Armstrong ceiling installation. The correct way to install an armstrong suspended ceiling. Choice of tools and materials

simple technology armstrong ceiling installation allows you to mount it without even having such practice.

Let's consider this process in more detail.

Training

You will need:

  • (given below);
  • expendable materials: ceiling tiles, hanging spokes, load-bearing profiles, corner, dowel-nails 6x40 for corner, wedge anchor for hangers;
  • tools: perforator, paint thread, metal scissors, laser or hydro level, hammer, pliers, pencil and tape measure.

Installation instructions

So, how to install armstrong ceiling with your own hands? Consider the whole process step by step:

Step number 1. Marking the ceiling

First you need to determine which part of the base ceiling is the lowest. Not all floor slabs lie perfectly even, since even SNiP allows them to certain deviations from the horizontal. A level (hydro- or laser) is used to search for the lowest point. If you use a hydraulic level, then mark the perimeter of the room at any height convenient for you, especially in the corners - both on the inside and on the outside (if any). Then, using a tape measure, measure the distance from the ceiling to the mark. If you use a laser, then it is not necessary to put marks. Immediately measure the distance to the laser line. Where the value is less, there is the lowest point.

After that, we mark the place of attachment of the carrier corner, first at the lowest point, lowering it at least 15 cm from the main ceiling.

Then we measure the distance from this mark to the mark set using the hydraulic level, or to the laser line. The resulting value is transferred to the remaining corners.

Then, with the help of a paint thread, the points are connected to each other.

Step #2 Ceiling Alignment

If the ceiling is centered so that there are identical cuts on the sides, then you need to find the center of the room. To do this, measure its sides and mark their middle. We connect the opposite centers with a coloring thread - the place where they intersect on the ceiling will be the very center.

A guide profile measuring 3.7 meters will go along the long line in the future. In parallel with it, we mark other lines with a step of 1.20 m.

Note: if the undercut does not fit into the interior design, then you need to experiment with offset panels to make it smaller or larger on different sides.

In our example, the room is 4x6 meters in size and, having started the guide profile in the center of the room, the trim near the wall will be 200 mm. If you move the lines half a tile (300 mm) from the center, then the trim will be 500 mm. Almost a whole tile. Therefore, we make a shift and move on.

From the short central transverse line on all parallel long lines, it is necessary to make marks with a maximum step of 1.20 m - they will be used to attach hangers for the guides.

If the ceiling is not centered, then the lines are marked parallel to any long wall rooms at a distance of 1.20 meters from it, with a step also of 1.20 m. From the short wall of the room for suspensions on all long lines we mark points with a maximum step of 120 cm.

Step number 3. We fix the wall corners

It is very important that during installation the large edge of the corner always adjoins the wall. To connect them in the corners, we cut the ends at forty-five degrees, or we make them end-to-end.

Important! Before, you must first finish laying all the cables, pipes and ventilation system.

Step number 4. Installation of hangers

Suspensions are attached to the ceiling with the help of an anchor wedge, strictly along the previously marked points with a step of no more than 120 cm.

Step number 5. Installing the frame

L3700 main profiles have holes for hooks (you just need to hang them on them) and holes for locks of L1200 cross profiles. The main profile from the end, which rests on the corner, must be cut with scissors for metal together with the lock so that the hole for the lock of the transverse profile is under the mark into which the hanger is clogged. Keep an eye on this so that the centering of the ceiling does not go astray.

When several main profiles are installed parallel to each other, they can be fixed to each other using transverse ones, the locks of which snap into the holes of the guides. The step between them is 60 cm. By the same principle, we insert L600 into the transverse profiles. As a result, you should get a steel crate with 60x60 cm cells.

To align the frame in a horizontal position, you need to tighten or loosen the hangers with a butterfly spring.

Step #6: Installing the Ceiling Tile

The tile gets dirty easily, so it needs to be laid with clean hands or clean gloves. It is wound into the frame diagonally, unfolded and a cell is placed.

That's all Armstrong false ceiling installation, instructions which is described in this article. By following it, you will be able to do all the work yourself!

Helpful Hints

Slab cutting. Very often, when installing an armstrong ceiling, trimming of the slabs may be required, since not all rooms are a multiple of 60 cm. Those panels that need to be reduced to fit the size of the cells are cut with a paint knife.

