Business idea for growing an apple orchard. Growing apples as a business: profitability, reviews Business selling apples reviews

Food is a commodity that will always be bought, no matter what the circumstances. Therefore, a business in agriculture can be very profitable with proper planning and prudent attitude. One of the ways to start your own business is growing an apple orchard.

Previously, to start making money on apples, you had to wait 5-7 years. However, using advanced apple planting and growing methods gives you the opportunity to harvest as early as next year. This article will guide you through the investment required and also introduce you to the basics of planting and caring for an apple orchard.

Starting a business in this area should begin with the registration of SNT. The documents must be submitted to the tax office and within 8 days it will be registered. In this case, you must pay a state fee.

We use advanced technologies

The decisive factor for the development of the apple business is its location and the variety of trees grown. But thanks to the annual development of technology, it is possible to shorten the growing period. If you follow our recommendations, you can get:

  1. In one year - 15 t / ha.
  2. In four years - 35 t / ha.
  3. In six years - 50 t / ha.

It should be noted that the success of this technology largely depends on correct pruning crowns and how tall varieties will be planted. The most popular tall varieties are:

  • Golden Delicious
  • Jonared
  • Idored
  • Starking
  • Steiman
  • Royal Delicious
  • Red Delicious

Before choosing a variety, make sure it is suitable for your climatic region.

This business plan is designed for an area of 1 hectare. Trees must be planted in such a way that their number is within 2-5 thousand. It is recommended to apply one of the international standards- dwarf stock M9. By grafting trees to it, you will reduce the fruiting period to one year. It should be noted that this technology has significant disadvantage: the roots are too close to the surface of the ground, so the frost resistance of the trees is -11 degrees Celsius. In order to adapt the roots of an apple tree to a low temperature, you need to sprinkle them with earth.

Getting ready to plant trees

It is best to prepare the ground in the fall and plant trees in the spring. This process needs to be carefully thought out, because apple trees should not cast shadows on each other. If you find it difficult to create the circuit, it is recommended that you consult with a professional.

Taking care of the garden

Your well-being is directly dependent on the condition of the garden, so you need to constantly look after it. Here are some rules:

  • Free the soil around the tree from weeds
  • It is forbidden to cultivate the soil with a garden cutter. It is recommended to use dry needles for this. conifers or herbicides (simazine, kerb, fosulene and others). It should be noted that processing can be done only in calm weather.
  • Protect apple trees from insects with insecticides such as benzophosphate or oleocobrite

The seedling must be watered with 3-4 buckets of water. Then you can water through a well (pump) or system drip irrigation... By the way, using such a system saves water, labor costs and time.

As for trimming the seedling, you need to leave 6 buds, starting from the height of the stamp. Cut the grass between rows. However, if you use a mower, the cut grass can be used to cover the soil or to feed pets.

Supports are a prerequisite for good tree growth. For example, you can use concrete poles 1 to 2 meters high, set with a tensioned wire at a distance of 25 meters. Antiseptic-treated pine colas are another option.

We sell apples

There are several options for selling goods:

  1. With a small number of products, the main modes of sale are markets, wholesale customers and culinary.
  2. With large yields, customers may include supermarkets, wine and cider producers.

Apple trees should be planted in accordance with their variety. Since apples are highly valued by wholesalers and regular buyers, build a warehouse if possible. It is worth noting that you will receive especially large profits from the sale of goods in winter.

Briefly about numbers

Thanks to the use of technologies of intensive development, your business will become industrial in 3-4 years, and every year you will receive a stable profit. The price of one seedling starts at 180 rubles.

Thus, the one-time costs for arranging the garden are:

  1. Registration of SNT - 12,000 rubles.
  2. Saplings - 360-900 thousand rubles.
  3. The cost of designing a garden is 3000 rubles.
  4. 3,700 rubles will be needed to prepare the soil.
  5. Planting seedlings will take 300 thousand rubles out of your pocket.
  6. The organization of watering will take 4,000 rubles.
  7. Installation of supports costs 320 thousand rubles.
  8. The cost of special equipment is 3.08 million rubles.

As a result, one-time costs are (at maximum costs) equal to 4.6 million rubles.

