Roller blinds for window sashes. How to hang roller blinds inside a window opening. How to install roller blinds on plastic windows without drilling: possible options

Plastic windows have long ceased to be an attribute of office interiors. Today they are used both in old Khrushchev and Stalinka buildings, as well as in modern new buildings. But so that such glazing does not bring dissonance into the atmosphere home comfort, you need to be able to choose the right curtains for your living space plastic windows.

To decorate your plastic windows according to last word in design, you should pay attention to the following types of curtains:

  • Corrugated curtains- also known as Pleated Curtains. Matter with antistatic coating gathers like an accordion when you need to roll up the curtain and let the sunlight into the room. Depending on the design, the window can be opened both from below and from above.
  • Roman curtains- when unfolded, they are a straight piece of fabric, but when you need to open the window glass, they, starting from the bottom edge, gather into beautiful horizontal deep folds. It is quite possible to sew such a design yourself with your own hands.

Types of sun blinds on plastic windows

For owners of apartments with south facing windows, topical issue is the choice of curtains that serve as a reliable protection against sunlight entering the room on hot summer days. Such products are subject to increased requirements.

There is a special kind of roller blinds "blackout", which does not let light through.

In particular, they must be:

  • From high-quality fabric that would not fade in the sun;
  • Reflect Sun rays to protect the apartment not only from bright light, but also from heat in hot weather.

To this end, those who prefer roller blinds should choose a product made of heat-resistant and opaque blackout material. This fabric provides comfortable sleep even in the conditions of white nights, as it is able to retain the sun's rays up to 100%.

A popular option for plastic windows are day-night sunshades, also known as zebra shades. They are easy to recognize by distinguishing feature- an unusual design in which transparent horizontal stripes alternate with opaque lamellas. Due to this, it is possible to adjust the level of penetration of bright sunlight into the room, up to the complete shading of the room.

Features of fastening for curtains on plastic windows

Curtains for plastic windows do not have the usual hooks or loops, they do not use eyelets. Therefore, such curtains cannot be hung on ordinary cornices and cannot be threaded into baguettes. To fasten roller blinds or blinds, it will be necessary to mount the structure directly on the plastic profile.

There are different mounting methods.

For curtains on the fixing window, you can use:

  • Latches;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • brackets;
  • Liquid Nails;
  • Double sided tape.

Each method has both its tangible advantages and some disadvantages. Self-tapping screws and brackets, if used carelessly, will violate the tightness of the plastic window, but they hold the heavy structure well. Velcro is recommended to attach light curtains. Using liquid nails for installation, in the future it will be difficult to replace the old curtains with new ones. Latches are not suitable for all types of structures, but they cling directly to the window sash and it is easy to replace open-type roller blinds with them.

How to attach curtains to plastic windows with your own hands

The most popular type of fastening of common roller blinds, suitable for a plastic window, is fixing directly on the window. To avoid drilling unnecessary holes in the profile, it is recommended to use removable latches that can be mounted directly on the sash.

For this:

  1. It is necessary to first degrease the junctions of the plastic and the latch.
  2. Cut out suitable size double-sided adhesive tape, which, for reliability, will fasten the latch and the window sash.
  3. Attach the holders of the movable shaft to the installed latches.
  4. Install a shaft with curtains between them.
  5. Attach a spike with a gear for a chain mechanism to the shaft.

Roller blinds gained great popularity after the appearance of plastic windows, which replaced wooden frames. The mass distribution of roller blinds is due to the fact that they are quickly installed, do not require special care, but at the same time they look stylish and fit almost any interior. This type curtains combines decorativeness and functionality, so they are mounted over balcony sections and stained-glass windows, which cannot always be closed with bulky and heavy curtains and curtains.

Another advantage of roller blinds is their installation, which is carried out without violating integrity. metal-plastic construction. Special fastenings allow you to do without the use of a drill and drilling through holes. Roller blinds can be installed independently, without resorting to the help of specialists.

