

Perfectly straight walls are a rarity. Small errors in the unevenness of the walls are acceptable, but with large deviations and noticeable curved surfaces it is impossible to hide this when wallpapering. On the contrary, the appearance of the room’s interior is distorted.

In that case, if there are cracks, they must be repaired cement mortar . For minor cracks use gypsum plaster. Also, it will not be possible to paste wallpaper beautifully and efficiently. The appearance will not match the expected results. In such cases, it is necessary to carry out preparatory work. Putty will be your assistant in this.

Application rules:

  • clean the surface from dirt and dust;
  • tear off the old coating (if any);
  • apply antibacterial impregnation;
  • prime the wall;
  • apply 1 layer starting putty;
  • apply a painting mesh over the putty (to prevent cracks from appearing);
  • apply a second layer of putty;
  • apply two layers finishing putty(thickness 2-4 mm);
  • after complete drying, wash with a primer;
  • remove all roughness and uneven surfaces using sandpaper.

How to stick models with a pattern?

Wallpapering the corners yourself hard work, especially for a beginner.

Plain colored wallpaper is a great way out. But you can bring liveliness to the interior only with the help of drawing. Also, in some cases, such models can cover up irregularities. Do not forget that the canvas is glued overlapping, otherwise the pattern will add an awkward look to the interior, and all the imperfections will be visible.

You can use the method of selecting a pattern, not forgetting that the canvases are glued overlapping, and they need to be cut off. The drawing should be of medium size and strictly plumb. Large or too small drawings add a distorted effect.

A selection different colors Canvases can be used to divide a room into zones without resorting to additional costs (arches, partitions). It is important that the colors are in harmony with each other.

Uneven walls and corners are found not only in old house buildings, but also in modern new buildings. It is precisely because of this deficiency that problems arise with interior decoration. To avoid sad consequences, you should follow the rules:

  • In order for the wallpaper to stick better on the outer corners, it is necessary to press it as tightly as possible to the wall. Glue the wallpaper from top to bottom, gradually lowering towards the floor, thereby avoiding the appearance of folds.
  • If glue gets on the front part of the material, remove it immediately soft cloth. The front sides of some types of canvas become unusable from wallpaper glue.
  • If an air bubble is detected, it must be punctured. Use a syringe to inject glue and smooth it out.
  • The inner corners of the room are the most problematic; it is in these places that peeling, swelling, and tearing occur. For effective and reliable corner gluing, add PVA glue (10%) to the water when preparing the glue. Mix the glue until smooth so that there are no lumps.

  • Make sure there are no drafts. They prevent complete and uniform drying, after which the material peels off. It is allowed to ventilate the room only after the wallpaper has completely dried. This happens within 2-3 days.
  • To better cover areas with windows and wooden openings, the canvas must be taken with a reserve and allowed to dry completely. Only after this, carefully cut off the excess material with a stationery knife.
  • The unevenness of the wall is not always noticeable. Only when pasting the internal and external corners will flaws and incorrect alignment be visible. To avoid these shortcomings, immediately before work, be sure to check the curvature of the walls using a building level and plumb line.
  • In the presence of thermal heating, use a thin narrow brush to lubricate the glue.

Non-woven wallpaper is an excellent finishing option building material, combining practicality, convenience and beauty. In the process of sticking such wallpaper Special attention You should pay attention to how to glue non-woven wallpaper in the corners evenly. Pasting with such material has a number of features that must be taken into account when working. For example, in order to glue non-woven decorations, a special glue based on non-woven material is used. Also, non-woven wallpaper does not require applying glue to the canvas itself, in addition, this type The finishing material does not shrink during operation. Basically, they are glued end-to-end (with the exception of external ones).

Scheme for gluing wallpaper in the corners.

Tools and materials

So, in order to glue non-woven decorations, you need the following tools and materials:

  • non-woven wallpaper;
  • special glue;
  • construction tape;
  • building level;
  • simple pencil;
  • metal spatula 350 mm;
  • metal spatula 150 mm;
  • stitching roller;
  • containers for preparing glue and solutions;
  • cutting knife;
  • roller or brush for applying glue;
  • plastic spatula.

How to glue inner corners with non-woven wallpaper?

Sequence diagram for gluing non-woven wallpaper.