In addition, there are annual costs:

  1. Herbicides and fertilizers - 15.5 thousand rubles.
  2. Watering - 85 thousand rubles.
  3. Garden security - 20 thousand per month (for one employee).
  4. Seasonal workers - 20 thousand per month (for one employee).

A couple of subtleties:

  1. Security should be hired only when the fruit is ripe.
  2. Seasonal workers are only needed when harvesting.
  3. As for the rest, it is recommended to reduce the number of employees as much as possible. If possible, try doing it yourself or involve your family.

The initial financial investments will pay off in about 3-4 years. During the season, the cost of apples is 50 rubles / kg, and in winter it will increase by 3-4 times. If you find spoiled fruits, then they can be sold for 20 rubles.

In the first year you will receive 750 thousand rubles "clean" - that is, each tree will give you 8 kg of harvest. This figure will grow every year.

Over time, in the apple orchard, or nearby, it makes sense to place an apiary. This me is quite cost-effective and for it you have room and enough flowering plants... You can do it yourself or hire an experienced beekeeper.

The article examines the basics of drafting business plan... Apples are a product of mass consumption, they are relevant and in demand at any time of the year. Thanks to modern technology, it is no longer necessary to wait a long time for trees to begin to bear fruit, to receive big harvest you can already for the next year.

Growing apples as a business
Detailed calculation of costs and benefits

In the agricultural business, the most valuable asset is land. And in order to increase the profitability of your business, it is important to use it to the maximum. Considering such a business as growing apples, we suggest you "save" your land. To do this, it is enough to pay attention to a relatively new variety of apple trees - columnar.
These apple trees are the result of an unplanned cell mutation. At the same time, the fruits of the tree have not lost their taste and useful properties... But from a business point of view, these apple tree species are very economical, since they do not take up much space and begin to bear fruit already for 2-3 years. More business ideas can be found in the article:

Growing apples as a business: costs

It is better to buy columnar seedlings at 2 years of age. Then, in the year of planting on them, you can already expect the appearance of fruits. As two-year-old trees, columnar apple trees yield about 8 kg of yield, and in the third year and above - 10 kg each.
So, let's consider an "apple" business on 10 acres of land. This area will accommodate about 200 columnar apple trees. Today, many varieties of this tree have been bred, the average price of which is about 800 rubles per 1 seedling. We need 200 pieces - 160,000 rubles.

The root system of columnar apple trees is weak and lies in the upper layers of the soil. Therefore, it is necessary to periodically add to it nutrients... For the initial fertilization of the soil during planting, you will need superphosphate and potash fertilizers (100 g each). It will cost about 30 rubles for each tree, and for all 200 - 6,000 rubles.
At the same time, it will be necessary to apply fertilizers to the soil every month, the average cost of which will be about 4,000 rubles for the entire 1,000m2.
As you can see, there is nothing complicated and unusual in such a business as growing apples. It is enough just to plow the land and plant seedlings in it.
Let's summarize the costs calculated above:
Purchase of seedlings - 160,000 rubles
Fertilizing the soil when planting - 6,000 rubles
Monthly soil fertilization - 4,000 rubles
Total: 166,000 rubles and 4,000 rubles a month.

Profit from the sale of apples

As mentioned above, in the first year of planting, your apple trees will give results. If you collect 8 kg from each apple tree, you will receive 1 600 kg. The average selling price of apples in Russia per 1 kg is 30 rubles. That is, from the sold 1.6 tons, you will receive 48,000 rubles. And already next year and in the future you will receive about 60,000 rubles from the sale.
Fruits on the apple tree appear as long as the weather conditions permit.

If your climatic conditions permit, you can harvest such a crop for a month. In this case, profit minus expenses will be 56,000 rubles per month.

Conclusion

Living in countryside, do not miss the chance to create your own business selling organic products. After all, it is precisely such a product that is highly valued both among private buyers and among wholesalers. And in our other articles you can find similar proposals for the productive use of 10 acres of rural land.

Growing a turkey. Profitable business with minimal investment! Growing potatoes for sale. Profitable seasonal business. Cultivation of champignon mushrooms as a business. Profitable, quick payback investment.

The best pastime is growing any kind of earth crops. Whether it is a garden or a vegetable garden, in the spring, summer and autumn time only he occupies the heads of gardeners. As they say, with age, a person is more and more drawn to the ground, and this is true, because it is difficult to find someone over forty years old without the desire to plant at least a houseplant.