Lamp fitting. If the ceiling involves the placement of fixtures, then their installation and connection should be started immediately after collection steel frame- before installation of plates. To do this, we put the lamp in the groove, after connecting it to the network and installing additional suspensions.

Armstrong ceiling is used for finishing ceilings in sales areas and office space. It looks nice, installs quickly, and is inexpensive. Consider in detail the installation of Armstrong ceilings.

Suspension system Armstrong

Suspended ceiling allows for hidden engineering systems. All elements of the system are made of light metal alloys (mainly aluminum), so the load on the floors is minimal.

The suspended frame consists of several types of profiles:

  • Carriers. Length 3.6 m, types T15 and T24 (determines the width of the profile).
  • Transverse. Length 0.6 and 1.2 m, types T15 and T24.
  • Corner wall profile 19/24.

The finish itself is tiles. They are available in two sizes: 595x595mm and double 1190x595mm. The second option is less popular due to the rectangular shape.

As fasteners to maintain the profiles in a hanging state, special spring-loaded spokes are used, with which you can change the installation height of the frame. Adjusting the length of the spokes allows you to align the ceiling in a horizontal plane.

The spoke is a double element consisting of three parts:

  1. a knitting needle with an eye at one end;
  2. knitting needle with a hook at the end;
  3. butterfly spring.

The first element is attached to the ceiling with anchors. A profile is put on the second. The spring can be used to adjust the height of the frame.

Finish options

Ceilings under the Armstrong brand are divided into several classes:

Mounting

In most cases, installation is carried out by companies that sell the suspension system and this service is already included in the cost of the ceiling. But sometimes you need to do the installation yourself or control the work of installers.
Installation of Armstrong is not recommended in rooms with humidity above 70%.

Training

Determine the starting point for the installation. To do this, measure each corner of the room and choose the smallest in height. This stage is preferably done after leveling the floor.

Measure from the lowest corner down the wall a size that will correspond to the distance from the base ceiling to suspended structure. The minimum indent from the base is 15 cm. If there are hidden communications under the ceiling, this size is taken into account from the lower edge of the communications (for example, from the ventilation duct).

Mark the other three corners of the room on the same level as the first. This is done using a laser or water level.

To make a straight line along the markup, use a paint cord (string breaker). This is a special thread with paint, which is pulled along the markings between two points and bent so that it springs back and leaves a direct imprint on the wall.

Now you need to determine the place of attachment of suspensions and profiles.

  1. Determine the center of the room. To do this, draw diagonal lines. The intersection point is the center of the room.
  2. Across the room, draw a line through the resulting center.
  3. Every 120 cm from the center to different sides set aside the lines along which the guide profiles will be mounted.
  4. Set aside points along the lines every 120 cm, these are the places for installing suspensions. The center point is taken as the starting point.

Installation of hangers and profiles

First of all, the wall profile is attached.

The profile is applied to the wall with a wide shelf. Fastening is done through ready-made holes with self-tapping screws, which are fastened to the wall through pre-installed plastic dowels.

According to the marks on the ceiling, holes for anchors are drilled and suspensions (knitting needles) are attached to them. To simplify installation, all hooks at the end of the spoke turn in the same direction.

Now everything is ready so that you can assemble the frame. On the guides there are ready-made through holes through which the hook engages. The edges of the profiles are laid on the wall profiles.

The distance between the crossbars is 60 cm.

The places for installing fixtures are reinforced by installing an additional suspension and crossbar.

Under the ceiling is finished construction frame, which is a crate in the form of cells measuring 60 × 60 cm. Armstrong tile is a fairly easily soiled material, so it is better to work with gloves.

Insert the tile into the cell diagonally with the edge up, unfold it in a horizontal plane and lower it at the installation site. Pay attention to the coincidence of the picture with other elements.

If necessary, the tile is cut with a knife.

Armstrong suspended ceilings are very simple and thoughtful for quick installation. This allows in short terms to finish ceilings of a large area, regardless of the quality of the base. We recommend leaving a few spare tiles in case of replacement, they can be hidden inside the structure.