What are roller blinds

Manufacturers produce several types of roller blinds for plastic windows that can be installed without drilling additional holes. Let's take a closer look at each model.

Differ in availability and low cost. The shaft, on which the woven fabric is wound, remains open. At the bottom of the canvas there is a plastic weighting agent, due to which the curtain falls down, filling with itself window frame. Mini roller blinds are suitable for window structures of any complexity, they do not take up much space and are easy to clean.

They look a little different: the rotating shaft is located under decorative box. In the folded state, such a model is almost invisible. In addition, the woven material under the box is not exposed to the sun's rays, which helps to avoid fading of the fabric. The shade and design of the box are selected based on the wishes of the customer.

This is a combined model that is mounted on each individual leaf, which allows them to be opened and closed without hindrance. The box, under which there is a folded curtain, is located at the top of the sash. Mini- cassette curtains are of two types:

  • Curtain model UNI 1 is suitable for wide glazing beads (a narrow long rail made of wood or plastic, which serves to strengthen the glass in the window frame). The guides are fastened to the inside of the glazing beads. UNI 1 fit snugly and are practically in contact with the glass.
  • The UNI 2 curtain model has a similar design, but the main difference is that the guides are mounted on outer part glazing bead. At the top of the window sash is a box.

Important! Domestic manufacturers of roller blinds produce high quality products that are in no way inferior to their foreign counterparts.

What to look for when buying roller blinds

Roller blinds are single and double. The second option is the model called "day-night". To achieve the desired degree of illumination of the room allows an unusual canvas, consisting of transparent and dense areas. The curtain becomes daylight and skips a large number of sunlight when composed of alternating bands. To make a night curtain and create twilight indoors even on a clear day sunny weather, it is enough to raise or lower one of the canvases. The play of light is possible due to small gaps through which light from the street barely passes. The color of dense sections of the canvas is selected according to the wishes of the customer. Transparent stripes are best combined with white.

Roller blinds differ from each other in the degree of protection from ultraviolet rays. Roller blinds made of transparent materials do not prevent natural light from entering, they rather perform a decorative function. Transparent curtains are suitable for apartments and houses, from the windows of which a picturesque view of the city park, the sea, mountains, etc. opens.

Translucent roller blinds are installed on windows facing north. sunlight becomes less bright and intense and more comfortable for the human eye.

In the manufacture of curtains that do not transmit ultraviolet, dense materials are used that can not only create pitch darkness during the daytime, but also isolate the room from extraneous sounds coming from the street. it perfect option for the bedroom located us on the sunny side. With such impenetrable curtains, you will not have to wake up with the first rays of the sun.

To achieve almost one hundred percent opacity of roller blinds, Blackout material, consisting of polyester fibers with double satin weaves, allows. It does not let in bright ultraviolet rays and cold, and is also resistant to pollution and fire.

Today, manufacturers produce roller blinds equipped with an electric drive. Automatic system control allows you to wind the web on the shaft using remote control. From now on, the degree of intensity of the light flux can be adjusted without getting up from the sofa.

Installing roller blinds on PVC windows without drilling the structure

Each model of roller blinds has its own installation nuances. The similarity lies in the fact that "mini" roller blinds, cassette blinds and mini-cassette blinds are mounted without the use of a drill or other power tools.

At the first stage, all components for the roller blind are prepared. For greater convenience, you should lay them out on a horizontal surface so as not to lose small parts.

The shaft with the canvas is held on the sash with plastic brackets. Semicircular parts have recesses and protruding parts that are connected to each other.

Important! Ready-made roller blinds are only suitable for standard windows. For window openings unusual shape Curtains are made to order.

Installing a mini roller blind on an opening sash

For a roller blind designed for an opening window sash, you will need a shaft, a canvas, lifting mechanism, working due to the movement of the chain, clamps for fixing and double-sided adhesive tape.

  1. Adhesive tape is glued to the brackets so that they are attached to the window sash not only due to their curved shape. This ensures the reliability and stability of the design of the roller blind. Adhesive tape is glued only on a fat-free and dry surface. Degreasing allows you to clean plastic from fatty films and other contaminants that prevent a tight connection of parts.

