We make a wooden table with our own hands according to the drawings. High-quality wooden table with your own hands Do-it-yourself wooden tables

Friends asked me to make a table that can be placed in a gazebo at the dacha. To make a table from timber with your own hands, I didn’t choose a special project option, but suggested simple diagram assembling furniture from standard lumber: timber and boards. The main idea was that the table should be low and could also serve as a bench. I had all the tools and equipment in the workshop. All that remained was to check and prepare workplace to make a table from timber with your own hands.

Tools

Since the structure must be made of wood, the tool was mainly needed for woodworking. Here's what I used to make my own timber table:

  • jigsaw;
  • saw;
  • gas-burner;
  • drill-driver;
  • wrench with socket head;
  • chisels;
  • reamer drill ø 2 cm;
  • hammer;
  • hacksaw;
  • clamps – 2 pcs.;
  • cutting die external threadø 6 mm;
  • sander;
  • roulette;
  • brushes

Materials

I went to a construction supermarket and bought the following:

  • varnish PF 170 – 0.5 l.;
  • wood glue;
  • screws 7 cm, 50 cm, washers and nuts, plastic plugs.

Step-by-step instructions on how to make a wooden table from timber with your own hands

Initially I wanted to make a table with my own hands from 50 x 50 mm bars. But this idea had to be abandoned. Friends asked us to make massive furniture in the loft style. Therefore, I used larger lumber. I decided to make the table in two stages: assembly supporting structure and the formation of the tabletop.

Making a countertop

  1. Wood 10 x 15 x 600 cm was divided into 6 sections with a saw.
  2. The upper corners along the perimeter of each element were cleaned with an abrasive wheel at an angle of 45 0 with a width of 0.5 cm.
  3. To make 2 through holes ø 6 mm through the tabletop, I clamped 3 pieces each with clamps and drilled them with a drill. Then I left 2 pieces and added a new element and drilled again. I did this because I didn’t have a long drill.
  4. From the outside, I expanded the holes with a ø 2 cm reamer to a depth of 1 cm.
  5. Reinforcement ø 6 mm was sawn into 2 pieces 0.9 m long.
  6. I cut threads at the ends of the studs with a die.
  7. I coated the adjacent sides of the wooden elements with wood glue.
  8. I inserted 2 pins into the holes. I put washers on the ends of the rods and screwed the nuts.
  9. The nuts were covered with plastic plugs.

  1. I sanded all the side and horizontal surfaces with a fine abrasive wheel mounted on a grinder.
  1. I lightly burned the surface of the tabletop with a gas torch. This gave the wood a noble appearance, emphasizing the structural pattern of the wood cut.
  2. I treated the entire tabletop with stain using a brush.
  3. The property of this product is characterized by the fact that it penetrates deeply into the structure of the wood, strengthening and disinfecting it. But small fibers create hairiness on the furniture surface. So I sanded everything again.
  4. The surface of the table top was coated with PF 170 varnish in 2 coats.

Assembling the support structure

Before making a table from timber, I drew drawings of the supporting part and tabletop of the future furniture. According to the dimensions and dimensions specified in the drawings, I began to make the supporting structure of the table with my own hands.

  1. I made furniture legs by sawing wood 10 x 20 cm into 2 parts 86 cm long + waste.
  2. At the top of the supports, I secured 30 x 30 mm bars with screws from the outside.
  3. I made the crossbar from a board 20 x 150 x 660 cm, securing it with screws to the centers of the sides of the supports.

  1. The entire outer surface was burned gas burner, covered with stain, sanded.
  2. The supports were coated with PF 170 varnish in two layers.
  3. The tabletop was installed on a support frame.
  4. Using 30 x 30 mm slats, I secured the tabletop with screws.