Despite the obvious simplicity for non-specialists, the installation of the Armstrong ceiling is fraught with many problems and assembly nuances. Design load-bearing frame was invented by the developers more than one day, during the entire period of the existence of the hanging decor, changes and additions were constantly made to simplify the installation process. Therefore, before mounting the Armstrong ceiling, it would be right to understand in detail the sequence of work.

Armstrong ceiling device

Structurally, decorative cladding is a frame system of an independent type, on the surface of which slabs or cladding panels, completely covering the ceiling space of the room.

There are only two reasons why most customers choose to install an Armstrong false ceiling. with my own hands without resorting to the services of professional masters:

  • You can significantly reduce the cost of arranging the cladding. The cost of installing an Armstrong false ceiling is approximately ¼ for simple ceilings and ½ for complex heterogeneous systems;
  • Curiosity, the desire to try your hand at a new business, especially since the Armstrong-type suspended ceiling device looks much simpler than a frame for plasterboard lining.

The ceiling device is shown in the diagram.

Simply put, suspended ceiling- this is a frame made of a galvanized profile, which must be fixed on suspensions, leveled and reinforced with transverse struts.

Armstrong false ceiling elements

The basis of the Armstrong ceiling design is made up of several basic elements:

  • T-guide profiles made of galvanized steel;
  • Starting corners from which the installation of the Armstrong ceiling begins;
  • Crossbars 120 cm and 60 cm, with the help of which they form the supporting window of the frame for laying the decorative panel;
  • Hangers, dowels, locks and clamps;
  • Decorative plates 60x60 cm.

Of course, before making the Armstrong ceiling, you will need to stock up on tools, first of all you will need a laser or hydraulic level, a marking tape measure, a puncher and metal shears.

Note! The ceiling of the Armstrong system is the only one of its kind, the installation of which can be done almost alone, without assistants.

If you have experience, it will take at least 10-12 hours to work, if this is the first installation attempt, then before trying to install the Armstrong ceiling, you need to stock up detailed map performance of work.

Ceiling Armstrong installation scheme

The main feature of the design is that any errors and imperfections usually lead to significant losses. Why? Because it will not be possible to install the Armstrong ceiling with your own hands, cutting out the necessary details from the profile blanks, as is the case with the frame for plasterboard lining.

In fact, this is one big constructor that needs to be properly assembled using the Armstrong suspended ceiling installation technology. If something breaks, you will need to buy a new kit or part. It will be useful to watch the Armstrong ceiling mounting option video

Assembly preparation

Initially, before the first stages of installation, you will need to remove the detailed layout of the room. Not dimensions - length and width, but dimensions that allow you to see how the contour of the room differs from a regular square or rectangle. This is important in order to correctly select the mounting points of the Armstrong ceiling and the undercut line of the extreme row.

Usually, according to the results of the measurement, a situation similar to that shown in the diagram is obtained.

In addition, it will be useful to measure the distance from the floor to the floor slab, this will allow you to choose the right installation level. The minimum height of the Armstrong ceiling, more precisely, the ceiling space, is 150 mm; on very curved floor slabs, one of the edges can be mounted at a distance of up to 100 mm. It makes no sense to do less, as suspensions may not fit.

Profile mounting features

After the layout has been determined, the shape of the room, it is necessary to arrange the installation scheme of the profile. Guides and cross beams will have to be joined using locking devices located at the ends of the profiles. A reliable and durable connection is only achieved if the installation of the support bar and the cross profile is carried out strictly at right angles.

Therefore, the layout of the future false ceiling is tied to right angle rooms. The beveled edge will be filled with undercut sections of the profile, but the installation of the load-bearing beams must be carried out in strictly parallel lines. In this case, it will be necessary to increase the number of hangers, since the beveled edge of the frame will rest on the wall corner.

How to draw up a scheme for mounting and installing suspensions

The diagram below shows two examples. possible installation profiles and plates. According to the norms, the mounting of the Armstrong false ceiling should be planned in such a way that the distance between the suspension points does not exceed 1200 mm, while the suspension mounting point on the ceiling should be removed horizontally by 450 mm, no more.