  2. Next, the brackets are attached to the holders. The latter have protruding spikes and grooves. The connection of parts is carried out with the help of additional fastening.

  3. A lifting mechanism with a chain and holders with brackets are installed on the shaft.

  4. On the next step roller blind alignment. The structure is hooked to the top of the sash using brackets. This allows you to properly hang the shaft with the canvas on the window.

  5. With help simple pencil the exact location of the brackets is indicated. The outlined borders will allow the brackets with double-sided tape to be glued evenly and as tightly as possible to the frame.

  6. The window sash, on which the roller blind will be placed, is degreased with medical alcohol. Acetone and other aggressive substances should not be applied to PVC surfaces. As a result chemical reaction the material may turn yellow. Dry the degreased surface thoroughly.

  7. The protective film is removed from the adhesive tape located on the bracket. The brackets themselves are hooked to the top of the window sash and pressed tightly.

  8. The clamps that the brackets are equipped with snap into place until they stop.

  9. We do the same with the second bracket, located at the opposite end of the window frame.

    Fasten the clamp of the second bracket

  10. The lifting mechanism of roller blinds is installed on that part of the bracket, which has a spike with a gear.

  11. The shaft with the canvas is inserted between the fixed brackets. Plastic is quite fragile material, so you should act as carefully as possible.

  12. At the last stage, how the roller blind rises and falls down is checked. The canvas completely covers the glass and rolls up due to the rotation of the shaft. The shaft begins to move with the help of a chain.

Installing a mini roller blind on a blind window sash

Installation of a roller blind for a blind sash is carried out without brackets-hooks. For installation, you will need side brackets with a gear.

  1. Before installing roller blinds on plastic windows, double-sided adhesive tape is glued to the grooved plates. plastic surface parts are pre-degreased with the help of medical alcohol.

  2. The protective film is removed from the tape, the side brackets are connected to the plates.

  3. The photo shows how the details of the roller blind look, assembled together.

  4. The lifting mechanism is mounted on the gear, and the side brackets are inserted into the shaft.

  5. The assembled roller blind is applied to the sash and with a simple pencil it is noted how the structure will finally be located. The brackets are only held in place with adhesive tape.

  6. The junction of the surface of the window and plates with holders is carefully prepared. To do this, it is enough to treat the plastic with alcohol.

  7. The protective film is removed from the tape, the brackets are tightly applied to the window frame.

  8. At the end, a lifting chain mechanism is installed on the shaft with the canvas. The chain is put on from the side on which the gear is located. Next, the roller blind is folded and unfolded several times in order to check the health of the structure.

Important! Roller blinds are much easier to care for than blinds. Dirt and dust accumulate on vertical or horizontal plates and are difficult to remove. Roller blinds can be cleaned with detergents and periodically wipe with a piece of soft cloth.

Detailed instructions for installing cassette roller blinds

This model differs from others in the presence of guides. Many manufacturers have simplified the installation of cassette roller blinds by applying double-sided adhesive tape to the parts in advance. When installing a roller blind, it remains only to remove the protective film. These models are already almost assembled, and the canvas itself is under the box.

  1. The cassette roller blind box is attached to the top of the window frame. The surface of the double-glazed window is preliminarily degreased. Using a simple pencil, you need to mark up. The thinnest lines drawn with a pencil will allow you to hang a box with a canvas in the center. In no case should you hang a box with a curtain without first trying it on: there is a risk that the curtain will not fall into the guides located on both sides.

  2. The protective film is removed from the double-sided tape glued to the box. The entire structure should be pressed tightly against the top of the window surface.

  3. The method of gluing the guides is determined by the type of roller blind. Some are installed with outer side glazing bead, others - from the inside. Those meant for inside pressed firmly against the glass. The photo shows the installation of curtains with guides passing from the outside.
  4. Guides with adhesive tape are first applied to the box. If there is no double-sided adhesive tape, then it is applied independently after preliminary degreasing of the surfaces. It is necessary to treat the side in contact with the sash with alcohol.
  5. Next, 3-4 centimeters of the protective film are removed from the adhesive tape.