Cost of materials

  • timber 100 x 150 x 6000 mm = 1500 rub.;
  • timber 100 x 200 x 2000 mm = 440 rubles;
  • timber 30 x 30 x 2000 mm = 50 rub.;
  • board 20 x 150 x 740 mm = 20 rub.;
  • abrasive wheels for a grinder = 50 rub.;
  • fittings with a diameter of ø 6 mm and a length of 2 m = 20 rubles;
  • nuts and washers 4 pcs. in stock;
  • sandpaper = 10 rub.;
  • stain – 0.5 l. = 100 rub.;
  • varnish PF 170 – 0.5 l. = 50 rub.;
  • wood glue 250 g = 160 rub.;
  • screws 70 mm, 50 mm available.

Total costs were: 2400 rubles.

Labor costs

The time spent on making a table from timber with your own hands according to the drawings is combined in the following table.

Taking into account technological interruptions in work, it was possible to make the table in 3 working days. A country table made of timber, made by me according to drawings, can serve not only as a plane for arranging objects, but also be comfortable furniture for sitting. This model is attractive due to its ease of manufacture, low labor costs and practicality. When performing furniture assembly work, you must comply with all safety requirements and use personal protective equipment.

A table is furniture that you can’t do without either in the city or in the country. The table can be placed on the veranda, in the gazebo, or just in shady place. You can dine at it, have a feast or play Board games on fresh air. You can buy inexpensively only plastic non- big table ik, big wooden table for a summer residence it is cheaper to do it yourself. The article will present three options for tables and drawings for their manufacture.

Table dimensions and construction features

The optimal tabletop size for a garden table is 80x120 cm. A smaller table will be significantly inferior in functionality, table large sizes It will be too bulky and difficult to put away for the winter. The table size of 80x120 cm will allow you to hold ceremonial feasts with the number of participants 8 - 10 people.

The easiest way to make a table for a summer house is from boards. In addition, it is the most accessible and inexpensive material. The advantage of making a table from wood is that the boards can be sawed to the desired size at any construction site, and can be transported to the dacha without any problems, thereby saving on transportation. It should be noted that with table dimensions of 75x80x120 cm, the longest board will be a tabletop board 120 cm long. A board of this length will fit into almost any car.

There are quite a lot of varieties of table designs, but by and large the only difference is in the form of the legs on which the tabletop rests. Therefore, the legs of the table are the most complex element of the entire structure.

Table top

The tabletop at the table in the country house is made of boards. The thickness of the boards can be from 30 to 50 mm. However the best option is a board 40 mm thick.

An important point is cutting the boards. With a tabletop length of 120 cm, 5.3 boards with a width of 150 mm, 6.6 boards with a width of 120 mm and 8 boards with a width of 100 mm are required. Considering that boards are sold in lengths of just over 6 m, it is advisable to choose a board with a width of 100 mm for the tabletop.

By choosing a board with a width of 100 mm, you will not have to adjust or change the dimensions of the tabletop, which will greatly simplify the work of arranging the table. In addition, there will be 2 more boards 120 mm long, which can be used for other parts.

If you can’t purchase the right board, you can make the tabletop not continuous, but with intervals. Such a tabletop will look no less interesting. In this case, water that can accumulate on a table with a solid tabletop will flow through the gaps between the boards.

Table with straight legs

Table with straight legs simple design table for the garden. It's sustainable comfortable table, which will serve well both indoors and outdoors outdoors.

Fig.1.

The legs for the table consist of 4 elements: 2 vertical posts and 2 horizontal ones. The upper horizontal rack is attached to the tabletop, the lower one is a support.

Fig.2.

The design of the legs may vary. For example, instead of being supported on the bottom board, you can make it supported by vertical posts, and the bottom board can be made as an additional one for strength.

Please note that in this design, the boards are connected without additional grooves. This greatly simplifies the assembly of the table. To ensure that all elements are well secured, all joints must be glued with wood glue. In this case, the boards can be connected with self-tapping screws.

Fig.3.

  • Assemble the legs. To do this, you need to cut the board according to the drawing. Treat the joints with glue and tighten with self-tapping screws or confirmant.
  • Lay out the boards for the tabletop on a level surface, mark the position of the legs and secure the tabletop boards through the top strip of the legs.
  • Install a horizontal tie between the legs.
  • Wait 2 - 3 hours until the glue dries and remove burrs and sharp edges from the table.
  • Next, the table can be varnished. Or simply treat with an antiseptic.