In case A indoors, installation under seven ceiling tiles, of which five are full, 600 mm each, and two edged, 150 mm each. In total, 3300 mm is obtained, the horizontal size. As a result, a reduced distance, less than 2/3 of the length of the slab, leads to a violation of the installation conditions and will necessarily cause deflection of the cross beams. In case B, the ceiling set is formed from four whole and two panels cut to 450 mm. This option can be considered optimal.

In the same way, a deflection occurs if the distance between the hangers is greater than 1200 mm, and the distance of the hanger line from the wall exceeds 450 mm. In this case, for installation, you have to look for a more unloaded version of the installation of Armstrong profiles.

In addition, there are requirements for the parallelism of the guide beam axes, the difference in distances between parallel points at the beginning of the profile and at the end should not exceed 7 mm. After the installation of the profile on the ceiling, the difference in diagonals on any element of the suspended ceiling window should not exceed 2 mm.

Advice! If you have to join the guide strips, then the places with locks are best placed in a checkerboard pattern.

How hangers are mounted

Below are the optimized installation schemes for the bearing profiles of the Armstrong suspended ceiling, depending on the load.

Schemes 1 and 4 are used for standard mounting suspended ceiling, equipped with standard decorative plates 600x600 mm, each weighing no more than 2 kg. Schemes 2, 5, 6 are used for heavy panels or subject to additional installation luminaires that are not included in the class of specialized light sources for Armstrong ceilings. In this case, the number of suspension points increases along the line of junction with the wall and in the central part of the frame.

Suspensions can be located without observing a checkerboard pattern. For example, in the diagram below, the number of hangers was increased, but the fasteners were mounted in a triangle or rocade. Most importantly, the distance between the fixing points of the ceiling frame should not exceed 1200 mm.

Armstrong ceiling assembly

After all the issues have been resolved, once again the conformity of the profiles, the serviceability of the locks, suspensions have been checked, it has been found out how to assemble the Armstrong ceiling, you can proceed to the direct installation of the frame.

First of all, the marking of the location on the walls of the starting corner-profile is carried out. The fact that the system will look like a single plane, or the surface will turn out to be wavy or “littered” into one of the corners of the room depends on how accurate the installation of the wall corner rail will be. General provisions how to assemble an Armstrong ceiling. It will be useful to learn how to properly adjust the ceiling frame.

For marking, only a laser or hydraulic level is used, it is recommended that you first apply a contour line to the walls, and only then proceed with installation. The corner is attached to the walls with ordinary dowels with polypropylene inserts, in increments of 20 cm.

After the corner is assembled, you can proceed with the installation of the guide beams. Each rail must first be checked for settlement between two corners, after which it is fixed with end locks.

Installation of crossbars and panel decor

The next step is the installation of transverse strips with a length of 1200 mm, for the installation of side connections, the end locks are engaged with the windows in the carrier profile and aligned with the markings. After sealing a large transverse profile, it is best to immediately put the suspensions that hold this sector of the structure.

To do this, select a point above the nearest group of holes in the carrier beam and use a perforator to concrete slab punch a hole for a dowel with a loop. Often, in parallel with the installation of the frame cross members, the suspended ceiling is wired to the ceiling hooks. Until the system is fully assembled and loaded decorative panels, the design remains quite mobile.

Next, you need to install the crossbars with a length of 600 mm, they are inserted into the false ceiling frame, sequentially moving around the perimeter of the room. Lastly, the correct trimming of the side rails adjacent to the wall is checked.

Often, one row is laid on the undercut section of the suspension system before installation is completed. decorative plates to make sure there is no strong deformations profile. If the room wall is found to be too curved, it may be necessary to first cut and install a buffer16 row of cut tiles. At the same time, they tighten and adjust the length of the suspensions, and since the weight of the cut ceiling tiles different, you may need to install additional suspensions.

At the final stage, the final laying of decorative plates on ceiling frame. This is done very simply. It is enough to carefully insert the plate into the frame window, align it in a horizontal position and lay it on the frame profile shelves.

Conclusion

Installation of an Armstrong false ceiling is not particularly difficult, but requires care in working with profiles. After completion of the work, the assembled suspended ceiling is allowed to stand so that the structure settles under the weight of the decor, and all deflections and areas with the maximum level of profile deformation become visible. After a couple of hours, you can open the lining and tighten the suspensions. A similar procedure is carried out for large or very long rooms with mirror panels, for small rooms Correction is usually performed immediately after the decor is laid.