  6. The guide for the curtains is mounted in a box and connected to a double-glazed window.

  7. The guide must be held with one hand and the remaining protective film removed with the other hand.

  8. After the tape is cleared of the film, the guide is pressed tightly against the glazing bead. Do the same with the second guide.

  9. A roller blind is placed in the fixed guides. A ring is put on the lifting mechanism to fix the chain. It will prevent slippage on the gear.

  10. At the end, the roller blind is opened and closed to check the serviceability of the mechanism and the correct installation of all parts and components.

Installing cassette roller blinds on plastic windows without drilling is easier than other models. The main thing is to act extremely carefully and carefully. Correctly made markup - a guarantee correct installation boxes with curtains and guides. No special tools are required for installation of the structure, the whole process will take no more than fifteen minutes.

Ground floor, glare on the computer, sunny side, aesthetics, design - and you never know why there are still reasons to purchase. The editors of the online magazine site have prepared this material especially for those who are just looking at it, and for those who have already firmly decided to purchase roller blinds for plastic windows without drilling. Let's consider this issue in detail from all sides in order to understand how good such a design is, and whether it is worth paying attention to at all.

Ordinary roller blinds have standard view installation - to the wall on self-tapping screws or on other types of fasteners. Not everyone is satisfied with this, and it is not always possible to securely fix them. For example, if the wall is cellular concrete, and there is no special one at hand, then no other fastener will hold such a curtain, which is constantly in operation. And besides, why these extra holes in the wall?

What are free-hanging roller blinds for plastic windows

Free-hanging roller blinds for plastic windows - classic version performance of such products. The scheme is shown in the photo below.

Represent a canvas made of fabric or other material, which, with the help of simple mechanism is wound on the shaft or removed from it. There are several types of such curtains that are mounted on windows without drilling.

Roller mini-curtains of automatic and manual operation principle

According to the control principle, manual and automatic roller blinds are distinguished. Manual control can be carried out in several ways.

  • chain- the most common option. Pull in one direction - the curtain is wound on the shaft, in the other - it is unwound. To prevent the web from skewing and breaking the structure, a limiter is usually provided on the chain, which prevents the web from twisting on the shaft once again;
  • spring mechanism represented by a cord or a ring that must be pulled so that the curtain unfolds to a certain level. It is blocked by pressing. In order for the curtain to roll up, the same manipulation is carried out, and the canvas itself rolls up onto the shaft.

Automated control of roller blinds implies the presence in their design electric drive controlled remotely using a remote control, automatic machines or switches. Several methods of raising and lowering such curtains at the same time can also be involved.

There are programmable curtain structures that automatically rise or fall according to a pre-set light or sound signal, or for some time intervals - depending on the user's preferences.

Roller blinds with guides for plastic windows are a cassette design. It looks like this: all the same shaft, all the same canvas, all the same weighting agent. But for more snug fit guides are installed on the sides, along which this canvas rides. There are several types of cassette structures.

  • UNI-1. Curtains of similar designs are attached directly to the window glazing beads. The guides themselves are flat. The fabric adheres tightly to the glass. At the same time, such curtains are only suitable for rectangular windows with a glazing bead depth of 10 mm;
  • UNI-2– more universal design, since the guides for roller blinds are not attached to the glazing beads, but to the window frame itself. Therefore, it is suitable for almost any size of double-glazed windows. At the same time, the fit of the canvas is as tight as in UNI-1, but only to the frame.

The control of such curtains can be both manual and automatic, using all the same systems that were described above.

Top 3 leading domestic manufacturers of roller blinds

However, you must always remember that such fasteners can be very unreliable, since the adhesive tape tends to dry out. The constant movement of the canvas can lead to displacement of the curtains. If you have chosen a similar type of curtains, then you need to remember that you need to handle it very carefully and carefully.

