How to make a water pump from a water meter. DIY hand pump for water in different versions. Features of mini water pumps

Often summer residents are faced with the problem of water extraction on the site. This issue is especially relevant if all attempts to find an aquifer on land holdings end in failure. Or maybe there is simply no need to use a large number of funds for the arrangement of a well / well. In this case, a homemade pump is useful for pumping water from a nearby reservoir (river / pond) for irrigation. This equipment option will not only save the family budget, but also reduce labor costs for water extraction.

Important: homemade pump manual own production capable of the right approach for installation to pump up to 25 thousand liters during the day.

How to make a water pump for pumping water from any reservoir or reservoir, below in our material. Consider the three most simple, but no less effective ways production of pumps with manual control or powered by heat and solar energy. It is very difficult to assemble an electrical unit on your own, so we will leave this type of assembly to professionals.

A do-it-yourself pump, assembled using this technology, is able to take water for watering a garden and a vegetable garden from a nearby reservoir even with a wind of 2 m / s. It is the wind in this case that will be the driving force, which, at the minimum speed, creates a pressure in the pumping system from 4 atmospheres.

So, to assemble a hand pump for pumping out / taking water, you need to prepare:

  • Corrugated pipe with a cross section of 5-7 cm;
  • Sleeve for pipe with valves - 2 pcs .;
  • Bracket for corrugated pipe mounting;
  • Wooden stand with a sharp bottom end.

Important: brass can also be used as a water intake pipe. But in this case, the weight of the rack log must exceed 60 kg.

The pump is installed in this way. A bracket is attached to the log in its upper part. A corrugated pipe is fixed to it with one end. The other end of the pipe is lowered to the bottom of the log and securely fastened with a clamp. A log with an attached pipe is forcefully pressed into the bottom of the reservoir in such a way as to have access to the upper outlet of the homemade pump. Then the wind will do its job: the water pump with its own hands will pump out water from the reservoir of water by the effect of reducing the corrugated pipe. Just have time to substitute the bucket.

Important: so that the log rack does not rot in water, it is advisable to treat it with a solution of kerosene and drying oil. In this case, the impregnation of the hand pump must be done in four stages. And the sections of the ends of the log must be processed six times. The mixture freezing in the wind is simply warmed up a little to a liquid state.

Oven pump

This unit is not electric, but it pumps water just as well. Its principle of operation is to displace air from the pump reservoir. In this case, the space will be filled with water, which will be pulled by the air leaving the pump as a vacuum.

Important: a similar water pump fills a 200 liter barrel within an hour.

For the manufacture of such a unit you will need:

  • Barrel with a capacity of 200 liters made of steel;
  • Outlet branch pipe with a tap-valve;
  • Primus for heating the barrel (you can use a simple blowtorch;
  • Rubber hose with mesh filter at the end;
  • Hand or electric drill.

We assemble the water pump in this way:

  • On one side of the barrel, in the lower part of it, we make a hole with a drill and mount a tap-valve into it. It will facilitate the release of water from the reservoir when needed.
  • In the upper part of the barrel with a lid, a hole is made for the hose and the latter is tightly mounted into it. The hose must be inserted tightly and without gaps.
  • It remains to install a kerosene stove under the barrel, pour 2-3 liters of water into the barrel and light the fire. In this case, we lower the end of the hose into the reservoir and wait for a good heating of the tank. When the fire goes out, the barrel cools down and begins to pump water out of the reservoir under the influence of pressure differences.

Solar powered unit

The pump, which will be powered by solar energy, contains two valves in its design that allow water to flow through the water intake hose under the influence of temperature changes. And the main generating substance in such a unit is propane-butane. Its low-temperature boil feature helps power the homemade hand pump.

The principle of operation of the installation is as follows. A rubber bulb is lowered into a metal can, which is connected to a metal tube made in the form of a lattice. This tube contains propane-butane. In turn, there are two valves in the can, which work for the inlet and outlet of water and the container. Moreover, one of the valves opens, and the second closes at the same moment.

Important: the propane-butane grate should be located on a sunny area.

In order for such a water pump to come into action with your own hands, you just need to pour a metal tube cold water... From this, the liquid inside it will begin to cool and inflate the pear. As a result, water will be pumped out of the reservoir into the reservoir. In this case, the tube will be heated under the sun and immediately cooled under the influence of passing water.

Thus, it becomes clear that it is quite possible to assemble a simple water pump with your own hands. Unfortunately, this does not apply to faecal or drainage pumps... They have more complex device and require a more thorough approach. A good fecal pump can be purchased from specialized points of sale at favorable price using the recommendations of professionals.

It so happens that suddenly emergency conditions are created, and the room is filled with water. In this case, immediate assistance is required with the use of equipment that helps to pump out dirty water.

The most common type of equipment is a hand-held water pump. The pump for pumping water, in comparison with other types of pumping equipment, has a high degree of mobility.

It is capable of quickly pumping the required volume of water, does not need a power supply and can be used as a conventional pump for domestic needs.

1 The principle of operation of a manual pump for pumping water

A manual water pump can be useful in any household. To do this, you need to know the technical characteristics of the presented models and be familiar with its intended purpose.

The hand pump for water is the most popular among the owners country houses and summer cottages. This unit is presented as an alternative device that can be replaced with a high degree of efficiency in the event of an unauthorized power outage.

In addition, the pumping equipment is not designed for short and quick on and off cycles - from this it quickly breaks down.

In such cases, a device with which you can manually pump one or two buckets of water in a short period of time is absolutely indispensable.