The apple orchard will become a favorite vacation spot and a good idea for business without a large investment of money. But still it needs to be planted correctly and spend time caring for trees and soil.

Methods for placing apple trees

When planting trees, you need not just mindlessly plant seedlings in a chaotic manner, but take into account the weather conditions, the variety of apple trees, the type of soil and the terrain. There are several types of tree planting:

  • rectangle;
  • staggered;
  • strip;
  • outline.

There is different types apple trees by the ripening period, for example, if it is early apple tree, then it will bear fruit from 10.06 to 01.07, if it is a summer apple tree, then from 01.07 to 10.08, late or autumn varieties bear fruit from 10.08 to 10.09, and, finally, winter apples can be harvested from 10.09 to 20.10.

Before planting, it is necessary to mark the places where the trees will be. Each of them needs space. The distance between trees should be no less than 4-5 m to buildings and annexes, as well as no less than 5-6 m between rows. It is good if, when placing, the apple garden is combined with a shrub, for example, currants or gooseberries. Thanks to this solution, you can both increase the planting density and leave enough space for each tree.

Landing features

You can plant an apple orchard both in spring and in autumn. Pits for seedlings should be made 15 days before planting. Pit sizes: depth - 50 cm, width and length - 70-80 cm. During the survival of seedlings, every 20-25 days, watering should be carried out with a slight loosening of the earth, 2-3 waterings are enough.

Fruit garden: features

Under orchard understand the presence of fruit trees and Even on an ordinary plot of 6 acres of land, such a garden will become a real decoration, and the spring bloom and smells will drive you crazy. Any trees can be used in it: pears and cherries, apricots, peaches. And any berry bushes: raspberries, black and red currants, blueberries, gooseberries.

It is worth choosing trees and shrubs with different terms ripening, then the fruits will delight the whole summer. This is especially true for those who plant a garden for business and are going to sell fruits and berries.

If you want to set up a garden at your dacha and are choosing a site to buy, consider such an option as a collective garden. Land there will not be so expensive, and plots are located, as a rule, in a favorable place for planting fruit trees. In addition, there you can meet people with similar interests and learn from them necessary information on the placement and care of trees.

Apple orchard - is it a profitable business?

If you decide to go into the gardening business, then you did the right thing. And it is best to start with apples, because they give a large harvest. An apple orchard does not require long-term investment. Spending money for the first time, for example, in 2016, and purchasing different varieties apples, in a year it will be possible to remove 10 apples from each tree, by 2018 you will have 20 t / ha of apples, and in another year this figure will almost double.

Choosing a garden in which different fruit trees, it should be borne in mind that the harvest from apricots and pears is less, however, the fruits are more expensive. But at the same time they are more capricious, they need to be kept in a special place and properly transported.

The larger the garden, the greater the profit from it, because in this case, apples and other fruits can not be sold independently, but you can conclude contracts and take them to industrial processing (the easiest way), as well as stock up some and sell them in winter time before New Year.

Industrial cultivation of apples. Apple orchard as a business. Intensive technology of growing apple trees: photo, video.

Today we will talk about industrial gardening, and in particular about growing the most popular fruit - the apple.

On this moment in our country, the main share of the apple market is imported products from Poland and Turkey, domestic products occupy less than 30% of the market.

Modern industrial horticulture requires considerable investment, besides, horticulture, like the agricultural business, has its share of risk, and this applies primarily to weather conditions, a sudden drought, hurricane or severe frost can ruin the crop and the plantings themselves.

But with the application modern technologies the percentage of risk can be reduced, the same drip irrigation will avoid the loss of seedlings and crops from a sudden drought, and above-crown irrigation will reduce losses from sudden spring frosts.

Another very important point apple business- the payback period of investments, here the technology of growing an apple orchard plays an important role.

Technologies for growing apple orchards:

  • Extensive on seed stock.
  • On medium-sized (semi-dwarf) rootstocks.
  • Intense on dwarf rootstocks.

If we talk about the classic extensive technology used in 70% of industrial gardens, then the first harvest can be obtained in 6 years after planting apple seedlings, and reach the industrial level only in 7-9 years (active fruiting phase). Accordingly, throughout this period, care is required for the seedlings: watering, hilling, pruning, pest control and the prospect of making a profit is rather vague.