How to assemble a roller blind if it was purchased without an additional installation service

A similar curtain design is purchased in the factory packaging. And like any building "semi-finished product", it requires direct assembly before installation. Therefore, we will take a closer look at how to assemble a simple roller blind without a built-in automatic control system.

Illustration Action Description

We remove the factory packaging. There we find directly the curtain itself, wound on the shaft, and other elements of the system shown in the photo.
We position the roller blind so that the canvas that will unfold is located towards the side of the window. On the right side of the shaft we fix the part with the chain, on the other - the plug.

We take the fastening mechanism and fishing line. We insert the latter into the lower hole, tie it in a knot and cut it off.

We assemble the fastening of the blinds on the plastic windows in such a way as shown in the photo.
We insert the roller shutter into the fixed fixture from the side of the chain. On the opposite side we put on the missing element and also insert the fasteners. We put in place the missing plugs.

We also install plugs on the weighting agent, which is located at the bottom of the canvas.

There is a small eyelet on the inserted plug. We thread a fishing line into it, which stretches from the upper fastener.

We install the lower grips in the same way as the upper ones.

We insert the fishing line into them, adjust its tension until it stops, fix and cut off the excess.

Mounting roller blinds on plastic windows with your own hands, depending on the type of installation, will unfold according to different scenarios. Let's consider each in more detail.

Adhesive tape - a universal mount for roller blinds and curtains on plastic windows without drilling

Mounting roller blinds on adhesive tape is the easiest. Included with the curtain itself is a dense adhesive tape, which must be mounted only on a fat-free surface. Otherwise, the quality of fastening may suffer.

Illustration Action Description
We make accurate measurements, according to which we install the mounting elements on the sashes.

Glue double-sided tape on the fasteners from the back.

We remove the protective film from the tape and firmly press down the fasteners, installed strictly according to the measurements made. We snap the mechanism for attaching the blinds to the plastic windows to the stop.

Magnets are mounted after the curtains are assembled and installed. The supplied magnetic tapes are glued to the window in places where the curtain will be in the fully lowered position, or on the sides - it all depends on the design of the purchased roller blinds.

Installation of roller blinds on plastic windows using L-shaped hooks

Installation of blinds on plastic windows using special hooks cannot be called completely free from self-tapping screws. It is these hooks that are installed on the fasteners included in the kit. The whole process of assembling and installing curtains takes place according to the principle described above. How to hang roller blinds on plastic windows with hooks - shown in the photo below.

In a nutshell, the included mounting brackets attach to the side of the window with self-tapping screws. All this happens only by preliminary measurements. How to make them more accurate - the instructions attached to the purchased curtain will tell you. When this stage is passed, then a box is installed on the curtain. The structure is ready for operation.

Described above general instruction assembly and installation of roller shutters. But during direct installation, difficulties may arise, caused by the question: are there any features of mounting such roller shutters on a blind and opening sash? Let's say unequivocally - there are none, since the very design of such curtains is developed according to a universal scheme and is suitable for windows operating in any plane. The main thing is to make a quality installation so that the curtain does not fall during constant operation.

Roller blinds closely fit into our lives and have become an integral part of most interiors. When you have decided on the color, design and type of roller blinds, it is worth deciding how they will be attached. After all, from right choice The type of installation of roller shutters will depend on the convenience and duration of operation of the product. In this article, we have described in detail the most popular ways of attaching roller blinds, including how to install roller blinds on plastic windows without drilling, as well as an explanatory series of photos.

What determines the method of fastening roller blinds

The installation location of roller blinds depends on many factors.