In addition, a hand pump, if desired, can be easily connected to and used as needed.

The hand pump is presented in the form of a piston pump. The principle of operation of this unit is similar to the principle of operation of its electrical counterpart.

The device is equipped with a casing, which in all types of modifications has an elongated cylindrical shape... The piston carries out its translational movement inside the housing.

Thanks to its movement, water is pumped. The pump casing is provided with an inlet. Through this hole, the supply and flow of the working fluid takes place.

In this case, through the made outlet, the pumped out water is supplied directly to the consumer. The device is equipped with a flange, which is supplemented with a rubber seal in order to generate a powerful piston thrust.

The bottom outlet for water intake is equipped with built-in check valves. They are one of the most important details ensuring the correct operation of the entire mechanism .

At the moment when the user lowers the piston rod, the piston moves down through the channel. As a result, water begins to flow through a valve located in the piston into the free space above it.

At this time, the check valve located near the inlet is in the slammed position. This is because the part is under pressure from the incoming water.

At this moment, in the chamber, which is located above the piston, a vacuum begins to form. A sharp decrease in the pressure level is observed, and water begins to be sucked in from the source in connection with the operation of the reverse-acting valve.

In the process of repeating such a cycle, water is moved from the chamber under the piston to the space above it. After that, the water enters the outlet pipe, and then to the end consumer.

By by and large, the principle of operation of the manual pump is based on work with pressure drops. Water moves by increasing pressure in one chamber and decreasing it in another.

The pipe that enters the pump must have a sufficiently high degree of rigidity. This is necessary in order to prevent its collapse during the water absorption process. For example, the use of a garden hose in such cases is irrational.

Most suitable option Is a plastic or metal pipe. The rod drive itself in most configurations is made in the form of a flywheel lever of the "crane" type.

The use of such a design is convenient in that a minimum amount of effort is required to move the lever. Thus, having carried out one or two large strokes, you can fill a whole bucket with water.

The presented units are used for water intake from a depth not exceeding 8 meters. From a greater depth, water intake is not possible due to the effect of atmospheric pressure.

It is important to consider the conformity of the pump body shape to the piston diameter. This will ensure that it is tightly in contact with the inner walls of the cylinder, which will help to form the necessary pressure drops inside the device.

The product is equipped with one more important element- check valve. This part fully ensures the performance level of the entire unit.

The check valve in hand pumps can be of two types - diaphragm and ball. presented in the form of a plate, which is made using thick rubber.

It is riveted near the outlet of the device. In all cases, this plate must provide a high tightness overlap of the hole.

In most modifications, the check valve is mounted at the inlet with inside the unit body itself. The check valve is attached to the piston from the side of the piston chamber.

When the piston is lifted up, a vacuum is formed in the lower chamber. Then the valve is opened, the plate rises under the pressure of water, after which the chamber is filled with it.

At the same moment check valve, mounted on the piston, is firmly pressed under the influence of pressure against the top cover of the chamber.

When the piston is lowered under water pressure, the check valve located at the top is closed. The ball type check valve is very similar to the diaphragm version, however, its opening is closed with the participation of a ball.

During operation, the movement of the ball can be limited by special handrails or a net. The weight of the ball is calculated in such a way that it does not float in the water, but sinks. For this purpose, balls are made using ebonite or dense and weighted plastic.

2 How to make a manual pump for pumping water with your own hands?

The hand pump can be easily assembled by yourself. Subsequently, it can be actively used in the country and in country house as an emergency spare pump. In order to make a wave-type manual pump, you must have:

  • Corrugated pipe;
  • Two bushings with valves;
  • Bracket;
  • Logs.

If you plan to use a bushing made using brass, then the weight of the log must exceed 60 kg. The prefabricated works are sealed at both ends with bushings with built-in valves.

In this case, one end of the pipe is attached to the bracket, and the other to the log. The log is lowered into the pond, and the natural fluctuations of the water cause the plastic accordion, which creates pressure in the pump, to move.

In the event that the wind speed reaches more than two meters per second, the pressure level will increase to four atmospheres. Based on this, about 20 thousand liters of water can be pumped from the reservoir during the day.

Such a unit will work more reliably and more efficiently if the ring stop is fixed using the bolts on the lift.

Another hand pump configuration is the so-called pump oven. The principle of operation of such a unit is also based on the pressure difference. In order to design such a product, you need to take care of the availability of:

  • Steel two-hundred-liter barrels;
  • Blowtorch;
  • A branch pipe equipped with a crane;
  • Rubber hose;
  • Mesh nozzle for the hose;
  • Drills.

Such a device is quite capable of providing watering personal plot or vegetable garden. To do this, a pipe with a pipe and a tap is cut into the bottom of the barrel.

A hole is then drilled in the screw plug, to which the flexible hose is mounted. The other end of the hose is tightly covered with a mesh nozzle. This hose is lowered into the body of water.

A blowtorch is securely installed on the platform under the bottom of the barrel. The barrel is pre-filled with water to about one third of its volume, and a fire is kindled under its bottom.

The barrel begins to cool slowly, as a result, the pressure level drops, and water from the reservoir begins to be supplied to the recipient. The solar-powered pump is designed in such a way that a propane-butane mixture is contained in special pipes made in the form of a grid.

The structure is directly connected to a pear made of rubber, which is lowered into the can. The can lid is equipped with two built-in valves.

One of them is able to pass air inside, and the second releases it under a pressure of 1 atm. In order to start the unit, in the summer you only need to pour the grate with a stream of cold water.