Table with X-shaped legs

A table with X-shaped legs is essentially not much different from a table with straight legs, it just has a different shape of the legs. However, it is impossible to manufacture without creating additional grooves on the legs. This makes the work somewhat more difficult.

Fig.4.

The table legs consist of 3 elements. Two crossing supports and a vertical top bar. Upper bar, as in the previous case, is necessary for attaching the tabletop.

Fig.5.

To connect the legs in the inclined supports, you need to make a slot in the floor of the board.

Fig.6.

The table assembly procedure is as follows:

  • Cut the boards to the required length.
  • A groove is made in the legs into the floor of the board. The groove can be made with a jigsaw or a router.
  • Assemble the legs. The connections are glued. The parts are fastened with self-tapping screws.
  • Lay out the tabletop boards and attach the assembled legs to them.
  • Install the bottom screed board.
  • The table is treated to remove burrs and varnished.

Table with benches

A table with benches is often installed on verandas or under open air. Unlike the designs described above, it does not require additional benches or chairs; the benches are included in the design of the table.

Fig.7.

The disadvantage of this version of the table for the dacha is that the design is quite cumbersome, and putting it away for the winter becomes very problematic.

Fig.8.

A special feature of the table design is that the benches are attached directly to the table legs. The crossbars on which the benches are attached simultaneously act as a tie for the legs, and the benches play the role of a longitudinal tie.

Fig.9.

The procedure for assembling a table with benches is as follows:

  • Cut the boards to the required length.
  • Assemble the legs and support for the bench flooring. The joints are glued and tightened with self-tapping screws.
  • Mark the boards for the tabletop and mount them to the legs.
  • Benches are secured.
  • Treat with impregnation or antiseptic.

The editors of the online magazine website invites those interested to learn how to make a wooden table with their own hands, what is required for this, and whether there are any pitfalls in such work.

Beautiful wooden product for the kitchen or living room, made with love

Professional carpenters are unlikely to find our step-by-step recommendations, but for novice amateurs the advice will come in handy. First, let's look at what products you can make with your own hands from wood.

Of course, the more skills a person has, the more complex the model he can make. But to build a table with your own hands from wood, there are ready-made drawings and photos to help beginners.

How to choose a material for making your own wooden table for home and garden

What to make from dinner table with your own hands? Best of all - made of wood. The most pliable wood for a new master will be pine. Products made from poplar will look more solemn. For the street you can take mahogany.

If you want a simpler option for your home, then it’s worth considering laminated chipboard With optimal thickness at 25-35 mm. Can be taken on the tabletop wooden boards, birch plywood with a thickness of 35 mm. Legs can be made of metal or wooden beam(about 50 mm thickness).

In order not to make a mistake with the amount of material, a preliminary drawing of the future structure is made with precisely specified dimensions.

Advice! Suitable product height varies between 750-800 mm.

What tools are needed to make a wooden table with your own hands?

It doesn’t matter what shape the future table will be: working with wood requires a certain set of tools. You can’t do without a jigsaw, and it will be much easier to work with electric model. To secure all structural elements, use either a drill with a multi-stage drill for holes, or confirmations. To polish the product to perfection, you need a special attachment for a drill.

For greater fastening strength, the tools include wood glue.

How to make a wooden table with your own hands - step-by-step instructions

We have selected four types of structures that can be made on your own, even with a minimum of carpentry skills. We invite you to learn about the stages of manufacturing a round and rectangular table, coffee table and models for garden gazebo.

Making a wooden round table

Easiest to do round table top and a connecting ring of or dimensions 1500 × 1500 mm and 1280 × 1280 mm. You will also need two laminated chipboard strips (1110 × 120 × 25 mm). We will make the legs from four wooden blocks measuring 120 × 50 × 750 mm.