  • From room design: There are many nuances and personal preferences.
  • From the size of the window opening: to visually enlarge a small window, it is better to hang roller blinds on a wall or ceiling. And also for large windows bulky curtain designs are required that are heavy enough to be hung on a frame.
  • From the number of opening doors: when the window has one or more opening parts, then the roller blinds are hung separately on each of them. To make windows easy to open and close, you can use removable brackets for attaching roller shutters.
  • From the weight of the product itself: heavy curtain structures are a big load on the window frame, so fixing to the ceiling or wall here will be the best solution.
  • From the material of the window frame (wooden or plastic): it is not difficult and not very pitiful to drill a wooden window frame with a screwdriver, especially since the remaining holes are easy to hide after removing the roller blind, when it is difficult to do this on plastic. And double-sided tape sticks better to plastic surfaces.

You should responsibly approach the choice of how to install roller blinds, and then they will serve you faithfully for many years.

How to hang a roller blind on a wall or ceiling with your own hands

When the room has small window, then a roller blind installed above the window to the ceiling will help to visually enlarge it. Also, this installation method should be chosen if your roll structure is heavy enough, and the frames may simply not withstand it. Or you want to hang one large canvas across the entire width of the window, while allowing it to open freely. A screwdriver and self-tapping screws will not do here, you will need a puncher and a dowel-nails.

How to install a roller blind

Collect all the fasteners and install the curtain on it, while immediately deciding on which side the control chain and the attachment point itself will be.

Further, if you have a good eye, attach the product to the wall, estimate whether it is oblique relative to the horizon and whether it is normally centered relative to the window itself. Mark the attachment points with a pencil. If you are not sure, then take a tape measure, measure the width of the curtain between the mounting holes, divide by two, then measure this number from the center of the opening to the left and right. There will be attachment points, mark with a pencil.

Do not forget to also check that the canvas does not cling to the window handle when lowering, and if the curtain is installed inside the window opening, then its brackets should not reach the wall a few millimeters.

Drill holes on one side for the dowels, and fasten without tightening the bracket to the end.

In that place, drill a hole and attach the second bracket.

Install the shaft with the curtain on the brackets-holders, and check that the curtain is lowered without shifting. If everything is fine, then hold on to the dowels and put on decorative caps.

Adjust the height of the chain and set the lower position limiter

Installation of roller shutters to the frame by drilling

For plastic and wooden windows Roller blinds can be fixed with or without frame drilling. The second method will be discussed below. If you still decide to drill a plastic frame, then it is worth considering the fact that holes will remain on it, which will subsequently be difficult to disguise.

On a wooden frame, this will not be a big problem, with the help of putty and paint, you can easily hide traces of the previous decor. If there are opening sashes on the window, then there should be several curtains, then each of them will be installed separately.

Instructions for installing roller blinds on plastic windows with self-tapping screws

  • Remove the packaging and check the contents of the product.
  • Insert the gears into the brackets and connect them to the shaft.
  • Attach the structure to the window and mark the drilling points with a pencil.
  • Pay attention to the fact that the canvas does not overlap the window handle and fits exactly the size of the window.
  • Drill and fix the curtain mount with self-tapping screws. Put caps on the brackets.
  • Lower the canvas, and check the correct operation of the mechanism.
  • Adjust the height of the chain and install a limiter on it.
  • The lower part of the roller blind can be attached to the frame with magnetic tape or reusable Velcro.

Roller blinds for plastic windows without drilling

To spare beautiful new windows and not spoil them with holes, especially plastic frames, curtain installers came up with simple ways installation of roller blinds using adhesive tape or spring brackets.

How to attach a roller blind to a plastic window with double-sided tape

  • Insert the shaft with the curtain into the mounts, and check the serviceability of the lifting mechanism.
  • The bottom of the canvas can be fixed at the bottom of the window on a magnetic tape or Velcro.

Installation of roller blinds on a spring bracket

It is possible to fasten roller blinds to a plastic window using a spring bracket only on an opening sash. It can be easily removed and put on the frame without damaging the window.

Here's how to do it:

  • Remove parts from packaging and check that all required parts are included.
  • Slide the brackets onto the frame at the marked locations.

Specialization: master in construction drywall constructions, finishing work and styling floor coverings. Installation of door and window blocks, facade finishing, installation of electrics, plumbing and heating - I can give detailed advice on all types of work.