Armstrong ceiling installation procedure

Installation of suspended ceiling Armstrong can be divided into several main stages:

I. Installation of wall corner (corner profile)

The corner profile of the Armstrong ceiling system is installed on the walls along the perimeter of the room in a horizontal plane. The horizontal marking line is usually set using a hydraulic level or a laser level. Direct fastening to the walls is carried out using expansion dowels, anchors or self-tapping screws with a step of no more than 0.5 m.

II. Installation of load-bearing rails and spring hangers

Carrier rails 3.6 m or 3.7 m long are installed in 1.2 m increments parallel to one of the walls or at a certain angle relative to the walls with a diagonal design of the mounted ceiling. With insufficient length of the carrier rails, they are easily interconnected using the available special locks.

Along with the installation of the carrier rails, spring suspensions are installed. The suspension rod with an eye is attached to the ceiling with the help of expansion dowels, anchors or self-tapping screws, the suspension rod with a hook - through a special hole to the carrier rail. The suspension spring clip allows you to adjust the distance between ceiling and a suspension system, securely fixing both rods together. Spring hangers are installed at a distance of no more than 1.2 m from each other and no more than 0.6 m from the wall.

III. Installing the cross rails of the frame

Cross rails 1.2m are installed perpendicular to the carrier rails 3.6m in increments of 0.6m from one of the walls and between them.

Cross rails 0.6m are installed perpendicular to the rails 1.2m, i.e. parallel to the carrier rails 3.6 m with a step of 1.2 m from each other.

IV. Installation of raster lamps

If the Armstrong suspended ceiling involves the placement of 600x600mm raster lamps, then we proceed to this stage immediately after installing the 0.6m rails, i.e. after the completion of the assembly of the ceiling lathing. Remember that a false ceiling is not load-bearing structure, so recessed luminaires are installed on additional suspensions.

An attractive ceiling is one of the conditions for a good appearance of the room. Therefore, when repairing this issue, a lot of attention is paid. But making the ceiling attractive is more difficult than the walls - more difficult conditions work. If you need to quickly, inexpensively put this part of the room in order - your choice is the Armstrong ceiling. This is a quick-mount suspension system that offers a lot of possibilities.

System device

Suspended ceiling Armstrong consists of a system of profiles, with the help of suspensions attached to the draft ceiling. These profiles form square or rectangular cells in which luminaires and slabs are installed. All this together is ceiling system armstrong.

Ceiling Armstrong - one of the options

Profiles are bearing (guides). It is they who are attached to the draft ceiling through suspensions and carry the main load. total weight the entire system is small, therefore guides are installed every 120 cm. Hangers are mounted along the marked lines with a step of 50 cm. There are hooks in their lower part, and there are holes in the guides. The guides are simply hung on hooks. After that, we received parallel guides spaced in 120 cm increments.

Between them with the same step - 120 cm - a transverse profile is installed. As a result, we get a cage of 120 cm * 120 cm. Armstrong suspended ceiling slabs have a size of 60 * 60 cm (to be precise, then 598 mm * 598 mm). To install them, frame profiles are also attached - to get a cage with the right size. After that, it remains only to mount the lamps and install them in the plate cells.

Advantages and disadvantages

Initially, Armstrong ceilings were developed for use in industrial, service and public buildings. But a number of excellent qualities have led to the fact that they are also used in private houses and apartments. Here is a list of properties of suspended ceilings such as Armstrong:

The Armstrong ceiling is truly a wonderful product. Probably because he was so fond of the owners of offices, shopping centers, cinemas, etc. But there are also disadvantages. The first - appearance this ceiling is ideal for an office or public premises, but in private premises, not everyone perceives them. But this is a matter of taste. The second is a suspended system and “eats” the height of the ceilings, with which many people already have problems. But if the ceilings are more or less normal, this system can be installed. That's all the cons.

System elements

The Armstrong ceiling system consists of a set of elements that are easily interconnected. One of its advantages is modularity, which allows you to get a ceiling of any size and configuration. The problem is only with non-linear forms - they are not provided and there are no regular solutions. Therefore, this type of suspended ceiling is used only in square and rectangular rooms.