After buying a garden plot, the summer resident has to solve the most difficult task in life: to settle down in a new place. The most important thing is to establish water supply, because imported water will not last for a long time. The problem of watering is also not solved in this way.

It is good if the house is located near some body of water: a river or stream. In this case, you will need a pump for water supply. As an option, you can consider a homemade water pump. Such a device can be created from various materials... Water is collected in the following way: a person makes forward movements and allows the internal valve to move, while water flows out through the hose. Using a pump will ease the watering problem.

This article provides ideas for making models of mini water pumps or mini pumps, as they are called by many. These are simple and cheap homemade products that will definitely come in handy in household to pump water.

Important! Water from a well can be raised to an aboveground reservoir using one of two types of pumps: reciprocating or centrifugal. Both the one and the other, although they work on different physical principles, are designed to solve the same problem of delivering or moving water from one place to another. When choosing a pump type, energy consumption is taken into account, as well as the ease of troubleshooting in case of a breakdown.

Pump characteristics

How to make a water pump with your own hands? To create a pump, the first thing you need is materials. At the same time, first of all, you need to be guided by the following criteria:

  • The power on which the rate of pumping water from the well depends. On average for pumping from wells, boreholes, reservoirs and storage tanks it is equal to 350-400 W;
  • Maximum pressure. Roughly the required watering head for the garden is 40 m;
  • Strength and moisture resistance of the material. For example, best material body - cast iron, impeller - brass, shaft - stainless steel, mechanical seal - ceramic graphite.

If we take into account all of the above criteria, then it will be possible to build an efficient pump, and pumping water from the well will be carried out in a matter of minutes.

A cheap overflow pump can be made from almost nothing: from two plastic bottles with and without a cork, a piece of plastic pipe of a suitable diameter and an outlet hose.

Manufacturing process

  1. First, the valve is cut out, for which the gasket is removed from the cover and cut in a circle. In this case, the gasket in diameter should be smaller than the neck of the bottle;
  2. An eight-millimeter hole is drilled in the center of the bottle cap. Next, a gasket is inserted, the cut neck is screwed in - all this is done to clamp the membrane and obtain a petal valve. A pipe is inserted into the finished valve;
  3. From another bottle, a kind of funnel is made, which is fixed on top of a plastic pipe;
  4. A drain hose is put on the other end of the pipe.

In this way, the simplest do-it-yourself pump is made to pump out water. With the help of a sharp movement of the hand up and down, the water is brought along plastic pipe before pouring out. Then the liquid flows by gravity.

Diaphragm pump

In order to do diaphragm pump with your own hands, you must first disassemble such a failed unit and see how it works. The device includes:

  • two compartments located opposite each other;
  • high strength membrane;
  • distributor.

During the operation of the device, one compartment is filled with air, the other with water. As a result of displacement, water begins to move through the chambers. When the position of the diaphragm changes due to the actuation of the valves, it is discharged through the pipes.

The compact and lightweight air-driven diaphragm pump can be disassembled in three minutes. In this case, only two keys are required. So, one by one:

  • the rod with the drive shaft is removed from the very center of the pump;
  • the membrane is removed;
  • remove the valves that prevent back suction of the pumped medium.

Regulatory and shut-off valvesnecessary elements in every water system, their purpose is to regulate the flow of water.

Having studied the internal composition, you can proceed to self-assembly devices.

For information. The areas of application of diaphragm pumps are very different: chemical, oil, paint and varnish, food industry. The main advantages are: no piston, no need for gaskets, inability to spark. The principle of operation is based on the laws of hydraulics and pneumatics.

How to make a hand pump

The water pump is very much needed in the spring and summer season. To make a hand pump for water with your own hands, it is enough to flip through the thematic pages on the Internet. The solution can be found by exploring several options. Preference is most often given to structures of the Soviet era, they are many times more reliable and sturdy than the current ones.

So how to make a hand pump for a well for an eight-meter well? This will require a welding machine and used materials.

Basic details

  • a five-liter carbon dioxide fire extinguisher with a wall thickness of 5 mm;
  • two drives for three quarters - one for the spout (side), the other for the water intake (below);
  • sealing rubber;
  • half-inch pipe - 1 meter;
  • two valves;
  • a pond with a diameter of 14 mm for the rod, so that it fits perfectly into the head of the fire extinguisher;
  • lever 12 mm thick, 28 mm wide and 70 cm long;
  • basic support leg 12 mm thick, 28 mm wide;

Additional elements are also used:

  • a bed measuring 7x30x25 cm, on which everything is attached;
  • mounting angle 4x35 mm;
  • steel handles for carrying the structure;
  • M8 bolts for fastening the lever arms.

Three-quarter squeegees are used to increase the flow and reduce the load when pumping water. You can make them half an inch in size. The squeegees are welded to the pump casing (fire extinguisher). But first, the body itself is made.

Description of the manufacturing process

The principle of operation of the pump is to create a vacuum suction of well water, on this basis a device is created.

  1. The bottom of the fire extinguisher is cut off. Between its body and the bed, a sealing rubber, pre-cut to the size of the body, is laid. In this case, the structure is fastened to the base in four places with the help of corners. Bolts and washers are used for fastening. For simplicity, holes can simply be burned into the metal on which the stem walks. This hole is central and must be done carefully with a welding machine;
  2. A thread drive is welded to the stem and a return piston is screwed in, which plays the role of a check valve in the system. The piston is a 5 mm metal circle with 10 mm holes for the passage of water. Above it, a cuff cut from ordinary sheet rubber is put on a rod of the same diameter;
  3. The whole installation is supported by support legs, which are fixed with M12 bolts. The legs are screwed into the nuts welded to the bed. The design is completely collapsible;
  4. At the end of all welding work, the pump is primed and painted.