It should be noted that there is one optimal and correct method that tells you how to glue the corners with non-woven wallpaper. Before pasting, the walls of the inner corner must be properly prepared: the old coating is removed, plastering work(if necessary), the walls are leveled, a primer is applied, etc. The adhesive must be prepared according to the instructions immediately before use.

In addition, the wall must be marked: using a building level, a straight vertical line is marked from the edge of the internal joint at a distance equal to the width minus 1-1.5 cm. If the pasting is not started from the edge of the internal joint, then a canvas whose width is equal to distance from the joint to the rib with the addition of 1-1.5 cm. It should be noted that best option- This is a method in which each side of the inner corner is covered with a separate panel. To do this, apply glue with a roller to the marked part of the wall. The application area must correspond to the area of the canvas that will be glued.

You should also additionally apply another layer of glue with a brush along the edge itself, along the upper border of the wall and below, directly at the baseboard.

The prepared canvas (with an allowance of 1-2 cm in length) is applied, starting from the top, to the wall treated with glue and ironed construction spatula in the direction from top to bottom and from the center to the edges. In this way, excess is removed. In this case, the left or right edge of the canvas (depending on which side is pasted over) coincides with the previously applied marking line. Excess is removed in the following way: starting from the top, close to the pasted wall, apply a metal spatula 350 mm long (with smooth walls) or 150 mm long (in the case of uneven walls), then the excess is removed with a cutting knife, while the knife blade moves along the metal plane of the spatula.

It should be noted that the blade of the cutting knife must be sharp to avoid defects when removing residues. The second part of the internal joint is glued in a similar manner. As a result, a joint of panels is obtained along the edge. Of course, if the reference point for pasting is not a corner, but another landmark, then it is possible to paste a part of the canvas of the appropriate width with a deduction of 1-1.5 cm.

Trimming the excess is done using a knife and spatula.

After gluing, joints on a horizontal surface are processed with a rolling roller.

How to glue external corners with non-woven wallpaper?

To paste the outer corners, all the above preparatory operations are carried out: leveling the walls, preparing glue, etc. It is preferable that there is a whole canvas on the outer corner. This gluing option is suitable specifically for smooth external joints, which must be glued taking into account the selection of the pattern.

If it is not possible to glue the whole canvas during the process of pasting the room, then the outer corner is pasted over with a wallpaper panel so that the overlap is 1.5-2 cm. The other side is pasted over with the whole canvas, while the edge of the panel is glued to the edge. This option is most preferable if the material is intended for painting, which will hide defects in the pasting. However, this option is not suitable for wallpaper that needs to be glued taking into account the selection of the pattern.

Planned or redecorating An apartment can hardly do without such a labor-intensive process as decorating the walls with wallpaper. However, today non-woven wallpaper is often used for wall decoration, which has some advantages over its paper counterparts.

For example, such wallpaper options can be subjected to wet cleaning, they perfectly hide the imperfections of uneven walls and retain their appearance for a long time attractive design. In addition, non-woven wallpaper is quite easy to fix on the wall, because it is a very easy-to-use finishing material that does not form vertical, horizontal folds or bubbles. Traditional external and internal corners that are difficult to finish can be decorated with non-woven material without experiencing any serious difficulties. To do this, you just need to take into account some nuances.

The easiest way to have a beautiful front lawn

You've certainly seen the perfect lawn in a movie, on an alley, or perhaps on your neighbor's lawn. Those who have ever tried to grow a green area on their site will no doubt say that it is a huge amount of work. The lawn requires careful planting, care, fertilization, and watering. However, only inexperienced gardeners think this way; professionals have long known about the innovative product - liquid lawn AquaGrazz.

To decorate the corners of a room with non-woven wallpaper, do not try to use a single piece of wallpaper in order to decorate both walls that meet in the corner. In this case, the wallpaper will “behave” almost with a guarantee, and the resulting folds will have to be trimmed, which will negatively affect the appearance walls. However, even if this can be avoided, the crooked angle (unfortunately, this is standard practice for domestic builders) may affect the further decoration of the apartment with wallpaper. After all, non-woven wallpaper is applied to the walls “joint to joint”, accordingly, the distortion made when passing the corner will force all other sheets of material to be trimmed.

Decorating the corners of the room with non-woven wallpaper

Correct wallpapering in the corners with wallpaper made of non-woven cellulose material is as follows:

If everything was done without errors, then the joint between the strips of non-woven wallpaper will be difficult to notice; it will need to be treated with a roller or rag.