Profiles

Armstrong ceiling profiles are made of light aluminum alloy. On the upper part of the profiles there is a perforation, with the help of which they are attached to the hangers and joined together. The lower part of the profiles - the one that is visible from the room - may have a silver color, but more often it is white. There are also black and gold, you can find other colors, but you have to look for them.

Profile length 600 mm, 1200 mm, 3600 mm. Bearing profiles must be solid (if necessary, they can be spliced), therefore we select the length so that the profile is not shorter than the room. It is cut into pieces desired length.

You dial the transverse profiles partially with a length of 120 cm, partially - 60 cm. You will have to consider how many you need to create a suspension system in your case. Cutting them will not work - protrusions are made along the edges, with the help of which they are joined to the carriers.

Bearing and cross profiles are available in two sizes - under different types plates: with a shelf of 15 mm and 24 mm. The “back” is also different - for different thicknesses of the plates (19 mm, 24 mm and 29 mm).

There are also wall profiles. They are made in the form of a corner, mounted around the perimeter of the room. The end plates rest on them. They are also available with shelves of different sizes - 19 mm and 24 mm.

Plates

Armstrong suspended ceiling tiles come in two sizes - 120 cm * 60 cm and 60 cm * 60 cm. The second option is more common, perhaps because squares are better perceived than rectangles. There are more of them different thickness— from 6 mm to 19 mm. The greater the thickness, the greater the degree of sound insulation such a ceiling has, but in many respects this characteristic depends on the material from which the plates are made. And they are of several types:

  • Economy class The cheapest of all, they are highly hygroscopic and do not tolerate high humidity. They absorb moisture in the forehead - in the form of a liquid when flooded by neighbors from above or from the air. Having been saturated with moisture, they become heavy, begin to change shape - to bend, which spoils the appearance. In general, the option is cheap, but feels good in rooms with climate control and constant humidity. This group includes Oasis (Oasis) and Oasis +, Cortega (Gortega), Tatra (Tatra), Bajkal (Baikal).

  • Prima class. These are more expensive panels, but they are much better in terms of performance. Firstly, they are more durable, have increased resistance to moisture (85% versus 65% for the Economy class). They are better in terms of sound insulation and appearance. This group includes the collections Adria (Adria), Casa (Casa), Cirrus (Cirrus), Plain (Plain), Duna + (Dune plus).

    Prima class slabs

  • Moisture resistant. This kind of false ceiling tiles can be used in wet rooms or when high humidity air. There are two types of Mylar (Mular), Newtone Residence (Newton Residence).

  • Acoustic. They have improved sound absorption characteristics. Are suitable for installation in trading floors, offices. Available in two types: Neeva (Niiva), Frequence (Frekvens).
  • Hygienic. These plates are well washed, designed for medical institutions and food industry enterprises. There is only one view - Bioguard (Bioguard).

Acoustic and hygienic - for specific applications

  • Designer. These armstrong ceiling tiles are significantly different in appearance from all the others. They are used in the design of clubs, restaurants, bars. They have a presentable, and sometimes luxurious look, but they already cost a lot. There are several modifications: Visual (Vizhual), Cellio (Sellio), Graphis Linear (Grafis Liner), Cirrus Image (Cirrus Image).

Above, we talked about authentic stoves manufactured by Armstrong. There are other types and types produced by other companies. The name and appearance may differ, but the categorization is about the same.

For example, there are metal plates - white, made of whole sheet and perforated different size and shapes, there are painted in different colors, there are made of plastic - translucent and with applied photo printing. In general, various plates are built into this system.

Another point: the plates on the Armstrong ceiling have a ledge along the edges. This ledge comes in different widths and depths. Under the dimensions of this protrusion, the type of profile is selected. It can be the other way around, but they should fit together.

Suspensions and how they can be replaced

Hangers for Ceilings Armstrong have a hole in the upper part for installing fasteners, in the lower part - a hook that holds the profile. The upper part is attached to the ceiling with dowels or other fasteners (depending on the floor materials).

Of all this variety, the option with two hairpins is most often used (in the photo above - the third on the right and in the photo below). These suspensions are inexpensive, quickly assembled, and allow you to easily adjust the height of the ceiling when it becomes necessary to set it in one plane.