How to make a countertop

How to draw a circle perfectly straight? Place your own on a sheet of plywood in the center thumb hands with a string attached to it with a pencil. The length of the rope from the base to the top should coincide with the radius of the future tabletop. Holding your finger in one place, draw a circle around the full length of the rope with a pencil. All that remains is to cut it out with a jigsaw.

The underframe circle is cut out in the same way.

Making legs

Round table made of wood or chipboard will look charming if you do everything consistently. You won’t have to bother with the legs if your plans aren’t too original. The bars are divided into 4 parts according to the desired size of the table height minus the thickness of the table top. First, one leg is cut off, and the other three are aligned along it.

All processing grinder is carried out immediately.

Advice! You shouldn’t rush into sanding, as the first coat of varnish will reveal all the imperfections.

Assembly of the structure and processing of the finished product

Assembly is carried out in stages. First, align the planks groove to groove. Then the crosspiece of the planks is connected to the legs with confirmations, as in the figure below:

If you want to make the structure stronger, before connecting the legs to the tabletop, coat their upper base with glue.

Advice! Nails are not used in this type of work: a self-tapping screw or confirmat can be unscrewed without problems, and the connections will be much stronger.

Making a rectangular wooden kitchen table

The rectangular design is classic and very useful in everyday life: it is convenient to cook on such a table and you can comfortably dine at it.

How to make a countertop

A wooden tabletop for a table is made either from a whole sheet of plywood, or from individual edged boards processed to perfect smoothness.

Having fastened the boards with screws and glue, they begin to make the frame.

Making wooden legs for a table and frame

At the heart of the quadrangular models is a frame. It serves to securely fix the legs, ensuring the stability of the entire structure. The tabletop is turned over, a depth of 3-4 cm is measured on each side and the measurements are transferred to the boards. As a result, you will need two boards of shorter length and two longer.

The frame is made of four elements: according to the approximate ratio, these are two boards of X cm and two of 2X cm. They are connected to each other with an overlap one by one, building a rectangle. In order not to break the 90° angle, use any board when working with a screwdriver: it is used to press the structure while tightening the screws.

As soon as the frame box is ready, they begin to make the legs. You can take ready-made balusters for the table, buy metal supports or cut them out of bars according to the desired length according to the drawing.

Both the frame and the legs are subject to mandatory thorough sanding!

Product installation and final finishing

The frame is screwed to the tabletop with glue or self-tapping screws. Then the product is turned over and the legs begin to be attached.

Important! It's better to make holes for the screws in advance. This eliminates the possibility of the wood splitting.

Why don't they use nails and a hammer? Not everyone has the skills to work with a hammer - it’s not only dangerous to hit your finger. Overdoing it can easily damage the wood by splitting it. Confirmations and self-tapping screws hold the tree much more firmly.

As soon as the leg is secured, the angle is immediately checked: there should be no deviation from 90°. The operation is repeated with other legs. You can attach the legs directly through the tabletop, but this will affect the aesthetic component of the product.

Making your own wooden coffee table

Not only a beautiful interior element, but also a useful one. There is no need to look for a visible place to put a book, gadget, glasses, or TV remote control. Such necessary structures are made from different materials: metal, glass, plastic, chipboard, wood. But let's leave other materials alone and concentrate on working with wood.

Choice wooden table top for the table depends on the expectations of the owner of the product. Some people want something massive, while others prefer lighter options. Let's stick to a simple solution.

We purchase five boards 30 × 150 mm and process them to perfect smoothness. We cut it straight onto the tabletop desired length: You should get 6 identical canvases. We take four bars for the legs, 6 shorter pieces for the lower tabletop, and 4 narrow slats for the frame.

IllustrationDescription of action
To brush wood, use a grinder with a brass brush attachment. The procedure will expose the structure of the wood, giving the product a special flavor.
We go back and forth along each board on the side that will be the front.
We treat the wood with fire. The flame is gradually moved from place to place: the board will acquire a beautiful darkish tint. The procedure will completely destroy unnecessary soft wood fibers. We actively wipe the entire surface with a felt boot or a piece of felt.

Let's start the assembly process small table with your own hands made of wood.

