Polypropylene pipes. Technical characteristics of polypropylene pipes Polypropylene pipe pH 10 25

In construction, synthetic materials successfully replace metal: they are on average cheaper, more durable (because they are not subject to corrosion), easier to install and lighter. Consider what polypropylene pipes are - technical characteristics, types, application features.

There are three types of polypropylene for pipes:

  • homopolymer (PPH);
  • copolymers (PPB);
  • Ethylene static copolymer (PPRC), aka random copolymer. Ethylene provides high thermal stability. Polypropylene pipes and heating fittings of this type can tolerate temperatures up to 110 ºC for a short time. They are used most often.

The physical and mechanical characteristics of PPR are regulated by existing standards:

  • in accordance with GOST 21553, the melting point of the material is + 149 ºC;
  • according to GOST 15139 PPR density - 0.9 grams per cubic centimeter;
  • according to 11262 tension (yield strength) - 24-25 N / sq. mm, elongation when it is reached - 50%:
  • tensile strength - 34-35;
  • according to 15173 coefficient of thermal expansion - 0.15 mm per mms;
  • to 23630 specific heat– 2 kJ per kgf (at +20 ºC);
  • according to DIN (German standard) - thermal conductivity 0.24 watts per m / s (at +20 ºC).

The benefits of PPR pipes include:

  • non-susceptibility to corrosion and decay, high durability (for pipes for heating and hot water - 50 years, for cold water - 100);
  • sediment does not collect on the walls, which often "overgrow" metal pipes. Over time, the diameter of the inner channel does not change;
  • the cost is lower than that of metal products;
  • weight is on average 9 times less than that of metal of the same section;
  • simple and inexpensive repair. Polypropylene does not need to be painted regularly, the replacement of damaged units is carried out without expensive equipment;
  • sections of pipes are interconnected by welding (the so-called "ironing" for polypropylene). Connections are one-piece and most reliable. Quantity threaded connections(through which leaks most often occur) in the system is minimized;
  • plastic has low thermal conductivity: heat losses through walls and accumulation are minimized;
  • sound insulation (as opposed to sound-conducting metal pipes);
  • due to the plasticity of the material, the pipes do not burst when the coolant freezes in cold weather;
  • high chemical resistance;
  • ecological cleanliness;
  • resistance to fungal infections;
  • The material is released in bays, which are convenient to transport.

The colors of polypropylene pipes of all types are gray, white, green and black. Blacks better protection from ultraviolet rays, otherwise the color does not affect the characteristics of polypropylene pipes and fittings for water supply or other systems.

Types of fittings

Fitting for p / n pipes - a connecting element, also made of polypropylene. It may have a brass nickel-plated pressed-in insert with a thread. The following fittings are used for piping:

  • coupling - a hollow element similar to a miniature barrel for welding pipes of the same section. Pipes are inserted from both sides;
  • adapter - a similar element, but for connecting pipes with different diameters. There are also adapters for connecting p / n pipes with metal, threaded at one end;
  • the corner is used to turn the line: this way you can avoid unnecessary bending. There are corners at 45 and 90 degrees, as well as those combined with adapters - with different section inlets, with metal thread on one side;
  • tees and crosses are used to connect more than two pipes. The angles and configuration are different, there are parts with and without thread;
  • contours - details for bypassing structural elements(for example, other pipes). Allow to avoid excessive bending of polypropylene. Shapes and sizes are different;
  • compensators. Exist in ready-made, but if necessary, can be assembled from fragments of pipes and corners;
  • - a collapsible fitting, a coupling with a union nut. In those areas that will be periodically dismantled (to clean the unit, install a water meter, etc.), it is preferable to install an American.

In addition to connecting parts, the pipelines use polypropylene taps and valves, plugs (to cover blind end sections), fasteners and clamps for mounting on walls.

Connection Features

Three types of welding are used to connect polypropylene pipe segments:

  • butt;
  • polyfusal (bell-shaped);
  • using electrical fittings.

When connecting to metal pipes, fittings with threaded inserts are used. Teflon tape and other sealants are used to seal joints.

Important: It is impossible to cut threads on factory products on your own. For installation, fittings and pipes of the same brand should be used, only in this way the quality of the finished system will be guaranteed.

