How to keep a log of fire extinguishers

Before starting its work, any enterprise undergoes fire safety control. According to fire safety rules, fire extinguishers must be present in the premises of the organization in case of fire fighting.

All fire extinguishers available at the enterprise are located in certain places. Where exactly the fire extinguishers are located is indicated by the corresponding stickers on the doors of one or another office, utility room, etc. Fire extinguishers must have passports and their own numbers, so that it is as easy as possible to keep records of fire extinguishers at the enterprise, especially if the area of the enterprise is huge. For the correct accounting of fire extinguishers, there is a special register of fire extinguishers.

Starting to work, the company carries out the distribution of functional responsibilities. Fire safety issues are an additional burden on the employee who relies on such a function, but the employee can be rewarded for this according to the collective agreement.

The appointment of a person responsible for fire safety is carried out by the director of the enterprise and passes on the orders of the organization. As a rule, the person responsible for fire safety is most often the head of the economic department, production manager, administrator. It is assumed that such an employee is constantly in the room during working hours and has enough time to perform efficiently the work of accounting for fire extinguishers at the enterprise.

How to fill in the sections correctly

The fire extinguishers register has its own form, so the document is filled out strictly according to it. Below you can see a standardized form of accounting for fire extinguishers:

The "heading" of the document indicates the following characteristics of the fire extinguisher:

  • the number assigned to the fire extinguisher at the enterprise;
  • putting a fire extinguisher into operation after the fact;
  • the place where the fire extinguisher is located (indicate the room number, floor, wing);
  • brand and type of fire extinguisher (fit from the passport);
  • the name of the plant that manufactured the fire extinguisher;
  • serial number (determined either by the passport or indicated on the cylinder);
  • date of release of the fire extinguisher;
  • concentration or brand of extinguishing agent.

Directly under the "heading" there is a table where data about a specific fire extinguisher is entered.

In the first column, you must indicate the date when the fire extinguisher was examined by an employee of the company responsible for fire safety. The position of the employee is indicated before the name of the employee.

The second column describes the appearance of the fire extinguisher and the state of the working units of the device. The fire extinguisher rating can be satisfactory, good or excellent.

If damage is found on the body of the fire extinguisher that does not affect its functionality, and the components are operational, then the fire extinguisher is rated “satisfactory”. The mark "good" is given for working units and minor damage to the device, and the mark is "excellent" if the device has no flaws.

If a fire extinguisher is damaged, causing the device to malfunction, such a fire extinguisher must be written off and immediately replaced with a working device.

The column "total weight" should contain data from the fire extinguisher's passport, where such parameters are indicated. The weight of the cylinder itself is indicated in the next column if the cylinder has a pressure sensor.

The column on the state of movable parts is relevant for those fire extinguishers that have devices for movement. As a rule, these are voluminous bulky fire extinguishers located on a frame with wheels, which extinguish large fire surfaces. If the fire extinguisher is small, then a dash is put in the column.

In the next column devoted to the elimination of deviations, it is necessary to enter the data when such deviations were eliminated, and what kind they were. As a rule, most fire extinguishers regularly serve their term, therefore, if such actions have not been carried out, a dash is also put in the column.

The last box is the box for the signature of the fire extinguisher inspector. Thus, he will attest that the information was entered correctly and by a competent person.

The fire extinguishers logbook serves to timely identify and correct all deviations in the operation of fire extinguishers. Before entering data, each fire extinguisher must be inspected - the introduction of deliberately false, untrue data entails the responsibility of the official before the law.

It is important to remember that all fire extinguishers must be in good working order, because an unforeseen fire spreads quickly and sometimes a fire extinguisher is the only way to prevent a major fire and save human lives and material values.

How often does it require filling

Speaking about the frequency of filling the magazine, you need to remember the basic rule - the fire extinguisher is recharged once every five years, and the cylinders are inspected every six months. Depending on this, the accounting journal is filled in.

For example, if from the beginning of the operation of the enterprise all fire extinguishers were purchased and installed at the same time, then the next reconciliation will take place in six months.

If, for some reason, the fire extinguisher fails after four months, and it is replaced with a new one, then the inspection time will shift. The rest of the fire extinguishers will need to be checked in two months, as soon as the allotted time has expired, while the last new fire extinguisher need not be checked, because it was tested two months earlier, when replacing a broken device.

At first, it will be easy to keep records, since most fire extinguishers will be checked at the same time, but as soon as some of them are replaced at different times, the fire safety officer must be vigilant and check the fire extinguishers depending on the timing of a particular device.

Those responsible for fire safety should remember that foam fire extinguishers and fire extinguishers with additive water are recharged every year.

Example

Below is an example of filling out the register of fire extinguishers, in which all the columns are filled in correctly.

Such a magazine will not only protect the enterprise from freelance checks by firemen, but also enable the director of the enterprise to service fire extinguishers in a timely manner, so that in the event of a fire source, any device is in good working order and effectively prevents a fire.