  1. The lower and upper tabletops are laid on work surface wrong side towards you. The boards are laid tightly together, gluing them together. Once the boards have set, slats are attached to the top tabletop. They will serve as a frame and fastening element. They can be glued or screwed with self-tapping screws. The self-tapping screw is screwed into the center of the slats into each of the boards.
  2. The legs are screwed to both the tabletop and the slats. You can use furniture corners.

Making your own wooden table with benches for a gazebo

It's time to take the time and build a wooden garden table.

It's best to take boards standard sizes. IN hardware store Studs (suitable with a length of 16 cm), washers (24 pieces) are purchased. For a garden gazebo, long nails (8 cm) will do.

Whether to paint a product or simply varnish it is a matter of taste.

It is no secret that the dacha uses furniture that has served its time in the apartment. The table is no exception. However, in dacha conditions, the furniture that served well at home cannot always fulfill its purpose. This is about modern tables, made mainly from laminated chipboard. Such tables are not suitable for a gazebo, veranda, garden, or even in a house high humidity in the off-season their service life is limited. In such conditions, a wooden table is needed, but a wooden table is not a cheap pleasure. The solution to the problem is to make a table with your own hands. This is quite easy to do. In addition, this will allow you to save significantly, including on delivery.

The simplest table design

The simplest table design is shown in the photo below. At the same time, this design is the least expensive both in terms of materials and manufacturing effort.

Fig.1.

Optimal dimensions table

One of the advantages of making a garden table with your own hands is that the table can be made of any size. Thus, the table can be easily adjusted to the dimensions of the gazebo, veranda or kitchen.

To make it easier to navigate the sizes, I will give a size chart, which is most often used in the production of tables. The size chart is based on the size of the countertop.

  • 60x90 cm. A table with this size is optimal for 3 people. At such a table it is convenient to have lunch, drink tea, etc. Thanks to its size, it will fit well into any small space.
  • 80x120 cm. 4 - 6 people can comfortably sit at this table. Usually a table with these dimensions is appropriate to place in large kitchen or on the veranda.
  • More than 120 cm. Tables with these sizes are good for feasts. In the conditions of the dacha and limited space country house Basically, such a table is installed in a gazebo or under a canopy in the open air.

Naturally, when making a table with your own hands, you can make the size arbitrary, however, in order to be comfortable at the table, you should adhere to the recommendations given above.

Manufacturing procedure and table drawing

The table drawing is shown in the figure below.

Fig.2.

Table legs are made from wooden block with a cross section of 40x40 mm and a length of 70 cm. If you want to decorate the table, you can use balusters as legs. They are carved and will make the table design more interesting.

The support for the tabletop can be made from a board with a cross-section of 25x150 mm, sawing it lengthwise into two halves. For support you need 2 boards 650 mm long and 2 boards 1050 mm long.

With the countertop everything is much more interesting. The table top can be made different ways. The easiest option is to purchase a furniture panel required sizes. It can be purchased at online building materials hypermarkets.

Fig.3.

If you take this path, you should remember that furniture board is made by gluing small sections of boards, and if it is constantly exposed to precipitation, it will quickly become unusable. Therefore, a table with a tabletop made of furniture board must be varnished or painted to protect it from moisture.

Another option is a plank countertop. Boards can be used in any size. For example, with a section of 25x100 mm. It's simple and cheap option countertops. This option does not have the disadvantages that are inherent in furniture panels.

Fig.4.

However, without special equipment it is unlikely that it will be possible to fit the boards tightly. Therefore, the tabletop will have gaps between the boards. It looks good for garden table. But not very practical.

You can get rid of the gap mentioned above by using an unusual, tongue-and-groove board. It will cost a little more, but you will get a smooth, even tabletop.

Fig.5.

Euro floor boards can be used as tongue and groove boards. They are easier to find in the store. It’s just important not to forget to stitch them from the wrong side.

Table assembly

Once all the elements of the table are ready, you can begin assembling the table. The table is assembled in a certain order.