But if, when laying a garden, we apply an intensive technology of growing apple trees with drip irrigation, then you can get the first harvest for 3, and in some cases even 2 years after planting already grafted seedlings. At correct agricultural technology for 3 years it is already possible to get a yield of about 20 t / ha from an intensive garden, for 6 - 7 years up to 50 t / ha.

Intensive technology for the apple business.

So, what is the intensive technology of growing apple trees.

The intensive technology of growing apple trees is based on the use of tall varieties on dwarf rootstocks, which significantly increases the planting density of 2000 - 5000 trees. per 1 hectare. Another very important point is special technique trimming the crowns of growing trees, which allows you to solve the problem of shading of neighboring seedlings.

Intensive apple growing technology has its drawbacks:

  • The location of the root system of the dwarf stock in the upper soil layer, respectively, the low frost resistance of the root system up to - 10 - 11 ° С.
  • The root system of a dwarf stock requires more frequent watering, an irrigation system will be needed.
  • The crowns of trees in an intensive garden require special pruning like a spindle and the installation of additional supporting trellises.

But all these disadvantages of intensive technology cover such advantages:

  • High yield of apple trees up to 50 t / ha.
  • Early harvests 2 - 3 years after planting (industrial volumes for 4 - 5 years).
  • The low crown (3 - 3.5 m) of trees allows you to more quickly harvest, and effectively spray from pests.

The intensive technology itself is not new and has long been successfully used in Western countries, so the advantages of its use are obvious.

Peculiarities of apple agrotechnology with intensive technology.

Garden laying.

For laying a garden with intensive agricultural technology on low-growing rootstocks, flat areas with the most fertile soil are used with the possibility of drip irrigation.

For the cultivation of apple trees, it is optimal to use medium loam, ordinary chernozem, gray, dark gray forest soils.

In terms of mechanical composition, medium, light loams are suitable. Apple trees are short-lived on carbonate soils, the rate of carbonate content in the soil layer 0.8 m by mass of lime does not exceed 12%.

Selection of apple varieties for planting.

It is advisable to grow economically profitable varieties, transportable fruits, with a long shelf life, mainly winter varieties.

The most popular apple varieties are:

  • Champion.
  • Jonagold.
  • Golden Delicious.
  • Gloucester.
  • Idared.
  • Florina.
  • Ligol.
  • Eliza.
  • Rosavka.
  • Pinov.

You need to decide on the stock, the most popular are the following stocks:

M-9- dwarf rootstock, fruiting 2-3 years after planting, high yield.

MM-106- semi-dwarf rootstock root system is more frost-resistant than M-9.

Preparing the soil for planting apple trees.

Soil analysis, calculation of the rate of mineral fertilizers, application of organic and mineral fertilizers.

Organic fertilizer rate:

  • Gray forest soil - 70 t / ha of humus.
  • Chernozem type soils - 50 t / ha.

Planting apple seedlings.

Planting can be done in autumn in October, or in early spring. For planting seedlings with a well-developed root system, pits with a diameter of 0.5 m are required; a tractor with a mounted drill is used to dig holes.

The most common planting scheme on dwarf rootstocks is 4 meters apart, the distance between seedlings in a row is from 0.6 to 2 meters.

You can plant on the M-9 rootstock, with row spacing of less than 4 meters, but then small-sized equipment will be needed to work in the garden.

After planting, a drip irrigation system is immediately installed.

Pruning and shaping the crown of apple trees.

If already crowned seedlings are planted, then they are not cut off after planting, if seedlings are without a crown, they are cut at a level of 0.9 m from the soil level. As the seedlings grow, shoots are removed in the root zone - 0.6 m from the soil.

Most important stage crown formation, intensive technology uses pruning and crown formation a slender spindle, the shape of the crown resembles a rounded spindle with a base of about 3 meters.

When forming the crown, you will need to install supporting trellises.

Irrigation of an apple orchard.

Intensive technology requires frequent watering, the best option drip irrigation.

  • The iron content is 3-5 mg per liter.
  • The content of carbonates per HCO 3- anion is up to 4 mmol / 1 liter.
  • With a neutral reaction (pH = 7).