But these hangers have minimum height 25 cm. This is a lot even in some offices, and even more so in houses and apartments. The way out is to shorten the studs (as in the upper photo on the right) or use improvised materials. The most suitable are steel studs with a ring at the end and a piece of elastic steel wire. The disadvantage of this mount is that it is difficult to adjust the height of the suspension. You will have to make them exactly the length that they are needed.

Dowels with hooks at the ends are also suitable. But here, too, additional wire hooks will be needed, since too small a distance to the ceiling will not allow laying the plates - you need room to maneuver. The minimum distance between the main and suspended ceilings is 25 mm and this will be very inconvenient. It is desirable to have at least 50 mm. But this is only if lamps or fans are not installed in the ceiling.

Luminaires and ventilation grilles

Regular lamps and ventilation grates good for offices trading floors, public and medical institutions. They are the same size as the slabs and are simply installed in the selected location. There are no problems with connecting lamps - a vast ceiling space allows you to bring the wires of the desired section without problems. They are placed in metal trays mounted on the ceiling or.

In apartments and houses, standard lamps look at least strange, and their power is clearly greater than necessary. In this case, they usually use . It is better to take with LEDs - they almost do not heat up and consume little electricity, but they give enough light.

The use of ventilation grilles in houses and apartments is rather an exceptional case. The system itself is not hermetic, many of the plates are perforated, which provides a sufficient degree of ventilation of the space above the ceiling. If, nevertheless, additional holes are needed, you can either use the regular grille or build in a smaller one by cutting a suitable hole in the plate.

Armstrong ceiling installation

Assembling the Armstrong ceiling is simple: you need a drill, suitable fasteners (dowels or self-tapping screws, depending on the floor material), it’s nice to have, but you can get by with water and bubble ones. For cutting profiles, you can use metal scissors, or you can use a grinder with a cutting disc or a hacksaw with a metal blade.

Armstrong suspended ceiling installation technology steps look like this:

  1. We mark on the walls the level at which it will be located false ceiling. It is easier to do this with a level, more difficult with a bubble level.
  2. We fix the wall profile along the intended line. There are profiles with different width shelves, do not confuse during installation - the shelf must have the same size as that of the profiles. Fix to the walls with suitable fasteners every 50 cm.

  3. Having attached the wall profiles, we measure the required length of the supporting profile and cut it off right amount pieces. At the same time, please note that not always the dimensions of the room are a multiple of 60 cm. In most cases, you have to cut the extreme plates. There is nothing wrong with this, but it is necessary to correctly develop a plan for placing the plates on the ceiling - the “undercut” must be dispersed on both sides. But this must be done so that there are no narrow stripes along the edges (see the figure).

  4. On the ceiling we mark the fastening lines of the guide profiles. They are installed after 120 cm, that is, there will be fewer load-bearing profiles than cells. On these lines every 50 cm we install suspensions.

  5. On the installed suspensions we hang the carrier profiles cut into segments of the required length. The profiles are perforated. We put a hook into one of the holes and press it in to hold it tighter. We start the edges of the supporting profiles into the already installed wall profile.

  6. We take transverse profiles 120 cm long, install them by inserting the protrusions at the edges into the cutouts on the carrier profile. The result is a grid of rectangular cells 120 * 60 cm.
  7. We take short transverse profiles of 60 cm each and insert them so that a grid with a cell of 60 * 60 cm is obtained. The fastening is the same - the ledge is inserted into the cutout.

  8. We expose all suspensions so that the ceiling is in the same plane. Again, a level can help here ( laser level), but you can get by with the usual construction.
  9. We put plates into the resulting system. We turn them sideways, carefully wind them up, then lower them into place. You need to work with clean hands - the plates get dirty. If necessary, they are cut with an ordinary clerical knife (place it on a flat, clean surface, apply a ruler or a rule along the cut line, draw it along with a clerical knife, pressing it well).

There you are step-by-step instruction by Armstrong's editing. Everything is really easy. It is only necessary to first think over the plan for the location of the plates and find out for yourself where, at what distance from the walls the supporting profiles will pass. Then everything is assembled as a constructor.

An option for a cafe, but the same or similar will look good in a modern interior