The stem is rigidly connected to the handle. When the rod starts to move, the collar rises and water seeps through the piston holes and rises to exit through the side squeegee (dispenser spout). The pumping handle should swing freely left and right.

The pump pumps out approximately two to three liters of water at a time. Such a pump for pumping water is useful for taking water from a reservoir such as a well, a well.

For information. All pumps use the basic forces of nature to move fluid. As soon as the moving parts of the pump begin to move, the water is pushed out to the side.

Alteration of the Chinese pump

Surely many were burned on purchases of Chinese-made brushless pumps. The devices are not bad, but they often break down: the filling of the pumps itself is covered - electronics, flooded epoxy resin... The Chinese rocking chair serves a maximum of two weeks on a solar collector. Having entered the course of the principle of operation of the device a little, you can redo the Chinese water pumps with your own hands. It will turn out, as in the saying "If you want it to work as it should, do it all yourself."

How to make a water pump from a Chinese broken product? First of all, disassemble the pump, see the assembly diagram. Of the parts for assembling a new device, an impeller will come in handy, it is difficult to make it yourself.

The new home-made water pump is assembled from a powerful Soviet-era engine, a coupling and a Chinese-made impeller. Creation is set to solar collector, and the issue with the pump disappears for a long time. It will work productively.

Important! A converted pump for a well with your own hands will need to be closed from dust, which is a common cause of damage to propulsion equipment.

The completed unit is attached and tested in action. Such a homemade pump perfectly pumps water from a two-meter depth. It will last for several years for reliable operation, considering how it works cyclically.

For seasonal watering, devices with a minimum of wearing parts are mainly used:

  • asynchronous centrifugal pump made with your own hands;
  • three-phase brushless unit.

In terms of popularity, the design of a centrifugal electric pump for water surpasses many pumping devices similar destination.

Making a pump for pumping water, if you figure it out, is not difficult at all. Made with your own hands, it will become reliable and effective remedy for household needs: watering, fence drinking water from the well. This technically simple design will help reduce electricity and water consumption.

Water at the summer cottage is required not only for the owners to comply with sanitary and hygienic standards. It is necessary for watering plants, caring for the territory and pets, refreshing and bathing in the hot summer season. Agree that it is difficult to lift the entire required volume from the source manually with buckets.

However, there is a way to alleviate the difficult fate of summer residents - this is a homemade water pump. Even if there is no money to buy pumping equipment, you can become the proud owner of a useful technical device. To build it, sometimes literally one power of thought is enough.

We have collected and systematized for you valuable information about making almost free homemade products. The models presented for consideration were tested in practice and deservedly received the recognition of the owners. A detailed description of the manufacturing technology is supplemented with diagrams, photo and video materials.

This pump is likely to be the simplest and cheapest, because the raw materials are literally wasteful, i.e. do not cost anything at all.

To implement the idea for its assembly, the following materials are required:

  • plastic bottle with a stopper;
  • plastic bottle without stopper;
  • a piece of plastic pipe of a suitable diameter;
  • outlet hose.

First, you need to make a petal valve.

We take out the gasket from the cover plastic bottle... We cut it in a circle so that the gasket in diameter becomes smaller than the neck of the bottle. At the same time, you need to leave a narrow sector intact, about 15-20 degrees.

The sector must be left such a width that it can easily swing, but not come off.

Drill a hole in the center of the plastic bottle cap, about 8 mm. Insert the gasket and screw on the cut neck.

The purpose of screwing in the neck is to clamp the membrane and get a petal valve

Insert a plastic pipe into the finished valve. Cut off the top from the second plastic bottle. You should get something that looks like an intake funnel. We fix it over the plastic pipe.

We put on the drain hose on the other end of the plastic pipe. The simplest homemade pump for pumping water is ready.

The tapered portion will help the liquid open the petal. In addition, the valve will not hit the bottom.

With a sharp movement of the hand up and down, we force the liquid to rise through the plastic pipe to the spout. Then the liquid will flow by gravity.

There are still other options:

To use a piston pump of a surface or submersible type, it is necessary, which can also be independently pierced as abyssinian well or drill.

Design # 2 - hand pump with direct spout

A very simple device for pumping water from a barrel,. The advantages of this design: quick assembly, cheap cost.

Required details:

  • PVC pipe 50mm - 1pc .;
  • PVC sleeve 50mm - 1pc;
  • PPR pipe 24mm - 1pc .;
  • outlet PPR d.24 - 1pc;
  • PVC cap d.50mm - 2 pcs .;
  • a piece of rubber 50mm, 3-4mm thick - 1pc;
  • check valve d.15mm - 1pc .;
  • empty silicone bottle 330ml - 1pc;
  • clamping screw clamp - 1pc;
  • screw nut or rivet - 1pc;
  • union nut d.15 - 1pc.

We begin the assembly of the entire structure with the manufacture of a check valve.

Check valve construction. We are preparing a check valve from a plug Ø 50mm. We drill several holes around the perimeter of the plug Ø 5-6mm. In the center we drill a hole of a suitable diameter for a pair of screw-nut or rivets.

On the inside of the plug we put a rubber disc Ø 50mm. The disc should not rub against the walls of the plug, but should cover all drilled holes. In the center, we tighten it with a screw-nut or rivet, the screw will not work. If there are difficulties with materials or workmanship, it can be replaced with a factory-made check valve.

What is prefabricated, used for work pumping station, described in detail in the article we recommend.