A few basic rules for installing a p / p pipeline:

  1. Before starting work, you need to carefully inspect the material to exclude damage and contamination.
  2. Installation should be carried out at a positive temperature of 5 degrees, if necessary, bend pipes - from 15.
  3. The maximum bending radius depends on the dimensions of the pipes. For example, for 1.6-3.2 cm - 8 diameters.
  4. Fastening is carried out taking into account thermal expansion. When heated, the pipe deforms and may burst. Mounting on a fixed support is only permitted for a short section. In all other cases, a movable one is used, allowing for the possibility of compensatory displacement without deviation from the axis of the pipeline.
  5. The required slope of the pipe is from 0.5 percent towards the drain of the coolant or water using a drain valve.
  6. Wall elbows are mounted on a rigid plate in order to eliminate torsional stresses.

Popular manufacturers

Marks of pipes and fittings, popular today in the Russian market:

  1. Valtec (Italy) presents three categories of polypropylene pipes: thin-walled, reinforced with foil (99.4% aluminum), reinforced with fiberglass. Material - PP-R 100. The layers are glued with adhesive compositions of Japanese and American production, providing the strength of the layer 70 N per 10 mm (norm - 15). In the process of welding, a roller of straightened plastic is not formed. Feature fittings - conical socket. Parts with metal threads are octagonal (due to the shape they can be worked with standard keys).
  2. Banninger (Germany). The raw material is chemically neutral polypropylene random copolymer. The products can also be used to supply drinking water. The main disadvantage of the brand is the high price.
  3. Wavin Ecoplastic (Czech Republic). Pipes withstand loads up to 20 atm. Types of pipes for heating: Staby - reinforced with foil, Fiber, Basalt + - basalt fiber. Other models are suitable for cold water supply.
  4. Kalde (Turkey). Types: pure polypropylene - PN10 and 16; reinforced with fiberglass - PN16; superpipe - reinforced with perforated aluminum foil. The latter type does not require cleaning and trimming when welding. Service life at temperatures up to 70 degrees - 50 years.
  5. Tebo (Turkey). The raw material is a new generation resistant polymer Random Copolymer (PPR of the third type). Products have certificates for compliance with DIN, GOST, TSE standards. Section dimensions - from 2 to 16 cm, types of pipes - PN10, 20 and 25. Foil in PN25 is non-perforated, cleaning is required during welding.
  6. SPK (Turkey). Polypropylene pipes are on average half the price of European brands, while maintaining high quality. Made from Dutch raw materials on German equipment. Excellent characteristics: products can be used even in difficult operating conditions (for example, in Siberia).

IMPORTANT! Polypropylene pipes, (the characteristics of experts confirm this), are classified as environmentally friendly substances, they are completely safe for technological use.

Information about raw materials

The technical characteristics of polypropylene are directly dependent on the feedstock, or rather, on its quality and properties.

Manufacture of fittings and pipes reinforced with aluminum for heating and plumbing pn10, pn16, pn20 and pn25

Polypropylene was obtained by Frank Gresham. Later, the base was improved, and their modifications appeared. Depending on the type of plastic, pipes are divided into the following types:

  1. The first is propylene homopolymer (PPH);
  2. The second is polypropylene copolymers (PPB);
  3. The third is a static copolymer of polypropylene with ethylene (PPRC).

Immediately, special attention should be paid to type 3. It stands out for its resistance to high temperature. The invention of this substance was a very big “breakthrough” in the field of plastics manufacturing.

Products marked PN10, PN16 and PN20 for heating and plumbing

A PN25 include another layer of aluminum I. The species marked with the PN16 indicator has become an intermediate option. it universal material, but it is used very rarely.

PN25 aluminum reinforced for plumbing and heating

  • These are pipe products with a thin wall, which are used to supply cold water(up to +20 degrees). Specifications polypropylene pipes PN10 allow it to be used for "warm floor" (up to + 45C), withstands a pressure of 1 MPa.

Diameter: external volumes from 20 to 110 mm, and external indicators from 16.2 to 90 mm. The wall thickness of PN10 is from 2 to 10 mm.

  • The technical characteristics of the PN20 polypropylene pipe became the reason to call it universal option, is used in the line with hot water supply (up to a temperature of +80 degrees and pressure up to 2MPa). The average inner diameter is from 10.6 to 73.2 mm. External indicators are from 16 to 110 mm. The wall thickness of PN20 is from 16 to 18.4 mm.
  • This is a polypropylene pipe reinforced with aluminum, the characteristics of PN25 allow them to be used for a central heating network with temperatures up to +95 degrees, and for supplying hot water. The nominal value of pressure is 2.5 MPa.

The aluminum layer is located next to outside. There is a perforation on the foil, because of it, the PN25 polypropylene pipe specifications, which is allowed not to apply glue for the connection, increases its stability.