Roller blinds have become widely used relatively recently, but have already gained immense popularity due to their attractiveness, functionality and ease of installation. In this review, I will tell you how to measure windows before buying products and how to fix them correctly. There is nothing complicated in the works, and almost anyone can handle them.

Overview of the main mounting options

It should be noted right away that roller blinds differ in their design and size, so they can be attached using different methods. I will talk about five of them, which are the most popular and used most often.

All of them are reliable and durable, so you need to choose the solution that best suits your needs and suits the design of windows in your house or apartment.

Option number 1 - location above the window opening

This method is suitable for products that are larger than the window opening. That is, you get a canvas that will cover the entire window completely, this option is good where you need to minimize the penetration of light into the room. What should be noted here:

  • If you need to limit the penetration of light into the room as much as possible, then the canvas should be at least 10-15 cm wider than the window opening. Options look good in which the roller blind is the same width as the window sill;
  • The length of the canvas depends on the design of the window sill, if it protrudes beyond the wall, then naturally the roller blind should not go beyond it. If the window sill is made flush with the wall, then the design can be 10 cm longer for more reliable protection from the penetration of light;
  • Again, if you need designs that will simply limit the view, then the color can be anything. If you need to close the windows from the light, then choose dark options they are much more efficient.

Let's figure out how to install such roller blinds. For work, we need the following materials and tools:

Tools and materials Usage
Fast mounting dowels The standard size 6x40 is enough, usually there are 4 fasteners per product, but with a large width, their number may be more, you need to look in advance at the diagram that comes with the product and deal with this nuance.

Often, fasteners are already included in the kit, but they are too flimsy and small, so unpack the product and look at the dowels - if they are very small and made of thin fragile plastic, then it is better to buy better products, especially since their price is low

Roulette and level To take all the necessary measurements, you can’t do without a tape measure, and in order to set the structure evenly, you need a level. Eye work - no the best solution, very often later it turns out that the system is crooked, which spoils the whole result of the work
Perforator with drill In order to make holes, we need a power tool with a drill of the desired diameter and length. If you don't have one, you can rent it for an hour, it's inexpensive, but you don't have to buy expensive equipment for a few holes.
Screwdriver With its help, the screws are screwed into the dowels and the roller blind box is fixed, most often used cruciform options PH2 or PZ2

Now let's figure out how to fix the structure with your own hands:

  • The roller blind must be wound on the drum, most often it is sold in this form. The structure must be attached to the wall and centered so that it is located exactly above the opening and the protrusions on both sides are the same. Also, do not forget to check the horizontal level and make marks for self-tapping screws (after removing the side plugs of the drum to open the mounting holes);
  • Drilling is done with a hammer drill. If you have wooden wall, then you don’t need to drill anything, you can simply screw the screws into the intended places.

If you have a drywall wall, then it is best to use Driva-type dowels for fastening, they are simply screwed into the wall and you get a finished hole into which the screw is screwed. In such a dowel, it is possible to ensure reliable fixation of the drum.

  • Then the screws are screwed in, the drum holder is attached to the surface and attached. Everything is simple here, and the main thing is to press the element well, you should not apply too much force, as the plastic may crack;
  • Then a shaft is installed on the rod with teeth, after which you need to put the curtain in the way it will be located in the open position, and snap the latch on the chain, which is located closer to the wall. After that, the curtain is lowered to its lower position, and the latch is placed on the outer chain. All the diagrams are on the instructions, so you will not get confused.

Option number 2 - location in the window opening

Another option in which the roller blind closes the entire window. It is only good for structures that do not open, as the system will interfere with the sashes, remember this. The mounting process is in many ways similar to the one described above, so I will focus only on those aspects that differ from mounting outside the opening:

  • You need to pick optimal dimensions products, if everything is clear with the length, then you need to figure out the width. The fact is that the drum on which the canvas is fixed is always a little wider, so your roller blind should already have an opening of 4 centimeters - 2 on each side, do not miss this important nuance;
  • Fastening can be done either over window frame, if you have space, or to the top of the opening, which is much more common. The work does not differ from the above, and the installation method depends on the type of base, it is important to align the position of the drum, if the opening is uneven, then it is better to place a plastic plate under the structure, skew will cause the system to work poorly;

  • Due to the different position of the roller blinds, you must make sure that the option you choose can be installed above the window, some modifications are only suitable for wall mounting.