Preparing the pump sleeve. The length of the sleeve should be commensurate with the depth of the well or container with water. We cut the PVC sewer pipe Ø 50mm the desired length, from the narrow end. Insert the newly made valve into the pipe socket. For reliability, we fasten it on both sides with self-tapping screws.

For the second end, we prepare a plug with a preliminary drilled holeØ 25mm. This hole in the plug is made according to the diameter of the PPR pipe Ø 24. Great accuracy is not required, the plug serves as a sliding support.

Piston assembly procedure. Cut off the nozzle from the empty silicone bottle. Next, you need to heat the cylinder and insert the sleeve into the PVC so that the diameter of the cylinder exactly matches the diameter of the sleeve. We put the silicone can on the valve from the reverse side of the arrow (the arrow on the check valve shows the direction of water movement).

We cut off the excess balloon. We fix it with a union nut d. 15.

Pump rod device. The length of the stem should be 50-60 cm longer than the length of the sleeve. It is necessary to warm up one end of the stem and insert a check valve. The arrow on the check valve should point towards the inside of the stem. Until the pipe is completely cool, tighten it with a screw clamp.

Final assembly pumps. We insert the stem into the sleeve, attach the plug (slide support) from above through the coupling. To top it off, we attach a PPR 24mm bend to the end of the stem tube. It remains to connect the hose and you can pump water.

The material of the pipes can be any, and the cross-section is not necessarily round. It is important to choose a suitable piston for the liner

The bend serves as a support for the hand. For convenience, you can take a tee and plug one side of it.

Design # 3 - hand pump with side spout

There is one in the previous construction, but significant disadvantage... The spout moves with the stem. This design is not much more complicated, but much more convenient.

The sleeve needs to be improved. Add a 50mm PVC tee with a 35 degree bend to the design. The tee must be inserted into the top of the sleeve. In the rod, near the piston, we drill several holes large diameter, the main thing is not to overdo it and not to violate the rigidity of the entire structure.

The piston moving upwards pushes the liquid into the outlet pipe. The upper cover serves as a support for the piston rod

The water will now start pouring into the space between the stem and the sleeve. As the piston moves up, water will flow into the spout.

Construction # 4 - Reciprocating Well Pump

This pump design is suitable for wells no more than 8 meters. The principle of operation is based on the vacuum created by the piston inside the cylinder. Useful homemade product it can become an excellent alternative, it will help to solve the problems of water extraction for servicing the suburban area.

In such pumps, the top cover is either absent or has a slotted hole, since the stem is rigidly connected to the handle

Necessary materials:

  • metal pipe, diameter 100mm, length 1m .;
  • rubber;
  • piston;
  • two valves.

The pump performance directly depends on the tightness of the entire structure.

You will find a detailed description of the manufacturing process of a piston pump for use at a summer cottage in one of our website.

Step # 1: device sleeve assembly

For the manufacture of the pump liner, you must pay attention to inner surface, it should be flat and smooth. A good option can become a liner from a truck engine.

From the bottom to the sleeve, you need to weld the steel bottom along the diameter of the well head. In the center of the bottom, either a petal valve or a factory one is installed.

A cover is made for the top of the sleeve, although this detail is more aesthetic, you can do without it. It is necessary to pay attention to the fact that the hole for the piston rod is made slotted.

Step # 2: construct the pump piston

For the piston, you need to take 2 metal discs. Between them, lay not very thick rubber 1 cm, a little larger diameter than discs. Next, we tighten the discs with bolts.

As a result, the rubber disk will be clamped and you should get a sandwich of metal and rubber. The point is to create a rubber rim along the edge of the piston, which will form the required piston-sleeve seal.

It remains to install the valve and weld the ear for the stem.

Step # 3. Making a petal valve from rubber

The petal valve consists of a rubber disc that is not very thick. The disc must be larger than the inlet holes. A hole is drilled in the center of the rubber. Through this hole and a pressure washer, the rubber disc is attached over the inlet holes.

When sucked in, the edges of the rubber will rise and water will begin to flow. Backstroke creates down pressure: the rubber reliably closes the intake holes.

Step # 4: Final assembly and installation

It is advisable to cut a thread at the head of the well and in the bottom of the pump sleeve. The threads will allow easy removal of the pump for service and will seal the installation.

Install the top cover and attach the handle to the stem. For comfortable work, the end of the handle can be wrapped with electrical tape or rope, laying the coil to the coil.

The borehole depth limitation is due to the theoretical impossibility of creating a vacuum of more than 1 atmosphere. If the well is deeper, the pump will have to be modified to a deep one.

Construction # 5 - deep piston pump

The difference from a conventional piston pump is that the pump sleeve must be set to the depth of the well. In this case, the length of the stem is more than 10 meters.

The sleeve of such a pump can serve as a wellbore, and a suspended load can serve as a spring (+)

There are two ways to solve this problem:

  1. Make the stem from a lighter material such as aluminum pipe.
  2. Make a rod from a chain.

For the second option, explanations are needed. In this case, the stem is not rigid. The bottom of the liner is connected to the bottom of the piston by a return spring.

Construction # 6 - American or Coiled Type

The spiral pump uses the energy of the flow of the river. For work, the minimum requirements must be met: depth - at least 30 cm, flow speed - at least 1.5 m / s.

Option 1

Necessary materials:

  • flexible hose 50mm;
  • several clamps along the diameter of the hose;
  • intake - PVC pipe, diameter 150mm;
  • wheel;
  • pipe reducer.

The main difficulty in such a pump is the pipe reducer. This can be found in decommissioned sewer trucks or obtained from factory equipment.