They are used with such diameter sizes: internal 13.2 - 50 mm, external - 21.2-77.9 mm. The wall thickness of PN25 varies from 4 to 13.3 mm.

Use of an aluminum layer. But, this also has its downsides. Such materials are difficult to mount and connect with fittings, and you will have to use a trimmer.

More recently, manufacturers have provided a new product that includes three layers. The middle layer is a mixture of polypropylene and fiberglass. The wall thickness of this new material was left unchanged.

Polypropylene reinforced pipe, its technical characteristics indicate that they have a small expansion rate (0.009 mm / m.T).

To this should be added the fact that fiberglass is very durable, this indicator is twice that of steel. These products are very easy to install.

IMPORTANT! All types of polypropylene products are white, light green, gray and black. Color does not affect their properties. Only black ones are more UV protected.

Advantages of polypropylene pipe products

The most important advantage is their long period of use, this is the most important characteristic of polypropylene.

IMPORTANT! Short rises in temperature and pressure have almost no effect on the service life of these materials.

These materials also have the following advantages:

  1. A pipeline for a water supply system from this type of pipe rolling fully meets all norms and sanitary standards.
  2. No rust or other deposits will appear inside the plumbing or heating. In this regard, throughout the entire period of use, they do not change the indicators of the inner diameter.
  3. PPR pipes are resistant to temperature changes and pressure surges.
  4. Low thermal conductivity prevents the formation of condensate.
  5. High soundproofing properties level out the noise from the operation of the highway.
  6. If we compare with metal counterparts, for installation this material takes much less time. Welding technologies make it possible to connect polypropylene structures quickly and do this work very efficiently.
  7. Light weight facilitates transportation. It also reduces the number of people used for work.
  8. They do not require additional maintenance, no need to paint.

Fitting Application

Manufacturers have developed polypropylene pipes and fittings, the technical characteristics of which make it possible to equip any engineering structure. This makes it possible to dispense with metal parts when laying.

Video 2 - all about fittings

And couplings and fittings with chrome and brass inserts allow you to connect polypropylene with metal pipes, and also allow you to attach them to any plumbing equipment.

  • Before work, inspect the products inside for clogging.
  • All workpieces should be carefully checked to prevent a damaged pipe from being put into operation.
  • Work is recommended to be performed at a temperature not lower than +5 degrees. At lower temperatures, high-quality joints are difficult to obtain.
  • In order to produce a bend without thermal influence, the temperature environment should be at least +15 degrees. With such actions, it is necessary to maintain the minimum bend radius. For a workpiece of 16-32 mm, such indicators are equal to eight diameters.
  • With the use of welding, a homogeneous seam is obtained, which provides a high-quality connection. For such pipe-rolling blanks, three types of welding are used: butt, polyfusion, and electrical fittings are used.
  • If necessary for the situation, then threaded fittings are taken into work. And to strengthen the density, a Teflon tape or seals are laid.
  • When laying polypropylene pipes for water supply, (the technical characteristics of which provide for expansion from heat), the following types of fastening are used: fixed and movable support. The first option is acceptable for short workpieces, otherwise the pipes will burst when heated. The second option creates a compensatory movement of the line (stretching and squeezing). With it, the highway itself does not move from the axis.
  • When laying, it is necessary to maintain a slope of 0.5%.
  • When fastening water folding equipment, it is necessary to avoid rotational stresses and elbows attached to the wall. They are advised to strengthen on rigid plates that create a stationary state.

ADVICE. It is not recommended to make threads on plastic blanks yourself. . If this is not done, then no one can guarantee the proper tightness of the connection between pipe products and plumbing fixtures.

The ideal price-quality ratio is polypropylene pipes, the technical characteristics of this material fully confirm this, therefore they are very popular and significantly outperform steel communications.

Polypropylene pipes are modern alternative metal pipes. They are used for transporting cold and hot water, for internal and outdoor sewerage, in heating systems, warm floors and other areas.

A new type of polypropylene ("random copolymer", marking "PP-R") - plastic, lightweight and durable material, which consists of a mixture of polypropylene and ethylene.

The presented material is non-toxic, harmless to humans and the environment. It also does not affect the quality of the transported water.