First, assemble the support for the tabletop and attach the legs to it. This is the most difficult moment in the table assembly. As described earlier, the tabletop support consists of 4 boards. They need to be connected to each other. There are several ways to do this.

The photo below shows how to assemble a tabletop support and secure the leg to it using a special tie.

Fig.6.

This method perfect solution, except for that fact. It may not be easy to purchase a special screed.

Another way is to tighten the entire structure using a wooden block.

Fig.7.

Applying this method You need to pay attention to the fact that the block must be sawed off at an angle of strictly 45 degrees. Otherwise, the table will not be rectangular.

In my opinion the simplest and affordable option Assembling the legs and supports for the tabletop is the use of a metal general construction corner measuring 50x50 mm. You can buy it in any store, and it has the correct geometric shape.

The last step in assembling the table is installing the tabletop. Depending on the type of tabletop, it can be secured in various ways. Furniture board Can be attached with corners or with glue. Separate boards using screws and glue.

Fig.8.

As you can already understand, making a table for a summer house or at home with your own hands is quite simple. It is important to approach the issue creatively. This table can be decorated with any paint and varnish coatings. A wooden table made by yourself will delight you every day and will last for many years.

How to make a garden wooden table with your own hands

A dacha is the place where a craftsman, a carpenter, a carpenter, a gardener, in general, a master, awakens in a person. Buy furniture for suburban area- it’s a simple matter, but not everyone can make a wooden table for their dacha with their own hands. You must immediately be prepared for what to do garden table you will do it yourself for a few days. But the tips listed below will help you make a good-quality table yourself.

Today we will construct a fairly simple country table with our own hands in provencal style. Such tables not only look great, but also have quite reliable design. It's worth paying attention to the boards. They must be even, since the appearance of our country table will directly depend on this.

When designing a table for a summer house, it is necessary to prepare lumber in three dimensions:

  • Supporting frame - section 38 x 90 mm.
  • Tabletop - section 38 X 140 mm.
  • Supporting strips - section 19 X 64 mm.
  1. Drawing

Before starting work, the most important thing is to find it on the Internet, or make your own drawings of a table for a summer house with your own hands. An accurate schematic designation will allow you to select lumber that will be most suitable in cross-section to the dimensions indicated on the diagram. It doesn’t matter if the dimensions don’t exactly match each other, because you can always make an adjustment using an electric planer.

  1. Preparation of material

When deciding how to make a garden wooden table, approach the issue responsibly, since the life of the furniture will depend on this:

  • purchase of blanks. Professionals advise purchasing lumber from coniferous trees, which was previously well dried. Its main advantages are:
    • price;
    • simplicity and ease of manual processing;
    • beautiful structure;
  • furniture glue;
  • 4 X 65 mm screws;
  • 3 mm drill;
  • drill;
  • tape measure, pencil, sandpaper.
  1. Further actions

We will need:

  • two upper transverse beams, dimensions 38 X 90 X 978 mm;
  • four legs for a country table with your own hands, size 38 X 90 X 695 mm;
  • two bowstrings - 38 X 90 X 921 mm;
  • one longitudinal lower and one upper beam - 38 X 90 X 1575 mm and 38 X 90 X 1473 mm, respectively;
  • two pieces of braces 38 X 90 X 772 mm;
  • blanks for the tabletop - seven pieces, measuring 38 x 90 x 2337 mm;
  • six support strips - 19 X 64 X 432 mm.

Advice: you should start working on flat surface. It is extremely necessary to observe the joining angles of the parts. The blanks, which will later become the legs of our country table, should be cut on both sides at an angle of 10°. The cuts must be parallel. But the bowstring blanks, which are similarly cut at the same angle, should be cut one towards the other.

Stage 2. Our legs country table should be attached to the cross beams and this entire structure should be fastened with screws. There are two screws for each connection.

We screw the string diagonally to the leg with inside, in the same way fastening the structure with two screws.

The lower beam must be used to connect both strings to each other. As mentioned above, using screws.

Next, holes are first made in the upper longitudinal and transverse beams for fastener, called a dowel, after which we again diagonally connect the blanks of our country wooden table with the existing screws.