External corner

Features of wallpapering external corners of a room

External corners in rooms are much less common than internal ones, but they do happen. The technology for applying non-woven wallpaper in this case is almost identical to the passage of internal corners.

At the first stage, we engage in geometric research:

  1. We measure the distance - from the edge of the last pasted strip to the outer corner - and prepare the next strip of wallpaper so that, after fixing it on the wall, it “wraps” around the corner by no more than 50 millimeters.
  2. We determine the point of the wrapped strip closest to the corner, it is from this point that we will begin gluing a new strip of wallpaper.

Accordingly, measures are taken to apply a vertical stripe and remove wallpaper residues.

By the way, if the outer corner is even, as evidenced not only by a visual inspection, but also by checking with a plumb line, it is permissible to use one strip of wallpaper. However, it must be taken into account that possible discrepancies should not exceed 5 millimeters.

Paper wallpaper

Paper wallpaper is still popular in finishing works inside the apartment. This is due to their very affordable price and sticker method. It is worth noting that paper wallpaper are not able to hide serious defects in wall surfaces and crooked corners. The method of fixing paper wallpaper on the walls is not too different from similar technology with non-woven wallpaper.

The simplest option involves sticking this finishing material “overlapping”. In other words, a strip of wallpaper is glued in the corner with a slight overlap (1-1.5 centimeters) onto the adjacent wall, and the next strip is glued directly in the corner itself. What distinguishes this method is its efficiency, but the visual effect leaves much to be desired.

Paper wallpaper - application features

The second method of wallpapering corners is suitable even for slightly “cluttered” walls that form a corner. Initial stage is completely consistent with the previous method, the only difference is that the overlap on the adjacent surface is slightly larger. The next strip of wallpaper is also glued “overlapping”, but its side farthest from the corner should be oriented along vertical stripe, applied using a plumb line. The canvas should lie with an overlap of 2 centimeters, while having a common border with the adjacent wall. Then, using a special knife, both layers of the finishing material are cut along the applied vertical lines, and after removing its remains, you can begin to further decorate the apartment walls. Don't forget to treat the cut line with a special roller.

As you can see, the method of gluing paper wallpaper in the corners is very similar to the method of fixing non-woven wallpaper.

Finishing external corners with paper wallpaper

External angles occur as window slopes, decorative plasterboard partitions, etc. In any case, the geometry of such a corner is extremely important, because such a corner, unlike the internal one, is constantly in sight. That's why possible defects The outer corner should be eliminated in advance and only after that proceed to wallpapering.

Technology for gluing wallpaper in corners

The technology for gluing wallpaper on the outer corner is very similar to the second method of fixing wallpaper on internal corner. However, the “overlap” on the adjacent wall should not exceed 5 centimeters, this is due to the fact that a large overlap with an uneven wall surface will be difficult to level. Depending on the quality of the wall and wallpaper, folds may appear; they are eliminated using special horizontal cuts on the canvas. The next strip of wallpaper is glued close to the corner, but its far edge should run along a pre-defined vertical strip. Next, using a paint spatula, a building level or a metal ruler, press the center of the overlap and cut both panels with a wallpaper knife. After the remnants of the wallpaper have been removed, they need to be glued and processed with a roller. In this case, the docking connection will be shifted a few millimeters from the corner itself, but this is how it should be. Otherwise, there is a risk of tearing the wallpaper as a result of careless movement.

Small tricks when working with wallpaper

The key importance when working with internal and external corners has finishing material:

  • You should not apply glue to paper wallpaper in advance; there is a very high chance that it will become soaked through and tear in your hands. However, this type of wallpaper does not require trimming when passing corners because due to the fact that the wallpaper is very thin, it is enough to iron the joints with a dry rag or roller.
  • Vinyl wallpaper, on the contrary, is better to treat it with glue in advance and let it absorb it. Vinyl wallpaper is a fairly dense material, and with advance prepared the canvases will be easier to work with.
  • There is no need to apply glue to non-woven wallpaper; it is applied only to the wall.
  • The general rule for all types of wallpaper is that they should be glued in rooms where there are no drafts and where air conditioners and heaters do not work.

Do not forget that the walls must be treated with a primer before wallpapering. In addition, the glue must match the type of finishing material such as wallpaper.