Types of polypropylene pipes

The company "Ego Engineering" is engaged in the implementation plumbing equipment, among which there are the following polypropylene pipes:

SDR 11(PN10) - unreinforced PP-R pipes. The standardized thickness of their walls is 1.9 - 11.4 mm, the inner diameter is 16.2 - 102.2 mm, the outer one is 20 - 125 mm. This type is recommended for cold water supply systems (up to 20 ° C), the operating pressure in which does not exceed 1 MPa.
SDR 6 (PN20) - universal non-reinforced PP-R. Standard inner diameter - 13.2 - 83.2 mm, outer - 20 - 125 mm. Such a pipe made of polypropylene has a wall thickness of 3.4 - 20.9 mm. Experts advise using it for both cold (up to 20 ° C, pressure - 2 MPa) and hot (maximum 75 ° C, pressure - 0.8 MPa) water supply.
SDR 5 (PN25) is PP-R with reinforcement aluminum foil(perforated or solid), located at the outer wall. The presented type of pipes is suitable for heating systems (maximum temperature - 90 ° C, pressure - 0.8 MPa), cold (up to 20 ° C, pressure - 2.5 MPa), hot (maximum 75 ° C, pressure - 0.8 MPa) of water supply.
SDR 6 DUO (PN20) is PP-R with aluminum foil reinforcement (perforated or solid) in the middle. The presented type of pipes is suitable for heating systems (maximum temperature - 90 ° C, pressure - 0.6 MPa), cold (up to 20 ° C, pressure - 2.0 MPa), hot (maximum 75 ° C, pressure - 0.8 MPa) of water supply.
SDR 7.4 RUBIS (PN16) is PP-R with fiberglass reinforcement in the middle. The presented type of pipes is suitable for cold (up to 20 ° C, pressure - 1.6 MPa) and hot (maximum 75 ° C, pressure - 0.6 MPa) water supply.
SDR 6 RUBIS (PN20) is PP-R with fiberglass reinforcement in the middle.

Advantages of polypropylene pipes

Large operational resource. Buying these pipes is beneficial in terms of its durability. Service life in heating systems - at least 50 years, cold water - more than 100 years.
Noise absorption. With a low cost of pipes, they have high level sound absorption. Due to the fact that polypropylene dampens noise well, the transportation of water and heat carriers is as quiet as possible.
Resistance to changes. Randomly, the copolymer is resistant to deposits of hardness salts, aggressive substances (acids and alkalis), corrosion, pressure drops, and temperatures. This quality makes the pipes resistant to destruction and does not allow the inner diameter to decrease when used in heating and water supply systems.
Loyal cost. The price of polypropylene pipes is much more pleasant compared to its competitors. At the same time, low weight makes it possible to additionally save financial resources on the processes of transportation and installation.
Installation speed. Polypropylene pipes and fittings (bends, tees, etc.) allow you to create pipeline systems of varying complexity. At the same time, the features of socket welding ensure their prompt installation with just a few installers.

PPR PN 10 polypropylene pipes are the best choice for laying cold water supply systems in residential buildings, industrial, administrative buildings and greenhouse farms. The use of modern durable random copolymer polypropylene in their manufacture ensures their reliability and durability during the installation of air supply systems and technological solutions.

Mounting Features

Application polymer pipes regulated by federal building codes and the set of rules SP 40-101-96. A specific feature of polymer systems, which must be taken into account when designing, is a high coefficient of thermal expansion.

There is also a rigid relationship between the operational life of the pipeline and the operating pressure and temperature of water or air. The maximum service life of 50 years for pn10 polypropylene pipes is determined by manufacturers for a maximum operating pressure of not more than 1.0 MPa and water temperatures up to +20 °C.

Advantages of polypropylene pipes

Chemical resistance, high mechanical strength and elasticity of the random copolymer determined the following advantages of polypropylene pipes over metal ones:

  • corrosion resistance makes water treatment and waterproofing of pipes unnecessary;
  • chemical neutrality guarantees entry into drinking water foreign impurities;
  • smooth inner surface with low adhesion eliminates the deposition of salts and limescale;
  • mechanical strength and resistance to temperature fluctuations prevents cracking;
  • high elastic characteristics reduce sensitivity to hydraulic shocks.

Technological and consumer features of polymers allow you to quickly mount plumbing systems using low-temperature welding and sealants, without expensive equipment. Therefore, when repair work plastic pipes are the best alternative to steel.

Specifications

Vesin Trade offers its customers PPR VASEN PN 10 pipes with a wall thickness of 1.8 mm to 10 mm and an outer diameter of 16 - -110 mm. Pipes are manufactured by Weixing NBM Corporation from the most famous brand of pipe polypropylene Hostalen in exact accordance with the requirements international standards on high-tech equipment. We can offer you pipes in lengths and coils from 8 to 200 meters.