Tip: When connecting all the elements, use glue for additional strength. Remove excess immediately.

We place the braces on the screws.

Tip: blanks intended for braces should first be cut at an angle of 45 degrees

We fasten the blanks for the table top with screws to the cross beams with our own hands.

How to make a rectangular table for a garden

After developing a work plan and approving the drawings of the garden table, purchase all the materials needed for this project. Choose wood designed for outdoor use - pine, cedar, redwood or pressure-treated wood. When purchasing, check each board: they must be completely smooth and without any visible defects. Do not skimp on the quality of lumber, because your structure will have to withstand all weather adversity.

There are a few important points, which you must take into account if you want the result to correspond to a high professional level. Do not forget about the accuracy of measurement and use professional tool when cutting boards and bars and drilling holes. To increase the reliability of the structure, you can additionally use waterproof glue to fasten the parts. Round open edges using a router or sandpaper.

Attention! Dimensions are converted from the inch system and may not correspond to the metric measurement system. Choose lumber that is as close in size as possible. Or just customize it yourself.

Tools required to implement the project:

  • hacksaw, jigsaw;
  • milling cutter;
  • drill and drill bits;
  • chalk cord, tape measure, spirit level, pencil;
  • safety glasses and gloves.

Time:

  • From one day to a week depending on the chosen project. If you have power tools at your disposal, you can finish the job even faster - in just a few hours.

Adviсe:

  • A router will help smooth the edges of wooden blocks and boards.
  • Before screwing in screws and self-tapping screws, drill into wooden elements design guide holes.
  • The heads of the screws that are screwed in should not protrude above the wooden surface, and for this, the entrance parts of the holes must be countersunk.
  • Do not use cracked or warped lumber.
  • Do not use excessive force when tightening the screws, otherwise the wood may crack.

DIY picnic table. Step-by-step instruction

Materials:

  • A - Legs: 5x10 cm bars, 106 cm long (2 pcs.), 43 cm long (2 pcs.) and 56 cm long (2 pcs.);
  • B - Frame: bars 5x10 cm, length 87 cm (2 pcs.);
  • C - Tabletop: boards 5×15 cm, length 180 cm (6 pcs.);
  • D - Tabletop base: boards 5x15 cm, length 87 cm (2 pcs.), bars 5x10 cm, length 62 cm (2 pcs.).

The first stage of the project is making the table legs. Saw off the bars of the required size. To speed up the process, you can use circular saw. Smooth the edges of the bars and cut lines sandpaper.

Connect the bars to form an X-shaped structure and fasten them with 60 mm self-tapping screws, not forgetting to pre-drill the guide holes. Lubricate the joints with glue. Make sure there are no cracks or gaps.

Fasten each pair of legs with a horizontal block, using 60 mm self-tapping screws for this purpose. Cut off the ends of the bars as shown in the figure.

Place the boards intended for making the tabletop on a flat surface. We advise you to place pieces of 6 mm plywood between them, this will create uniform gaps. Place the assembled table sides on the tabletop and secure them by screwing in self-tapping screws at an angle of 90 mm. Before fixing, make sure the legs and table top are perpendicular using a spirit level.

Place sawn pieces of 5x15 cm boards on the underside of the tabletop and secure them with 60 mm self-tapping screws.

Saw off the ends of the bars, which will serve as supports reinforcing the structure, at an angle of 45º. Place the supports in their place and secure with 90 mm self-tapping screws screwed in at an angle.

And finally, last but not least: check that the heads of the screws do not protrude above the wooden surface, and fill all cracks and holes with wood putty.

Tip: To protect wooden surfaces from the damaging effects of atmospheric moisture, cover them with several layers of exterior paint or stain.

Table with benches. Instructions with drawings

Materials:

  • A - Legs: bars 5x10 cm, length 95 cm (4 pcs.);
  • B - Crossbars: bars 5×10 cm, length 160 cm (2 pcs.);
  • C - Fastening the tabletop: 5×10 cm bars, 75 cm long (5 pcs.);
  • D - Inclined supports: bars 5×10 cm, length 84 cm (2 pcs.);
  • E - Tabletop: boards 5x10 cm, length 180 cm (14 pcs.).