Option number 3 - fixing to the window sash with self-tapping screws

This solution is the most common, as it has a number of advantages:

  • The design does not interfere with opening one or two window sashes;
  • You can open the curtain on one half, and leave the other closed;
  • There is a window decoration option when different canvases are used;

  • You can use both conventional options and designs with guides that allow you to fix the roller blind in desired position and don't let her talk. This option is especially good for skylights which are placed at an angle.

As for the choice of roller blinds on the sashes, then general rules are simple:

  • Width should be approximately 4 cm more than glass width to cover 2 cm of frame on each side. This indicator may be higher if the design does not interfere, and it is undesirable to do less, since gaps may form along the edges;
  • The length is usually selected based on the height of the glass plus 6-8 centimeters, but again, deviations are acceptable if they do not affect functionality and do not worsen the appearance of the structure.

Products are fastened according to the following algorithm:

  • First of all, you need to remove the plugs from the drum and position it so that the canvas protrudes the same distance on both sides of the glass;
  • Then you need to fix the cassette with four screws - two on each side. Some advise pre-drilling holes, but if you have special self-tapping screws, then you can carry out the work and so - the plastic can be easily screwed in;

  • It is necessary to glue the guides, for this, the surface of the plastic is first degreased. Next removed protective layer from a double-sided tape glued to the guides, they are inserted into the groove on the cassette and pressed strongly against the frame, make sure that the elements are located strictly vertically;

  • Next, you need to carefully stretch the canvas along the guides and straighten it, it should move smoothly and not warp;
  • Lower the roller blind to the lowest point and insert the latch on the inner chain. After that, you can put on the plugs and pull the canvas up to the top so that it protrudes by about 1 cm, and put the latch on the outer chain. Job completed successfully.

Option number 4 - gluing to the sash

We will figure out how to fix roller blinds on plastic windows without screwing screws into them. It does not always make sense to make holes, because if you decide to remove the structure, then holes will remain on the surface, which are unlikely to be repaired.

Therefore, I will talk about another mounting option that is simple and does not leave damage to the frame:

  • It is best to use Easy Fix fasteners, these are small pieces of very reliable double-sided tape. First you need to mark the position of the structure, after which you need to degrease the surface so that the fastening is more reliable;
  • Next, you need to attach the holders at the locations, the lower protective film, and the element is pressed against the surface as tightly as possible;

  • The side clamps of the shaft are placed on the glued holders, after which the structure is assembled, and all the above steps are taken to set up the system. If necessary, guides are also glued.

To fix the curtain in the lower position, you can use a piece of Velcro, which is also glued to both the frame and the canvas.

I would like to note that I have had roller blinds installed in the same way for five years now, nothing has fallen off either on the blind or on the opening sash, so if someone says that this solution is unreliable, do not believe it.

Option number 5 - spring brackets for opening doors

Let's figure out how to hang roller blinds on plastic windows without screws and gluing, this option is only suitable for opening parts, it is very simple to implement:

  • It is necessary to open the window sash on, and then put two brackets on the upper end of the frame that will hold the structure. The most important thing is to arrange them at the width you need;

  • A drum is inserted into the holder, after which all the necessary settings are made and, if necessary, guides are attached, which are glued, as in the cases described above;

  • After attaching, check how the window closes, if everything is fine, then you can use the construction as usual.

If you have a window with both a blind and an opening sash, then the choice of how to attach a roller blind to the part that does not open is up to you. I would recommend gluing, as it is both simple and reliable.

Conclusion

Mounting a roller blind is a simple process, especially if you are gluing a structure or using brackets, because no tool is needed to work.