Polypropylene (PP - according to Russian, PP - according to international classification) pipes are tougher metal-plastic pipes, they are assembled by diffusion welding using fittings: angles, tees, etc. Polypropylene pipelines use permanent connections, the pipeline is assembled on welded fittings once and for all. Unlike a metal-plastic pipe, which, in fact, is thin aluminum pipe covered inside and out protective layer plastic, polypropylene pipe - completely plastic. The plastic used to make pipes also differs. Unlike polypropylene pipes, most metal-plastic pipes use polyethylene.

Due to the special properties of materials piping system from polypropylene can be used in: water supply of houses; connection of boilers; water distribution; plumbing risers; distribution by floors (normal or at each sampling point with individual connection); connecting the pipeline to existing water supply networks, assembled from metal pipes; heating networks; connection to the boiler plant; distribution devices; heating risers; connection of metal radiators.

The long service life of the serial pipe made of polypropylene allows it to be used for all known types of pipeline laying: open laying, wall laying, concealed laying. For internal systems hot water supply and heating, the most heat-resistant type of polypropylene is used - a random copolymer (marked as PP type 3 or PP Typ 3). Pipelines made of this material, depending on the operating pressure, can serve for a long time with a liquid temperature of up to 95°C. The estimated duration of the use of the pipeline is more than 50 years, and in pipelines of cold water supply even more - from 50 to 100 years. Temperatures of the order of 100°C due to short-term failures do not adversely affect the service life of the pipeline.

All parts of the pipeline that are in contact with drinking water, comply with the current standards of Russia. The suitability of polypropylene for work in contact with liquid food products is confirmed by national certificates from Belgium, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Spain, and the USA.

Pipes (fig. 20) are divided into three categories:

  • PN 10 - thin-walled version, for cold water supply (up to +20°С) and underfloor heating (up to +45°С), nominal working pressure 1 MPa (10.2 kg/cm²);
  • PN 20 - universal pipe, used for hot water supply (temperature up to + 80 ° C), nominal pressure 2 MPa (20.4 kg / cm²);
  • PN 25 - reinforced with aluminum foil, for hot water and central heating(up to +95°C), nominal pressure 2.5 MPa (25.49 kg/cm²).

Polypropylene pipe PN 16 - for cold and hot water supply (up to + 60 ° C), nominal working pressure 1.6 MPa (16.32 kg / cm²), could be the fourth in the list of categories of these pipes, but it is rare.

Unlike metal-plastic pipes, the aluminum layer in PN 25 pipes is closer to the outside and, most often, perforation is made on it, which makes it possible not to use glue to fasten the pipe layers. The connection of the outer and inner layers of polypropylene with each other or with an aluminum layer occurs through perforated holes, which, in turn, can be through or surface for various manufacturers. The direct connection of polypropylene with aluminum significantly increases the stability and strength of the pipes. Pipes PN 25 are designed for special use- mainly in heating pipelines, as well as in pipelines for hot water supply, but can also be used for cold water supply systems. For example, among domestic plumbers, this is one of the most “favorite” pipes, it is installed on all types of wiring.

Polypropylene pipes are gray, white, black and green. A color other than black does not mean any restrictions on the use of pipes. The black color of the pipe shows that it is the most protected from ultraviolet radiation.

It should also be noted that the service life of polypropylene pipes declared by the manufacturer is 50 years, which implies that the pipeline will be operated at normal pressure and normal temperature. That is, pipes can withstand significant long-term pressures, but the temperature of the transported liquid must be low, or, conversely, the temperature of the liquid can be very high, but the pressure must be low. At high pressure and high temperatures, the service life of the pipe is sharply reduced and can reach up to 1-5 years. To determine the service life of pipes operating in extreme conditions, there is a special table. We will not give it, since at the domestic level such long-term loads do not occur in domestic pipelines, and short-term emergencies associated with a sharp jump in pressure or a sharp jump in the temperature of the transported liquid, the pipe will withstand.

For polypropylene pipelines, all types of fittings necessary for the device are produced engineering communications, which allows you to refuse to include metal parts in the pipe system and to produce optimal installation of the pipeline. It also allows you to connect polypropylene pipeline to metal. Pipes are environmentally friendly and are successfully used in pipelines of cold and hot water supply and heating. Thanks to fittings with chrome and brass inserts, pipes can be easily combined with existing steel fittings and plumbing fixtures.