An impeller is attached to the pump for greater efficiency

The flexible hose is fastened to the wheel in a spiral with the help of clamps. At one end, a PVC pipe intake of 150mm diameter is attached. The other end of the hose is pushed onto the pipe reducer.

Water is taken in by the water intake and moves in a spiral, creating the necessary pressure in the system. The lift height depends on the current speed and the depth of the intake.

Option 2

Necessary materials:

  • flexible hose 12mm (5);
  • plastic barrel 50cm, length 90cm (7);
  • foam (4);
  • impeller (3);
  • sleeve coupling (2);

Cut the intake hole in the bottom of the barrel. It is necessary to lay the hose tightly in a spiral inside the barrel and connect it to the sleeve coupling.

To add buoyancy to the inside of the barrel, it is necessary to glue foam floats. Finally, screw on the impeller.

For this design option drain hose should be 25 mm. in diameter.

Construction # 7 - wave pump

As the name suggests, these pumps use wave energy. Of course, the waves on the lakes are not so big, but the pump works around the clock and is capable of pumping up to 20 cubic meters per day.

Option 1

Necessary materials:

The float is a pipe, a log, it is selected depending on the stiffness of the corrugated pipe, empirically.

The corrugated pipe can be made of plastic or metal. The weight of the log must be selected experimentally

Two valves working in the same direction are mounted in the corrugated pipe.

When the float moves down, the corrugated pipe stretches, and as a result, water is taken. As the float moves up, the corrugation contracts and pushes the water upward. Therefore, the float must be heavy and large enough.

The entire structure is rigidly attached to the mast.

Option 2

This design differs from the first variant in that the corrugated pipe is replaced by a brake chamber. This diaphragm-based scheme is very often used in simple do-it-yourself water pumps. Such a pump is quite versatile and can receive energy from wind, water, steam, and the sun.

The brake chamber should be disassembled and only two valve holes should be left.

Making the right valves is a separate task.

Necessary materials:

  • copper or brass tube;
  • balls of slightly larger diameter - 2 pcs.;
  • spring;
  • copper strip or rod;
  • rubber.

For the inlet valve, cut off the tube and reamed it so that the ball fits snugly on the tube. It is necessary to ensure that the ball does not let water through. To prevent the ball from falling out, we solder a wire or a strip on top.

The design of the exhaust valve differs from the intake valve by the presence of a spring. The spring must be installed between the ball and the copper strip.

Cut out a diaphragm from the rubber to the size of the brake chamber. To drive the diaphragm, you need to drill a hole in the center and pull the pin. Insert the valve from the bottom of the brake chamber. Epoxy glue can be used for sealing.

It is better to find balls for valves not metal, so they will not corrode.

Option 3

Based on the design of the two previous options, you can think about building a more perfect model.

For this pump it is necessary to drive four stakes (1) into the bottom of the reservoir. Then make a float from a log. In the log, you need to make cuts so that when swinging on the waves, it does not rotate.

Log travel stops (3) and (4) are nailed in such a way that the log at maximum movement does not damage the pump rod (5).

Construction # 8 - device from the washing machine

Often, parts or even whole units from old things remain on the farm. A centrifugal pump can be removed from an already unnecessary washing machine. Such a pump is perfect for pumping water from a depth of up to 2 meters.

Necessary materials:

  • a centrifugal pump from a washing machine;
  • flap valve from a washing machine or homemade;
  • cap, bottle cap;
  • hose;
  • an isolation transformer is desirable.

If a ready-made valve from a washing machine is used, then it must be modified. One hole needs to be plugged, for example with a bottle cap.

Excess pump openings must be plugged. If the case is metal - grounding is mandatory

The petal valve is connected to the hose and lowered into a pit or well. Connect the other end of the hose to the pump. In order for the system to start working, it is necessary to fill the hose with the valve and the pump itself with water. It remains to connect the transformer, and the pump is ready for operation.

Build # 9 - Water Pump From Compressor

If you already have air compressor, do not rush to purchase a water pump. It will be successfully replaced by a constructively simple airlift device.

Necessary materials:

  • pouring pipe d.20-30mm .;
  • air pipe 10-20mm .;

The principle of the pump is very simple. A hole must be drilled in the outlet pipe; they must be positioned closer to the bottom. The hole should be 2-2.5 times the diameter of the air pipe. It remains to insert the air pipe and apply air pressure.

One of the most efficient and simple pumps, it won't clog and assemble in 5 minutes

The efficiency of such a pump depends on the height of the water level, the depth of the reservoir, the power of the compressor (capacity). The efficiency is about 70%.

Build # 10 - Gear Water Machine

The heart of this design is gear pumps for pumping oil from agricultural or truck vehicles. The KrAZ power steering power plant has similar characteristics.

Unit characteristics:

  • the working volume of the pump is 32 cm 3;
  • maximum pressure - 2.1 atm;
  • operating speed - 2400 rpm;
  • the maximum permissible speed - 3600 rpm;
  • nominal pumped volume - 72 l / min.

To such a pump, if possible, connect an engine from a washing machine. Engine household appliances has a number of advantages: it works from a single-phase 220V network, has a starting system (capacitor).

Gear mechanisms are left- and right-sided, you need to pay attention to the direction of the arrow on the body

Pulleys and a belt may be required to obtain the required RPM. The advantage of a gear pump is that the gears are able to create the required suction force even without prior filling with water.

The only note: after the pump is running, to prevent corrosion of the steel gears, it is necessary to let the pump idle for about 20 minutes.