You should start by making the legs. Since the legs of this table will be inclined, the ends of the 100 cm long bars should be cut at an angle of 30º. Connect the elements with 90 mm bolts.

Make sure the surface you are working on is fairly level. The mounted sides of the table must be identical, only in this case can you hope for excellent final result.

When the sides of the table are ready, you can begin making the wooden tabletop. We recommend that you knock it together on the ground (floor), and then attach it to the legs using self-tapping screws.

Tip: Don't forget to make sure the side walls of the table are vertical using a spirit level, otherwise the end result of your work is unlikely to satisfy you.

Rigidly fix the entire structure using inclined supports. Their ends should first be cut at an angle of 26º.

Now all that remains is to build the benches. Saw off the boards the right size, place them on both sides of the table and, having previously drilled several guide holes at a distance of at least 1 cm from the edges, secure them with self-tapping screws.

Tip: To ensure that the seat boards are evenly distributed, place nails or pieces of plywood between them before attaching them. Thanks to this little trick, all the gaps will be the same.

At the end of the work, pay attention to small but very important touches. Fill all cracks and holes with wood putty. After the putty has dried, sand the wood surfaces with medium-grit sandpaper.

Tip: Be sure to apply several coats of paint or stain to protect wood surfaces from exposure to water and sunlight.

Round table. We do it at the dacha on our own

Materials:

  • A - Base: 5×10 cm block 102.5 cm long (1 piece) and 47 cm long (2 pieces), 2.5×10 cm block 9 cm long (4 pieces);
  • B - Stands: bars 10×10 cm, length 60 cm (4 pcs.);
  • C - Tabletop base: 5x10 cm bars 82.5 cm long (1 pc.) and 52.5 cm long (2 pcs.), 2.5x10 cm bars 47.5 cm long (4 pcs.) and 60 cm long (2 pcs.) ;
  • D - Tabletop: boards 2.5×15 cm, length 195 cm (9 pcs.).

The first stage of the project is to create the table base. To connect its constituent elements, use waterproof glue and self-tapping screws. Make sure that the corners formed by the bars being connected are straight. To protect the assembled table base from rotting under the influence of rainwater, place it on small stands made from scrap 2.5x10 cm boards.

Now you need to attach four posts made from square bars to the base. Before fixing, make sure they are vertical using a spirit level. The height of the legs may differ from what we propose; in this case, you should, first of all, be guided by your own needs.

The most difficult stage of the project is making the countertop. Place the boards on a flat surface and mark the center of the square. Secure one end of a 60 cm strip at this point. Rotate the other end of the staff to mark the outline of the circle. Jigsaw with sharp blade will allow you to make a circular cut at a high professional level.

After cutting the boards of the future tabletop, we recommend that you fasten them together with waterproof glue and additionally secure them with several clamps. Attach the bars that serve as the base of the tabletop, as shown in the picture (yellow elements should be made from 5x10 cm bars, green ones from 2.5x10 cm bars).

Tip: To attach the bars to the tabletop, use waterproof glue and galvanized screws (30 mm self-tapping screws for fastening 2.5x10 cm bars and 50 mm for fastening 5x10 cm bars).

After the glue has dried, you should attach the legs to the base of the tabletop using 90 mm self-tapping screws, having previously drilled pilot holes. Use a spirit level to check the perpendicularity of the legs and tabletop.

To ensure that the result of your work corresponds to a high professional level, make sure that the heads of the screws are recessed deep enough. Cover all cracks and holes with wood putty, and after it dries, sand the surface with sandpaper.

Tip: Apply several coats of exterior paint or stain to protect the table from moisture damage. To ensure that the base stands are also untouched by water, place the table on concrete surface and seal them hermetically.

Now you know how to make a picnic table yourself. You just have to put in a little effort, which will subsequently be rewarded with enthusiastic exclamations from friends and pleasant summer evenings spent with your family at a large table.