Build # 11 - Bicycle Wheel Pump

A powerful pump based on two wheels.

Necessary materials:

  • sewer pipes and PVC bends;
  • bicycle wheel;
  • nylon rope;
  • small pulley;
  • several pistons;
  • mounting rod.

The principle of operation of this pump is similar to that of a dragline.

First you need to build from a sleeve that will be submerged in water. A branch is put on the upper part of the sleeve through which water will drain. Next, we install a small pulley from below (a wheel rim from a wheelbarrow will do), and a bicycle wheel on top.

We fasten a series of pistons along the entire length of the rope, having previously passed it through the sleeve. The rope should be around the pulley and bicycle wheel.

The device is very effective, especially when using a bicycle drive. It will be much easier to twist your legs.

As the bicycle wheel rotates, each piston on the rope captures water and lifts it up like an elevator. The water column is poured into the outlet.

Construction # 12 - "homemade" for a small stream

This pump can use very little energy. Of course, it's good if there is a river or lake. But what if the river becomes very shallow in summer? A swing-type pump will help.

The main part of the structure consists of two buckets rigidly connected to each other through blocks (4). From the stream it is necessary to make a drainage system of galvanized steel (3). In order to reduce wear, a piece of plastic is placed under it. The drainage system is rigidly connected by a leash with a rope (5).

The entire system must be adjusted so that when one bucket is filled, the drain is moved to the second bucket. The energy of the buckets is transferred to the pump (10) by means of the crank (8).

Construction # 13 - Shukhov's wick pump

The Russian inventor Shukhov became famous for many structures, including a radio tower in Moscow. Below we will consider another of his inventions - a water pump.

The pump uses a special rope. This rope consists of braided cotton threads with a total thickness of 5-6 mm, enclosed in a sheath. The thread is passed through the pulleys.

When movement occurs, the rope gets wet and wraps around the pulleys. The pulley (5) uses the spring (4) to force the rope against the pulley (3). The squeezed water flows into the tray (7). Figure "c" shows the cross-sections of the pulleys (3) and (5), respectively.

The entire system requires an electric motor of only 5-10 watts. Typically, these motors are 1500 rpm.

To reduce the speed and increase the force, you can use the worm gear shown in Figure "c". It is quite possible to make it by hand. To do this, you need to find a suitable gear wheel, and make the worm out of wire. Small forces on the shaft allow for inaccuracies in manufacturing.

Movie # 3. The principle of operation of an elementary pump - airlift:

The presented options for homemade pumps for pumping water are made from improvised means, often even without cost. The beauty is that each design is completely open to further improvements and upgrades. So your pump is sure to be a unique piece.

Of course, hand pumps will not help to build in a summer cottage, but they will save you from the application of impressive physical efforts required to take and transport water to the place of use.

Many people want to make a hand-made water pump with their own hands. After all, if you do not need constant water, then you do not need to bear additional costs. After all, for example, it is perfect for watering.

Today we will consider several options for how to make a manual water pump with our own hands. All models are made entirely by hand. They are different in materials of manufacture and volumes of water pumping. Let's directly figure out how to make a water hand pump with our own hands.

What is a homemade pump for?

The disadvantages of all pumps offered in stores include:

  • Most of the devices must be connected to the power supply network, which is almost impossible for many summer cottages, especially during the period of their construction.
  • In addition, electricity tariffs can "bite", and in the event of a power outage, you can be left without water for an indefinite period.

All this leads to the fact that many lean homeowners want to have a backup device at their disposal for pumping water with a hand pump.

Tip: Having such a device at hand, you can always provide water to live plants in your area, or simply use the device at any critical moment.

The principle of operation of the water piston pump

The most popular device for supplying water from wells, wells or reservoirs is a pump, which is arranged in a piston type.

The principle of its operation is as follows:

  • The piston moves inside the cylinder. There are also an inlet valve and an outlet branch pipe, which can be equipped with a valve.
  • An outlet valve can be installed directly on the piston.
  • To improve the work, a spring is installed between the piston and the inlet valve, which attracts the piston to the end of the cylinder with the inlet valve.
  • When the piston moves through the cylinder, a vacuum is created, which opens the valve and draws water through the inlet pipe.
  • When the piston moves back, the inlet valve closes and fluid exits through the valve or outlet pipe.
  • These pumps are powered by muscular strength, and their performance depends on the applied forces and the volume of the cylinder.

Tip: With the help of such a pump, a full-fledged water supply cannot be provided, but at a critical moment it is quite possible for them to pump water and water the beds. Pumps are installed on shallow wells - tubular.

It is possible to make such a device independently, using a minimum set of tools and materials and having simple technological skills.

Manufacturing options

It is not difficult to do it with your own hands. To do this, first think about how much water you need.

The video in this article will help you in your work and from the photo you can visually look at such equipment. Also below will be given instructions on the rules for performing this work.

Making a pump

We assemble a pump for overflowing water with our own hands from improvised means. Despite the fact that the design itself is primitive, it is very convenient if a large amount of water is needed when working in the garden, for example, for irrigation.

So, the pump is assembled in 10 minutes, and for this you will need:

  • Hose,
  • A pipe and a couple of necks from plastic bottles.

Assembling the pump:

  • The gasket must be removed from the cork, cut by 2 mm so that it is less diameter the plug itself, that is, the plug segment should be 3 mm.
  • Drill a 10 mm hole in the center of the cover.
  • Then place the petal in the lid and screw the prepared neck from the plastic bottle so that it presses the segment that remains. The valve is inserted into the stem tube, then the second half of the cut plastic bottle is put on.
  • We put on the discharge hose (see) from the other end. The self-made device works with a few clicks along the axis of the stem when the intake part with the valve is in the water.
  • As long as there is a difference in levels, the liquid flows by gravity.

Attention: Water rises by immersing the stem in the barrel. This pump can be called a product with a negative cost, as it requires only time and waste disposal.

DIY manual pump

The manual pumping system described below can be taken as the basis for creating a stationary pumping station in a well or well.

We need:

  • Sewer pipe PVC 50 mm with several outlets, plug, sealing collars - 1m.
  • Check valve 1/2 ″ in the amount of 2 pcs, sewage pipe PPR 24 mm,
  • Also rubber, bolts and nuts with washers for 6-8 mm, several clamps, fitting clamps and other plumbing parts.

Attention: The design of the pump may not correspond to this description, since the use of spare parts is purely individual.

There are several ways to assemble such a pump.

Draining through the handle

This model is the simplest of those that can be assembled at home: the stem is made of PPR pipe, the water in it rises and pours out from above. The sleeve is made from a pipe with a diameter of 50 mm and a length of 650 mm. The pump turns out to be the simplest of the domestic ones - water rises along the piston rod, which is made of PPR pipe and is poured out from above.

So:

  • The sleeve is made from a pipe with a diameter of 50 mm and a length of 650 mm. The valve should be an annular petal: drill 10 holes with a diameter of 6 mm, cut out a round rubber flap in the amount of 3-4 pieces with a diameter of 50 mm.
  • We fix the flap in the center of the plug using bolts or rivets (a self-tapping screw will not work). Thus, we get a petal valve. You can not make the valve yourself, but cut it into the factory end cap. In this case, the cost of the pump will increase by 30%.
  • We install a plug into the sleeve using a sealant through insulation, while additionally fix it with self-tapping screws through the wall of the sleeve base.
  • The next pump element is the piston. A check valve is installed in the PPR pipe.

Attention: To do this, warm up the end of the pipe and insert a fitting with a valve that allows water to pass in the direction of the piston rod. Before cooling, the connection should be reinforced with a clamp.

  • For the manufacture of the piston head, you can use the used nose part of the 340 ml sealant. The pipe is preheated and placed in a sleeve. Thus, the head will acquire the desired shape and size.
  • Next, it is trimmed and installed in series on the check valve using a coupling having external thread, or use a flare nut.
  • We insert the piston into the base of the pump and make an upper plug, which may not necessarily be tight, but at the same time the rod must be kept straight.
  • We install the squeegee on the free end of the pipe, put a hose on it. A pump of this design is very reliable, but a little inconvenient - the water drain point is in constant motion and is located close to the operator. This view the pump can be changed slightly.

Side drain assembly

Everything is done as follows:

  • We include a tee-angle of 35 degrees in the sleeve. We make large holes in the stock pipe, while not violating the stiffness, as an option, you can use a rod stock.

Caution: In this case, the water will be lifted by the operator's return force to the pump outlet.

  • The main advantage and advantage of the described pumps is the low cost of the design. A factory valve costs about 4 dollars, a pipe about a dollar per 1 meter. And all the rest of the details will come out in the amount of 2-3 dollars.
  • We get a pump that costs less than $ 10. Repairing such pumps will also cost a penny by replacing a few “other” cheap parts.

Spiral hydraulic piston

Hand pump for water with your own hands in this design, it is a little more difficult to do. But on the other hand, it has more performance. This type of piston is most often used when pumping water from reservoirs with a current for a short distance.

So:

  • The device is based on a carousel with blades, which looks like a wheel of a water mill. It is the stream of the river that drives the wheel. And in this case, the pump serves from flexible pipe 50-75 mm spiral, which is fixed to the wheel with clamps.
  • A bucket with a diameter of 150 mm is connected to the intake part. Water will enter the pipeline through the main unit (pipe reducer). You can take it from both the factory pump and the sewer pump.
  • The gearbox must be firmly fixed to the base, which is stationary and located along the axis of the wheel.
    The maximum water rise is equal to the length of the pipe from the intake, which is in the water during operation. This distance is obtained from the point where the pump is immersed in the water to the point of exit. It is this distance that the pump's water intake bucket travels.
  • The system of operation of such a pump is simple: when it is submerged in water, a closed system with air sections is formed in the pipeline, water flows through the pipe to the center of the spiral. The only drawback of this is that we are an activator, a reservoir, so its use is not suitable for everyone.

This pump will serve as an excellent watering agent in the season. Its price depends on the material used.

Pump assembled from compressor

If you don't know what to use your existing compressor for, then this homemade pump option is for you. Thanks to its presence, it is possible to assemble a hoist from just two pipes.

So:

  • The first pipe will supply water. The pipe diameter should be 30 mm.
  • The second pipe will supply air from the compressor, the diameter of such a pipe will be 10-20 mm.
  • To create a hydraulic system in the first pipe (the one with a larger diameter), we make holes 50 mm from the edge and insert the second pipe. The knot resulting from the connection of both pipes will be in the water, and the free end will be fed to the place where the water collects.
  • The efficiency of the pump depends on the capacity of the compressor used, the depth to which the pump is submerged and the head of the water supply. The efficiency will not exceed 70% due to the peculiarities of its assembly. That is, the efficiency can be calculated if the immersion depth is divided by the sum of the immersion depth and the height of the water rise.
  • Such a pump will cost you a small amount, unless you purchase a compressor specifically for it.

You can also make manual Vacuum pump do it yourself, because there is simply no air with it. But this model is going to be a little more complicated.
